The good thing about this hotel. Location.
The not so good: very small room with dated items and uncomfortable beds, bathroom was very small and shower had old barely functioning hardware, towels were rough and years past replacement.
They offer breakfast at an inflated price when there are cute alternatives within walking distance.

I would stay here again.

At first I was skeptical about staying in a local hotel that was not part of a chain. Stayed here during the Olympics. Very overpriced through hotel.com but maybe the price was marked of 500% due to the Olympics. They price gouged me. Outside of the price, hotel experience was great. Hotel has been updated and what I love most was no carpet in the rooms. This is great for persons with allergens. The elevator/lift was working when I visited. It only fits one person at a time. I found using the stairs more convenient. I only had 1 flight to go up and down. A major benefit is the close proximity of this hotel to the Saint Lazarre metro station. We rode the metro so many times and it was not more than a 6 minute walk. A few other things I liked: white bed covers, no bed bugs, no bug sitings period, brightness and cleanliness of the room, modern bathroom features, great shower pressure, rainfall shower head and handheld shower head, air conditioned rooms, free wifi, and complimentary continental breakfast. Hotel staff were very kind. Cafes and mini marts are located all around you. I would stay here again. I also felt safe in the area of town the hotel is located.

After flying all the way from australia and paying quite a high price per night we were extremely upset to find the \"Family Room\" was actually 2 separate small rooms on the same floor but no interconnecting door which meant my young daughter had to squish into a small bed with us for the three nights instead of being able to share a room with her sister. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms and with the days being 36 degrees while we were there we were unable to sleep or get comfortable, This would be expected of a cheaper hotel bit for the price we paid we expected at least a way to cool the room. The Bathrooms looked quite nice but on closer inspection they have a lot of black mould as there are no vents or drains. This was probably the most disappointing hotel stay i have had and totally ruined our stay in Paris. The only upside to this property was the lady on reception the first night we were there as she was lovely.

The cleaning staff just threw some our personal thing to the garbage.

After i complain to the manager she said that she is not responsible for the cleaning staff and give us one breakfast free without understanding our negative experience.

The room was small and strangely it for a 3rd floor room it has a slopping floor throughout. The bathroom door did not have a lock or any lind of extraction for when the shower was on. The shield was also loose and did not seal upon the bath properly causing a flood which tou then had to clean up afterwards. The biggest let down if the room was that it had no air conditioning and for a city in August and 30 degrees was awful at night. We barely slept.

The staff was great. Every time we needed something( iron/board, cork screw) they had it. The location is great. The train station with all the lines is around the corner. The WiFi was amazing. The bathroom was very nice. The room although nice was small and there was no air conditioning.

Really disappointed in the fact that there was building work in the room next door and we wasn’t made aware of this either before our arrive or at check in which would of been a decent thing to do considering I have asthma and can be sensitive to dust. First time in Paris

This little gem was the highlight of my 7 country tour. I would classify this as a boutique hotel and I love all the quirky little bits. Most important was good water pressure and temperature. The room was small but clean and the amenities in the room were excellent. The in room safe easily stored my 11 inch iPad Pro and headphones with a lot of extra room the breakfast was well made and the scrambled eggs had a texture that resembled real eggs not powdered or mushy. The staff was on site 24/7 for any needs and spoke English very well. Many eating options within yards of the front entrance, and only a min walk to the train station and 20 min walk to the city center makes this a must stay place on my next trip to Paris

This property did not neet life safety standards. It is a seven story building with five rooms per floor. The only means of egress is via a winding central staircase. There are no fire escapes. A fire on the ground level, where there is a kitchen, would trap all of the occupants of the building.

The building is not air conditioned and is very hot during the summer months.

This is a lovely little hotel, and I would highly recommend it provided you know what you're getting into. Positives: staff who are all friendly and helpful, nice buffet breakfast, comfortable bed, close to everything. Negatives: elevator fits one person and one piece of luggage; shower is about half that; bed is short, so if you are not it may be a problem, no A/C or ceiling fans.

