Rooms are nice and quirky, but getting a bit dilapidated. Staff are few and far between, and on the sullen side. Disappointingly the hotel provides no food or drinks any more (its breakfast used to be legendary). But it’s in a convenient location and easy to park.

The suite was perfect and had everything we needed. It was warm and comfy. Sharon on reception was so helpful and approachable, she would put many a receptionist in the 5-star hotels I've stayed in to shame.

More knowledge regarding hidden challenges would be good at reception - How a nerodivegent face looks does not reflect what is happening on the inside, I was told I looked angry (no just very tired and being through a previous accommodation experience that would make faulty towers look normal). Secondly, it is good practice to keep guest talk behind closed doors, I could myself been talked about as I went to my room. The corridor to room was freezing cold and creepily. At reception I was offered bottle water, I was surprised to find non in the room or fridge, it is normal to leave at least one bottle. The room was grand and well appointed, but the bathroom was a DIY was horror show, titles at sensible level and then added to up 12ft or more. Room kettle was the wrong type and difficult to fill. Room was missing a desk/chair. Nice to have USB sockets. Well appointed curtain fabric. Check-out 10:30, 11:00 would be better.

Upon arrival we were slightly unnerved by some slightly unsavoury individuals who seemed to be just hanging around in the car park,and front entrance, whilst we had no interaction with them we rather hoped that it wasn't an indication of the type of hotel we had booked.
However we were greeted at reception and promptly shown to our room through an indoor courtyard which housed a delightful pond and fountain.
Our room was actually a suite, downstairs seating area complete with fridge,microwave and kettle, upstairs to bedroom and fantastic spacious bathroom with huge bath.
All was clean with everything we needed. A very peaceful stay.
We did decide to leave our car at our son's house snd hlad we did as when we returned to our hotel later there were more individuals outside the front entrance smoking and swearing amongst themselves but made us feel very uncomfortable coming back in the dark and having to walk through them. We now understand that the hotel is used to house the homeless so that explains why the people were there but for the price we paid we shouldn't feel unsafe upon entering. For this reason we wouldn't stay again.

After many years of attending this well appointed hotel finally i got an upgrade. The hotel is well situated for walks along Shakespeare's smug Trent. The Burton Bridge Brewery is over the road. Town centre a short walk. Parking more than adequate. I think if you can put up with the road noise of a weekend its one of the best hotels in town. Parking my confuse some as the hotel is on an island. Check during winter for flooding which can close the old bridge. Popular during the towns annual boating regatta.

The Three Queens used to be fantastic. Breakfast was the high spot of the stay. Now there’s no dining, no bar, all a bit sad. Still a great, quirky hotel and a great room, will stay again.

It was a convenient stay as I had a meeting the next day very close by.

It was quite noisy as it is situated in a \"roundabout\" and the windows were a little rattle-y as well which didn't help.
The taps were a law unto themselves.

The flow rate for a bath is sllloowww - it would be faster boiling 50 kettles to throw in one at a time.

The shower was a trickle - definitely not able to be used at all and don't even attempt to wash hair or lather up too much because it's not coming off.

the hairdryer in the bathroom is a fire hazard. it is burnt (clearly visible). It is not worth turning on, the coil goes boiling red immediately and you can smell burning within milliseconds.

The room is a sufficient size with a microwave and fridge (no food is provided on the premesis). The kettle and the cups/spoons were dirty - so no morning coffee for me. (and the local cafe/coffee shops were all closed at 9 & 9.30am just to put the cherry on top)

In the room i was in as soon as you entered there was a chair to the left and next to the chair was a cupboard (which you couldn't open unless you moved the chair).

The staff were friendly and did recommend places for food and coffee.

it's a bit fawlty towers-esque in terms of dilapidated decor and carpets/furniture which all just needs a bit more cleaning (i wouldn't walk around in just my socks even in my room).

if you're going for 1 night, need parking,a bed to sleep on and you're not too fussed about things, this place will do.

