Do not go to this hotel.

Arrived to be told that the air conditioning did not work. The mini fridge did not work either. No effort to fix it. We got a fan and 20% discount that was ridiculous in a 35 degree heat.
We had to open the window, so the trash truck woke us at 4:30, then they had a party until 3 am, than there was a crane delivering something at 5 am. Very French of them !
The room was in poor to acceptable condition, very small.

I have been traveling to Paris and other European cities for 10 years and have never had a property in such disarray as this one. Please do not stay here as the tiles in the bathroom were missing, a used toothbrush was left on our bed, and what appeared to be black mold on ceiling was present. We immediately left the hotel after seeing our room for a different hotel down the block. Make sure you pay for the refundable option as Expedia was no help in changing our hotel because of this.

Two rooms, one okay, one not

Start with the good... front desk staff, price, location, comfortable bed, good storage, reasonably quiet

The annoying: air conditioner whined, shower head at opposite end from half door so water on floor, some ants in our bathroom, housekeeping tried to open bolted door and then knocked EVERY MORNING despite do not disturb being on door each time... and did come in with sign on door when we were not home (maybe trying to keep ants from our view), few hangers in wardrobe

The bad: our adult male friend was in a single room on first floor... he said it was loud, smelly, small... neither the refrigerator or the a/c worked... and his last morning he awoke covered in bug bites (which we hope were ants). Our a/c and baseboards were beyond gross and filthy, and our carpet and tile/grout were also in sad shape.

Bottom line... this hotel is good for the price IF you get a room on a higher floor. (Ask when reserving... there were no available rooms for our friend to move to after he got to Paris) Additionally, the hotel IS undergoing renovations (could be why the ants are active), so hopefully shortcomings may be addressed in the near future.

I might stay again... largely because the lovely front desk team made up in part for the other things
that weren't so great. If the hotel gets renovated and problems are fixed without prices going up too much, it would be a top choice based on convenience and location.

biggest scam from all pictures on the hotel web

first off all the image on the hotel website is a scam it have nothing to do with the hotel , the room was very tiny I paid for double bed and it was nothing like , the toilet was horrible , in my room , no space to turn , to put my small luggage . at the reception on my arrival no welcome , the receptionist was on his mobile phone , talking in and i have to wait for him to finish , the first thing he ask me was to pay for my city tax
and giving me the keys off the room , the lift is horrible only one person with one luggage can fit in the lift and you have to be lucky if you get upstair the corridor between room is horrible is a disaster , two people can pass you have to wait for one person to go then you can move , the hotel don't reflect the price is a scam yes a massive scam there is no anything that is the reality , please anyone who read my review should think carefully before booking in that hotel
i will not advice anyone to go to that hotel

We had really bad experience in this hotel , pictures on the website was not same , hotel conditions were very bad , bed sheets, linens were dirty , toilet was horrible they had one elevator but didn’t work and we carried all of luggages by stairs. The door didn’t seem secure We couldn’t stay a single night but already paid more than $1000 for 6 days we reserved this hotel from Expedia but they didn’t refund our money when we arrived at 11 am front desk guy didn’t allowed us to Check in early and we got room after 2:30 , when we saw bad conditions in the hotel we called immediately Expedia but they refused to refund money , and also staff were so rude and unprofessional, I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone , we had horrible experience for 1 hour.

The location is very convenient. There is only one elevator which is tiny. The wifi did not work well, which made my data more expensive and less reliable for international travel. The sheets had stains and burn holes. The window opened though, and the view from the window is great. There is currently construction happening at the store next door.

I was very disappointed with this hotel, all though the staff are wonderful the hotel it's self is very run down and in need of updating, door locks not working properly, no proper shower , hair drier didn't work and extremely noicy hotel . Lift would only fit 1 person so the only other way to reach the floors is by a twisty narrow stairwell which is dark and dangerous and a fire hazard.
Wouldn't recommend it!

Stayed 4 nights. First night we arrived there, it smelled like cigarettes, there was no shampoo and the shower head was broken. But we had a shoe polish buff…?!

Next morning I bought shampoo. We went out for the day. When we arrived back it was clean, restocked with shampoo and the shower head was fixed, so that won points back. We had a non smoking room but it still smelled like cigarettes. A/C was ok and definitely needed it. Hotel decor is very outdated but we really just needed a clean bed and bathroom because we were gone everyday sightseeing. Very close to trains and several bars/restaurants.

Overall it suited our needs but I would not stay again.

Only had one elevator, which would only take one person at a time. It never seemed available, so for most times had to use the spiral staircase.
No proper shower, had to stand in the bath, which was quite precarious.
Bed was good though, very comfortable and AC was very efficient.

We specifically booked this hotel because it had air conditioning, which generally makes hotel rooms more expensive. The air conditioner barely worked, and we had to sleep with the window open to get any relief from the stuffiness.

