This place is great! Bruce is a wonderful host-very hospitable and knowledgeable about the area. Beth , the breakfast chef, makes the most delicious breakfasts! The grounds are beautiful and well groomed! Sitting on the screen porch at night with a cocktail was very relaxing! Cannot say enough good things about the inn and the people there! Highly recommend!

Amazing place, beautiful property, incredibly friendly people. We had a terrific time - the rooms are spacious and charming, dinner at the gorgeous barn was great and breakfast in the main dining room was also great. We felt like we were staying with friends at a wonderful country estate. Definitely recommend and we plan to go back. They are known for doing weddings and seem like a perfect space for that also!

I got a flat tire as I was leaving for a funeral. The owner was kind enough to drive us to the service and assisted with getting us a mechanic to look at our car when AAA took over 2 hours to respond. They could not have been more accommodating. The breakfast was delicious and the inn was wonderful. Couldn't recommend the inn any more

My wife and I stayed at the Old Saco in on a recent anniversary trip in the area and we really loved the place. The pictures and descriptions do not do it justice, it is a very nice and well run Inn. The 2 owners were very genuine, helpful and nice and we enjoyed getting to know them briefly. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable. The dining room was cozy and comfortable and a fun place to hang out. They also have a small pub right off of the dining room area and it is really cute. We definitiely recommend the Old Saco Inn and will be coming back!

A little out of the way 30 minutes from Conway. Few restaurant options off season. But this is a one of a kind place. Attention to details. Great owners. Great breakfast. Quiet serene. If you like a unique lodging experience and can take some peace of mind, you will love it.

We absolutely loved the Old Saco Inn! We have traveled a lot and this place is up there amongst some of our favourite places we have ever stayed. We stayed at the Inn for 4 nights and skied at Shawnee Peak which was around 10-15mins away. Bruce and John (and Izzy the dog!) were lovely and such great hosts. The breakfast was amazing and we felt really at home during our stay. We also ate at the Bistro, the food was great along with good cocktails too. We plan to come back here during the summertime as we can't wait to show our friends and family this wonderful gem. Highly highly recommend.

Drove all over New England trying to locate the perfect small inn. Walked in here and didn’t want to ever leave. The restaurant and food was amazing, and the pub was fantastic. After spending 20 minutes there we felt like family. The rooms were excellent and meticulously cleaned. Warm, cozy bed and an amazing shower to top it all off. We live 1500 miles away and are already making plans to go back. You honestly need to go check this place out, if you are looking for a beautiful, romantic place to spend some time this is the place !!

Our wonderful stay at The Old Saco Inn

This was the first time that my wife and I have had an extended stay at a B&B. I don't think that we could have made a better choice. Our hosts, John and Bruce, were fabulous. They contacted me ahead of time to provide helpful, extra details. This was our first visit to Maine, and they gave us all the information and insights they could on how to spend our days. The location is beautiful. The room was nice with an Amazon Dot to provide anything you needed from Alexa. I thought that was a really nice amenity. The breakfast was outstanding. John cooks up made to order meals that are creative and delicious. The blueberry pancakes, fresh fruit and whipped cream were the perfect start to my day. The Old Saco Inn is secluded, but you are less than an hour's drive from anything you would want to go and do. North Conway N.H. and the White Mountains are 30 minutes west, and it's less than an hour to Portland or Freeport to the east. The Saco River is great and there are several other nearby lakes to enjoy as well as small towns with wonderful shops and treats to enjoy. Our only regret was that we were not around in the evening to enjoy a dinner at the inn. The menu looked terrific and the main lodge was always packed when we returned. I don't know if our travels will bring us back to Maine again, but if they do, we will return to The Old Saco Inn. John and Bruce are in the process of building a wedding barn on sight that will be incredible. We look forward to seeing pictures soon.

Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable. Bruce and Jon were wonderful, engaging hosts. One would be hard pressed to know that they have only owned the Inn for about 9 months...they are naturals as hosts, making us feel part of their extended family during our stay. The breakfasts were our kind of comfort food and were hearty enough to take us well into the day as we enjoyed the Fryeburg Fair. We only wish that we had stayed long enough to enjoy one or more of their evening meals! The grounds are peaceful and their plans for expansion, which were in the initial phases of construction while we were there, will be perfectly suited to accommodating weddings and other large functions. Our room (Sweden Suite), was comfortable and especially welcoming at the end of a long day of roaming around at the Fryeburg Fair. We will be back!

The restaurant was delicious (available on the weekends), breakfast (included) was excellent. There is a small pub on site, as well. They have local beers on tap, as well as a decent selection of bottled beer. We will return!

