Our stay was amazing.
Staffs are very helpful especially lady checked in us.
We had buffet dinner and breakfast, there are so many choices also all foods quality was amazing.
The hotel connected to Yunessans onsen theme park, it is big plus.
We recommend this hotel.

Great staff. Awesome touch to have free ice cream at the main lobby. Private onsen on the balcony of the room with a stunning view was breathtaking and helpful given my partner has tattoos and can't use public onsen. Best breakfast buffet with many options that ive been to.

We had a room with a private bath on the balcony. Our room was very clean and well appointed. My husband and I had separate single beds - not sure if I made a mistake with the booking or if that was standard. The location of the hotel is stunning. The staff were incredibly welcoming and accommodating. There was a shuttle bus from the local train station which we didn’t know until a couple of days before our trip. The included teppinyaki dinner was one of our favourite dinners in our whole time in Japan. No tattoos allowed in the public baths, but the private bath was perfect for me.

An absolutely incredible property in Hakone. We couldn’t imagine a better experience in the area. Staff was very welcoming and inviting upon arrival, and the general ambiance in the lobby gave us a sense of relaxation immediately. Off-property Kaiseki dinner was a great experience, with amazing presentation of dishes and fantastic service. Onsen facilities were great, very clean with many amenities. Wonderful experience overall, thanks for making our first time in Hakone a memorable one!

The outside private onsen is really just big enough for one. The rooms are kind of small. Food is very good and drinks are available for all tastes. I am gold vip and was supposed to get a 5600 yen credit that never materialized. The room price included dinner but they listed credit separately. Apparently this is confusing English translation. I eventually got that the room prices include 5600 yen dinner. Not credit. They should probably clean up the deception in the promotion. Just put bundle price. Otherwise nice hotel and spa.

Very enjoyable experience. The staff was/is, overall, incredibly respectful/kind and the breakfast and dinner buffet, a better and cheaper option, was fantastic (with a large variety of options). The only issue with our stay is I have a shell fish allergy and made the mistake (my fault) of not informing the staff with enough lead time and the result was the fixed price dinner we paid a premium to enjoy, was not enjoyable as they could not substitute any ingredients, the server was visibly frustrated and made me feel embarrassed about my allergy, and the front desk after (our meal) suggested we eat at the buffet for our next evening meal, though they would not offer a refund for the difference. The Hakone area is beautiful and a nice break from Tokyo, Kyoto, etc. though the options for daily excursions are limited to the open air museum (really nice), a small museum, etc.

Our 2nd time staying here and we love the onsens here! The dinner buffet was delicious and so many food choices! The staff are friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the free ice cream and drinks and snacks that were offered everyday. Very convenient access to Yunnessan Waterpark. Lots of entertainment and kid friendly activities. We can't wait to come back again!

It is a very beautiful hotel. The room is beautiful and spacious. The bed is very clean and comfortable. We used both private and public onsen, it was a great experience. We also had kaiseki dinner which was also an amazing experience. The breakfast was wonderful with a lot of variety. Overall it was a great experience and we really enjoyed our stay.

This was our favourite stay for our whole Japan trip. We stayed at 3 other hotels. This place and area is unbeatable and i wish I would’ve booked a second night. I didn’t know that I would want to live this day again. The staff were ridiculously kind and helpful. At the end of our stay, I asked which bus and where I should take to get to Hakone-Yumi to and she literally left her post and started running to help me catch the bus.
My son enjoyed free ice cream from the vending machine (which he loved).
The band in the lobby before dinner was such a nice touch.
The dinner and breakfast were perfect.
Honestly, just the perfect relaxing spot for us. Would go back for sure.

