Excellent location for Valletta tourism and nightlife but also not too noisy. Stayed in ground floor room which was a little dark, but mostly quiet. Shower was great. Occasionally there were faint drainage smells around the property but this could have been due to the work going on in the next building. Outstanding choice for breakfast, served in a vaulted cellar area. Friendly staff without exception. Would stay again and will recommend to friends and family.

Beyond the service, the facilities were excellent. The room featured a powerful shower exactly what you need after a day of exploring and the breakfast offered a very good selection of options to start the day.
The location is ideal; it is centrally located in Valletta, making everything easily accessible, yet it feels like a peaceful retreat. If you are looking for a hotel that combines a perfect location with staff who truly care about your experience, look no further than Palazzo Paolina.

What a fabulous boutique hotel the Palazzo Paolina is. Located on St Paul’s street perfectly positioned just off Merchant Street (near to the best gelato in Valletta) and only 10 minutes walk to the Malta Experience (a good pick up for out of city tours) and the e city gates.
The rooms are comfortable and a good size - ours had a small balcony as well- and the bathroom was well equipped with great shower water pressure. Bottled water was provided every day and the room had a coffee machine and a kettle.
Breakfast Buffett was available daily and provided hot and cold dishes. It catered to practically every taste.
The staff were very friendly and helpful - no request was ever too much. Overall a gem of a hotel in a great location. Will certainly visit again!!

My wife and I were on the 4th floor where there is a frosted glass landing outside the elevator by the door. Those of a nervous disposition, though, should not be put off. The bathroom was very large and clean, with the shower (having both an handle held and overhead shower head) being very enjoyable. The room facilities included a small fridge and tea making facilities, as well as easily controllable air conditioning and (we visited in August) 2 complementary bottles of water daily. The street outside the hotel was being used for ongoing work and deliveries for nearby buildings so wasn't what you might call picturesque. This by no means detracted from the hotel though, as a few steps either way once outside the hotel, provided access to side streets leading towards the town centre. Once of the bets things about the hotel as the fact that it was perfectly quiet and we were able to sleep soundly every night. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and assisted in arranging a taxi form the airport on arrival. On departure we took one of the excellent bus services. The Breakfast was a small but perfectly formed buffet served in the atmospheric basement. All-in-all a very pleasant and highly recommended hotel. Thank you

This hotel is in the centre of Valletta and within walking distance of all the beautiful places to visit there. The hotel is in a quiet but central road, a historic house with a lot of local charm. The staff are very friendly and helpful.

Small room but inevitably so as renovated old building, personal service very good, everyone helpful and genuinely wanting to make the stay enjoyable. We had a lovely time at this boutique hotel. There were a couple of issues with water - the toilet flush and the sound of the jacuzzi upstairs - both resolved quickly by the lovely staff. It was fun having breakfast in the ‘cave’ on the lower ground floor. Marked down from a 5 star due to misleading photo on Expedia - we thought the roof seating area and jacuzzi were available to everyone but it’s part of the top floor room, and the bath towels (changed as required) were a little small but we did have dressing gowns. Never saw the bar and if you want a balcony you need to request one when booking. Nevertheless a lovely clean little boutique hotel with great staff and a brilliant location in the centre of Valletta. Water was supplied daily. I would stay there again.

We truly enjoyed our stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we had the good fortune of meeting the owner who is a renowned Maltese artist. Our room on the 4th floor included the hot tub and we enjoyed lying under the sun and the stars bathing in the bubbling water. The hotel is located in central Valetta, just around the corner from the basement market in the center of the island. The location is ideal for getting to know Valetta.

We had never visited Malta, and I am thankful we choose Valletta, the old capital, and this hotel. The staff welcomed is like family and could not do enough for us as guests. The breakfasts were delicious, and the hotel is a perfect location for finding a dinner spot & tourist site. It’s in walking distance to many sites, including the Cathedral of St. John and the Palazzo de Rocca, which I highly recommend. To save money the host will help you arrange a Bolt ride, much more reasonable than a taxi.

Arrived New Year’s Eve. We were given a room next to a noisy lift. It was the premium room which we paid extra for. The receptionist claimed all the rooms were the same. The bathroom kept flooding due to a faulty door. The entire ceiling was covered in black mould due to the extraction fan not working. We reported this to the owners (a father & son duo) to which they dismissed without apology and told us to ‘get out the hotel’ …..imagine if you had a child staying at this hotel breathing in black mould spores? Imagine being kicked out during new year week where it was impossible to get a hotel room because you reported a health issue to the owners? The owners are so rude and can’t accept any fault at their hotel. Really unprofessional. The owner is extremely sexist and only wanted to speak to my husband. Please do not stay at this hotel if you are a woman without a partner or if you have children. I have reported and sent the photos to Expedia.

This hotel is great in just about every way but has one flaw- there is virtually no noise insulation. This meant neither my partner or I got a descent night sleep on any of the four nights. At around 4:30am every morning we were woken up to the sound of the daily bin collection. We were second floor up too. The underlying cause is the window- it had air gaps to the point where you could see light between the frame even when it was closed- on a night of rain we woke up to water in front of it. I get double glazing is probably not permitted on this building type but failing that a secondary glazing unit would easily resolve.
Just to reiterate we were impressed with everything else about the hotel- the cleanliness, the location, the staff, the breakfast, everything else about the room. However, the primary reason we book a hotel is to sleep, and from that point of view it was terrible due to the noise. For this reason, I could not recommend unfortunately.

All bedrooms have been individually designed in a classic contemporary style. Where possible, and particularly in the older part of the building, the owners have tried to retain many of the original features, and there are many!
Consequently, all rooms are slightly different both in size and character. Each is perfectly appointed with a writing desk, flat screen TV and Nespresso coffee machines.
Larger rooms have the added benefit of traditional Maltese balconies or private sun terraces. Bathrooms are modern, and all come equipped with a walk-in shower or bath and Molton Brown amenities.
Within the central courtyard, guests and visitors can sit and enjoy the majestic features of the Palazzo whilst savouring a light snack, a glass of wine or a warm cup of coffee. This is an open air courtyard, however boasts of a retractable glass ceiling for duller days.
