The outside is nasty firstly, I go in the office and it smelled horrible. So horrible 1st impression, but we were already wayyyy behind schedule and had to get ready so it was out of my hands at that moment. I get the key our room was on the 2nd floor. Get to our room and there are dirty underwear laying by the door, the room wasn't much bettter. I mean yes I get it, it was a 70 dollar room, I didn't expect much but I expected a little more than this! We aren't from grand rapids and it was 12 minutes away from the venue where our show was. So I'm thinking I found me a good deal. I was wrong we did not stay due to finding a roach in our room. The thing I found odd was the fact that the front desk clerk didn't even batttt an eye to the fact that there was a roache in the room and just gave me a refund. Although I haven't received it yet, but I'll give it a couple days as this was just last night. So I expect it to take a couple days. 0/10 DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Room was not up to code. Fire alarm was not up just wires hanging out of wall. Beds disnt fit frame bed skirt was hiding metal hooks hold box spring in place. So when i sat on side bedvwent to get up. I cut my leg. Shower was not cleaned properly. Was there for appointment in town. No alarm clock or coffeepot. Cockroaches. I was so unhappy as i stayed there couple years back. It was nothing like it was then. So run down. Couldnt find another place in town everything booked up. Alot of activity looked wrong. Was worried with my child with me. Ill never go back .

Found 2 dead roach like bugs in the room. One on the desk. 1 live spider. Wanted to microwave some food. No microwave in room or lobby but was given a key to another room that had one. Paid for at time of booking for a superior king sized bed. Expected it to be on first floor, but it was on upper level! Room wasn’t very clean, nor was the awful stairway we had to negotiate after arriving after midnight! We are a couple in our 80’s, so stairs are not easy for us anymore!
I guess I’ll should have booked a handicapped accessible room, but we are not quite there as handicapped. Live and learn, I guess, but I will never again choose a Red Roof Inn!

As for a “superior” king size room: no iron or ironing board, no hair dryer! My expectations during choosing room were most disappointing!

We booked thru Expedia one month prior. They confirmed a handicap roll out shower stall. None available upon arrival. Gave us a handicap room that had no handheld shower head or a non-slip surface in the tub. A real death trap for a disabled person. No coffee maker and other convivence items.

This place was so dirty and disgusting that even know it was free stay we left and paid $300 to stay next door at the Dury Inn Suits ) amazing place btw)! The picture of the Red Rooff Inn online is the the hotel you’re staying at. The whole building is completely run down. The doors were filthy, our bed had stained sheets and pillowcases, the toilet isn’t fastened to the floor , the bathtub was filthy floors covered in filth ect . i’ve had cleaner public gas station bathrooms than this place ! Front desk refused to move us . We were in room 211. Dury Inn Next Door is really nice!

While walking into my room, I noticed a homeless family living on the property next to the dumpster. Very sad. This is definitely a property people live in long term and there’s a lot of shady behaviors. I didn’t feel safe at all. Then entering the room the light didn’t work. Stains on the sheets, the roof is peeling off, I go to take a shower there’s hair everywhere. I left after an hour. My anxiety was too high to stay there for a night.

The room was dirty. There were stains and peeling on the walls and ceiling. There were rust stains in the sink and tub. The bed and bedding was stained. The bedding was cheap and flimsy. The mattress and pillows were uncomfortable. The furniture was cheap and every item had peeling veneer. The carpets were stained. The inside and outside of the entry doors were dirty. The lobby and rooms had a weird smell—kind of like stale smoke, dirt, and chemicals. It was very off-putting. I've been to other Red Roof Inn motels, and this one was, by far, the most disagreeable. The only good thing I can say is that it was cheap. But, as there are other motels in the area at or near the same price, I advise you skip this one.

It was the most awful filthy in sanitary inconvenient hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Ac vent fan wall unit busted. Holes in well screen bath door dirt all over walls ceiling n stains on beds. Called hotels.com and tried to chat n tried hotel office n kept getting hung up on n went to office n waited 7x n girl locked door n walked out of office as i showed up. Stay should be refunded osha should step in or tear down hotel. Reported to office in am b4 leaving.

