My friend and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza Hotel in Victoria for 4 nights during exam season. As students paying out of pocket, we chose this hotel for convenience and paid extra for valet parking to reduce stress during long school days.

Unfortunately, on the first day of our stay, valet services damaged the front rim/tire area of my vehicle after hitting a curb while parking it. Responsibility was acknowledged immediately, and the incident was confirmed through hotel security footage and my vehicle cameras.

Although the hotel reimbursed taxi costs and covered one meal delivery, the situation still significantly disrupted our stay. During an already stressful exam week, we had to arrange mechanic inspections, open an ICBC claim, communicate with insurance, complete paperwork, and determine whether the vehicle was safe to drive home.

What was most disappointing was being told compensation would only be considered toward a future stay after we requested partial compensation for the disruption caused. Respectfully, after having our vehicle damaged through valet services, returning to the same hotel is not something we would feel comfortable doing.

While staff remained polite throughout the process, accountability alone does not undo the inconvenience, stress, lost time, and disruption caused during our stay.

Had a studio suite with 2 double beds, sofa bed, sitting area and kitchenette. nicely updated, well-equipped, contemporary and clean, perfect for a family. nice staff. good downtown location but area gets rough after 6pm ish although hotel feels safe. our room near elevator and it was a busy wkend, corridor traffic and noise one night. overall a comfortable stay.

We stayed on a weekend. There was loud party music blasting until late in the night (it’s near a nightclub) making it hard to fall asleep. The rooms are okay. The shower head pressure is insanely high, and sprayed water all over the bathroom floor, so watch out for that.

The staff was friendly and check in was easy. Unfortunately, the AC unit took up most of the window, so I couldn’t really see out very well. Bed was comfortable. There was a slight chemically smell (maybe the cleanser). The location was great and it was easy to walk to everything downtown.

Walking distance to everything!
I don't like driving in big cities, and really appreciated the valet service. Laundry service in the building was also helpful. We had a comfortable clean room, and it was quiet, we were on the 3rd floor

Booked a kitchen suite for a 4 night/5 day stay for mother/daughter weekend due to the location and Best Western brand. Check in was great. Lobby was clean and staff were pleasant. Room layout was good too. Housekeeping was the worst I have ever experienced. It's clear there is a lack of interest in the job and that management doesn't manage. I had to ask for sugar refills for my coffee, there was French fries on the floor even though we didn't have fries in the room, the shower curtain had dirt on it, there was mud/blood/something on the shower ceiling and the kitchen fridge didn't work either. I put a glass of water in the freezer overnight and it was still water the next day. I completely understand that things happen and staff did address each issue but the consistent need to reach out for basic housekeeping was gross and unacceptable. I don't work there and shouldn't need to tell staff what to do. I do expect more when paying $300+ per night.

We loved the location being right downtown and within walking distance to everything. The valet patking, although an extra cost, was an added perk as it took the pressure off of us trying to locate parking in such a busy area. Our room was spacious and very comfortable, and the staff at the front desk were very welcoming and helpful.

This was our second stay at this hotel. The location and staff are what brought us back for a second stay. The staff is very accommodating, professional, informative, and kind. Unfortunately on this trip I came down with an upper respiratory virus. The staff took excellent care of us. They brought me an extra comforter, tissues , tea, spoons for my cough syrup and more. I can’t say enough about these folks. The Ruby is connected to the lobby which is convenient. Shanzee’s is within walking distance. The Historic District, Parliament, Yates Street, Pandora, and Fort Street are all within walking distance and a must see - lots of shops and eateries. We highly recommend the Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza.Hotel.

