The bed and pillows as always really good. However the seal was damaged at window and as it was windy the curtains were blowing and the room was cold. We were ok once we turned up the heating. Also the ironing board cover was old and damaged so it wouldn't stay on iron. That said I did appreciate actually having an iron.

Room was very tired and in need of TLC this really ruined our honeymoon we paid hilton prices and got a days inn of quality. Found the bar and restaurant under staffed could not get service so only used once and went elsewhere stayed 3 days and we used a days inn which was of better quality and we didnt have to share a towel like the hilton

The meal in the restaurant was very below standard, got the burger and a steak and both were put together with cheap ingredients and not cooked properly, burger bun was soggy, beef patty was both under cooked and dry and the steak was served in a pool of its own juices so was clearly not left to rest. rhe

Breakfast was good, wide selection but expensive at almost £20 per head. Enjoyed a Burn’s night supper in the function room, the staff waiting on were exemplary, very professional, the food was tasty and well presented, overall an enjoyable stay.

As for comfort and boarding accommodation, I will give credit where it is due. With that being said, I think the hotel is a little out of the way for non-drivers. You have to take a train outside of Edinburgh and walk up and down long steps to go under a bridge. If you’d like to catch a cab back into Edinburgh, good luck, as the hotel and Uber company does not have a contract where Ubers can’t pick you up at the hotel. They offer you a car service that is extremely expensive as an alternative. There is no shuttle as a courtesy to bring people to and fro from the nearest train station. You are literally stranded after 9pm, especially on holidays. If you are driving, this is the perfect place. If you are not driving, and you have luggage, stay in the Edinburgh city trust me.

The hotel itself was outstanding. The staff also very accommodating and the views and location of the hotel fantastic. However, there was a bit of a issue with overcharging of the rooms which has yet been resolved and a charge placed on room service which has also yet to be resolved once this has been resolved I’m inclined to give a four star review. The room was a little bit concerning for the calibre of this hotel as the bathroom had some very visible cracks over the ceiling and there was mildew around the bath area very noticeable. Hence the lower rating in general too.

It is a 4 star Hilton hotel always busy and that's why I think the staff can treat you as they like .Personally I thought there were rude .If you ask for something they look at you annoyed. What shocked me most was hearing the footsteps from people above our room .The pillow and the duvet felt like they were covered with plastic sheets, ,couldn't sleep all night .The area felt very safe and looking at the bridges across the road it is a stunning view.

Overall the stay was great. The bed was a little hard, but that's a personal preference. Had an issue with the refrigerator and tried to call to front desk for help, but no answer. I had to go down to the front desk to ask for help. The front desk person didn't seem too concerned even after I told her that I had leftovers that I didn't want to spoil. We had two people to come up and fix the refrigerator shortly after. They were helpful and kind, they offered to take my food downstairs to the refrigerator. I very much appreciated that.

The Double Tree Hilton at Queensferry is typical of a large faceless sterile hotel where the staff don’t show any care. Unfortunately I was on 6th floor (top floor) which received the full effects of Storm Amy. Nobody enquired about the quality of my stay under the circumstances.

At the Double Tree in July 2025.
We found our stay at the Double Tree near Edinburgh comfortable, but the mini fridge in our room and the extractor fan in the bathroom were broken. Breakfast was good, which consisted of a buffet with lot of choice. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. There is also free parking and a great view of the Queensferry Crossing Bridge from the Shore Restaurant.

Although next to the forth bridge be mindful that most rooms that look out over the bridge are noisy. We had to upgrade to a better room as we are both very light sleepers and the noise from the traffic over the bridge was too noisy for us. On the whole the hotel food was good. Staff were most helpful and the location good. We got the train into Edinburgh from Queensferry north which is a 20 minute walk away from the hotel. Train into Edinburgh takes around 25 minutes. Would I go here again? I would but would go for a room without the view.