I couldn’t have asked for a better stay!
We loved every minute of our stay at Ten yu. The staff were very accommodating and friendly, the room was excellent with all the amenities you didn’t even know you needed.
We loved the onsen and especially the 6th floor one. What an experience!
I also really loved all their shower products. My hair has never been so shiny and soft! Where can I buy them please??
The free ice cream and the biscuits were excellent provision.
The breakfast and dinner at the Buffett were great with lots of choice but I would prefer if they had some different options every day. If you are trying to pack light, don’t worry about carrying make up remover, face wash, razors, hairbrush and even pyjamas or clothes! They provide you with everything including a kimono you can use to walk around property and even during dinner.
My only slight issue was that I was supposed to have a food and drink credit which I asked for and they said that as I have dinner included they would provide it with dinner. Well the dinner already had drinks included and they offered us a glass of sparkling wine in addition. I would have preferred to have the choice to use my credit for the lounge to have some cocktails.
Overall, extremely satisfied with our stay!

Didn’t really feel like a spa hotel. Yes they have hot baths, but most people from the uk won’t want to go in naked. We used the bath on the balcony which was nice. Apparently there are massage chairs in the spa area.

I took the taxi so I couldn’t say about the free shuttle, but the onsen was perfect that I would return again. The sushi in the Hakone dining buffet was fresh. The unlimited amount of alcohol in the buffet surprised me. The Mountain View from the private bath and the 6th floor open air bath were so pretty. The staff was cordial too. The room was so nice that I didn’t feel like going outside for my stay. There’s an underpass within the hotel that takes you to morinoyu and the kowaiken water park for the family. I would definitely go again soon and recommend it for people experiencing an onsen for the first time.

The TEN-YU was an exceptional experience. The staff recieve you as if you just arrived home. The whole ambience is of relaxation and de stressing. Enjoyed a fabulous aromatherapy massage at the onsite AnSpa, which was in the most serene location.

The Tepanyaki dinner was something else!! Beautifully prepared starters and delicious cuts of the best Kobe beef.

We were able to unwind immediately from a long trip and made it a stay i will never forget!!!

We stayed at a room with personal onsen. The tub was a bit small and it takes 15 min to fill each time, but the view and area was divine. We had a wilderness view and had a swing chair that was super comfy. The room was set up with two futons and two beds for our family of four. Overall very nice room, and they included pajamas and yukatas for all of us. They had some refreshments at the time of check in and had free seventeen ice - ice cream cones/bars throughout our stay. We were shuttled to our kaiseki dinner that included a small shabu shabu portion with wagyu beef. Breakfast was insane with the amount of options available. Oden, western, raw fish, curry, bacon, fruits, veg shot, champagne, beer, juice, grilled fish, espresso machine, dessert, omg way too much food, but all so good. We took the shuttle in and out of Gora which was on time and every 20 min. We barely missed our bus out, so we spent a few minutes at the foot baths right at the door. The views were nice there and it's a nice end to our stay.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Hakone Kowakien TEN-YU and left feeling thoroughly satisfied with the overall experience.

We stayed for three days and two nights on a half-board basis, and both dinner and breakfast consistently exceeded expectations. The traditional Japanese kaiseki dinner was beautifully presented and thoughtfully prepared, and the hot pot experience was equally memorable. Each meal felt carefully curated rather than routine, which we greatly appreciated.

One of the highlights was the sunrise onsen. There is something quite special about soaking in the open-air bath while watching the morning light unfold — it was genuinely breathtaking. Breakfast, too, was generous in variety and high in quality.

If we were to mention one small point, it would concern the blackout curtains. As we were travelling with a young child, the room tended to become bright quite early in the morning, which occasionally meant an earlier start to the day than we might have hoped. A slightly more complete blackout arrangement would perhaps make the experience even more comfortable for families.

That said, considering the price point, the standard of accommodation, dining and overall atmosphere represents remarkable value. We were sufficiently impressed that we have already arranged to return in November, which perhaps says more than anything else.

