Conveniently located and adequately comfortable

Stayed in a room with two twin beds. The room was spacious and clean. The wifi signal was strong and stable, and the speed was fast enough for video streaming. The location was 1-minute walk from Da-an Park station and a convenient store. There were several dining options and coffee shops nearby.

A couple of minor gripes:
* The shower curtain did not have enough coverage of the bathtub so some splashing of water on the floor was inevitable. Also the bathtub in my room had some DIY repair done before. While it still worked fine, having a large patch of caulk on the bottom didn't look nice and felt kind of weird to touch.
* The twin bed was a little too short for me (I am about 6' 3\"/190 cm). Wished the room description had included the dimension of the bed

Great location with many dining options nearby. Located right next to the MRT station and bus stops, this makes transport within the city very easy. The view of Daan park is beautiful.

Staff are very friendly and helpful.

The room is spacious for its price in Taipei, and the bed was comfy. Electric bidet comes standard in toilet. There is also a self service washer/dryer for guest use.

However, the building is very old, and the facilities show its age. During my week-long stay, a swampy, stinky smell emanated from the air conditioning vent, which I suspected was due to drainage leakage. I hope the management will address this.

Generally, a very nice stay. However, the bathroom in my room where I stayed (301) had two shortcomings. First, the mirror over the sink is too far away from someone taking care of their grooming needs. Second, the shower head is placed on the wall in a location that is almost guaranteed to have water spill where it's not wanted, even with the shower curtain pulled closed.

This hotel is in a very nice area of Taipei. Being so close to the metro also makes accessing the rest of the city super easy. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and most importantly the AC was cold (very important in summer here)! If I had to point out a negative, it would be that the elevator is small and slow. But it wasn’t really an issue at all during our stay and we would gladly stay there again. Recommended for sure.

Beware of Bed Bugs! Avoid this hotel at all costs!

Our experience at this hotel was marred by a bed bug infestation. After the first night, we woke up with bites, initially assuming they were caused by a mosquito in the room. However, the number of bites increased over the following three nights. Being unfamiliar with the prevalence of bed bugs in Asia, we mistook them for mosquito bites. Upon consulting our general practitioner back home, it was confirmed that the bites were indeed from bed bugs, based on their distinct pattern.

After consulting with our GP back home, we promptly informed the hotel about the issue, but they vehemently denied any presence of bed bugs. Their only response was that they had placed clean sheets on the mattress after we left (they were never changed during our stay), implying that the problem was resolved. Despite our attempts to explain that bed bugs reside in the mattress, not the sheets, the hotel disregarded our concerns and accused us of fabricating the issue. They even went so far as to suggest that the bites may have occurred during our plane ride, which was factually incorrect. We had already been in Taipei for several nights without any bites. This lack of cleanliness and their dismissive attitude left us thoroughly dissatisfied.

We strongly advise against staying at this hotel due to the bed bugs, their failure to address the issue, and their unresponsive attitude our concerns.

The rooms with park view are fantastic. Cleaning service is not very consistent (they did not vacuum; they forgot to do the room one day). The breakfast is not much fun - same every day and TV on all the time. But given the standard of the park view room and the fact that it has a bath, it is good value for money. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. I wanted to extend my stay but the twin room was no longer on-line although available at the hotel. A shame because I ended up leaving and regret it.

A good, clean and inexpensive hotel located close to MTR elevator and escalators which is important to us. Also on weekend Jade and Flower markets just a few minutes away. Restaurants in the area as well as 7 eleven and Family Mart. We enjoy eating at Subway and Sushi Express. Overall good value for the money.

This is a very nice and quiet hotel. Very centrally located. A few stops on the Red Line from Taipei 101 and easy access to Taipei Main Station and train or bus or taxi to and from the Airport. The room amenities are wonderful. The free breakfast every morning had a variety of Western and Taiwanese food... An excellent place to stay. Highly recommended.

No reason why I wouldn't stay there again.

I usually start my reviews with the nits, the biggest one being that I couldn't really get the heat to work properly. And I kept wishing for more coat or towel hooks to dry wet clothes. Otherwise, while it wasn't as glossy as a 5-star hotel, it was perfectly fine for my needs. WiFi worked well. There was an outlet reasonably near the bed. The lights could (generally) be turned off from the bedside. It had a relatively big bathroom with lots of hot water for the shower and a rainhead plus handheld. There was a refrigerator. There was free tea, bottled water, and even free snacks! Free breakfast buffet had a homespun quality (you'll see...) but was a great way to taste local cuisine (congee, stir fried vegetables in various sauces, etc.). Was across from a big park, easy walk to neighborhoods with restaurants, and half a block from MRT subway.

