Welcome to Domus Zamittello, a restored 17th century palazzo, ideally located at the beginning of Republic Street, just as one enters the cultural capital city of Valletta. Domus Zamittello invites guests to enjoy the vibrant and cultural baroque capital along with its high-end shopping addresses whilst appreciating the architectural beauty of this prestigious building.
The hotel offers accommodation in different elegantly designed classic rooms, some overlooking the hotel courtyard whilst those on South Street overlook the open theatre. This comfortable Hotel is located in Valletta.
This elegant 17th Century home had originally been part of the earlier estate of the Auberge D'Italie, one of the langues of the Order of St John. Recent research dates the palazzo back to 1633 when it was used by various knights of Italian descent.
and was then known as Casa Pensa. In 1805, after the departure from Malta of the Knights of St John, the British Governor granted ownership of the palazzo to Sir Giuseppe Nicola Zamitt, for services to the Crown.
In recent years, the present Count of Mont'Alto, a descendant of Sir Giuseppe Nicola Zamitt after whom the palazzo is now named, embarked on a project to enlarge it and restore the entire property to its former glory. Opened in 2018, Domus Zamittello has 21 elegant and comfortable rooms, out of which six suites, five of which are spacious duplexes.
The spacious 125 sq m sun terrace on the third floor overlooks Republic Street, as well as the entrance to Valletta, the Triton Fountain and beyond. Reception service is available 24 hours a day.

What a wonderful boutique hotel centrally located in Valletta. The room & bath was so spacious and I made good use of the terrace with views of the city. Everyone was so helpful and I appreciated the small gym which I used a few times during my stay. I would recommend this as a place to stay. Just a note to call ahead before your arrival so they can arrange to have someone meet you about a block away to help bring luggage in. Taxis and cars can not stop in front of the hotel.

Amazing staff to make sure your stay is memorable. Enjoyed their driver Owen that drove us back and forth to the hotel. We also enjoyed having him drive us around to discover the island (for an hourly fee). We had an amazing stay. Moul, the GM as well as Maria made sure our restaurant reservations were done and confirmed. We relied on them too to discover all the hidden gems of Valletta. Loved everything about our stay and the hotel location is THE best!

This former palazzo has been updated by the owner to retain its original features; it has all the comfort and style you need in a top-rated boutique hotel. You have no need to hire a car as everything is so close.
The staff are the backbone of the hotel and go above and beyond to please all guests they are exceptional. Nothing was too much trouble, from the General Manager Moul, staff Maria, Sandra on reception and more but I don’t have their names, we were very well looked after just like Royality.
Our room, was a duplex premium suite on the second floor with two bathrooms, it was excellent with every amenity. It had very comfortable beds with premium bedding, and I also enjoyed the use of the third-floor terrace, with views across the city.
Breakfast is not a buffet so all orders are prepared freshly, and you can order whatever you like.
I thought the room might have noise from outside but no it was very quiet and never stopped us from sleeping.
I was that impressed I have booked already to visit this marvellous hotel again in a few months’ time.

I've stayed in many different 5 star hotels on the island but this hotel really was the best of all. The only thing i would like to improve is the quality of their breakfast. It wasn't too my liking but everything else was a tip notch.

This is hotel is extraordinary. Set right in the center of Valletta, you cannot ask for a better location. As soon as you open it’s doors you feel the tranquility of this perfect hotel. A renovated palace, meticulously maintaned it’s the perfect spot to explore Malta. Our suite was spacious, with a comfortable bed, two renovated batrooms - perfect for an extended stay. Staff was attentive and helpful in every way. A special mention to Sandra, whose recommendations were right on point. Her help in securing tours and recommendations were invaluable. Last but not least, the hotel’s restaurant L’Ancora must be visited. There are many great options in Valletta, but this one is highly recommended.

We travelled to celebrate my boyfriend's big birthday. From moment we walked through the front door till moment we left, we had the most amazing experience. We had the most amazing upgrade and staff were very attentive to even the smallest detail. On birthday morning we had a surprise at breakfast and extra something in the room for later. Staff always had a good recommendation on what to do, where to go and what's worth seeing and were happy to make bookings and reservations. I don't think I ever felt this welcome and looked after in a hotel before. I think it really made our stay unforgettable.

We spent a lovely week in Damus Zamittello Hotel in Valletta, Malta. We were met with very pleasant greetings every morning from the staff in the breakfast room, who may I add were very helpful and knowledgeable about any trips we were about to take. Breakfast had very good options to choose from. All the staff, from the managers right through to the housekeeping staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is a beautiful and tranquil oasis of calm in the heart of Valletta, my wife and I stayed in room 43 which was just amazing and well appointed with one of the best beds we have ever slept in and had a dual aspect window with the room having both a bath and walking shower. The hotel is a mix of restored original features and modern touches which works so well.
Finally to the staff who we have to say are some of the most attentive and professional we have had the pleasure of staying with in all our travels. From us both a very heart felt thank you to the whole staff at the hotel, who made our stay just so amazing.

Where to start? Not only was it beautiful, with great staff, close to everything, in the perfect spot for EVERYTHING, but it was also perfect too. The staff were more than that, from Maria to Chani(hope I got it right, forgive me if I didn’t) and MORE, all of them made it the best experience for myself and my family. We loved every minute, woke up excited and ready for more every day and only went to bed because we were staying in a home of homes and got and needed rest and recharge every single night! I would only not recommend, because I’m selfish and I want them all to ourselves! Honestly the best stay I’ve ever had and will definitely try to have again!

