I arrived at 6 PM on a Sunday to find the Office dark and locked. Called the 219 phone number for the hotel. It was routed to a different area code and number. I left a voicemail, but that number is apparently not monitored by anyone. They also do not respond to messages sent to them via Expedia. Fortunately, there is another hotel next-door that had a room for me. Expedia is supposedly going to get me a refund, but they should remove this facility from their website. The clerk at the hotel next-door told me that this was not just an isolated incident. The facility is primarily an extended stay facility. That’s why the office is not stuffed all the time. But why would they accept reservations on a Sunday when their office is always closed on Sundays?

Upon arrival 7 pm the office was locked with a note to call a listed phone number. Received an answer only that the mailbox was full. Ran into another tenant who tried a number she was given earlier. Same result. She found another office to knock on but no answer. Shortly I received a text with my room number and access code, I assume based only on my phone number I called with earlier. This worked but if not for the help of the other person I likely would’ve left and had to try another hotel and been charged for this one as it was non refundable. The whole experience was irritating and unnerving.
The room was clean but musty. Bed comfortable but not much sleep due to very loud traffic noise. No coffee or disposable cups available. Broken drawer handles. Had to take our own garbage out. For $100/night I expect a bit better. A bare bones place to sleep but service non existent (Office not open til 9 am, well after we left). Will not stay here again.

Oh, I can go on and on about how awful the room was. I booked a double queen room but was given a single king bed, as that was all that was left. Our thermostat was broken, stuck on 66 degrees. (I had to turn it off at the breaker to keep it warm enough in there). Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was filthy. The floors were covered in dirt and grime, the carpet was sticky and soaked next to the bed, we couldnt even take our shoes off. There were cobwebs in every corner, every lamp shade, the blinds, every vent. Every surface besides the bathroom sink seemed to have some sort of grimey film on it. It was absolutely disgusting.

Booked through Expedia in November 2024. Upon arrival there was no one available in management or at the front desk. I had to wait over an hour for someone to show up. Upon being given a key to my room, I took a walk around to check out the common areas and my room. The normally key card operated door to the inner facilities was being held open with a rug, there were loud and unsupervised children running amok, the room was dirty and the water heater had overflowed from its overflow bucket into the hallway

I immediately decided to make other arrangements for my stay and spoke directly with the manager at the front desk. I was charged for the entire stay through Expedia and even though I messaged multiple times My money was never refunded for a 5-day stay.

The whole experience was bad!!! We ended up leaving before the end of our stay. We asked if we could be refunded those last two nights because of excessive fighting at this hotel the night before and was refused. We should not be penalized for acts that occurred between other guess. The rooms are dirty and ran down. Couch was so dirty i refused to allow my grand babies to sit on it! The walls were filthy as well. Very little supplies in room and there was never anyone at the office. we arrived at 3pm and the office was empty and no once answered calls til an hour after waiting for a response!!! was given room code via text message but didn’t work, had to wait for new code only to enter a very run down room! We reluctantly stayed but after 2 nights of neighborhood arguing loudly all night we had enough!!! With all this said we should have been greater with customer service support but instead was told no refund! We will never stay at this hotel again and will be telling all friends and family members to leave! This is not a hotel ! I believe people live here as well which makes for a different experience when traveling! Beware!!!

We had encountered several issues with our stay. Upon arriving just after 6pm we had to wait to check in as their office was closed. We made several calls to their emergency number. We were given the wrong code to our unit and had to wait again to find the owner. Our unit was infested with fruit flies, no soap and barely any kitchen supplies. I had to go back and ask the owner for some apple cider vinegar to try and create a trap. Additionally our unit wreaked of marijuiana and the air conditioner did not work. Upon arriving we had to sign an agreement that there are no refunds. That should have been a red flag.

Not the best place to stay.

I’ve stayed at Affordable Suites many times in the past and it’s a no frills old hotel but I like the location and kitchen availability and size. However this trip, the room we got was much worse than usual. It was dusty, the lock on the door was broken, there was something hanging from the microwave that shouldn’t have been there. And the couch which you can normally sit on was extremely stained. The extra sheets were balled up on top of the shelf as if they were used. My expectations weren’t a 4 star room, but it is in a serious need of some upgrades.

Stayed here twice with over a month in-between each time.
1st time I was on the top floor and it was super quiet,
Only complaint was the ceiling fan couldn’t be on without the light being on, something was broken with it as my other room worked fine.