My stay at the Dolamanco Hotel

I stayed at the Dolamanco Hotel for six nights during my recent visit to Taipei. The hotel itself is not a 5-star property, but it is a very good location for getting around Taipei via the very modern and well maintained public transit system. The hotel staff is extremely courteous and helpful for all needs/requests and English is spoken. The Wi-Fi is very good and is complimentary. The breakfast is of Chinese fare but you can survive if your taste is only Western; it is basic but filling. The accommodations are comfortable but not lavish. Overall, I would say that it is a very good value for the price.

The outside impression is not that good. The room is decent and comfortable. The lift is too small and max weight only 450kg. It is simple breakfast and not something to be expected like buffet with variety of food but decent enough for you to start a day.

Good base for exploring downtown Taipei

We booked this hotel for the convenient location by an MRT station and for what looked like a nice park across the street. The park did not disappoint! The staff were very polite and efficient and knew us by sight within the first day. The hotel is quite small, only about 50 rooms, and the rooms themselves are small as well. It is best for single travelers or couples; our family of four had to split into 2 rooms. However, we enjoyed the experience.

Nice small hotel with views of Da'an Park. Super easy access to MRT red line. Room was clean, usual amenities like bottled water, coffee, tea, crakers, cold drinks. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We were able to request early check in and able to leave our bags after check out. For those on US embassy business, as I was, AIT (American Institute in Taiwan) is about 2 blocks away. Good restaurants within walking distance especially The Noodle House a block away or hop on the MRT and go eat at one of the many options at Taipei 101 (3 stops away).

We stayed at the Dolamanco as a quick night stay before returning to the US. You get what you pay for and this is a cheap stay so don't expect great things. Small room, smelled like smoke, limited selection for breakfast. The good news is it's just next to the MRT so it's super convenient and the staff were super helpful.

NOT SUITABLE FOR WESTERNER'S STANDARD. THE ROOM WAS VERY SMALL, KEEP SMELLING OPEN SEWAGE IN THE BATHROOM, WET ALL THE TIME AFTER A SHOWER, VERY SLIPPERY AND SMOKING SMELL ALL THE TIME. Good Location, Comfortable Room, Reasonable Price

The best part about this hotel is its proximity to Daan Park Station, making it easy to get just about anywhere in the city within 15 to 20 minutes. Taipei 101 is just a few stops away, as is Taipei Main Station.

My room was large and comfortable, with a great view of the park, a nice sofa and a big bed with different kinds of pillows.

The bathroom had a proper bath and shower (which is not always the case in budget hotels in East Asia) and the water temperature could be adjusted easily (again, not always the case).

I was pleased to find a refrigerator stocked with complimentary water and a few snacks when I checked in. These were replenished during each of the three days of my stay, as well.

The staff were courteous and, though they did not all speak English, were eager to help.

The television in the room was a bit small and far enough away from the bed that it was kind of hard to watch, but that was the only real issue that I had.

The location isn't the most happening (near two big roads, not much foot traffic), but across the street there is a nice park where you can rent bicycles using your subway card. Far from the subway until a new line opens end of 2013. Also, I never got the wifi to work. Other than that had a good stay!

This hotel has great location. It is just in front of Daan forest park. The house nearby this park is the most expensive in Taiwan. It has fabulous and unbeatable view at very cheap price and good breakfast buffet. I cannot find other better hotel at same price. However, there is no metro station nearby. You can have walk for 10 mins to reach the closet metro station.

We did not know what to expect in Taiwan. The staff was excellent. Location was great with a park across the street. No sitting areas in the hotel and room was very small. The hotel is small with 6 floors and maybe 5 rooms on a floor. Breakfast was good, just different from what we are use to. Felt safe and the room was fairly quiet.

The stay is OK but should able to find better deals. Hotel is old and with the humid smells until the hotel put the dehumidifier out. Room is very small, but bedding is OK. The front desk staff is very very nice. Hotel location is very good also. However, because the road to the hotel currently is in construction make it very inconvenience to reach the hotel. The breakfast is very simple.