Hotel is a five star hotel (even though it has a 4 star rating). Extremely centrally located (on Main Pedestrian Street). Sandra and Maria went above and beyond on their duties at the front desk. Extremely pleased with their service, recommendations, etc. GM was always present asking if there was anything that he could helps us with. Restaurant and housekeeping personnel very attentive and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

We didn’t get the room we initial asked for. They upgraded us to a suite with stairs.not really an upgrade for us but we didn’t complain. No windows and not good for an older couple. En-suite to upper bedroom way too small. Smelled like sewage when we entered the room. Looks more luxurious in photos however very good service.

Stayed here for four nights on our mini honeymoon. The hotel benefits from a perfect location for exploring Valletta and the island. At the top of Republic Street and next to the bombed out Opera house it’s an easy place to find, and the bus station is only a 5 minute walk away.
Set in a magnificent restored baroque building, public areas are finely decorated with many interesting artefacts and pictures (even the conference room!) They haven’t forgot about modern amenities though, the air con is a welcome chilled wall when you walk in from the heat of the Maltese summer. There’s a lift too, if you don’t want to use the well carpeted wide staircases.
We had opted for a suite #23, and it didn’t disappoint. Set on 2 levels, a comfortable sitting room complete with vintage furniture and a full bathroom downstairs. Upstairs a large bedroom with a huge comfortable bed and another bigger full bathroom. Both bathrooms had rain style showers but no bath, premium toiletries, and the towels were big and very fluffy. There’s plenty of storage upstairs and down, and a tv in both rooms too.Two large carafes of mineral water were refilled daily, only thing missing was fresh milk in the fridge. Separate air con units upstairs and downstairs keep things cool.
The roof top terrace is a fantastic place to watch the hustle and bustle of Republic Street down below.
Breakfast was very good, decent range and well cooked.

They haven’t forgot about modern amenities though, the air con is a welcome chilled wall when you walk in from the heat of the Maltese summer. There’s a lift too, if you don’t want to use the well carpeted wide staircases.
We had opted for a suite #23, and it didn’t disappoint. Set on 2 levels, a comfortable sitting room complete with vintage furniture and a full bathroom downstairs. Upstairs a large bedroom with a huge comfortable bed and another bigger full bathroom. Both bathrooms had rain style showers but no bath, premium toiletries, and the towels were big and very fluffy. There’s plenty of storage upstairs and down, and a tv in both rooms too.Two large carafes of mineral water were refilled daily, only thing missing was fresh milk in the fridge. Separate air con units upstairs and downstairs keep things cool.
The roof top terrace is a fantastic place to watch the hustle and bustle of Republic Street down below.
Breakfast was very good, decent range and well cooked.

Very charming 21 room boutique hotel in an historical building. The location just inside the City Gate was easy walking distance to all the sites. The room and amenities were up to date, and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Special mention to Maria who not only called a taxi but walked us and our luggage in the rain to the meeting spot outside the pedestrian area. If you want a personalized, small hotel experience in the old part of the city, I highly recommend Domus Zamittello.

The hotel is perfectly situated for all of the main sightseeing attractions and outside you have access to a large range of shops to enjoy. When we arrived we were sat down, provided glasses of prosecco and upgraded to a premium suite. Beautiful room with lounge on lower floor and bedroom upstairs, only one point to add that it has no natural light but that did not bother us at all, added to our superb stay. Breakfast is a la carte with a continental breakfast and hot food, quality outstanding. Bus terminal is 3 mins walk and hotel hospitality is second to none. All staff were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and always attentive to your needs. Our stay flew by and thankyou to everyone for making it a special time.

They also booked restaurants for us over the phone (we'd tried to book via email in advance, but par for the course these days, you don't get any reply), which made our time in Valletta much smoother as we weren't striving to get into well known places such as Nenu's. Their own restaurant recommendations like The Old Bakery were also great.
The hotel is situated just across the pedestrian bridge from the bus station, and since we were sightseeing every day it made going places easy.

We just stayed 5 nights at Domus Zamitello and had a wonderful time! The staff here were so hospitable. Every morning they would ask us what our plan was for the day; give suggestions and tips and go out of their way to help us. The breakfast was wonderful and delicious, and the service was impeccable. Our room was spacious for a European room, and the location was walkable for Valletta and the theee city’s. Parking is off site but close by. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The building itself is beautiful and we were in a lovely suite full of history, character and charm. We were welcomed with a drink on arrival which was much appreciated. The staff were all extremely helpful throughout our stay and nothing was too much trouble. The toiletries were nice and the hairdryer in the room was much better than most (I needn't have taken my own)! The property is in an excellent location for all the historic sites, museums, shopping and nightlife, but as it is right on the main street and is the main route home for party-goers at night, I would suggest asking for a room at the back. Breakfast was OK, there was plenty on offer but nothing to really write home about. We didn't try the restaurant for dinner, but the staff were happy to make recommendations and reservations elsewhere. It is a very elegant hotel and I would definitely return for another special occasion.

From our initial greeting, to assisting in making sightseeing arrangements, to navigating a tricky airline reservation, the staff excelled. The hotel is in the old city in Valletta. It is charming and comfortable. The included breakfast was a relaxing event, with a wonderful menu.

Domus Zamitello Hotel is a gem in beautiful Valletta. Everything was picture perfect! It is very well located in Valletta’s city center. We had a smooth check in, the luxury and updated room came with all amenities you look for while traveling: a comfortable bed, great shower, minibar and many more. And, most importantly, the entire hotel staff at the reception desk, housekeeping and restaurant are the best and deserve a standing ovation. A special mention to Fabian, he is a real gem who made us feel at home and even arranged our breakfast to be ready ready at 3:30am before leaving for the airport at 4am.