I chose this motel for its location. It has a mini-fridge. Two HUGE bugs in the room's bathroom. Frightfully huge. My vanity sink dripped a TON and formed a lake on the room floor which took three towels on the floor the whole time to mop it up / to absorb it. My room's window did not open which was a detriment. LOTS of loitering guests (or RESIDENTS??).....rubbernecking. People drinking and doing drugs in the motel parking lot. Bed was very comfortable and was clean. RIGHT next to a gas station which was great.
Well-priced room which is another reason why I chose this place. I am not easily scared-off, so I chose this place as my motel, but others might be afraid of the bugs and the drugs. It was a bit noisy, and it had limited TV service. Towels were clean.

This property is extremely run down and dirty. The staff is nice and tries but do to I’m guessing having long term people staying the rooms are filthy, full of bugs, rusted tubs that don’t drain, water that doesn’t get hot and having to hold the handle for toilets. There are bed bugs. I’m glad I didn’t bring any luggage into the rm and upset i had to keep my dog caged the entire stay due to bugs. Not a very convenient place to stay with children or an animal. Even with the cheap price it’s not worth it. They need to burn down the bedbug infested hotel.

There was hair for some reason all over both of our beds like someone got a haircut in there.There was also trash in the trashcan so it makes me think that nobody even cleaned the room before we got in there. This hotel was so disgusting!!! The rooms were well run down with damage to the walls, doors, toilet, bath tub, beds, literally everything. Curtains were barely attached to the rod. Blankets all had stains on them or ripped. The atmosphere was more than unsettling, with people just randomly hanging out by rooms drinking and smoking weed and lord only knows what else. I had booked two rooms for myself and other friends staying, they were in total opposite sides of the property and in different buildings. When I asked to have them closer together, I was told to call the next morning and when I did the person raised his voice at me over the phone and said I was out of luck that was impossible. The woman the night before was very kind and helpful to let us know that it could be done. Just a complete disappointment to stay at this hotel. Would NEVER recommend to anyone.

Had 2 rooms for 4 ladies, but one didn't show, so I had a room to myself. Booked 2 nights. My first room had drug dealers outside at the room next door and reeked of cigarette smoke, to which I am allergic. The man in the office switched my room. The 2nd room smelled of dog, but at least I'm not allergic to dog, and the hotel does accept dogs, so no worries. Room wasn't very clean. No way I'd use the shower. Wood flooring with throw rugs that hadn't been vacuumed. My friends were in a room heavy with air freshener. Beds are 6\" mattresses. I got a text in the morning that their room had water in it, plus a bonus cockroach. Mine had a bug in the sink, but more like a flea, and it was dead. We told the office we were checking out and they could sell the room to someone else and that we'd like our money back. He did not have the authority to do that. When I tried calling the office, no one answered. My friends' room had no towels or toilet tissue. They took one of my rolls, but had to go to the office for towels. There was the Rock the Country in Hastings and a cheerleading tournament going on, and hotels were full, so I'm sure they made double the money for our two rooms on the second night. We did find a wonderful place for night two, though it was the last room available and one lady slept on a rollaway.

The staff here were super friendly and helpful, honestly can’t say enough nice things about them. Really appreciated how kind and accommodating everyone was!

That said, just a heads-up: this is definitely on the budget end of the listings, so don’t roll in expecting luxury. The place could use a bit of a refresh, some of the towels and bedding had stains, and the floors could use a deep clean. Walking in kinda felt like stepping into a Waffle House at 2AM (no hate, just vibes).

Overall, you get what you pay for, solid service and a decent stay if you manage expectations.

This was the worst experience we've ever had. The picture is from the first room they gave us, which had obviously been slept in. It was very dirty. The second room they gave us smelled so bad like animal urine (literally the worst I've ever smelled in my life) that we turned in the key and left. They rufused to give us a refund even though we did not stay there. I never in life have seen a worse hotel/motel than this. I've stay is some bad places, but never have I felt the need to leave.

The worker put us in a room that was not cleaned frim the the previous guests. There were no bedding on one if the beds no pillow cases on the pillows, food in the floor, used shampoo bottles in the shower, , used soap by the sink, he couldnt get us bedding as he said they were out. HUGE ants all over, holes in the walls, curtain rod was torn off one end of the wall, food caked on the light switch by the sink, the sink and mirror were filthy .when we first went to our room after checking in we noticed the room door was wide open, we had to have the guy at the desk come check the room before we would ever enter the room to make sure no one was in it. We asked for a diffrent room but the worker said he didnt have anymore. Due to the concert going on all the area hotels were full so we were unable to find somewhere else to stay. The next day we asked for a diffrent room and the worker said he didnt have any open,, although when we returned after the concert late Saturday night we noticed 2 empty vacant rooms. I have called several times tobspeak to manager but she isnt ever there and no callsnare returned to me. A complaint was filed and the Health department was notified as well as the BBB.

