I absolutely loved my stay at the Craigmyle! First of all, it is located in a lovely quiet neighbourhood with beautiful greenery and quite vocal birds. Upon walking into the inn I was immediately greeted by the keeper and given comfortable slippers to walk around, we were offered a tour and notified of their breakfast. The suite where I stayed was nice and clean through and through. I’m not sure about all the other rooms, but my room had a mini fridge, a kitchen sink, toaster oven, microwave, kettle, drip coffee machine, as well as cutlery and plates. The bathroom was clean and they did let us know that they offer a guest laundry if needed. Overall I really enjoyed my stay, it is located in an area where transportation is no issue, with lots to do including a visit to the Craigdarroch museum. 10/10 this will definitely be my first choice for lodging when I go back to Victoria!

set in a tranquil, leafy neighborhood, still within easy walking distance of downtown, this exquisitely appointed home was comfortable, immaculately clean, and cozy. really comfortable bed. modest price but has the feel of luxury. it's an old property so there are expected quirks: stairs, small shower. but beautifully decorated and functional. i'd make it a go-to.

We really liked the area, quiet, bucolic, pretty and historic. The first floor of the house is lovely and very inviting. Beautifully maintained hardwood floors. Everything we needed was available and in excellent condition. The rooms are decorated with elegant touches and pretty window treatments.( Our room was the queen standard and small. My husband and I made it work, but next time will rent the next size up. )Also, there are many steps inside and some outside the house. Still, we really enjoyed our stay and the area of Victoria was very inviting without the hustle and bustle of downtown. Also, and this is very important, parking is free on the residential street right in front of the hotel! So for those who like a slower pace, this may be your temporary destination!

I usually do not write long review. Due to my job, I've travelled a lot. This one was the second hotel from this kind, I experienced once in New Zealand in a remote area in South Island. They changed an old luxury house to Bed and Breakfast at there.
This one was interesting, too. I had this chance to talk with the first owner. Very cool gentlemen.
It is another type of hotel actually. You can't see any staff, but everything is in order, clean and the neighbourhood is awesome. It is very like the old school Bed and Breakfast location. I definitely recommend if you want to stay in Victoria, try this. You will see many unusual things (in good way) start from the infront door.

Street parking with resident pass was easy to find and safe. Room was clean, charming and well appointed. Guest laundry, guest kitchen, lovely sitting room. Close to everything. 20 minute walk to downtown with shops and restaurants along the way. Would recommend for a quiet getaway.

The room was clean and beautiful however I throught it was divided since it mentioned a separate seating area. It wasn't. The bed and the Sofabed are in the same room. I was hoping for more privacy and have one bed separated. This is a self check-in guesthouse however I was surprised to see that someone was there to assist briefly till 5:00 pm. The property is beautiful and well kept. The common kitchen, dining area were great.

The Craigmyle was perfectly located in a beautiful, quiet neighbourhood filled with incredible homes. Plus - a castle, right behind it! What's not to love about that?

The entire place was spotless and so, so comfortably furnished - both public spaces (special shout-out to the sunny wrap-around breakfast room!) and suites made for settling in and relaxing. No TV was an absolute bonus!

We used the kitchen facilities - very handy and also spotlessly clean. Parking was on-street and easy to find.

We \"splurged\" a whole $10 on breakfast and were so glad we did. Perfect end to our too-short stay.

Clean and simple accomodations. Does not have 'all the modern conveniences' but does have all the necessities. We came for one night and didn't spend a lot of time, but it was quiet for sleeping and restful.
Were the last to park and had to walk around the corner, but we expected to be late and this could happen.
We really like the place and would return.

We went for a short weekend trip in victoria and although the Craigmyle met our needs in terms of a place to stay that was minutes away from downtown and affordable, we did find that parking was not always abundant. The parking was limited on the street and it really depended one what time of the day it was. The bathroom sink was alot smaller than your average sink and the walls were paper thin. We also found that the water dispenser downstairs in the kitchen was not working properly. Overall it was a decent place to stay for a short trip with the check in and check out process made very simple. It was definitely a home with character. I also like that they provided slippers to all guests.

