The resort is nice, but a lot of hidden fees; it is far from everything, and the food is mediocre at best. My wife purchased something from the gift shop and was told she could return it if it didn't fit. Given that they only had one size, we tried, but they only offered store credit. The pool staff and waiters were very nice.

We recently stayed at the Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes in Cabo and booked a Presidential Suite, which was one of the few highlights of our trip. The suite itself was spacious, beautifully appointed, and offered great views—definitely enough room for a family with kids to spread out and feel comfortable.

However, the overall service experience left a lot to be desired, especially for a resort that markets itself as family-friendly. At first, the staff seemed attentive, but it quickly became apparent that the resort was operating during low season with very low occupancy, and this impacted almost every aspect of our stay. Services were stripped back, and it felt like the resort was nickel-and-diming guests just to keep basic operations running.

A particularly frustrating example was the nanny service. We were told we had to hire one nanny per child, which already seemed excessive. We only requested the service for three hours, but within two hours, it was clear the quality was poor—our kids were hungry, upset, and crying, and the caregivers didn’t seem engaged or prepared. We ended the service early and voiced our concerns, but even after escalating to the manager, the resort insisted on charging us the full amount. There was no flexibility, no understanding, and certainly no effort to make it right, which is disappointing when traveling with young children.

Crazy wind and terrible hospitality.

Ok where to start. Beautiful property and a beautiful penthouse room we reserved. My wife and I were on vacation with two girls ages 5 and 13 for 4 nights.

We checked in and had to walk in some insane wind getting painful sand blown in our faces following the bellman while 2 golf carts sat unattended. Let me tell you for the 5 full days we were here the wind was relentless. So much so that only one small section of pool was usable, while the other areas sat empty. It seemed they were short on staff because we barely saw anyone and at one point we tried to get a taxi and the guy up front said he was from another hotel and didn't know anything. Also everytime we went to a restaurant or the lobby etc we had to deal with the heavy sand blown winds. No one was available for a ride. And to add to the terrible service here, the woman that worked at the market was rude and short and scowled at me even though I was trying to speak Spanish politely.

The restaurant good quality is sub par and crazy expensive. A turkey sandwich for $33 and a bowl of strawberries $18 and the shrimp pasta $72. What?? Not many food options and you had to hunt for servers at the pool and go up and order by yourself.

The spa and beauty area was closed while we were there every day as was the kids club. Not many lounge chairs by the only pool that wasn’t ice cold.

So bottom line, the few staff that were on property were not very attentive or nice or helpful and the wind is unbearable.

They refused to upgrade us because they said it would be too much work for housekeeping. They did not provide any of the VIP amenities and refused to let us check out even an hour later. Very poor service overall. The restaurants are also very expensive and mediocre quality. Our first time here was much better and after the poor service this time we won’t be back.

Very nice resort, only problem is it’s difficult to find. There are so many grand solmar and they kept sending us to different ones. Rooms are beautiful, valet service workers were very nice. They push vacation package very hard didn’t think they would try for almost a whole day but in all we had a great time.

My overall stay was amazing the staff were super friendly and helpful. They all made me feel welcomed. Loved absolutely everything about it. I do however wish the bar was open a little longer. Bar closes at 6pm, but other than that my overall stay was incredible. Once again everyone was supper friendly and caring from the front desk, concierge, spa, activity center, bar, waiters, and room service.

Fantastic resort for families. My kids loved the water slides, activities, and the kids club. The adults enjoyed the entire resort and beautiful views. The free shuttle to their sister resort (lands end) is a great perk offering access to their pools and views and easy access into the city for exploring. We’re already planning on returning next year.

It is a beautiful resort located off the beaten path. There is absolutely nothing around. They do have a shuttle service that goes into town, but if you miss it, it will cost you money—the food and beverage service found to be just okay for a resort that literally has nothing else to offer I would have expected it to be excellent. The food was good but bland for my tastebuds.

If you like to swim in the ocean you need to go to certain beaches therefore you will need to rent a car since taxis can very expensive. Los Cabos has become quite expensive.

