We had the best experience at Under canvas in smokies. Staff was so friendly and helped us with planning our day and excursions. Special mention of Thomas, Christine, Phil and Sydney. Food was great and tasty. We are vegetarians and they had lots of options. In the evening we sat around the fire with other guests who we had never met before but after 2 hrs of chatting and enjoying s’mores learned so much about them and it opens your perspective to life. Highly recommend it

This was one of my most memorable stays ever! This was a girls trip and all of us loved it, even those that arent \"outdoorsy\"! The staff was more than accommodating even to the point of starting a fire for us ahead of time so our tent would be warm when we came back from an excursion. The staff are available in the lobby for 24 hours. The tents do not have outlets but there are usb ports to charge your phones. There was no service in our tent but i did receive some service in the \"lobby\" tent. Another great thing the staff does is they have an area of maps and brochures and the staff are there to answer questions and offer suggestions on excursions: places to go, hikes to take, things to see and places to eat. BUT do not skip a meal at the small quick order \"restaurant\" in the welcome tent. I recomend trying at least one brealfast and one dinner. The food was way above any camp meal i habe ever had...it was amazing! The avocado toast on sourdough with microgreens and smoked salmon....out of this world!! The bathrooms were super clean. There are towels available, and even small heaters in each of the bathrooms. There is a hairdryer in the towel closet if you need one. The bathrooms are private individual bathrooms with a toilet and shower whch makes it nice to have a private, clean area to get ready in. The tents have a fireplace for those cool nights and it heats those tents up wonderfully. The staff restock your firewood and starters each day. Wish i could fit more!

Yes, overpriced, but still fun to do once

You definitely have to be aware of what you're getting yourself into - and if you are, it more or less meets expectations. The highlight is the super cozy bed (which was kinda saggy - prob needs replacing) - and we thoroughly enjoyed gazing at the stars all warm and cozy in the bed. The worst thing was the crazy sink - would be better if they placed the shelf on top of the hooks on the other wall, so you don't bump your head when brushing your teeth! The shower was actually amazing (or at least, way better than expected). We did not use the stove, although I can see where if it is any later in the Fall/Winter we would have had to - in that case I would have had them come and light it for me, which they offered to do. They also gave us a thorough tutorial on everything upon arrival. They have mini fans in there for when it's warm, and there are two battery-operated lights in the room. They happily fetched me more towels when I wanted them, and overall were more than happy to help. I thought the food was pretty darn good, and so did my family. They have options for everyone from vegan to pescatarian to meat lovers and also kids - and they were more than happy to work with my weird requests (no this, add that, etc). The gravel is NOISY, and of course there's always some kid bouncing their flashlight all over the place - such is life. They provide a blindfold, and should add earplugs for the sensitive - we were fine. Overpriced? yup, for sure. Enjoyable? yes!

All the surroundings smell to dog’s poop, is more like a dog place than a family place. Showers with the one hand faucet is the worst! Come on , if you are saving a lot of money on other things and charging the same of more as the inn Christmas hotel (breakfast included) consider to allow guests to take a normal shower and brush the teeth normal! This is the second time we tried the place because of my Son, but to be honest is not worth the high price for that kind of experience, I know you want to make it look like a camping but for 350+ a night, at least we deserve to take a decent shower, and should place signs everywhere to make people to pick up after their dogs.

Thought I'd try something different. The concept is unique, but the actual tent is a little spartan for my taste. I don't care about living out of the suitcase with no place to hang cloths up. No cell phone signal or internet but they at least tell you that. Pretty costly for what is offered. Just not my cup of tea but others may enjoy the lifestyle and being so remote. The staff was terrific, and the public shower area was clean and pleasant. The kitchen and dining looked nice but I didn't dine there. I hadn't been to Gatlinburg area for many years, and it is a real tourist trap now. I won't be back.

Disappointing stay.

This place calls itself a small luxury hotel. No luxury here.
We had a suite - the amenities/furniture on the website are not what you get. No daily housekeeping. Apparently, it's available at the guests' requests, but no-one informed us of that. Room seemed dirty and we even wondered if the sheets were fresh at arrival. The staff is clueless in terms of service. No internet so you have to ask for advice, but most have no knowledge of local area. Restaurant is basic. No eco-water bottles. The drive is 30 mins to the national park and not much to do at the property.
It could be wonderful with a caring, knowledgeable staff, internet at least in the common area so that one can plan activities outside of the camp, having a yoga instructor or hiking guide on site, better restaurant offerings. At a minimum, each room should have a map of the national park and a handbook of what is available to do in the Smoky Mountains since there is no internet available.

I could go on. Very disappointing.

The kids had a blast meeting and playing with the other families. It rained a bit, but the tents stayed dry and staff worked hard to dry the outside areas and restart the outdoor fires when weather permitted.

We really liked all of the eco friendly products, but I really wish the same would be applied to the clothes they sell (they sell lululemon when they are not eco friendly when there are other US brands that are ir. Wolven).

Not a quiet experience in the woods

If you are looking for a quiet experience in the woods this is not the place to go. Screaming kids the whole time and staff riding around on loud ATV's constantly. The tents are VERY close together and you can hear everything. Loud as the city until quiet hours start at 10pm. Will never stay here again. Way over priced.

