We were looking for a cheaper option in the city. The hotel was adequate, but with the limited rooms there was no staff to support. Door “keys” are punch codes, which were not responsive, it took many attempts with the codes to get into our room each time. Easy drive to downtown tourist area.

It was like a DIY motel with no one on duty most of the day. You had to have a code to enter. I called ahead about early check in and was told it would depend on availability. However when we got there, no one was there and we couldn't use our code at the entrance until exactly 3:00.

Pros: The reception less check in is great. They gave me the room number and code to get in beforehand. No need to rush to check in. Breakfast staff cleaned the tables promptly. She did a great job. Selection is also good. Bathroom is clean, but with a little bit of smell.

We stayed at this hotel on our last night in Reykjavík. The hotel is in a multistory building. There is no reception or full time staff that we could see. We entered the building and our room using key pad codes emailed prior to check in time. It was smooth, no issues. The hotel is on a main road in a residential area. Plenty of parking in front and on the streets around the building. Nice BF in the morning. Good choice for a short stay in transit

Only problem I had with hotel there was no real full time front desk. Only way to enter was with a code they sent via email. As in my case we got it while still in transit and did not write it down and then the email disappeared when I went to pull it up and could not enter lobby until someone exited the front door. Then we had to wait for hotel employee to complete check in

Not what I expected and a bit difficult to fond (no big sign!). But, a fantastic room on the ground floor, and an amazing shower room. Tea/coffee 24h and so clean all the time! Breakfast was a continental-style meat, cheese egg buffet with salmon and caviar. Only 15 mins ealk from town and really quiet. The hotel was absolutely perfect for what I needed!

Clean but small room with no closet, just a very high rack above a small cabinet where you can put your cloths. The room had a mini fridge but no microwave available. Room was cleaned daily but floors not alway swept. Front desk minimal but contact number for any needs. Nice Icelandic style cold breakfast (smoked salmon, cold cuts, cheese, boiled eggs, breads, yogurt, cereal). Parking free on property but not an actual lot, just open spaces and street parking adjacent. We managed to park everyday. Hotel and room access with key codes - no keys- which I liked. Nearby (2 blocks) cafe, convenient. store, and sausage/ice cream fast food. Convenient fir driving out of town but a little far to walk to downtown. Would stay again if I had a car or arranged transport.

Great place to stay everything you need without the frills. Handy for walking into Reykjavik. Restaurants within walking distance or bus stops close to hotel to allow you to check out more places. Staff really friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. Great selection of food for breakfast. Really quiet despite being close to the road.

Great place to stay right off the city center
Located in an off-the-city-center neighborhood, we had a comfortable bedroom on the bottom floor, small room but we had what we needed. The shower is opened, so it was a bit of a water mess around, heated floors sort of helped cleared it out. Toiletries and a hair dryer are available.The breakfast buffet was OK but limited, enough to get something to eat before taking off. Check-in and check-out was pretty straightforward and didn't require human interaction as the doors are code accessed. Being on the bottom floor makes it so that you are in an area common to the laundry machines and next to the breakfast room, not private at all (we could hear noises real early in the morning), I advise to request rooms in any other floor. The place has an elevator. The parking area is right outside the building, not really well signaled, holds around 4-5 cars, parking on the streets is also free. The area has about 2-3 places to eat (local restaurant and coffee shops) that are quite good and at walking distance. It is also close to many main streets where you can catch buses or call a cab, but if you have a car, is quite handy as parking is free. If you do not have a car and are in tourist mode, it is way more convenient to stay closer to the city center, although the car rides from here are not longer than 6-8 minutes into the city center. Great place to stay.

It is in a terrific location, very close to a few key attractions in Reykjavík. The room was modern and clean. We did have a very noisy bathroom fan that didn’t turn off but the property addressed the issue right away and we were able to get a good night’s sleep without any noise problems. Room #201 was very warm. The window was very small and did not let in much cool air. The room was very close to a busy road. The room window was very close to a street light that made the room too light during sleeping hours. Breakfast was very good.

It was cute and modern. Although our room was on the road, we still got sleep as it was 30 walk to city center. Very clean and the staff was amazong and helpful.. the whole time. Breakfast was great and the women stocking the counter top with more food were very nice. Safe and security entry with keypad code and elevators. 24 hour coffee and tea bar with real mugs, silver and plates. When we went to leave for the airport, our transportation never showed up and i was frantic. The 2 young ladies were so helpful in making calls to transportation company. We will miss this home away from home.

The stay was good. This is more like renting a furnished apartment for a few days than staying in a hotel, but it was quite spacious and had all the facilities you would expect in an apartment, including a kitchen and a washer and dryer. The hotel is on the east side of the city, although you can walk into the middle of town, it is far enough out to park a car on the street easily, which is what we did. The heat in one of the rooms wasn't working properly, but otherwise it was very comfortable. Wi-Fi was excellent.

We really enjoyed our stay here. It was far enough out to be in a quiet neighbourhood but still within a reasonable walk from the centre. The room was spotless and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful including taking care of a postcard when I couldn't find a post box nearby. Would certainly visit again.

We stayed at the Nordurey Hotel City Garden recently for 4 consecutive nights and stayed in 4 different rooms in July
This was due to a foul smell in 2 of the rooms.
Both rooms smelt like dirty drains
It was noted by the hotel on arrival they couldn’t identify the cause of the smell and attempted, unsuccessfully to use room spray to cover the smell up
We were moved the next day into another room that was Ok
for one night only because the following day we were asked to move again from that room because someone else was due to arrive and amazingly were moved to another offensively smelling room.
We asked on our last night of our stay (the 4th night) to be moved from this second sticking room to another one
The staff were extremely obstructive but eventually conceded
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone due to the way that this situation was handled

Great breakfast. Our room had underfloor heating which couldn't be adjusted by either us or the staff! It was really stuffy in the room, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Our room overlooked the main road, so leaving the window open at night was quite noisy even with ear plugs in. Staff were apologetic but this needs to be addressed. Good location if you have a hire car as you can park in front of the hotel.

Nordurey Hotel-- great bang for your buck
We stayed one night at this fairly modernized, very clean and accommodating hotel just on the outside of downtown Reykjavik. Location wise, it is only a short drive (2-3 minutes) into the heart of the city, where most shopping and restaurants are, in addition to the famous church and Harpa Concert hall. Room was fairly limited in space, however very clean and tidy. Bathroom was very modern and clean with a great shower and all amenities (i.e. shower caps, bath soaps, towels, etc). Breakfast was included and it was your basic european breakfast with assorted fruits, breads, jams, hardboiled eggs, meats and cheeses. Great hotel for the price and great location as well, definitely recommend to anyone visiting beautiful Iceland.

This is a lovely hotel, beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, comfortable rooms and nice breakfast selections (although no hot food). Staff were helpful and friendly throughout. Easy to find and access.
The only disadvantage is the location, it is at least a 20 minute walk from central/downtown Reykjavik. The walk is pretty, along the coast, we didn't mind but travellers less inclined/able to walk might find it too far.