2nd time was legit terrible, I think I slept 3.5 hours and woke up a ton from the person next door to me coughing and smoking weed till 3:30am and the person above me stomping till 1am. I guess get the top floor because people have no common decency nowadays. I probably just won’t stay here anymore.

We chose this hotel as it included a kitchen and was reasonably priced. At first, the suite seemed pretty nice for the price, but after our one-year-old crawled around for a couple of minutes, we realized that the floors were filthy--as in they hadn't been mopped in weeks or months. My son's knees and feet had black marks where they had made contact with the floor. The counters had sticky stuff on them, and the bathtub drain immediately backed up after we turned on the shower. Needless to say, we were very disappointed with the cleanliness. Glad we only stayed one night.

I was pleasantly surprised with the room. Although I read that a kitchen was available, I didn't expect it to be so nice and the entire room was very clean. We especially liked that all the rooms faced the courtyard and needed an access code to enter. The courtyard also offered 2 BBQ grills, and table & chairs to use for outside dining. Very nice facility. Would definitely stay there again.

We received a phone call at 5 PM the day of our arrival telling us that the lobby was closing early and that they were going to text us the door and wifi codes. The bed was not really comfortable. The road next to the hotel was very busy and we could hear the traffic noise inside the room.

We've stayed at this place many times in the past, but haven't been there since 2019. It was very clean and the staff was helpful, but it seems a little rundown since the last time we were there. The beds could use newer mattresses and the furniture is beat-up. There are also seem to be people residing there, which is more a complaint about the state of housing in the U.S. than a complaint against the hotel. The prices are up a little, but not as much as most other hotels. Overall, I like this place and would stay again.

Rooms very roomy - bed comfortable - great attention to germ control. Looks pretty new. Restaurants close by. Only suggestions are - lighting is pretty dim and only have a light on one side of the bed for reading. Also, spotlight on outside sign kept the room from darkening.

Accommodations were adequate. Rug was soiled and obviously very old. There were fist marks in a few places in the wall. Coffee mugs in the cabinet were not clean, having coffee residue and such on inside and outside of the cups. Both the smoke detector and fire sprinkler had paper towels stuffed in them. When I texted the contact person at the hotel I received no reply - that was the most disturbing.

The hotel is decent and the room was good. However, the ownership needs to keep an eye out on it before it goes downhill quick. When we got there, three folks were smoking marijuana in the courtyard. Then we were greeted with what I am assuming is extended stay folks, and they were stoned. Saturday night at 1am those same individuals, room 219, decided to have a screaming/fighting match on the walkway outside their room. Other guest decided to yell at them to be quiet. Sunday during checkout, the clerk came from the back room, and I'm not sure if she was hungover or already stoned off her ass, but said she would tell them to be quiet. Another guest was checking out and asked if we heard the commotion.

The property changed our booking without telling us I received an email the morning that we were supposed to check in about my cancellation so I called and the front office said I was good on my booking that they had double booked and they were trying to hold my spot. I checked in and the front office said their printer wasn’t working so she wrote all of my information down and also wrote check out was at noon which I thought was weird since my booking was for six days. I was looking at my credit card charges and noticed that they only charge me for one night so I called the front desk and no answer I went down to the front office and there’s a sign no one was at the front office and they provided two numbers including one for the property manager to get a hold of for emergencies. I called both numbers left messages did not receive a call back. I’m glad I figured out our booking was only for one night instead of six because we would’ve left and came back to not having a room and all of our stuff would have been gone. Since I did not get a call back I had to book elsewhere. This may have been a blessing in disguise because the room smelled of old cigarette smoke, there was a car air freshener on the vent on the ceiling, one of the beds were broken, the place was not that clean we found a fake eyelash in the kitchen and floss on the bathroom floor, the shower drain was also broken.

Not great. The Good: The rooms were clean, there were two televisions and the maid provided good service.
The Bad: It was drafty and uncomfortably cool inside and I could not set the thermostat higher than the maximum allowed. The hot water did not last for very long when showering. The walls are thin as you can hear people talking in the adjacent suite. There were also children playing loudly on the grounds.

I made this reservation several days in advance. Prepaid in full. The day of, while traveling to my destination, I received a message from the hotel through the Orbitz website that my reservation had been cancelled because the hotel was sold out. How frustrating to be traveling, with sporadic email and phone service, and then have to try to find another hotel with a vacancy last minute. Disappointed in Orbitz and have been a good, loyal customer for years.

