The room was excellent, huge ceilings, lovely and clean. It was in a great spot as well; just a few mins from the central square. Really nice place.
The only two things that let it down - the shower, we had to sit in the bath as it was attached to the taps. Felt like it could have easily had room for a proper shower. Second - it was roasting beyond belief. I like to be warm but this was another level.

1. They messaged us at midnight before we were due and said a payment had failed. We used a third party booking site and had paid in advanced so this caused us undue stress. Luckily it did get resolved. However, they didn't acknowledge it when we arrived.
2. There was a lot of noise on the Saturday morning as a bunch of work men were pottering near our room. It was going on fairly early.

The hotel location is perfect. Within walking distance to all the tourist attractions. Front desk staff are very nice and efficient. Hotel buffet style breakfast was pretty good. However, i would like to point out sone inconvenience of the hotel so future travelers can be aware : the front desk are not 24 hours. Another inconvenience was the hotel is a very old building so there was no elevator and no air condition. We didn't need air condition as it was in end of September but i assume in summer it could be hot. Also i booked a family suite room. There was no shower but a bathtub located 7 steps down from the bathroom makes me not feel comfortable. It might be hard for old travelers who has knees problems as you need to walk down 7 steps to get the bathtub. I will appreciate if hotel.com throu which i booked the hotel can disclose these room conditions.

Location is superb and the staff is wonderful! They are doing everything they can to make up for the shortcomings of the ownership. It would appear that there is no need for repeat business and that is the feel I got from the 3 night stay. At arrival I found the bathroom unclean - so I cleaned it - the body towel was totally frayed and looked like something I would use to mop the floors with. The shower door was broken and only hanging on the upper rollers letting the water spray around, Ferdo Mravenec with the family also lives in the bathroom. I reserved a standard double room - but since I was alone, they only made up half of the bed and left half of it a bare mattress (which didn’t look that fresh)!! Absolutely ridiculous! So I asked for the other spreadsheet and did it myself. Mini-fridge was dirty and had something dark spilled in it.
Since my room faced the courtyard, every night around midnight I heard the staff from the restaurant next door leaving/yelling - since their back door leads into the courtyard and then banging and shouting at 5am when they were coming in. I understand the noise in a city as I live in a very busy city as well, and Prague is a relatively quiet city, but this was hard to ingnore.
Overall, regardless of the location it is not worth it. There are many other places, in the same and nearby neighborhoods, that I will book next time as I come to Prague almost every year…

Every staff we met was very friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant stay. The location is perfect, literally 2 mins walk to the old town square. They offer secured luggage storage up until 10 pm. The building is a little old but everything else is perfect. Would highly recommend!

Courtyard sweet and a good place to come back to rather than go to a pub etc ..but we were told one evening that it was time we went to bed at 10pm because the staff on the top floor could hear us talking!!! We were playing cards and whispering as we got told the same the night before ..ridicilous ..we were so fed up that in the end we didn't do another night in the courtyard as clearly they don't want guests using it..We did wonder why it was so empty on Our first night ..no doubt the same had been said to previous guests..so a lovely place but that was very dissapointing being spoken to like we were loitering in a place we had paid to stay with use of all amenities

I loved staying here. Old-style European hotel, good cake shop in the lobby and incredible Thai food in the restaurant. Just steps from old town square, which means it can get a bit noisy at night. But not so much! I’d stay here again.

This hotel was charming and located 3 min from the old town square. The room was very spacious with super high ceilings. The vintage furniture and the feel of the place were incredible. As expected, no elevator but the stairs were wide and comfortable (was doing carry on only so had no issue. The hotel had dining options, though I did not use them. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel.

It was neither good nor bad. So so for me. I was expectibg more from a 3 star hotel. Ive stayed in many 3 star hotels and this is by far the worst. No separation between showers and floor so the whole floor often gets flooded after a shower. Also, in the morning, its often noisy outside which affects my sleep. I can hear the noise in the room next door too unfortunately. The hot water was limitied. After a while it becomes cold. But the bed was fine. The good thing is the location. Its a 2 min walk from the old town

Great customer service for a brief stay! Hotel employees can speak English. The building is historic but is well maintained. I appreciate that they were also able to store my luggage. Everything was clean. Someone traveling from the US, who is accustomed to boutique style hotels, would feel very comfortable here. The location was perfect, just a one minute walk from the town square with a beautiful Christmas market.

The hotel was hard to find. The room is upstairs and there is no elevator. It was kept very noisy all night long by partying and fighting people in the street below. The windows blocked out the noise, but we couldn't keep the windows open for a breeze. The tub has no shower. HOWEVER, the room is right off the old town square, so it couldn't be more convenient.

A basic property, good location in central old town Prague. No public transport needed. Staff helpful, kind and caring and went out of their way to help us. (Our shower broke and heating wouldn’t turn off) there is work needed to maintain standards in the hotel. Noisy courtyard kept us awake with guests talking or deliveries from 8am every morning.