Otherwise, the hotel was just ok. The shower flooded the floor after each use, so you have to angle the shower head just right if you don't want a puddle of water afterwards.

On a positive note, the gentleman working the desk during the day was extremely friendly and helpful. It was also a quick under 5 minute downhill walk to the Sainte-Lazare train station, which was nice for our early departure.

Great place to explore central Paris on a budget.

This hotel was in a good location to explore Central Paris. With a nearby metro, cafés and bars. The reception staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room we had was clean and tidy. The bed was made up every day of our stay and towels replaced. Shower was very tiny as mentioned in other reviews and elevator a bit of a squeeze! We had booked a room with twin beds but were given a small room with only one bed. As we were a mum and daughter sharing for 3 nights it wasn't too much a problem for us, but would have asked for a change of room if it had been otherwise. All in all would recommend this hotel for good value, location and friendliness of staff.

There were no bells and whistles at this hotel. The first room with twin beds was small with stained carpet but the bathroom had ample room. Requested to be moved to 2nd floor because elevator was old and only big enough for one person and a suitcase. Used the stairs for entry and exit. Room was cleaned every day. A/C was not operational because weather is still cold. Opened the window for fresh air. Great location....Hotel is close to Metro Station, shops and restaurants. Front desk people are very nice and show you that they appreciate your business.

If you need a place to sleep for a day or two while in Paris, this is a good deal. Clean and has running hot water. The elevator is minuscule and can only fit in one person with a mini suitcase and takes forever to come up or down. The rooms are typical tiny Parisian rooms.

The staff were very polite and helpful.
Only breakfast is available.
It's a throwback to a bygone era of simplistic hotels.

Underground stations are nearby and will get you anywhere you want to go if you're willing to walk a little. This hotel would not be for everyone. I was extremely dissapointed about this hotel. First time I booked the room it was declined, then I booked again in a result I double booked under my name so they charged me doubled. I stayed there, asked them to refund my money because I made a mistake. But they said NO and rejected to refund mine. I think they're just too money-oriented, not thinking about losing customer or I'll never back again to this horrible hotel.

All staff members speak English which make it easy for everyone to either get the information needed or to even share their thoughts on their individual experience. You have great restaurants, cafes and even fast-food at every corne; you have the stores and a major subway station which connects you to all corner of Paris. Yes, the rooms and the elevator are small however that is how it is in most hotels in Paris. Great Hotel!

The hotel is a couple of blocks from St Lazare metro which is a good hub for connections to other lines. The hotel was a 3 star rating in Expedia but it was disappointing. We had two rooms - single and double for 3 people. The double was in better shape. The single had peeling paint and mold in bathroom. The cleaning supplies used were quite stringent and odour stayed all day. The air conditioning did not work well at all in either room. The elevator is the smallest - 2 people at a time. Only one if luggage - lol

We stayed there in May. The location is good but very noisy. Being close to the St-Lazarre train station, there is traffic until late at night. The hotel itself is ok but need a little refreshing. The rooms are very small. But arent all french hotel rooms... The elevator is so small that you cant carry 2 suitcases and you in it at the same time. My friend and I had to face each other when going up or down. The rooms are very clean and staff friendly.

Good hotel for couples wanting to see a lot of the City. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room comfortable, clean and reasonably well equipped. Decent breakfast, with a fairly limited range but plenty of it to load up on for the day. Ideal location - great if you like walking. 20 minutes to Place de la Concord, 45 to Eifel Tower and Notre Dame, 30 to the Louvre and Champs Elysees. If you prefer train and metro, Gare Saint-Lazare is literally two minutes away. A train ride to Versailles took about 40 minutes with one change. Plenty of nice bars and restaurants in walking distance, as well as a mini supermarket and a great bakery / cafe.

cons: terrible sound proof that you can hear clearly very single words and all the undesirable voice and sounds of the next room, this hotel is not recommended to families and children. The neighborhood (near Saint Laraza) is not safe which is with some bad gangs around. Dangerous to go out at night, not recommend to female travellers.

We stayed 2 nights in the hotel for a romantic weekend away - the rooms were quite small and basic (like staying in someone's house!) however it was just what we needed as we were only in the rooms to sleep..
The rest of the hotel was quirky, small and cosy as you'd expect from a small boutique french hotel. The staff there were amazing - so helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay again!

The hotel was within walking distance to a variety of tourist attractions included a very centralized bridge, Banks of the Seine, Arc de Triumph, Giant Ferris Wheel. It was even closer to the Opera house and 2 of the main shopping stores in Paris. Beware: Shopping is limited on Sundays!

On weekdays, petit dejeuner offered at hotel for a set price. Right across the street is a very nice café offering French and American coffees, pastries and sandwiches. Very reasonable. Bought breakfast treat, coffee AND a sandwich for about 6E. There was also a very good restaurant just south about a block. delicious and reasonable.

Room was efficient. Petit in size but included free WiFi, double bed, desk, full-amenities bath and great view of street. Also had a mini bar with several options to choose from.

