The staff, the restaurant, and the location of the property were perfect. The condition and comfort of the room left a little to be desired. The bathroom, I believe, was recently updated to include a nice long soaking tub. However, there was no small cabinet or shelving of any type in the bathroom, not even enough space anywhere for a toiletry kit. The furniture in the bedroom was dated, the bed was way too soft and very uncomfortable after three nights of sleeping in it. A cabinet in the bathroom and new, firmer mattress would make a great difference to the accommodation.

The room itself was a little old-fashioned but comfortable enough. The problem was the incredibly loud floorboards - which I suppose come with the territory. We also hadn't realized there'd be loud music from the restaurant/bar downstairs until midnight. If we'd known, probably wouldn't have stayed there with our 1-year-old!

Working in Belfast for a few days, decided to travel outside for accommodation. Found the hotel online. Read a few reviews and decided to book. 1st person I encountered was Lisa, who booked me in and gave me my key. Went up to room, very clean and airy. Ate on the restaurant had chicken wings starter and smoked cod for main. Food was excellent, staff were very polite and courteous. After dinner had a walk aroind the quay, met a few locals who were very friendly. Going back in August for a weeks work. Will definitely be booking the hotel again.

Room was up a few flights of stairs, no lift so it was a bit difficult with a suitcase and child. Room had an amazing view of the marina and was spacious. The room was very dated and the carpet had dozens of stains all over it. The floor was not level and if you put something down on a table it would slide off!

The view was as pictured. But the rest was quite a surprise. The room had threadbare carpet and a very lump uncomfortable bed. The rooms are old style above the pub. The pub is very busy in the evenings with live and recorded LOUD music plus people sitting outside below the window talking and smoking. We love a good ocean view but would not choose to stay here again.

Worst room ever!
There was no check in reception. We spoke to a disinterested distracted male who got me to sign a check in document and gave us a key. He told us we were in room 3 and pointed behind him. We did not receive any directions and there was no signage to indicate the way to the rooms. Eventually we found our room which was spacious and had the sea view we had paid for. The room was very disappointing as the paintwork was scruffy and dirty. The bed, wardrobe and drawers were old fashioned and very dusty. None of the edges of the drawers or bedside cabinets had been cleaned. Inside the wardrobe looked like someones cleaning closet as there was an ironing board lying horizontally along the bottom with an iron on top. There was also a blanket and a bed cover in the watdrobe. There was a collection of wooden, metal and weird crochet-covered hangers in the wardrobe. The shower towels were cheap, washed out and small. The bathroom was quite disgusting as the grouting round the bath/shower area was chipped and cracked. There was a handle on the wall at the bath which was loose with the tiling ready to fall off the wall. The light pull in the bathroom was dirty was attached to the ceiling in a rough manner. The paintwork was untidy and chipped and the tiled floor looked like it hadnt been washed in years. The Nines claimed to be a boutique hotel but it is not even a third rate B&B. We complained to the manager the next day and he just said \" I'm sorry madam\" He did not offer any refund.

Have stayed in the front facing rooms in the past and these are great. Stayed in a room at the rear of the hotel this time and, not so great. My room was certainly tired, and so was I the next morning with an extractor outside running all night!

The only thing positive was the staff and food. The room was grotty, part of the carpet was thread bare, the toilet door was too small for the hole and gaps surrounding it. The walls were all marked and the paint was in such poor condition. The stairs up to the room was horrific, the condition of the walls, carpet and paint work was terrible. Excuses were made by staff stating “work being done” sorry no excuse for the condition it was in. There was building materials in the corridor too.
I definitely won’t be back there, as I said staff very friendly and food great. The price was way over what the value was, no breakfast included either, which was poor.

The room door did not lock properly from the outside. From the inside there is not lock at all. You can only secure the door using the chain.

The hotel will be great in the future I have no doubt , and the service now is friendly and professional . However the bedrooms are shabby, old and crying out for a full refurb which we are told is in the plan somewhere. They are as clean as they can be , but cleaning old stuff is difficult. Think Faulty Towers X 5.

Absolutely lovely place. We stayed there and got the train into Belfast. The staff were very welcoming and efficient. The rooms are mainly traditional with some modern touches. Everything you require (tea, coffee, shampoo, body lotion etc) even homemade shortbread on arrival.

We stayed a night at the nines and the room was comfortable with tea and coffee making available, iron, etc the hotel itself was clean and had a nice look and feel. The only downside was the fact that the hotel restaurant and bar seemed to be run like a separate business to the hotel accommodation side if things. So when you ordered a drink at the bar you could not sit on the seating area because that was all reserved for bookings. Because of this hotel guests either had to sit outside or at the bar which made that area quiet congested. Also when it came to having hotel breakfast the service was extremely slow and seemed disconnected with hotel guests being treated as an afterthought, or so it seemed to me. I guess overall our stay was pleasant enough, but more attention should be given to hotel guests and more pleasant waiting staff would make for a better experience.