Reasonably priced hotel in Taipei

This is a small hotel but never short on comfort which give you a home-stay feeling. The room was clean and the range of toileteries provided was fantastic. Though the breakfast provided was so so, the spread was considered reasonable as the number of guests to be fed is small. The location was not really that ideal for older guests as it was a bit off the MRT route , but not a problem for younger guests and those who knows how to move around Taipei with public transport.
The front desk staff was helpful and courteous. They offered to book the transport for me to CKS Airport, and for safety reason too as my flight was early in the morning. However, the driver seemed not to have sufficient sleep and was dosing off while driving and i have to pretend to cough to wake him up when the car veered off to the next lane. Perhaps the hotel can highlight this to the transport company concerned of this problem.
Strongly recommended for anyone looking for reasonably priced hotel in Taipei City.

-good location; right in front of Da'an park.
-large bathroom
-spacious room
-employees speak English more then good enough to communicate
-lcd tv with premium movie channels, though they weren't in HD.
-easy to get to; the airbus from taoyuan stops a few blocks away from the hotel

A few perks that are nice for travelers, they had an outlet with a universal adapter built in so it would accept any kind of plug; also the internet was really fast (though not wireless, you need an ethernet cable).
There is a free continental breakfast everyday, but I always went out.

-The only two off things:
1) when you leave you have to give your key to the front desk, I never asked but figured it was for security. They use traditional lock and keys (not electronic cards) so if someone lost or stole a key they'd have to change the locks. It wasn't a big deal since the staff were friendly and someone was always at the desk.

2) the door has a 1/4inch gap between the floor so noise in the hallway is fairly easy to hear. The hotel isn't large so with only 6 rooms per floor the noise didn't last more than a few minutes of people just getting into their rooms at night.

a nice little hotel for a few day trip. I traveled along so noting the size, its great for couples and singles but i'd take families elsewhere.

Couldn't stand the smell

We stayed here for 3 nights on our trip to Taiwan. First day, I asked for a room change due to cigarette odor and they brought me a ionizer. It seemed to work for a bit but still smelled of cigarette and later of \"bathroom.\" The bathroom had no ventilation, so it was very humid in the room. Our friend stayed in another room, and he said it was worse in his room. They need to vent out the whole hotel and get rid of the smell. The shower has no curtains, so the whole bathroom gets wet after a single shower. The rooms only have one key, so it's really inconvenient for 2 or more guests with different schedules also. Not recommended.

Sincerely, I hope the Hotel can provide some variety rather sausage, egg, porridge and salad for the everyday breakfast. Sure they can make some mee hoon, noodle, pork, chicken, etc for a change. I end up with the bread and coffee.
Still I am grateful for breakfast provided and thank to the nice lady managing it alone.

Dolamanco Hotel in Taipei (Da-an district)

This is probably the best value hotel you would ever find in the city of Taipei. The hotel is located in the nicest living area (Da-an district) in Taipei city, and not too far from the rapid transportation system, roughly 10-min walking distance. The room is in fact larger than what I would have expected. The staff are nice and helpful. I will definitely go back on a budget trip.

My girlfriend and I traveled from the TaoYuan airport to Taipei via bus, to the main station. We were able to get to the hotel by the subway, and walk to the hotel. It's easy to spot, directly across from the park. We arrived late, and there wasn't much to eat directly around the hotel. The check-in and check-out were smooth and easy. We were not disturbed by noise from inside or outside of the hotel. The bed was big and soft. There was no tub in the basic room, but the water was hot. Room service helped us set up the free Wi-Fi. While not completely luxurious, it was nicer than I expected for the price.

What a lucky choice!

We had to go to AIT, which is only 2 blocks away from the Hotel. Even though it's not the cleanest or the newest hotel you would expect, people are super friendly as I read in previous review. It's walking distance to MRT, the subway system in Taipei. And I could't believe how close I was to \"DinTaiFong\", the most famous traditional cuisine, yum~~!

I stayed at Dolamanco Hotel for 2 nights in May 2011. Daan park is directly across the street, nice park for a walk. Plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. About 5-10 minute walk to nearest metro station. room was very clean. The hotel staff was very helpful and speak good english. Overall a nice hotel and a good price

foreigner-friendly hotel

Dolamanco Hotel is located in front of Daan Park, one of the largest parks in Taipei -- and it is in a walking distance from Dann subway/metro station (it takes about 10 minutes to walk to the station). It is a small hotel but they provide free breakfast and free high-speed internet. It also has friendly and courteous staffs.

Not a bad experience

The hotel room may have been a little small (I'd stayed at Taipei YMCA which has bigger rooms) but we found it cosy and comfortable. It's right on the north of Da-an Park in Taipei, on Xinyi road which presented some difficulties by PT depending on where you're going, but a subway is being built right near-by. But it's not far by taxi to the main shopping district and other places like Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall and Sun Yet Sen Memorial Hall.