You get attacked by timeshare parasites upon entering the lobby. Nice people but not something I like to have to deal with - after traveling.

Out of the bigger resorts this has been my most preferred. It is a little out of the way from the main tourist area's.
We never left the resort on our short 4 day/3 night trip. The food was excellent, the staff was awesome, and plenty of things to do on the premises. The VIP package was very nice with some delicious chocolate covered strawberries.

They offered two free 80 min massages for us to do the time share sales pitch what was suppose to be 1.5 hours but ended up being 2hrs. Then the massages they booked were only for 50 min. Really over all a sub par experience. There is definitely better options in Cabo.

Service was poor when it came to the room. Furniture needs to be cleaned to live up to 5 star standards. I still recommend as the place is a dream for relaxation and of course the Golf course.

The attentive staff really make this beautiful resort a 10/10. Hostess Diana, servers Angel, Nelson, Josemara, Juan and Jose, and poolside servers Ricardo and Baltazar are all stars. Everything was always clean, food options were amazing and the drinks were fantastic. Can’t beat the views of the ocean. Lots of seating at every pool and even a special childrens play area. Amazing and so peaceful and tranquil! Beach front!

The resort was truly amazing and in a secluded location away from the marina/downtown area. It was truly a blessing to have a shuttle that ran every hour from the hotel to their sister hotel Grand Solmar Land’s end- free of charge! That saved us a lot of money but gave us access to the local restaurants. Service is impeccable at every CABO restaurant I went to- at the resort and in the city! The resort is located by the water but the distance from the resort to the beach (you can’t swim at the beach bc the tides are rough) is vast and so there are miles and miles of untouched sand that stretches across the ocean far from civilization! It was so tranquil and peaceful to have that much sand between the resort and the ocean to where you can walk along the beach in private. The resort is new so it wasn’t crowded at all! If you’re looking to get away and relax this is the resort for you! There’s only one good retauarant there- ANICA. It was amazing! They are expanding so perhaps they’ll add more restaurants bc there’s only 2 restaurants there right now. Currently there are 130 rooms but they plan to expand it to 600 rooms. I’m not a fan of the lagoon saltwater pool and that was the pool that was the largest. I mostly hung at the the regular pool. It also has a huge water slide for kids there. This place is gorgeous and the desert terrain sidled next to the ocean was so picturesque! I’d definitely come back again after they build a lazy River (coming soon)!!

Let me start off with the good - the property itself is very clean and the pool was great, except it was too warm and it being hot you really couldn’t cool off in the pool. We had a master suite and asked for a comforter for the Murphy bed, we had to ask 3x on 3 separate occasions. Then we tried to make reservations through concierge and both times they couldn’t find it after we received confirmation. Then we got no free continental breakfast or free bottle of wine. The mgr did reach out but never made it right. Just told us he would get back to us but never did. The cabana waiter was not friendly and seemed like he hated his job. The guys at valet were amazing and attentive so we’re the guys driving the golf carts on the property. Honestly this place is good if you do all inclusive and you never leave the resort of need additional blankets or get a cabana.

I thought I had booked an all inclusive stay, but when I checked in I was informed that it wasn’t, when I booked it says all inclusive on the resort description but apparently it’s another rate. The room service is not included in the all inclusive which was annoying since we had our kids ages 3 and 9. The restaurants have super limited menus for dinner. The breakfast at anica however is very good, as is the food at the pool.

We enjoyed going into town for dinners and excursions however there are plenty of dining options on the property.

Grand Solmar at Rancho is an amazing property. The grounds are beautiful with spectacular views, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the food was good. The master suite was very spacious. Abner the concierge was so patience and helpful.
The reason I gave this property a 4 instead of 5 is because when you check in, YOU GET LURRED INTO A TIME SHARE PRESENTATION AT CHECK IN. THEY OFFER A $400 CREDIT TO THE HOTEL AND AN $80 MASSAGE. THEY DONT TELL YOU IT IS $80 TOWARDS A $189 MASSAGE AND THE $400 HAS TO BE USED AT ONCE ONLY FOR FOOD AND BEVERAGE. THEY ALSO TELL YOU THE PRESENTATION IS ONLY 90 MINUTES AND YOU ARE THERE FOR 3 OR 4 HOURS. THEY ARE AGGRESSIVE DURING THE PRESENTATION. YOU GO THROUGH 3 PRESENTERS BEFORE YOU GET LET GO. THE LAST PRESENTER WILL GIVE YOU THE CHEAPEST PRICE AND DEAL.