Do not believe in the star rating for this hotel/motel. It was absolutely the worse hotel/motel that we've ever stayed in. Even though our room is supposed to be non-smoking, the stench from cigarettes was unbearable. There was also a big hole in the wall and the blind was broken. The shower curtain has black stains and the furniture looked worn out and has stains. No dishwasher and only one set of cups and plates were available for in the kitchenette. Because of the condition of the hotel and the room we're in, we didn't feel safe staying there. This place definitely not worth the $129 per night that we paid for.

This property was good for our adult family of 4. It's hard to find Q beds sometimes, and the mattresses were comfortable. We enjoyed having the kitchen/living area to be able to spread out a bit, as well as having the ability to cook breakfast before heading out for the day. We will definitely stay again in one of these properties!

We were with a group of friends and had about 8 rooms. Check out was at noon, but housekeeping started knocking on doors around 10 am and kept knocking even after we advised that we would be out by noon. The housekeeper parked her cart in front of our room at around 10:30 and left it there, which made us inclined to stay longer.

Plenty of eating places within walking distance, office staff friendly, but no daily service and the office hours limited. There for 5 days, no cleaning service at all, had to ask the office for towels, coffee, toiletries.

I stayed here a few years ago and it was just as great this time as it was then! I love that it's more like an apartment style room with the living area separate from the bedroom. Includes full kitchen with bar seating, stove/oven, microwave and full refrigerator. The laundry room is nice and spacious with several washers and dryers and a folding table with a tv. Also the room has a ceiling fan with a remote which is awesome! The patio has seating with umbrellas and grills are available for use. I will be staying here every time I come up to visit with family!

Room needed a deep clean. I wouldn't sit on sofa until after I covered it with a blanket. My white socks turned brown walking on floor for less than an hour. Keypad lock would not work when returned to room, no one in office, no one answered emergency number. I found housekeeping and she let me in so I could grab my suitcases to leave. Housekeeper could not understand why keypad would not work. Beautiful rooms, if they'd give them some heavier cleaning and light repairs.

Let's see..... We checked in at about 9:00pm after numerous calls to mgr to get the code to get into the room. Has a kitchen, there was 1 fork, 3 knives, 1 spoon, no pots, 1 towel, 1 washcloth, no hand towels, the coffee pot was so slimy I let a note for my husband NOT to use the coffee pot because I was not going to wash off someone else's Filth. Bad spots on the sofa, when I sat down there was such a strong urine smell I got sick to my stomach. We went immediately to the mgrs office. 1. I asked why I didn't get a handicap room I booked 6 months ago. She said they were all taken this is the last room NOT handicap. She said they can't guarantee that you get handicap even if it was guaranteed. We said all that was wrong with the room. She brought some items, including a sheets to cover the sofa so we could sit.. She wanted to bring air freshener to spray the room (smelled BAD). I said\" Please don't add insult to injury.\" I tried flipping the cushions, WORSE. Hard to sleep, but impossible to reserve anything late at night. We checked out in AM, all the mgr gave me was excuses, her health, Assist ant left, new housekeeping (left), the list goes on. I told her we had stayed there many times, never had this problem. Asked Under new Mgmt? She said she's there since day one. I said, \"Then YOU have a problem!\" Trust me DON'T GO THERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU'RE HANDICAP! Residence Inn in Merrillville, MUCH better choice! Save yourself the headache! Health Dept, please check this place

Nice sized rooms. Kitchen was well stocked other than pots and pans. The floor was absolutely filthy (although due to its color, it wasn't very obvious until looking at the bottom of our socks). The water was never hot enough even turned all the way up.
I do wish I had gotten the name of the (blonde) desk clerk, she was friendly and helpful everytime I interacted with her.
Will definitely spend a bit more money and stay at the hotel next door.

The property and layout of the room was beautiful and very well kept. I was displeased with the cleanliness of the floors, rugs, and furniture. It was a nice two day stay, and would recommend if they clean the rooms better.

It was great until I cut my foot on the drain plug for the tub while taking a shower. The tub was a little slippery and my foot slide while I was rinsing off and sliced a two inch slice in my small toe. Thankfully I had some racy glue to fix my toe with.

The room was very quiet and spacious with a separate living and kitchen area. The separate bedroom had an excellent king size bed, writing desk and the large bathroom was clean and attractive. We also thank Bella at the front desk for her very courteous service. This is an outstanding value for the very reasonable cost.

furnishings were pretty drab, we asked about an upstairs room and was told they didn't have one, then we were told nobody was above us. The hotel barely had anyone staying there but we were placed next to the freeway and didn't sleep all night. We had requested a quiet room. Was pretty disappointing.