Enjoyed the week no food at the 3Queens but great cafes at walkable reach at good prices. Place very clean towels changed every day and beds made up as well. Enjoyed it(fire alarm one night all evacuation went well,found to be false alarm someone spraying airspray in room. Staff were very good.

Arrived at hotel and good size car park but that's where anything positive stops.
The hotel inside is tired, run down and a state.
I honestly didn't feel safe staying there to the extent i emptied car for fear it would get broken into.

My room was so hot, aircon didn't work and i didn't feel safe leaving window open as flat roof level with it.
I had a fridge, microwave and massive tv... looked like a bedsit more than hotel room

Bathroom was dirty, fixtures old and grimey.

Bed was comfortable and sheets looked clean, but woke up bitten a lot....

Staff were not particularly friendly, but if i worked there I'd probably be miserable also.

Just plain terrible experience, i wanted to leave but couldn't afford to waste £65

It's a wonderful building . All the rooms are different but all have their own charm . The staff are very welcoming . It's quiet and I get a great night's sleep after a busy shift . It's a pity there is no restaurant but it's only a short walk to town . 😊

The hotel was worn, the bed really hard and bumpy and more water came out of the shower handle than the shower and no breakfast. Also the Wi-Fi was crap.
The staff dealt with the shower, the room was clean and warm. Unusual placement on a roundabout 15 mins from town centre.

Please beware !

Will not be staying at this hotel again!
I booked three rooms for myself and my two colleagues, executive room, what a joke, the facilities offered by a travelodge are far superior.

All the public areas look tired and poorly maintained, infact the entire place needs a good clean. All our rooms were dated, the only positive thing i could say was that my my bed clean and semi comfy. By far the biggest thing which really upset us was that there was no hot water in our executive ensuites! Stone cold, when i complained i was given an option to shower in another room but it was in an entirely new building !?

Booked through Expedia. When arrived around 7pm the room was not on there system. I had confirmation txt and email showing i had a room.
When asked for another room or a refund i was told no. When asked what am I suppose to do now i was told it not there problem and tried physical and verbal intimidate me to leave. Telling me had to leave or there would be trouble. Threatening to call police which i told receptions to do, i said i be glad to wait for police to arrive. While waiting for police i was told i was not allowed to sit in chairs in reception or walk so i best leave. When police arrived they saw my booking confirmation and agreed i had done nothing wrong and should contact Expedia for a refund/compensation.

Now I have contacted Expedia they are saying cannot give a refund as hotel will not refund me, makes perfect sense, and i did have a room, so why was i asked to leave? Do not go to this hotel ever!!! Also do not use Expedia as will take your money but not willing to support you as a customer when challenging the hotel ruling. Im atcually shocked Expedia had not even refund my money for the room nevermind any compensation for inconvenience of no room and taxis i need to book because of no room!

Please avoid using Expedia and Three Queens Hotel Burton upon Trent.

A good town centre hotel.

A comfortable, quiet hotel in the town centre, about 15 mins walk from the railway station and 20 from the Pirelli Stadium. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious and the TV worked. Slight minuses: no waste bin in the bedroom and no shower mat in the bathroom. Hotel does not do food but there's a microwave in the room. Some rooms are in an annex but are easily accessible with the room key.

When I arrived I was told that there wasno food nor drink available that was not what the website suggested. The room was large but I could not shut the window and there was no hot water so I had to boil the kettle and wash my hair in the sink. I wasn't aware until I arrived that the 'hotel' didn't serve evening meals - nor breakfast. Also the TV had no remote control (asked at reception and was told that they would sort one out - none appeared. Very noising room. Shower was pitiful.

The external appearance from some aspects is not appealing, looking dirty and run down. However, the hotel entrance and the room belied this: clean and welcoming.
Currently not providing breakfast was disappointing, but I will certainly have no issues with booking again the next time I'm staying in Burton.