DONT DO THE PRESENTATION. IT ALMOST RUINED MY VACATION,

The hotel suite was beautifully decorated and had amazing views of the grounds. The room had all the amenities we needed. The property location is pretty isolated from the rest of Cabo but provides a free shuttle to their sister resort that is within walking distance to restaurants, stores and bars. If you are looking for rest and relaxation, this hotel is perfect. If you are looking for a lively social scene, their sister resort will be a better option. The only thing I miss having at this resort is access to a sauna and steam room. Other than that, it’s perfect and I would stay here again.

Monster property still under development. Seems to cater to owners as homes and fractional ownership properties were under a lot of development. The hotel building is actually smaller in comparison. Pool is huge and kids had a blast on the slides, rope swing, and paddling and playing in the lagoon. It is VERY quiet and peaceful here as you are far outside Cabo. It was never busy or crowded anywhere on the property. They have a lot of land so we went mountain biking and hiking with Gustavo which was a blast. Rooms are huge, they are apartment size with a full kitchen, living room and bedroom with two ¾ bathrooms. There is a queen size Murphy bed so great for a family. Great if you want to get away and relax, not great if you want the Cabo party scene.

The physical beauty of the grounds and facilities is world class. The staff is friendly and professional. You will pay near to US resort pricing for food and drink, but the quality is uniformly high and the prices fair given the luxurious setting. (There are apparently all inclusive packages available that we did not elect.) We had a room issue at the start of our stay and Raymundo the manager personally ensured the issue was resolved to our great satisfaction with a different room (he went overboard to fix the problem and far exceeded any reasonable expectation to ensure our satisfaction). Picaro restaurant on the upper grounds was outstanding and not to be missed. We look forward to our return.

I’d give Grand Solmar a better review if weren’t for the food. At a five-star hotel, particularly one where the cost of food is ten times greater than anywhere else in Mexico, the food should be wonderful. Instead, apart from the most expensive restaurant (which is ludicrously overpriced and where getting seated takes a half hour), it is absolutely terrible. The five or six pool-side restaurants all have the same menu and we literally didn’t enjoy one thing. The worst frozen economy pizza you can imagine; flavorless tacos on stiff, stale tortillas; boring nachos with what tasted like pre-packaged guacamole. It was ludicrous. The “deli,” up the hill by reception, is fine for breakfast, but unless you want to eat all your other meals at the fancy, reservations-only Anica, you’re screwed. I was only there two nights and I can’t imagine how guests with longer stays put up with it.

This is a magnificent property overlooking the pacific ocean. Our condo looked brand new and was exquisite, with breath-taking views of the pools and ocean. It was beautifully decorated, quiet, and very comfortable. The kitchen was massive and elegant. It contained everything we needed to prepare meals in our apartment. The ocean is extremely rough in this area, so no one uses the beach. The beach provides a pretty backdrop and a sanctuary for turtles. The pools are amazing. There are two slides, a man-made lagoon, paddleboards and boats, rope for swinging into the water, a kids pool, and a kids center. Downtown Cabos San Lucas is a 25 to 30-minute drive. The hotel provides a shuttle several times per day. The hotel also provides free parking. The staff is incredibly nice and accommodating. The food at the restaurants was excellent. There are lots of fun activities scheduled throughout the day. We love this property!