Great stay in the heart of Paris

I appreciated the friendly checking and overall service. The staff was sensitive of language challenges and welcomed speaking the languages of their customers as needed. The hotel is older and rooms are on the small side but the surrounding area is incredible (very central to Paris sites and rail) and everything works well in the room. I did not experience street noise or anything keeping me awake at night. The cleanliness is great overall, the only item is walls could use regular wipings and/or fresh coats of paint. The breakfast was great and I consider this a safe place for women traveling alone. I was very happy here.

So very close to the train station, it’s perfect for those in transit. Comfortable bed i really slept well, view over the Eiffel Tour.

Low points: elevator not very luggage friendly, bad sound isolation, i could literally understand my neighbors’ conversation.

Recently remodeled, with beautiful wallpaper, crown mouldings, upgraded bathroom with tub, new floors, new windows & curtains. Beds were clean, firm & comfortable. Convenient location, close to everything...metro station, restaurants, attractions. Visit market across street for any needs, water, fruit, toiletries, etc. View of Eiffel Tower from upper-level room,, street-facing windows, visible at night when lit up. Typical tiny room, but felt very well taken care of during our stay. Super honest, courteous & extraordinarily hard-working staff who anticipated our needs. Breakfast is scruptious with both hot/cold items, served buffet-style in beautiful & not crowded dining room with relaxing classical music playing in background. Staff encourages guests to use it. Daughter became seriously ill during stay & Marco at Reception Desk promptly called a competent physician to come to hotel room. Following departure, Marco called to notify he would hold pair of shoes we had left behind.

We stayed here for 1 week. Our first reaction was disappointment: tiny room, no condition, no kettle, no mirror in the room, tiny tv. The hotel is old and little. But then you understand that hotel is only for night. The location is perfect, near the bus station, metro and train. Also you can walk to every sightseeing and admire the city. Want to thank the staff, they were very kind and helpful.

Small space with a smaller bathroom, not much convenient, bath towels were not properly replaced.
Location of the hotel is great due to proximity to Gare St.Lazare station and the shopping district is a 15 minute walk-away. Otherwise not much to expect from here.

Location is great, staff were excellent and breasfast was ok although we found it a bit expensive €13. It's a very old hotel with low maintenance and they don't do everyday cleaning. They didn't make my baby's cot so I had to do it everyday, they didnt make Our bedrooms and didn't vacum the room. My baby left some crumbs just by the door and they stayed there for the whole 5 days of our stay!! They give you a very little fan which it's not enough for the hot summer. Hotel
Itself becomes very hot, if you want to sleep with the windows open it wouldn't be possible as if you are in the front bedrooms it is noisy. The lift is so small that if u have a baby's pushchair it wouldn't be able to fit in there. Staff kindly offer us to leave the pushchair downstairs but we didn't want to do that. Location is good but there are some better hotels around and they could be cheaper. I can't complain about the staff, they were lovely, polite and helpful. We wouldn't stay again. not for us.

Small but nice and convenient hotel

Location is good, 2 mins walk to RER and Metro Station, less than 15 mins walk to l'Opera, Printemps, Lafayette, etc. Plenty Chinese Sichuen restaurants, cafe, bars , french cuisines and chain food stores around. Though rooms space were so small and the rooms were no electrical water pot, I'll still stay here if we travel to Paris next year.

It's in a great location, but there is currently construction across the street, so sleeping with the windows open is impossible, which isn't good in a hotel without air conditioning. Overall nice, though I did have a towel with a stain on it. But overal the hotel was great and clean other than that. Perfect for college students and people looking for an affordable option close to everything. P.s. do the l'opem tour, there's a stop at the top of the street

The room was very small. Could not sleep at night as there was no aircon. Bathroom was ok but shower was very small so if you're a big person, forget about having a shower. We booked the room for two adults and a child but we would only get two towels a day. Lift to our room could only fit two person at a time. Staff not friendly at all. Only good thing about the hotel is the distance to metro station but area around hotel very dirty and smelly. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! A terrible experience!

Great value hotel in a fantastic location.