They gave the most secluded tent, and upon requesting a change they said we don't have you can go somewhere else, it was long weekend and it was far from town, we reached there 8PM in the night and were left nowhere to go. The lights were not working the fire place in the tent had water filled couldn't light fire, it was facing the forest and was in the corner we were scared, spiders inside the tent. Worst experience ever.

It was my first time staying at an Under Canvas site (my girlfriend’s second), and it exceeded expectations. It was a wonderfully relaxing glamping experience with just the right amount of comfort while enjoying the outdoors. They had a couple fire pits lit at night and some activities like trivia and corn hole. We won the trivia and both were given Under Canvas hats for our prizes. After a couple days of primitive backcountry camping this was the perfect way to end our Smoky Mountain experience!

Staying at Under Canvas was the highlight of our trip to the Smokies. It is a great place to relax and disconnect! No cell phone service or wifi. The staff is lovely and the grounds are beautiful.

The only negative is that the kitchen uses plastic cutlery while serving meals.

Came for one night with my 11 year old niece and loved the experience. Fun games and activities, live music was wonderful, food was enjoyable, complimentary morning yoga. Deluxe tent was darling and felt clean and comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating. My only issue is the early 10am check out time which felt really rushed and overshadowed the experience.

We were amazed when we pulled in and it felt like a movie. It’s remote (no cell service), amazing food, the people who work there are friendly and professional. The only issue was that Expedia had booked us when they were sold out so we had no place to stay thanks to Expedia and their wait time was two hours - it was 8pm we were 6 hours from home and stranded with our dog with no place to stay. Luckily the amazing manager at Under Canvas found us a hotel room that’s dog friendly and let us use her computer and only internet connection to book it and gave us all her info we can return soon and enjoy the property. HIGHLY recommended this retreat but will never use Expedia again due to the experience. Still waiting on our refund….

We wish we stayed for two nights instead of only one! Hearing the little brook outside our tent was absolutely beautiful. The crackling of the wood stove took us back to simpler times and created a great ambiance. All of the staff members were wonderful to interact with. A very well done experience.

The stay was wonderful. Great and attentive staff, safari tent was very comfy and even though it poured rain for a while the tent stayed warm and dry inside. Food at the restaurant was very good and they let us bring it back to our tent to eat. Overall a very pleasant stay. A couple notes for anyone reading. There is no cell service there (Verizon) and it’s also very quiet and off the beaten path. We loved it.

Great experience in the middle of the woods. Undercanvas is the definition of Glamping (all their interior design looks right off West Elm) comfortable, chic, spacious, clean. Friendly staff.
Perfect to disconnect (there is no TV, no wifi, and no cellphone signal). Recommending you come prepare for your own bbq - there is a Publix 15 min away in Pigeon Forge and this campsite has four big weber grills for your use. There is breakfast and dinner serve for purchase, free coffee, water all day.

OMG what an smazing experience - we sinply had a great time and i would highly recommend it. We stayed in a deluxe tent, but tent doesnt fo it justice because we had a shower and toilet with s huge bed and a log burner. Outside the accomodation was a lovely deck for us to sit on and soak up the great outdoors. There was entertainment at the main reception tent along with a camp fire which was great to sit around and meet new people.

A real glamping experience, with great tents, nice fittings and linen and enough space between pitches to give some privacy.

Food was really good, as was the free s’mores around the campfire in the evening, The Ole Opry singer topped off a really memorable ‘country experience’.

Excellent location to explore the area, close enough to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge but still feeling a million miles away.

Only challenge was the shower which could run a bit hot - but let’s not forget, its a shower in your own tent and not in a block, so a small price for privacy worth paying!

Our stay at Under Canvas Smoky Mountains was amazing for a first time camper! The property was quite lovely, so peaceful & serene and the staff are very courteous & knowledgeable about the area. The menu provided by Embers was varied, fresh & delicious with special combinations daily. Nightly s’mores by the fire pit & outdoor games were fantastic.

I was disappointed that there wasn’t organized yoga as advertised & there were a few issues with our tent that we alerted the staff to upon our departure. They seemed unaware but very thankful as no one else had reported the issues.

Over all Under Canvas is a great experience! We hope to return, as well as visit other locations in the future.

What a pleasant surprise. This glamping experience was phenomenal. The tents were even better than I expected, so pleased to have a private, flusable toilet and warm shower. The tent was larger than most hotel rooms. The whole Under Canvas space had a warm & inviting feel to it. The \"Lobby\" tent served excellent food + beer/wine. They had lots of indoor and outdoor games for adults/children alike. Fabulous campfire with all the fixins for smores. We were unfortunate to have a flat tire one morning when we woke up but the Jimmy, one of the staff, had a compressor and helped us back to civilization. A lifesaver! Great experience, wonderful staff. Got the passport and seriously considering going to other Under Canvas out West. Thanks for a great 2 days in the Wilderness-ish!

A experience all it’s own

Wonderful experience. It’s basically like a world of it’s own, but you’re still in a easy and short drive of all kinds of activities. The food is amazing, healthy, and they give you very large and generous portions. I highly recommend the delux tent if you go as a couple because they are secluded from the rest so it gives you a sense of privacy. Under Canvas really thought of everything and you don’t have to worry about bringing any gear or working out normal camping details. Worth the money and it’s such a fun and amazing experience. Best way to get back to natural, stay comfortable, and do it all hassle free.