We checked in or “attempted” to check into the Grand Solmar on a Thursday afternoon. This was a short getaway for us since we were leaving on Saturday morning so time was of the essence. My initial impression of the resort was it was very clean and obviously new. We were looking forward to our stay. Our excitement however ended once we tried to check in. Upon checking in the resort employee asked for my verification code. I presented my verification code that I received from Orbitz after booking and paying “in full” for our vacation a week prior. I was met with a “sir we don’t recognize that verification code please contact your agency”. I was taken back. I then called Orbitz and was informed that the wait time was going to be 4hrs. In disbelief I told the resort employee and they said there was nothing they could do. So I essentially was told to wait in the hotel lobby for 4hrs until I could fix the issue. First off why was it my responsibility to fix an common issue between the resort and Orbitz? Secondly the resort had all my information. They saw what room I paid for, the dates we were staying, but because they didn’t recognize the verification code I spent nearly two hours of my vacation that I paid for upfront trying to sort out their discrepancy. This ruined our vacation. I will never ever go back to this resort or recommend it to anyone. On top of that once the issue was rectified and they saw that I indeed had a reservation they didn’t offer to comp anything.

The hotel and location were beautiful. Grand Solmar is going to be beautiful when it's finished, but it's still under construction in some areas. The staff were professional/helpful for the most part but beware of leaving any belongings out when on the waterslides, kayaks, etc- my son's reading glasses were stolen in a very short time.
We purchased this stay through Expedia and the hotel description states that one the amenities in addition to kayaks, pool, and the hot tub is all-inclusive but its really not unless you pay extra for it. And all-inclusive is very expensive and doesn't actually include everything. Even though we had purchased the room for 4 guests, continental breakfast was only supplied for 2 of us in the booking. One cup of coffee was $10 USD. And even though they say that you don't need to tip, they really really really emphasize that tips are welcome. Needless to say, I was grateful we had our driver stop at Walmart before arriving at the hotel to get food drinks,and snacks for the stay.
Finally, upon check-in we felt very pressured to do their three hour time share tour. We had to refuse several

The property is beautiful and amazing. We had a very comfortable stay. The staff was amazing hands down. The food options were great, but it would be great if they can offer a kids menu, however, they were very accommodating when we asked. We want to say the kids club crew at the beach hut was amazing. My 10 year old son bonded with the crew. Fany was patient, kind, sweet and very friendly. She knew how to engage with my boys and teach them different things. Diego was amazing and very friendly. He took the extra time to talk and be personable. The activities at the hut were fun and entertaining. Lastly, Lupita was great. She always greeted us with a smile and would let us know what activities were planned for that day. Jose at the restaurant as was very friendly and polite. We will be definitely be back!

The meal plan is an absolute scam. First when you check in no one tells you what is and is not included. Room service is only 1/2 included and there are many items on the menu which are not included but are not marked as such. You can really build up a large bill by the end not knowing this. Don’t get me wrong, the property is gorgeous and the staff is wonderful but I would not recommend staying here.

Our family had a very mixed experience at this hotel. The room was nice. There are some serious negatives that we experienced, however:

1.The food is pretty bad especially if you're healthy and/or vegetarian. Everything has too much salt, too much butter, and too much meat. There was no consistency. Every time we ordered the same thing, something slightly different came. Every order came with an error. They either didn’t get something we ordered, or brought cheese in the meal when we asked for no cheese, etc. They even brought bacon in the French fries, which is a problem for us plant-based eaters. There is zero sense of food consciousness or health at this place. The people taking the orders don’t understand much. For this reason alone, we will not come back ever.
2.The price for basic stuff is a joke. $12 for sparking water? $105 for a ride to the airport (which is needed since they don’t allow Uber or taxis). The value isn’t there especially if the food is bad (see above).
3.Service was mediocre. We got yelled at for asking for a one-hour late checkout, even though the resort was empty when we were there. The room cleaning never happened when we asked.

We’ve had much better Cabo and Puerto experiences and will choose other resorts next time.

The property will be excellent… That is the problem. It is only partially built (approximately 1/2). Tennis courts, golf course, horseback riding, etc. are planned in the future we we were told but not yet ready. Otherwise it is extremely nice and will be a premier property when completed.

The pressure to buy a timeshare in the resort was a negative to say the least.

All this being said we had an excellent time. On site restaurants are expensive.