If you are looking for a convenient hotel in a fantastic location, a very short walk from the center of Paris, with comfy beds, good showers and friendly staff then this is the one for you.

Positives:

Amazing location, 20 minute walk into Montmartre, 10 minute walk to Gard St Lazare with loads buses all over the city, or 30minute walk to place du Concorde. We even walked from Gard du Nord to the hotel and it only took 25minutes.

Really comfortable bed. It may have been how far we walked during the day or all the wine we drank, but we slept like babies. There is a building site opposite at the moment (May 2016) but it's quiet until a reasonable time in the morning. For the 4 nights we stayed in Paris, we slept well every night.

The front desk is always manned so whatever time you get back, someone is there to greet you.

Lovely bar on the corner, great for a glass of wine on the way back to the hotel

Negatives:

The rooms are a little bit warm but a fan is provided that helps.

The lift is a little bit scary, we opted for the stairs!

This is my second or third time visiting this hotel. I am a business traveler, with no family and no tourist plans, and no need for breakfast.

Since I just need a place to sleep, this hotel is great value, since similar hotels in the area (Hotel Exe Paris Centre, ATN Hotel) are little nicer but more expensive.

The hotel staff are always friendly, speak perfect English.

The room are \"just\" adequate. The walls, the hallways, the floors, the bed, the chairs, the desks, the bathroom, everything is just really old. Not in the old-world elegance sense, but in the \"old and tired, in need of maintenance or refurbishment\" sense. Some of the walls are actually somewhat dirty.

The walls are also thin, so you will hear everything that your neighbors and upstairs guests are doing. I wake up early so this was not a problem, but if you are a late sleeper, you will hear others (like me) turning on the shower early in the morning. This hotel is good value for a business traveler who wakes up early, but may not be good for someone looking for a pleasant or romantic experience touring in Paris or wants to sleep in.

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip. I wasn't on vacation, didn't have kids and didn't need to eat at restaurants. The staff at the reception was friendly and spoke great English. The room was clean and mostly comfortable, but the furniture, bathroom fixtures and walls were worn and old. There was a generally musty/stuffy smell to the entire hotel. There was only one free electrical outlet, so remember to bring electrical extensions. WiFi was easy to login and speed was normal for hotel speeds. Noise was so-so with the windows shut, but be aware that you are right next to one of the busier streets in Paris (Rue d'Amsterdam). There is a big construction project right in front of the building and I suspect this will remain for 2016. Do not expect a nice view outside the street window. Location is excellent. You literally can see the northern entrance to Gare St Lazare from the hotel, one block away. In summary, friendly and clean, but old with somewhat noisy construction in front of hotel. Good for business travelers, bur maybe less enjoyable for vacationers or families.

We were initially content with the hotel, as check in was a breeze, staff were friendly and our room was as advertised/illustrated. Nothing fancy, and good value for what they offered/the location. We were soon thereafter disappointed by a few issues that were either not dealt with properly.

First, our refrigerator smelled so disgustingly that we did not want to put anything in it. When we opened it up, the smell filled the room and lingered for hours. When we brought this to the attention of the front desk, we were advised that they would look into it, but reminded that it is a minibar (ie for items the hotel wished to sell to us), rather than a fridge (ie for us to use). The fridge was not cleaned, and the smell lingered. The front desk attendant was exceeding rude about the issue, to the point that we dropped it and refused to use the fridge.

Second, on more than one occasion a different front desk attendant demanded our room key when we exited the hotel at dinner time. This individual locked the front door at night, presumably for security reasons, which necessitated guests having to ring the door bell at the entrance. That is perfectly acceptable, but he still could not explain why room keys had to be turned in. If paying guests are already having to buzz in, and as it is a small hotel, one would think that the front desk attendant could manage who's who.

Black mold in bathroom, wifi sign on issues and more to list here, but not enough room.