A very old building with high ceilings. Our room was large with a separate dressing area. There was a courtyard where you can sit with drinks.

Always thought of stopping here as been to Prague 30 plus times. Like the cafe on ground floor. Room was infested with ants. They stated had been cleaned for 3 hrs yet when we went back in there was same piece of paper on floor? We then killed 15 ants in 3-4 minutes. They moved us to another room and same again, infested with ants, so they then moved us to a different floor. We now had no ants, along with no coffee for the coffee machine. Lady on reception did her best but cleanliness of hotel is appalling.

Hotel is a Heritage Hotel in excellent condition, very circa to the age. A block to old town square and close walking distance to most everything including the main train station (10 minutes). Clean, spacious room. Comfortable bed. Quiet unless you are on the street side. Very secure. Breakfast was a 7/10 and a bit pricy. We would stay here again for sure.

First of all, the location is so good. It is just next to the Church of our lady Tyn, whicj means it is so close to the Old town square. Therefore it is good to walk around city’s core and be back to the hotel easily even midnight, but a little bit noisy when the pedestrian screams or yells.
The staff was so kind and helpful. I checked-in after 00:00 and my pick-up service went to wrong place first..... without the help from the staff, it took more time to arrive hotel.

Very ordinary hotel with old facilities. Long steps up to the room with bags. bed was flat and not comfortable. it was very hot (38 degrees) and no air-condition or fan. I will not rate it more than one star. We had to move immediately to another hotel and lost our money. But in good location.

If you get a room facing the street you won’t sleep all night. Not sure how this is a 4 star hotel, maybe 30 years ago. Fake reviews, very misleading.

The hotel room was in very poor condition. The floors had missing pieces of wood which was dangerous to walk around at night. There was no air conditioning and you could not leave the window open for fresh air because it was so loud outside with people yelling and partying. Hotel staff were unfriendly and almost rude! I would never recommend this hotel! The only good thing was the location was close to the city center.

Wonderful jewel of a hotel. Service was outstanding. Staff could not have been more helpful. Location excellent for the old town. The breakfast was fresh and varied. All the bread is made by the bakers who also make the delicious cakes for the coffee shop. If you want a faceless modern hotel this is not for you but of you want character history and genuine hospitality this will be perfect.

When we first got there, the woman at the reception was very unprofessional.
Later that day we asked her to book a taxi for our departure day, she said to come back because she was too drunk. She was fired that afternoon. Then it got better, people were helpful and professional. We could never get an English Channel and the room was not done on Sunday. When we left they gave us 2bags of good cookies to make up for first impression.The location is great!

Hotel is in an excellent location. Lots of local sightseeing and restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Mine was located on the top floor. Huge room but several stairs to climb. Would highly recommend it. Had the on site daily breakfast. Was an add-on fee but lots of selection. Convenience store nearby for drinks and snacks.

We couldn't have stayed in a more perfect spot. The room was large - more like an n apartment. Helen was fantastic and smoothed over a couple items that were different than advertised through Hotels.com. She also was fabulous with arranging for some things we needed. I would definitely stay here when turning to Prague.

The breakfasts are great. They have a very good pastry chef! If you get a room 11-14, then you will be 3 floors of uneven stairs up, and on the top floor. There is only a fan and windows, which is not enough to cool off on a hot day!

Charming Historic Property in Central Prague
We were staying in Prague for four nights and were looking for budget-friendly, centrally-located hotel and decided to book at The Golden Deer. We could not have been happier with our choice. From arrival to departure the staff were unfailingly polite and gracious, quick to assist with any questions and very adept at making a Caffé Americano. (The café doubles as the front desk.) There's a very nice, quiet courtyard which felt miles away from the crush of humanity which is Old Town Square. It was great spot to have a coffee in the morning, planning our day or to unwind with a drink in the evening after seeing the sights. The room itself was clean and very big. I mean, it was VAST, decorated with antique furniture and oozing Old-World charm. The bathroom was clean and bright, with everything in good order. The floors and bed creak, which may be a turn-off to some, but, considering that the building dates to 1366, we felt that it enhanced the character of the hotel. It should be noted that there's no lift, so be prepared for stairs. If you have mobility issues, a more modern hotel may be better suited for you. Overall, The Golden Deer offers great value for the money and is ideally situated for exploring Old Town. I would recommend it and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
Tip: Try to book a room that faces the courtyard. Celetná is a very busy pedestrian street with foot traffic from early morning until late at night.

Depends on what you are looking for. Based on the room condition, it is clearly over charged. It really like a motel condition. The bad part was the hot water. We had no hot water at all for three mornings. The best part is the location. Great location for tourist in the old town, Prague.

The hotel is an excellent location for access to the Old Prague town area. Very historic and beautiful hotel. Dragging heavy luggage up a steep flight of stairs was the only downside but the great staff assisted me. Don't plan on watching TV while you're there either. Only other negative was the tiny towels otherwise will stay there again...with lighter luggage.
