Small lodge hotel, the room I had was a 2 star in comparison to other hotels I stay at. Very loud up till 11pm with the pool table being right next to the room in the bar. The food in the restaurant in the evenings was really good. Breakfast was average. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The shower sealant was mouldy. The shower had zero water pressure. The toilet roll holder wasn’t properly attached to the wall and fell off. The door to the bathroom wasn’t the right size and hit the floor when you tried to open it, which is dangerous. The door to the bathroom also didn’t close properly and could only be closed if it was locked.
The mattress was a box spring and clearly at the end of its life because we could feel every single spring throughout the night. The room lacked visible sockets for hair dryer or straighteners.
There was no box to leave the key in when checking out. There was no staff on th desk either so I had to email and phone to ensure the key was received back.

Room was very clean although too hot. Reception and restaurant staff very helpful and courteous. The only down side with the room was no chair the rooms need to have a chair as sitting on the bed is not comfortable.

My honest review is this is a no frills hotel, but still a good one. The people working here are hard workers and very kind and generous with their time. Tracy and Julie particularly went out of their way to make sure my mum and me were comfortable during our stay. The food was good and the pub had great energy. Overall, if you’re okay with a bit of a small room this place is great for the value.

That’s one of the best hotels I’ve been to! What more could you ask for? A clean room, a safe place, a perfect restaurant with tasty food and perfect portions, and all at an affordable price! I’ve received two orders from Shein and thanks to the wonderful staff, they kept them safe and handed them to me upon my arrival! 😊 Literally all the staff are super friendly - the baristas, the restaurant’s waitress, room service, and the receptionist! And guys, they give you a chocolate with mint like a coin, it’s so cute (compliment, actually!) and tasty ☺️ Thank you for the perfect stay!

Very friend staff. I stayed in room 12 which was lovely and clean. No stains on carpets or walls. Clean toilet and shower. Free tea, coffee and biscuits in room. Bed sheets where clean, even a litte chocolates on the pillows. No horrible smells in the room, and a good size tv. Amazing for the price. I would definitely recommend. Close to livingston centre, and st Johns hospital.

Well I paid less than £35 for a single room only arrangement and it was worth it. Room was ok, nice and warm,car parking and reasonable WiFi. About the only thing that I noted that the shower head was quite black and needed cleaning, didn't bother me because it was a good deal for the price.

Good. I was a bit worried after reading the reviews however, it was cheap, cheerful, can’t really complain. Bed was a bit uncomfortable but for the price we paid, it’s hardly worth mentioning. Towels weren’t changed which is fine, but one was taken and not replaced which was a bit awkward. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, can’t fault them. We did require assistance at around 10pm one night and no one was on the desk, however, they may have been at the bar, I just didn’t try there, as it was not important enough for me to go searching for someone. Overall, if you want something cheap, near to the train station, St John’s hospital, and the shopping centre, it’s a bargain. One other thing, they don’t have Uber there because it was killing local taxi companies business, but they do have very cheap and efficient private taxis for around the same price point, the staff were very helpful and provided a few numbers. I would recommended if you’re looking for something affordable and somewhere to rest your head. It’s no frills, but worth the money.

No heat in the room that we could find but the hallway was very warm. We propped open our door and the room warmed up. Lighting on the outside of the building is poor. Luckily I had a small flashlight. Lots of walls etc Painted black so hard to see at night. Not far is a grocery store and Greggs (donuts and hand sandwiches). This hotel is a long ride to Edinburgh by taxi.

Avoid booking!!!! Failed to deliver what a standard bathroom of hotel should provide - poor condition with no toiletries, water cannot be gone in bathing area, your foot will just keep soaking in the dirty water. Didn't meet the criteria of what they list out. Tried to ask for staff's assistance but they just said nothing can help with. What a nightmare to stay in this 'hotel'.

Didnt know that the reception area did not open until check in time at 2pm and it was disappointing after being delayed and not being able to checkin but let me tell you. Im so sorry i didn't get the receptionist/maids name but she saw us outside and opened up just to let us in. Thats called Great Customer Service. Plus she checked on us and made sure we settled in. Our trip was to visit friends and we booked here to be close to them however the room was small and basic the bed wasn’t very comfortable and we didn’t see any reception staff except the trainee on our first day. Only the cleaners. It felt like a hostel with us having to lock the door when we left our room instead of an electric lock. And having a key pad to get in and out of the block. It was clean but our towels wasn’t changed for the 3 nights we stayed. Also our view was a block of residential flats straight across so we had our blind down all the time for privacy. Disappointed overall. And no breakfast at the hotel.

Windows need replaced could hear everything all night and didn’t sleep at all. You have to push the bathroom door open over the uneven floor which makes a horrendous noise. Place is quite dirty looking.

I booked this properly as it was only 15 minutes back To the airport drop off for my hire car following a 2 week holiday to Scotland, including Edinburgh and the Scottish Highlands. The room, bar and restaurant were all right next to each other which was convenient and I was suprised how quiet it was when sleeping which was great.
The staff that served me at the reception and restaurant were all very polite, friendly and efficient and there was a good choice of meals on the menu.
The property is not too far from Edinburgh and the airport but in the close by area there is not much to do near close by to the hotel.

2 night stay between flying back from a personal holiday and needing to be in Edinburgh for business so opted to stay locally instead of unnecessary mileage.

Our twin room (Rm 11) was compact but fine for our needs (staying overnight before collecting someone from hospital in Edinburgh). Shower room was spotlessly clean but the door to it creaked loudly. The carpet has seen better days. We shut the sliding wardrobe doors when we saw what appeared to be dead centipedes, later discovered to be a previous occupant's false eyelashes! The room was far too hot and we dispensed with the duvets for most of the night. Beds were comfortable.

Our room wasn’t available on the first night so we had to stay in a different one to what we booked (two single beds instead of a double bed). The first room was very dirty, and the radiator didn’t work, which left us feeling cold the entire night. The bar was also very noisy, with guests drinking and shouting until the early hours of the morning. Hotel staff were initially reluctant to move us to our original room, but eventually obliged after I told them about our experience. After this, we were moved to a room that was far better, and akin to what we expected on arrival. There were no more issues after that. The room was clean, the radiator worked, and we could no longer hear the noise coming from the bar.

Not bad, not great... a good little spot to put down your head. No frills, but for the price it's not bad. Rooms are a tad dated, and the beds could be comfier (2 flat pillows aren't enough) but overall its a good nights sleep.

Noisy. Don’t accept a room in the ground floor. You will hear every single step from the room above you! And when you want to leave, if the reception guy forgot to tell you to place the keys in the letter box(!!!) you will end up not knowing where to leave them as you won’t have any access to the reception before 9am!!

Hotel room was very clean and reasonably comfortable, though the whole place looked a little tired and needs updating. There are no breakfasts at present which was disappointing as we had to drive somewhere to find somewhere for breakfast. There is a co-op nearby and there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room so we managed. The walls were thin, so we could hear other guests in the early hours and the bed springs were a little creaky. The shower took a little working out as the controls were the opposite of what would be expected, however once worked out it was adequate. We ate in the attached Oscars restaurant on our first evening and the food and service were very good. Reception and cleaning staff were very friendly.