What a wonderful place! We loved everything here...from the long and winding road to the eclectic restaurant, our spotless, spacious room, our hosts, the food, the flowers, the area...can't say enough about this hidden gem. Its a laid back place with a great vibe, and Bruce and Jon were so warm and welcoming...it was like being with old friends. We've been home 1 day and are already planning our next visit!

Excellence in Lodging.

We only stayed one night, we were in town for family matters. Had no expectations, though the pictures looked nice. It is remote, but only 20 or so minutes from North Conway and it's shopping and touristy activities. Take it from us, it is worth the drive. We upgraded to a suite, and what beautiful accommodations. Roomy, spotless, tastefully decorated. Superb. The hosts Bruce and John were super. My only regret is not dining there, as the food looked and smelled fantastic. The complimentary breakfast was perfect, and delicious. The Pub was a dynamic mix of guests and such a great time, followed by a campfire. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We cannot wait to return.

In fairness, the property was great, clean and very well maintained. Our issue was with the booking procedures. We booked one room for two, and another for three ... but were not aware of the $30 surcharge for the third person in one room (above the premium we paid for the room that accommodates 3x guests). Made for an uncomfortable start with owners of the property ... asking us for an additional $30 at check in. The place was beautiful, just wish that one issue wasn't \"hanging over\" our stay. So please be aware of 3rd and 4th person surcharges at time of booking.

Lovely quiet getaway

Old Saco Inn is located about 7 miles from Fryeburg ME. We stayed in the Sweden Suite. It was a large room with gigantic bathroom and huge tub We had a private deck that overlooked the driving range and back yard. The innkeepers were very friendly and served a fabulous breakfast. There is a small pub for the guests. It opens as a restaurant for dinner on the weekends but we were not there to enjoy that. It was very warm when we were there and there is no air conditioning but the room had skylights and windows that opened as well as windows. If you stay in that suite be sure to close the door to the bathroom when showering as the steam will set off the smoke detector!

Fantastic Stay at the Beautiful Old Saco inn

One of the best getaways we have ever had. Incredibly beautiful and secluded location, room and amenities. I've already recommended the location to several friends and family members, and plan to go back in the future. The Sweden room was also a huge plus as it has a huge tri-oval tub that could easily fit 2-3 people. They offer free use of kayaks and canoes from their launch on the Saco river. There is also a very well maintained driving range on the property.

I loved my stay at The Old Saco Inn. The Inn was gorgeous. The surrounding scenery was beautiful. My husband & I stayed in Heather's Loft (in the Carriage House). We had our own private deck. The room was large & the bed was very comfortable. Pete & Sandi were wonderful hosts. Pete suggested local hikes & scenic drives. Sandi started off our days with a delicious breakfast. Since I don't think they're going to let me move in, I'm definitely going to visit again.

We stayed at the inn for our 5 year wedding anniversary. The ground keepers were super nice and accommodating, and the breakfast was good. But overall we will probably not return. After reading reviews we were under the impression we were only 15 minutes from North Conway, it took about 35 minutes to get there from the hotel. So if you're looking to be close to North Conway this may not be the place for you. The bed was very stiff, we both woke up with sore backs the next day, and the bathroom tub squeaked every time you took a step in it, along with the faucet handle falling off. It just wasn't the place for us.

Peaceful retreat in a lovely setting

Lovely, quiet retreat near but not in the bustle of North Conway. Beautiful grounds and garden located right on river. We were warmly greeted by Sandy who explained all amenities. Sadly, we did not have time to canoe or use the putting green. Room was light and large with a private balcony. Breakfasts were yummy and we especially enjoyed eating by the lovely perennial border entertained by a hummingbird.

Arrived and were cordially met by Sandi, one of the Innkeepers. Given a tour of the main lodge and shown our spacious and comfortable room. Bathroom to die for!!! Met Pete, the other Innkeeper-owner the next morning as we sauntered to the dining room for breakfast. Pleasant gentleman and between he and Sandi, we had a very good breakfast of home made French Toast, real maple syrup, perfectly cooked bacon and an assortment of fresh fruit. Had a pleasant conversation with Pete about his and Sandi's foray into the world of hotelery. Very informative! We were allowed the courtesy of a late checkout and upon doing so, we were granted the use of a canoe for a little self-propelled trip down and up on the Old Saco River. Very scenic and lush. Shallow water and virtually no current to contend with. All-in-all, a perfect stay in a quasi-rustic Inn with great amenities, run by very capable and friendly Innkeepers. Would we return again? You betcha!