Worst property of all time. Front desk was abandoned for nearly 30 minutes and no one could check in late at night. Loud drug addicts running the parking lots all night. Every bed sheet heavily stained and large visible particles littered the entire bedsheet. Every hard surface dusty. Gunk in the bathtub floor. Walked in and could not stay longer than 10 minutes before being forced to book another stay in another town an hour away at midnight. 0/10. I would give negative stars if possible. Room was HOT - air conditioner only blew hot air. Room smelled terribly of cigarette smoke. Bedspreads had stains, there was a dead bug in one of the beds. In the shower, I found a dirty washcloth hanging on the shower curtain. Didn’t feel overly safe here.

The rust on bathroom door frame was another sign a remodel is coming. The good was plenty of hot water and air condition.

Terrible the cops busted in somebody’s room next-door. My kids and I got scared for our lives. They thought they was. My kids thought the police was coming for daddy. I had to calm him down the room smelled like wet dog. A lot of activities was going on parking lot nowhere to take your kids to.

The price was good, and while I don't expect a LOT from a Red Roof Inn, it would have been nice to have a remote for the TV, and a trash can. There were bugs inside the top drawer of the dresser, which I probably wouldn't have seen if I wasn't hunting for a remote. The bed was too firm for my liking, but ok, and I would have liked more than 2 pillows. We were in town for a concert, and the driving distance was great, and there are a lot of dining choices in the hotel area. But we left the A/C on while we were gone and came back to the room smelling of stale cigarettes and dust.

Can't clean to save their lives!

Room was dirty. Floors not vacuumed. Hair in sink. Microwave was discusting. Pillows were very small and uncomfortable.

They only saving grace was I saw a housekeeping worker and asked her to vacuum the rugs and she did it immediately.

The staff were incredible and very nice. Customer service was great. Wish room cleanliness matched.

Cheap hotel so I wasn’t expecting much

My experience was worse than I anticipated. I got there around 8pm and checked in rather quickly. I get to the room, check around it and there’s stuff on the walls near the sink and in the bathroom (the sink isn’t in the bathroom). Not a deal breaker, I knew it was a cheap place. There are stains on the lamp shades, gross but whatever. I’m looking for the tv remote to watch something to fall asleep as I have an early flight. Can’t find the remote but while lifting up pillows, I found long black hair and stains on the bedding. That’s enough for me to ask for a new room. Front desk says they’re sold out so I ask for a refund instead. He finds a new room for me. Next room, I unlock and open the door, there’s no tv like it’s been stolen. I close the door immediately and go back to front desk to tell him about it. I get ANOTHER room, but they’re sold out I thought. This room was good enough, clean enough so I stayed. But i won’t ever go back again.

I was not able to stay. Room was in disrepair and unsanitary. Sheets were stained, sketchy people were hanging around. Most occupants appeared to be living there long term. Asked for immediate refund.

Room was worn, and dirty. Chair in room was worn and broken down. Not even worthy of goodwill donation. Floor was sticky from the door to the bathroom, still looked like a pile of puke that wasn't properly cleaned up on the carpet by the door. Bath tub was cracked, peeling and looked like cigarette burns all over it. Room even smelled of cigarette. I thought hotels were smoke free for years now. The hotel was half the price as others in the area. Spend the extra to not be totally grossed out and want your money back anyhow.

VERY dirty. asked for a non smoking room and the entire room reeked of smoke. whole place needed a wipe down, all light switches were greasy and crusty. the bottoms of our shoes stuck to the floor. old gum crusted on the floor. bedsheets were stained everywhere. tried to find another place to go around us but all the hotels were booked out due to the graduation at GVSU. would NOT recommend. front desk guy was nice though, that’s why that has 2 stars- although, i did see housekeeping smoking while cleaning rooms, so that’s probably why all the nonsmoking rooms smell like that. stay away!

First of its a nice area for a motel to look to trashy for what I paid isn't acceptable
Secondly it was dirty the towels, floor, sink, desk top and smelled like so much tobacco.

Bed was covered in stains(all different colors), random hairs in the bed, large brown stain inside the bed. Floor was extremely sticky, I could hear my shoe peal off of the floor.