The bathroom sink tap was awful it was literally a trickle you couldn’t clean your teeth or have a proper wash we had to use the bath taps. the decor could do with being updated we had an executive room would hate to see what the standard rooms are like. There is free parking on site. This hotel does not do food or drinks but there is a vending machine for snacks.

DONT BOOK HERE! Without doubt the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, felt like your entering a prison when you arrive, guy on the reception was more interested in his personal conversation he was having on his phone, hotel looks like it’s falling down and the room has a prison cell feel to it, unfriendly and unhelpful staff, the only comfort I had is knowing I only had to suffer one nights stay in this place….

A bit of a hovel

The carpets through reception smelled like a wet dog and stale smoke. The whole place needs a good airing and a revamp. My room was ok but did not really live up to the name \"Executive suite\" it was dusty and had some amazing cobwebs around the draughty window. It is located right on a busy junction which was noisy. Sheets and towels were clean and fresh and the bed was comfortable.

my night without sleep

i did not enjoy my stay as my room was next to a busy road junction and there was traffic running past all night long so i didnt get a drop of sleep all night if i didnt want any sleep i woulnt have payed for a hotel room. i will give it one more chance to see if it will be a one off mistake but if i get put in that room again i will never go back and everyone i know will be told not to stay there

Best described as adequate. Clean and comfortable room but in an older building with no lift so not suitable for anyone with mobility issues (other rooms might be OK). A proper fridge, microwave and kettle almost made up for the lack of any dining facilities (not even a breakfast bar) which I had expected from the photos posted of a dining room. Mea Culpa for not checking. Parking was easy when I was there but the entry from the roundabout takes you by surprise if you arent careful!. Very good value for an overnight stay or two and helpful staff.

There was no food available apart from vending machine snacks. There was no bar either which was odd.
There are several nice restaurants and pubs nearby which helps.
The motion detecting light in the bathroom is fine in principle however when visiting the toilet through the night it isnt pleasant to have the light on!
The matress is incredibly firm to the point of been time for a change.

We needed a place to sleep over following a family funeral. In the past it had been, when it was more than just a hotel, one of the better places to stay and eat, so as we’d moved out of town, decided to try it. The room was fine for basic overnight needs, but wouldn’t recommend if you were staying longer, or for special occasion. The hotel, once grand, felt dark in reception, shabby and in areas on stairways, smelt like unclean/toilety. Staff were friendly enough. The hotel just needs some tlc and grandeur bringing back.

Disgusting and dirty, a refuge for homeless people

The Duvet had blood, coffee and other stains, the pillows were yellow well used and old, there were stains on the easy chair, wallpaper coming off, water dripping from foyer ceiling into large metal bucket at the side of the stairs, No Wi-Fi which was meant to be included, no bar, no restaurant and currently being used to house homeless guests alongside paying ones! The Housekeepers were short staffed and over worked. We were overall disgusted with the state of the bedding the taps that trickled cold water for half an hour before you actually got any warm water to bath or shower in due to restricters on the taps again also fitted to the basin taps which caused problems filling the kettle. I would not recommend or use again and was highly disappointed as years ago this was a beautiful thriving hotel with a bar and restaurant and was very clean and tidy. And after driving for 5 hours from Devon to visit family we were shocked by what awaited us. I would like a refund!!!

Good location and with parking. Check in was easy. Surprised to find a fridge and microwave in the room. Bed was firm but comfortable. In the morning we discovered that the shower temperature would not turn down from scalding, the basin tap was loose and a shelf was not attached to the wall. While picking up what was on the shelf a cigarette butt was spied under the bed. We informed the reception of these problem. I would book again, hoping that these were a \"one off\".

The property was dirty and shabby. Our room carpets were stained, the shower didn't work, a windowpane was broken and missing, and druggies hung around outside the entrance. Oh, and no lift to the upper floors so had to carry our suitcases up two flights. Never ever will we stay at this place again.