Great little hotel in a good location. Found some of the staff a little strange. One just didn't want to put our luggage in the luggage room (instead she wanted to leave it all in reception!), and the other was very full on about booking the shuttle bus to the airport (really not sure why there was so much urgency or why he wanted more money as a deposit upfront than the sign at the front desk required).
Overall, if you are looking to enjoy Paris (and alllll that shopping) without blowing the budged on a hotel, this is your place. Tiny, clean and worth it.

Staff were helpful and friendly and had good level of English. Excellent location close to St Lazare railway station and within 15-20 minutes walk to nearest stop for City hop on/hop off bus tour. A reasonable choice of cafes in local area. Room, although a little small (I guess normal for Paris), was quite comfortable for our 4 day stay during which we were out most of the time. Good value breakfast available and was possibly better value than prices you would pay for similar in surrounding cafes. Hotel lift quite small but typical of those in other smaller Paris hotels.

Nice but noisy hotel

The hotel was really nice, with a very friendly, English speaking stuff. Unfortunately, my room was facing a busy street and there was awful noise coming through all night. However, it might be hard to find a quite place at a reasonable price in Paris. This hotel is very close (3 min) to St.Lazare train station and the area is full of clochards.

Prime Location

The hotel is in a prime location, very central, very close to Gare Saint Lazare and at walking distance from Moulin Rouge. The room is clean and the staff is very friendly. The only con is that the room is a bit small.

Very minimalist but cheap for the area

I really only slept in the hotel and it was fine to just sleep. The walls are thin though so you could hear everyone in the nearby rooms.

The hotel is located in a great area, close to 2 subway stations. Close to the Opera, and the shopping area. Supermarket close by. The service was fantastic, people were very kind and helpful. The room was very clean and nice. Bed was very comfy :)

Very Handy to The Train Station

We chose the Geneve for its location. It is about 150 yards from St Lazarre station. The room was very small but comfortable enough for one night. We didn't wander the neighborhood so we can't comment on that.

Good hotel for exploring Paris.

Located near the Gare St Lazare and the grands magasins (department stores), the Hotel de Geneve is perfect for exploring Paris. The staff is friendly and helpful and the rooms and common areas are clean. The rooms are typical of Parisian hotels - small but with everything you need. The breakfast buffet is very good. There are many places to eat close by, including two nice cafe/brasseries. Although it is on a noisy street, with the windows closed and the fan on I slept very well.

no a/c & lack of sockets

As with many old hotels in Paris, there was no air conditioning in the room. Leaving window open meant a sleepless night due to the incessant traffic noise.
Only 1 socket in room and that was dedicated to the TV and was 7ft (over 2m) from floor level. You had to unplug this to charge anything ! Old and in need of big refurbishment.

Good budget hotel in Paris

Good budget hotel for seeing Paris. The staff were nice and helpful. It was a good location to get where you wanted to in Paris. Typical small lift and rooms of Paris.

Good Value!

I don't think you can get any closer to the Gare St. Lazare train station than this place. I had to stay overnight in Paris to catch an early flight out of Charles de Gaulle Airport the next morning, and wanted an inexpensive room near Gare St. Lazare. It was literally a 2 minute walk from the station, in a neighborhood that had sidewalk cafes and street life.
Since I'd already paid for the room through Expedia, I had a key in my hand within 20 seconds of approaching the desk, a FIRST in all my travels.
The hotel is small, the elevator will hold one person and a suitcase, and there appear to be 3 or 4 rooms per floor in this 5 story building. The room was very small, about 2-3 feet wider than the double bed, but it was clean, in good condition, had a flat screen TV, and the biggest surprise, a brand new bathroom that was bright, modern, clean as a whistle, and had a good shower with a glass door. It even had amenities like soap, shampoo, and shoeshine pads.
For Paris, hotels at this price are usually a dump so this was a real surprise. For someone who's planning a quick overnight stay, this place is perfect. This room would be too claustrophobic for more than one person or if staying longer than one night, but it filled the bill for me. It also made it easy to get the RER to Gare du Nord to connect to the train to the airport.

A Perfectly located & very clean budget hotel with an extremely friendly & helpful staff, the only problem we faced was that our room was a bit small, though I would highly recommend it anyone.
