The location is not too far from Edinburgh Airport and a pleasant 25-30 minute walk to my meeting at Heriot-Watt University. It's also on the #44 busline for access to Edinburgh, and only a 15 minute walk from a train station where I could catch a local train to Glasgow.

Stayed for two nights on a room-only basis. The room was clean, comfortable, and had all the basic amenities needed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant, but the food looked and smelled delicious. Would definitely stay again.

The only complaint and not so much a complaint the bathroom is very cold maybe just needs a little heater or something the toilet seat was cold to sit on first thing and getting out the shower was a shock but lovely hot water and lovely spacious bathroom nice and clean with toiletries provided , would definitely stay again and will probably book again in the summer!! Great place with great staff and easy to find plenty of shops and not far from the city centre!

Dedicated free parking at the back & a bus stop out front which takes you straight into Edinburgh until very late. The food was delicious & the locals friendly. Bedrooms have smart TV’s which is miles ahead of most hotels/inns. Would definitely recommend staying here to anyone choosing to visit Edinburgh

My flight was delayed but the staff was helpful in providing instructions for after midnight check in. The area looked completely deserted and my taxi driver was concerned since I am an older woman traveling alone, and my confidence was proven correct. The instructions were clear and worked perfectly. The room was comfortable and clean, just what I needed after dealing with 2 connecting flights and hours of delays. Highly recommend for affordability and quality. Wish I had time to enjoy the pub.

This is an inn whose primary purpose is providing excellent food and drinks to their guests and the wider community. They happen also to have five en suite rooms to let.
I was not their ideal guest in that I have digestive issues which mean my diet is very restricted, especially when I’m travelling. Consequently, the food and drinks side of things was irrelevant to me. I made do with the local supermarket, knowing what I safely can and can’t eat.
But for the vast majority of their guests, I’m guessing this is foodie heaven. So other reviews would suggest.
I can only judge from the accommodation angle, which is perhaps unfair.
The room was quiet, an acceptable size but in need of some TLC. The wifi was slow and clunky. But, on a positive note, the price was more than reasonable, to be honest, the only reason I chose the Riccarton Inn. There is a bus to Edinburgh city centre right outside that takes around 35 minutes, it seems to go every 15 minutes or so. The local supermarket, a few minutes walk away, is well stocked with basics and run by a local family who work very long hours, from 7am to 10pm weekdays, slightly less on weekends.
As I said, I’m not their prime demographic, so in a way this is an unfair review. I wouldn’t go back because the comfort levels weren’t high enough. But, if good food is a priority in your life, then go for it.

The Inn has an antiquated toilet- the type where the water tank is up high then you pull a chain to flush. Light fixture in the bathroom is a chain pull as well. Although old everything worked as it should.

The Riccarton has good food but it’s not a great place to stay. The room was small and windows were right onto the outdoor seating & terrace. Since we were there on a Monday, there weren’t many people, but even so it was distracting. When I complained about the room being cold I was told nothing could be done. Imagine my shock when I raised the shade completely in the morning and discovered both windows at the top were open - and could not be closed. Finally, I asked for a taxi to be called for 6:30am and apparently the woman never did that because it never arrived. We had a flight to make and ended up calling an Uber.

Check in was easy and staff friendly. The room was clean. Even though it was a busy night at the pub with the quiz night you couldn’t hear it inside the room. One are for improvement is the check out method. The notice in the room says that if you plan to check out ‘very early’ please let a member of staff know to be told the key box code. In our minds this would around 6 or 7am and so we didn’t ask the staff. When we were ready to check out the next day at 9am there was no one there or anyone to contact and we therefore has to change our plans for the day to wait until after 10am when some staff arrived. Clearer communication on the check out method would have improved our stay.

When I went in Riccarton Inn, there was strong and disgusting smell of urine through my nose into my mind that I at once thought I have to leave there immediately, even though I sleep in car all night long and waste my rental money. I hope they would improve after reading my review. (No malice)

The riccarton inn is an old style coaching inn...it is cosy and full of character...the food is delicious. The rooms are clean but basic. They have en suite facilities...tea and coffee making facilities and a TV. The bed has cotton linen on it and they provide towels. It is ideally located on a main bus route into the city centre only 20-25 mins away. They don't provide breakfast but the room itself was only £58 for an overnight stay which is great value for Edinburgh. We had a comfortable night's sleep and would recommend this accomodation for any occasion.

The room and bathroom were large enough to move about. The towels and bedding were top notch! Hazel and her staff were wonderful! The bus stop in front of the building was a very convenient and economical way to go into the city center. We would return in a heartbeat!

Stayed the night before an early flight from Edinburgh, so handy as it was so near the airport. The single room was basic, but fine. The pub restaurant however was fantastic - great atmosphere, good choice of beers and wine, amazing food, and friendly service. They don't do breakfast, which wasn't a problem for me, but may be for some. Would definitely stay again.

Great place to stay for the price, with fantastic transport links into Edinburgh City Centre and their own parking, would definitely stay there again if I had an event in Edinburgh. Sadly I didn't get to try their food as I was not around for mealtimes but the menu looked lovely and also very fairly priced. The 11am checkout time is great and they were really friendly about me being a little early for check-in after a long journey

Stayed for the Tattoo - very reasonably priced when other hotels charge through the nose!! Pub/Restaurant excellent - lovely food - had evening meal and 2 breakfasts - all excellent so well done to the chef!! Rooms basic and in need of a wee makeover (esp bathroom in room 5) - otherwise, cant fault it at all. Also on main bus route - very good bus service - got into the city centre in 20 minutes. Would definately stay again - thanks to all

We had a pleasant stay the staff were fantastic and location good for fhe airport and access ti the city by public transport. The accommodation is dated and needs some renovation shower constantly on super hot. Restaurant was good evening meal was fantastic but breakfast very greasy and not value for money. We would stay again if in Edinburgh again but avoid room 5 as nextvto beer garden and car park so noisy at most times. The evening barcteam were friendly and helpful and would recommend the chicken haggus and bacin pie and hazy local ipa beers.