The entire experience was grandiose, from the room and amenities to the private outdoor tub and public natural spring baths. It almost felt like a 'Disney-fied' version of a traditional onsen. While located in a rural countryside area, the high number of foreign staff gave it a unique, international vibe that felt a bit different from 'traditional' Japan. The food offered a wide selection, though the buffet quality was a bit inconsistent—some dishes were hits, while others missed the mark. Still, there were plenty of options to choose from!

A beautiful hotel and building interior. My wife & daughter both used the women's onsen multiple times and were very impressed. We had both the breakfast and dinner buffets, and I would say they were par for the course for hotel meals in Asia - very good, but comparable to others we've had. Staff were exceedingly polite and friendly. Again, I would expect this in Japan, and I was not disappointed. We used the shuttle to nearby Gora station twice, and that was very convenient. The room was very clean and I took advantage of the tub in the balcony. The room is small, and it was a little hard to get around for 3 people. Unfortunately, there was no place to store our 3 suitcases out of the way, and they were on the floor and we had to step over them. But all in all, it was a wonderful stay, and I would stay there again.

The room was perfect, very very clean, very comfortable bed, and - save for the lack of a coffee maker - very well equipped. The bathroom was very good and complete.

The hotel itself is beautiful and has incredible views. The buffet dinner had tons of options and was top notch. Same for the breakfast.

The staff in general was very nice and helpful.

And the onsen was incredible, with thermal waters and very nice facilities.

Arriving at the hotel is rather easy, it's a 45 minute bus ride from Odawara Station if you get to Hakone by train. And the bus leaves you just at the door. The bus also takes you to some of the most popular attractions in the area, so it is very convenient if you want to move around.

We liked it so much we decided to extend our stay for an extra night, so we'd definitely go back again.

This place was more than expected! The Onsen experience was superb and the staff was 100% accommodating, friendly, and English language friendly. The buffet dinner and breakfast option was delicious including snow crab at both meals (as of this review). The connecting public / unisex Onsen was also included which was a bonus as we could enjoy themed spas. If you are looking for your first Hakone Onsen resort, I highly recommend this spot. A really great family hotel in the heart of Hakone. It’s very clean, the staff are absolutely amazing and the kids can enjoy free access to Yunessun (the onsen water park next door).

We enjoyed the buffet food, unlimited ice cream, and all sorts of drinks and snacks peppered around the lobby floor. They just look after you very well here.

If you have kids, I definitely recommend staying here for a few days while exploring Hakone and enjoying the onsens. We will come back again.

Hotel was amazing. Staff greeted us as we were walking in from a distance (Got off the bus station and took interesting route to hotel). Staff walked us to the room. Room was very spacious. We had view of the whole valley. It had an open air bath on the balcony if you didn’t want to do the Onsen. Dinner was delicious. We had the buffet and options were endless. There is “unlimited” ice cream from a vending machine (ask staff for a coin). Onsen was clean (only did one side so don’t know what other side was like). There was an indoor and outdoor. Unfortunately, it is remote. We took a taxi to get to Lake Ashi and took awhile to get one (we went early in the morning). I would have loved to stay 2 nights. Hopefully next time.

We have over 60 stamps collected this year and have been a Hotel.Com gold for the past 3 years.
Hakone Hotel TEN-Yu has been the very first to offer the upgrade room where available benefit as a Gold member.
Thank you for that.

The Hotel itself is amazing. The Suite Room with private onsen is breathtaking.

Buffet breakfast is excellent.

Thanks all the staff for working over Christmas.

We didn't have a chance to experience the Yunessun but it looked fun.

Outstanding quality accommodation! From arrival we were blown away - excellent staff and service, arrival refreshments, comfortable rooms and exceptional onsen facilities and buffet breakfast options. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and the free shuttle bus to and from Gora station, along with the 1min walk-thru to the Yunnesun Onsen and Hakone Tozan Bus stop, is very convenient. I wish we'd stayed more than 1 night. Our kids loved the free ice cream vending machine too - what a fun treat! This hotel puts a lot of thought into their facilities, customer service, and added value for guests. Truly 5 stars! Would love to stay again!!