Most impressive was the feeling that they wanted to do anything they could to make my stay better. Very charming and just what you hope for when staying in a new place. EXCELLENT Customer Service.

Location and helpful staff - best part of the stay

The Opera Deauville is located within walking distance of many of the major tourist sites and close to several metro lines, thanks to its proximity to the Gare St. Lazare. The downside of that proximity is that it's possible to hear trains as they arrive/leave the station - sometimes a pleasant sound, but it can be annoying when one is trying to sleep. The hotel is a bit tired looking - worn carpet on the stairs, peeling wallpaper. But, the hotel staff is excellent - very friendly and helpful. Having stayed at other hotels in Paris where the staff would scarcely give me the time of day, I would say that the helpfulness of the staff compensates for many other shortcomings.

We were welcomed by the very friendly staff at Opera Deauville.
It isnt your typical 5 star hotel however, it is a place to rest your head and have a shower in a great location close to Galleries LAfayette and many restaurants and 3 mins walk from Gare Saint Lazare which can get you to other places.
The staff were helpful is ordering and organising coach pickups and taxis as well as looking after our room key everytime we headed out. No matter what time you returned someone was there to unlock the door for you, so it is very secure.

Buffet breakfast downstairs every morning was good too.

Most Helpful and Attentive Staff

If you can get past the not so impressive block and the entrance to the hotel, you will find great rewards. The staff, particularly the two men who were at the desk during the day, were not just attentive, but extended themselves beyond what was required. As an older woman traveling alone, I felt very secure knowing that I could count on them for help with directions, phone calls, or suggestions. They did it all with a smile, reassurance and great humor.

The room itself was basic and small, but comfortable, with a good bed, modern bathroom, great shower, good closet space, TV, and tea maker. Most importantly it was very, very clean. I had the hotel breakfast only on my last day and found it a good value.

It is in walking distance to many Paris sites, and only a block or two from the Metro station St. Lazzare where you can catch almost every metro line in Paris.

Met our needs

The neighborhood was just ok but the hotel was very near the Gare St. Lazare train station which was a big plus for us (one day we had to catch a 7am train for a day trip to Normandy). On a busy city street but our room was on the back of the hotel so very quiet. The bed was very comfortable and large for Europe (a king!). The shower head was not functioning properly but they repaired it promptly when we mentioned it. The room was kind of dated and bare bones but adequate for our needs, including a small refrigerator. Front desk was very helpful (especially Monsieur Ed) and spoke English well. The elevator is very small but was not a problem for us. Might stay there again for the convenience and familiarity with the hotel and area.

A Great visit

Great hotel, walking distance to major attractions

Staff was wonderful Monsieur Ed and colleagues were very helpful and friendly; location was great, walking distance from major attractions, the breakfast was delicious and filling, and the dining staff were delightful.... We are looking forward to coming back to this hotel in our next visit!

Nice and quaint Hotel, close to everything.

Staff is excellent ! Bed a tad hard, room a tad small, but very quaint. You have to think that staying in a Paril hotel is more life an \"adventure\" as opposed to looking at the negatives. My room had a lovely set of two windows which over-looked the Courtyard.....slept every single night with it open. As opposed to rooms in either US or Canada, yes these rooms are small, but are functional and did the trick for me. It's the true Parisien experience. The Hotel staff was heavenly and I could not have asked for nicer and friendly people. Heck they even went out of their way to make me ice in trays every day....ice is not readily available in France. There is a bakery directly across from the Hotel and every single morning the smell of fresh baked goods would waft though my room.....heavenly. There was a tiny fridge in my room and they stocked it and took out what I didn't need in favor for things that I did.....no extra charge! The room was always very very clean...bed was a tad hard for me..but they tried to fix that as best they could for me. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

One night Stay in Paris

Very cute and efficient hotel in Paris. easy access from the rail station. Room was tiny but had everything we needed and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was air conditioned! We missed breakfast but the cost was a bit high so we skipped it!

Rooms are disappointing but staff is great.

Ok for price in Paris, but the online hotel pictures are 100 times better looking than seeing the rooms in person. Staff was excellent though.

The location was good. Staff were so friendly and helpful, but the price was too high for what they had to offer. The bathroom was too small. The pillows were smelly. There was a long walk to get to the bathroom. I won't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Super friendly service!

My husband and I booked one night here as we had a late night flight and needed somewhere to store our luggage, rest a bit, and get cleaned up. We had a great experience! The gentleman at the front desk is so very friendly and resourceful. We really enjoyed his service and visiting with him about Paris and the area around the hotel in particular.

The room was a decent size for Paris and was quite cozy. The air con worked great which was a huge plus as we were there during a heat wave. The water in the shower got plenty hot.

The location is really great. There are two metro stops within just a few minutes walking distance and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby. We wish we could have stayed longer and would definitely recommend this spot for a stay in Paris!
