cleaning staff did not clean rooms. just made bed. stayed for two whole weeks and had the same sheets the whole time. did not have garbages cleaned every other day (more like every 4 days). are not inclusive for people of all tax brackets, they expect you to use only credit for your stay and overcharge your card if you do not have a high enough credit limit.

The place was clean, and the staff were friendly. The gym equipment was a little lacking, but everything was in good condition and working.
The breakfast was excellent. So often, we are unable to find a healthy alternative to much of the instant junk food hotels provide...The Townplace did have healthy choices.

Our room was clean, quiet and convenient to amenities. The shower could have been a little hotter and the fridge a little more quiet at night. Since we were on the ground level there was no privacy since cars were parked right in front of our window, so we had to keep the blinds drawn at all times, making the room really dark. We’d ask for a higher floor next time. The bed and couch were comfortable but there was nowhere to sit and eat a meal, given it had a kitchenette for long-term stays. Breakfast was fine and had variety. The signage for the entrance to the hotel should be clearer and bigger to be seen from Upper James.

Breakfast had good variety. Not sure why turkey bacon and not regular bacon though, at least have both options. Hor fresh waffles was amazing! Why hide the expresso machine for breakfast only? Breakfast closed off too early, should be at least 10am not 930. Rooms were clean. Pool was nice and clean. Lots of towels by the pool. Nice tvs by the common area to watch games and hang out. Bonus to have a resturant in the same parking lot. Should not have to pay for parking. Overall great stay, clean amenities and central location.

Hotel room was very nicely laid out, providing great value. Unfortunately that’s where things largely stop.

Check-in was chaos, though to be fair it appears as if the hotel was a primary hotel for a kids hockey tournament.

Upon checkin, services purchased via Expedia (and also offered on Marriott’s website) was defined. Specific tickets for Hamilton war plane museum (entire reason for stay).

Staff initially brushed it off promising to review and resolve. Hours later I had to initiate with front desk to rectify. Staff contacted their “manager” and returned with tickets to another museum (Hamilton Art Museum) which is on Marriott’s website for $10 cheaper per night! - total bait and switch.

Hotel room, while laid out nicely, is not soundproofed. Was kept awake until nearly midnight by loud tvs. Staff no where to be found to rectify the issue.

Giving hotel 3 stars, could easily have been a 4 or even 5 if any one of the problems was taken seriously and corrected.

Stayed for two nights at the hotel. The facility looks and feels brand new. Rooms were in great condition and very clean. Every single staff member interaction was absolutely outstanding. From check-in to late night snack getting service was outstanding.

The hotel says their policy is anything less than 8/10 is a fail and you can tell this isn’t just a statement but a value that they hold themselves accountable to. My visit was 10/10. I frequently stay in hotels and rarely leave a review. In this case I felt the entire team deserved recognition for a fantastic stay and experience.

RED FLAG - Privacy concern: there are 2 layers of pull-off blinds, one is blackout and one is light filtering, you cannot tell which one is closed if you don't check carefully, especially when it's dark outside. We checked in at 8pm, room only has the filter curtain pulled down, only found this out the next morning. With dark outside and lights inside, it's almost 100% see through, our room is at 1st floor facing the parking lot and restaurants - this was never reminded by the front desk or anywhere;
Very little sound proofing: Walls between rooms appear to be just drywalls, we could hear easily the next door room's talking, TV, coughing, etc.