It is pretty good hotel considering the price of the hotel.
The room is clean, and the location is very convenient to go to any major points in Taipei. It is in working distance to a very nice Park, resturant, and shopping mall.

Great Efficient Hotel in Taipei

If you are looking for a five star experience, this isn't it. But then again, it is the price of a motel 6. It is in one of the most convenient places to be in Taipei and the free internet and free breakfast really make it worth your while. The breakfast is traditional chinese breakfast. if you are serious about exploring other cultures, this breakfast will get you going. If you have someone paying your way and can afford it, stay at the Grand Hyatt. If not, this place is a great bargain.

Dolamanco Hotel across from Da-an park on Xin Yi road.

Everything was as expected. Laundry service was prompt and nicely done. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I bought local mangos and would take them to breakfast with me. The cook would gladly slice them up for me. There were a couple of days that my room didn't get cleaned. I did leave a 200 TW dollar tip ($6.67 US) one day for the maid and she didn't miss any days after. She also left an appreciative thank you note in english and mandarin and gave me a fresh rose for my room. There was a lot of construction going on in Taipei over the 4th of July, including a lot in front of the hotel. But they were very good about maintaining a good throughway for pedestrians and it didn't interfere with my stay at all. The MRT is very close (subway), and a bus stop was less than half a block away. A night market is very close and it's not such a hard walk to either the Sun Yat Sen memorial or the Shang Kei Shek memorial (spelling?). The floral and jade markets are very nearby on the weekends. It's not the top of the top hotels but it's also not tops on the price, I'd gladly stay there again. I had no concerns of safety, theft, or accessibility while there. It was a very nice stay on a very memorable trip.

It's a good location and an acceptable

It's a good location and an acceptable price - and the staff were all very polite and pleasant, many of whom have good English too. The room was clean and comfortable.

My main problem was the mosquitoes - my bedroom was full of them meaning that one night I could barely sleep. I appreciate that mosquitoes are a problem in Taipei at this time of year, but perhaps the hotel would benefit from spraying the rooms and corridors more regularly, or installing deterrent devices.

The corridors smelt very dank, indicating a problem with the air-con too.

The breakfast was decidedly average - it would benefit from greater imagination, I feel - with the worst of both Chinese and Western breakfast content. I find it ironic, since Taiwan is actually home to excellent breakfasts, be they dan-bin, omelettes or dumplings.

Overall though, for the price, this was a positive experience, and if they sort out the mosquito problem, I'd recommend the Dolamanco to others.

Friendly/helpful hotel staff. Generous drinks & snacks (complimentary). Breakfast sufficiently good with western breakfast + chinese porridge + nice coffee/fruits. Close to MRT station and airport bus route. Hotel should also have large English (Dolamanco) sign instead of just Chinese signboard. Happy with my stay there.

If you're looking to stay at a budget hotel in a good area, this is it. The facilities felt quite old and run down. While our room was clean, the bathroom smelled of a mixture of mildew and food. The room size was too small (smaller than Tokyo hotel rooms) for Taipei standards. The hotel staff were not very proficient at speaking English. Although our requests were met, we were repeatedly asked to \"please hold\" while anyone on duty who was English speaking would come to the phone or desk. The best things this hotel has going is its location. It is conveniently located across the street from Da'an Park. However, ongoing street construction can be loud and distracting. The weekend Jade and Flower markets are also just around the corner from this hotel.

スタッフの方がとても親切でした。
名前をうかがっておけばよかったですが、女性で少し日本語ができる方には大変お世話になりました。
駅もコンビニも近く、非常に便利な場所でした。買い物で荷物が増えても、すぐに部屋に置きに帰れました。
また、フロントは24時間対応で、コーヒー・スナックがいつでも提供されているのも何かと便利でした。

フロントスタッフの方は比較的良かったと思いますが、清掃がイマイチでした。3日目はバスタブの掃除がされておらず、飲み終わった後のカップも洗われていませんでした。
立地はとても良く、地下鉄の駅まで徒歩1分くらいでしたので、荷物が多くなるたびに部屋に戻ることも容易でした。ホテル自体は古いですが、内装はリフォームされています。水回りはリフォームされておらずレトロ感がありますが、お湯はたっぷり出ますし、トイレの水もしっかり流れたので良い方だと思います。

地下鉄の駅近でコンビニや日本でも有名なレストランも近いので、便利な場所にあります。森林公園も目の前にあります。個人的にはバスタブとウォシュレットが装備されているのが選んだ理由ですが、満足しました。