Laundry room with irons etc was convenient. The staff were accommodating and pleasant. There was access to extra coffee tea from the guest kitchen to replenish our kitchen in the garden suite. There were no teaspoons (just 2 large spoons) & not much sugar or coffee in the suite so had to go on a scavenger hunt to the guest kitchen upstairs. If we were missing something we could usually find it in the guest kitchen. The large common area was right above our bedroom area &, being an old building, noise, in the form of excessive thumping & banging was loud in our room feom upstairs - not a major problem until people were up there after 10 pm when we were trying to sleep &/or simply relax. The bedroom configuration didnt allow for any (even tiny) nightstand but instead there were awkward gaps between the bed and the built in closets beside it where items could fall down but we couldn't set anything down in that area. We were told there'd be plenty of Residential parking on that side of the road but for 2 of the 4 nights we couldnt find any & had to park & walk from other streets (even then, spots were hard to find). Im not sure that parking rules are enforced & not sure how they could be.

Perfect for anyone who wants to experience living in an authentic Victoria heritage home—but without the black mould! We lived in Victoria for over 25 years in homes in the same area and from the same time period, and the care, attention and love the owners have paid to the Craigmyle is incredible! The guesthouse is super well-maintained, and quintessentially Victorian (literally on historic Craigdarroch Castle’s doorstep), but updated in all the right ways (new windows and bathroom fixtures! Did I mention no black mould?) Located in Rockland, a beautiful, walkable, suburban neighbourhood, street parking is free (provided pass lets you use Residential spots), plus public transit is steps away, making it simple to get anywhere in the city no matter how you are getting around. Breakfast downstairs in the common area (only $10 extra—fill out order form on arrival) smelled terrific, but I was not sure there would be vegan options and I needed room for my Discovery Coffee Almond Milk mocha and giant Green Cuisine lunch. Will be back for sure!

Beautiful room and I loved having my own bathroom. The common areas were also very nice and well-decorated. I loved the complimentary coffee every morning and it was some of the best coffee ever. The room was a bit too warm, but they had a nice noise machine/fan which helped. It was a very quiet place which I appreciated. Loved it!

The breakfast ($10) was good. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. The stairs helped us get our daily steps in! And it's a short walk to the Government House trails, which was awesome.

Man was I hoping to love this place, however it fell short in a few areas. 1. It was freezer, there was no heat, we asked the staff for a heater however they brought us a fan instead thus sleeping with our hoodies and pants on. Also we noted silverfish in our room as well. The positives are - the staff was extremely nice, they honour the history of the building and it’s like you’re in a time capsule of history the common area was impeccably clean and welcoming.

The Guesthouse is in a lovely old neighbourhood about a 20 minute walk from the Inner Harbour. Craigdarroch Castle is next door and the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is close by. The decor is traditional and you can pay $10 for a traditional egg and bacon breakfast with a warm croissant and jam. There is also a guests' kitchen where you refrigerate or store food.

Appears that the Craigmyle, built in 1912, is the oldest B&B in Victoria. The building is in excellent historical condition & it was nice to be situated directly across from the castle. Rooms are a tad small, but clean & well kept. There is no A/C or elevators. Staff are friendly & accommodating. We enjoyed the $10 breakfast along with complimentary coffee & tea. The common areas of kitchen, living & dining room are cozy, well kept & inviting. Kitchen area is convenient for preparing your own meals & snacks. Location of Craigmyle is a 20-30 min walk into the downtown area with shops & restaurants along the way (Fort St), bus stop nearby.

We were very disappointed with our room at the Craigmyle. I booked two rooms, one for myself and my husband and one for our cousin and her husband (room #103 and104). We paid the same amount for both rooms yet our bathroom was ridiculously smaller. There was absolutely no room for toiletries, a stand up shower only, and the sink was so small. Our relatives had a much bigger bathroom with a tub and space for their toiletries.I don’t understand why both rooms cost the same. Very disappointing. I will never book here again.