Thanks to the downtown Best Western in Victoria for helping to make our experience a very good one. The room was very clean, comfortable temperature, stocked well (kitchenette selected). We had some small requests, met with the staff happily and promptly. Speaking of the staff, we were greeted by the friendly staff with smiles and a 'hello' when we entered the hotel with the front desk conveniently located off the main door and beside one of the two elevators. The hotel is very central, within walking distance to the many different great restaurants and stores in the area. Parking is also close by, with a short walk to the arcade close by or use of street parking. Victoria is a very pedestrian friendly city! :)

My stay was fine but my check in was not good. Frist I arrive 5 min before checking time and my room was not ready they told me to come back in 10 and I did. The the room they give me was not cleaning ready and then told me that I was gonna have to change room the next day thank goodness I did not.
House skipping never came witch I did requested.
I guess I may have been good luck. The gym is poor with equipment. Not the best.

The location is excellent as a base to explore the downtown and inner harbour areas. Everything is walkable. There are amazing shopping, dining and sightseeing spots all around. Over and above this is the staff. They were very friendly and helpful! They made our stay truly excellent!! The attached Ruby breakfast spot is also a excellent!

The hotel was clean, quiet (during the day), had a restaurant attached, had coffee machines available in the lobby, and was within walking distance to a lot to do and see.

We booked three separate rooms for two of our adult children and ourselves. We don't do "Christmas" anymore; instead, we do Christmas activities/memories.

We walked here from the ferry. It was the only time I wished that I had gotten something a little closer to our transportation because of our luggage, but other than that, it was fine.

There is a nightclub on the bottom floor, and we were located right above it, so that was a little noisy, but it didn't bother us too much.

All in all, we weren't planning on staying in the room very much, so it was just what we needed. Store our stuff, sh*t, shower, and sleep.

*This was a bundled deal with the Clipper Ferry and Butchart Gardens.

Such a great find! We had a room with a small kitchen (fridge/ freezer, oven, stovetop, microwave, dish drainer). All the needed pots, pans, etc. This was a great option for traveling with kids. We were able to eat a couple meals at the hotel, refill water bottles and pack snacks for our adventures. There are 2 grocery stores within a 10 minute walk.

We visited Victoria to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this hotel made it a truly special experience. From the start, the staff were incredible—they not only remembered our anniversary but also surprised us with a quiet, spacious room that was perfect for the occasion.

The personalized congratulatory message and the warm greetings whenever we passed by made us feel so welcomed. They even provided a bottle of wine, which allowed us to have a beautiful, romantic evening. This level of hospitality is something we haven’t experienced at any other hotel before. We are so grateful for everything and will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Victoria. A huge thank you to the entire team!

This was one best hotel stays I have had in a long time. Everyone was ultra friendly any time we were coming or going. Any time we needed help with anything- extra linens, plates and napkins- staff was happy to help. The complimentary coffee machine in the lobby was such a nice touch. The room was overall okay, but the King Size room is noticeably smaller than the standard room, which was a bit unexpected. The bathroom sink also had drainage issues and did not drain properly.

That said, the staff were excellent—very attentive, friendly, and made the stay more enjoyable.

The hotel is located in a very central area with many cute little shops, restaurants and trendy tourist sites within walking distance.
Our suite was spotless upon arrival. One thing that really stood out to our family was the friendliness of the staff. Every staff member we saw, whether it be in the lobby, an elevator or room hallways, were always so friendly and outgoing and made a point of checking in to see how our stay was going. It was quite impressive. Thanks everyone for a great stay!

I was very impressed with our recent stay at this property. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, always checking to make sure we had what we needed. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, we were not disturbed by noisy neighbours, and the location was ideal for accessing all the main attractions. The only thing we missed was a pool and/or hot tub!

our room (224)was directly above the entrance to a dance club, so there was loud music until 2 am on Friday and Saturday night. King size mattress sagged & lumpy, it needed to be replaced. Restaurant breakfast menu mostly Texmex egg&spicy veggie concoctions.Expensive menu.Many reasonably priced restaurants nearby.

Room was on 4th floor. There is a night club in the basement of hotel that creates excessive noise until 2am or later. They did not advertise the noise issue when booking but they leave you ear plugs beside your bed. Loud bass thumping noise all night long. People yelling on the street outside entrance to club. You can hear it all despite the ear plugs. Terrible experience after a long day travelling. Disappointing that the hotel isn’t transparent about the situation. Everything else about the hotel is fine.
