Great staff, clean rooms, great free breakfast. Fab location, only a 10 min walk to the markets. Our only complaint is that nobody from the hotel or hotels.com thought to tell us about the building work next door. We didn't find out until we got into our room. When I raised this with hotels.com on the 2nd day of a 4 day stay after being woken up at 7am by the blasting and digging which goes on until 5pm they passed the buck and said it was the hotel we needed to speak to. The hotel staff called us on monday evening to offer us a move to a quieter room on the other side of the hotel which was great. Considering we booked this trip in march for december travel we should have been informed by hotels.com so we could have decided if we wanted to change our accomodation.

The second time we have stayed in a Thon hotel. Once again the staff were extremely friendly and always happy to help. The amenities are super. We love the lounge area, it's such a nice touch. The breakfast was superb; such great choice and quality. We were lucky enough to have our room upgraded and that was completely above our expectations! The hotel is in a brilliant location, close enough to walk everywhere but far enough for it not too feel too busy around the hotel. We will defintiely be staying with Thon again!

Our overall stay was fine. We did have to evacuate for fire alarms twice. Once at 4am and again the next day around 6pm. Additionally, the microwave in our room was broken and had to be removed. We were offered another room. However, that room was significantly smaller with only a couch bed and no kitchenette. We specifically booked our room at this hotel in order to have a small kitchen so this was certainly disappointing.

On a good note, the staff were friendly and helpful. One staff member to some extra time to help us book our airport return transportation which was very appreciated.

The breakfast buffet was substantial and the staff were very friendly.

Basic room, No kettle, no lotion. Enough soap, towels, toilet paper. Lobby coffee almost always out of order or lacking coffee pods and even hot water. Breakfast uneven, running out of options early; clearly lack of coordination or planning or lack of staff. Same for lobby services. Reception always busy.

The hotel is about a 15min walk from the National Theatre station through a lovely park. The station is in the amazing airport rail link. It is a 15min walk to the centre of Oslo and the harbour. Shopping and restaurants are plentiful. This hotel is a part that of a large chain of hotels across Norway. The rooms are solid, clean and comfortable . The breakfast was excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The guest laundry facilities were a welcome sight after being on the road for a few days.

I liked everything about the apartment - well designed and well equipped? The gym was very nice as well as a very complete breakfast buffet. It was wonderful to be across the street from a beautiful par. My only complaint was the noise of people above me, children running up and down the hall and construction outside my window. We had a really great stay at the Thon Slottsparken. Amazing location, lovely hotel and really friendly/helpful staff. We had a slight problem (which wasn't the fault of the hotel) but this was quickly resolved by Management and reception. We would definitely return to this hotel in the future.

We are a couple in our 60s, travelled far and wide. This gem of a hotel convenient to all major sights in Oslo was great. We stayed three nights in a comfortable room. The breakfast was outstanding and everyhing we wanted to see was walking distance. On our last morning we checked out before breakfast was available, and by alerting the reception staff the day before, we were given a boxed breakfast. Great service!

Its a very clean property with large rooms. 5 min walk to the city and just next to the castle park. A very beautiful place. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of offers and glutenfree bread/ pancakes. The staff was helpful and very friendly. Absolutly loved our stay! Thank you!

Great hotel in a central location. Either through the National Museum train station, or via Oslo Central and a 17, 18 or 19 tram to Holbergs Place.

I had a big, airy room, with a very comfortable bed. I loved the underfloor heating in the bathroom.

A very good stay at the Thon Hotel Slottsparken.

A very good stay at the Thon Hotel Slottsparken. The main reason for selecting the hotel was the availability to accommodate 3 adults (adult daughter still loves free holidays!) and the 'Business' room option worked our perfectly with plenty of room for us all.
Location wise it was very close to the palace in a nice quiet area whilst also being less than a 10 minute walk to the centre of Oslo and the Nationaltheatret train station which has a direct link to the airport.
Special mention for the breakfast which is amongst the best we've ever experienced. The quality and variety of food was excellent, and even more impressive given it was the Christmas holidays.
The only small negative was that we were missed by housekeeping and our room wasn't serviced for our second day but that aside we would highly recommend this hotel for its good location and,relative to the cost of hotels in Oslo, very good value for money

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Thon Hotel Slottsparken! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, the breakfast was absolutely fantastic, and the sommelier (Matthieu) in the downstairs wine bar was incredibly knowledgeable and pleasant. He made some wonderful wine and beer recommendations for us. The hotel rooms were simple but had everything we needed, including a kitchenette. The location was across the street from the Royal Palace and within walking distance to restaurants, bars, and shopping. We would definitely stay at this Thon location again! Thank you for a lovely time in Oslo!

I had a comfortable stay at Thon hotel.
The room (queen bed) was very spacious & clean; it had all the necessities (bathrobe, iron, kettle, etc.); bed was comfortable; room furnished/decorated simple but pleasant. The breakfast was very good and with large variety.
Location is excellent, just across the royal park.
Towels were a bit thin. The building, the reception area and the hallways don't look very attractive.

There was no one at reception ( rookie trainee) who told manager Not site to deal with problems. NO Plumbers available on weekends

I use Thon in Norway because I have VIP status as a member of their rewards program but the preferred rate was higher than Hotels.com. Our room did not have a shower drain that worked and we had to place towels to keep water out of the floor. They offered us another room bit would not move our stuff for us because they have no plumber which works weekends. That was unacceptable to have not one person onsite in the morning of a weekend to repair a drain. We had to be at a tour so we did not have time to move ourselves. The next morning, we could not take showers because they never fixed the problem. When we checked out the most they could offer us was 150 NOK or 15 off each night.

We liked this hotel. We are a family of three traveling together. At this hotel the sleeping area was separated from the living area where the pull out was which my kid liked. The suite was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of choices. The staff was outstanding! Our only complaint was that our room was quite hot and the window only opened about three inches. It didn’t matter though because we were on the second floor just above the lobby entrance. That was where everyone congregated to smoke. My kid has asthma so the window had to remain closed.

All staff are great - they are everything and top reason we would come back. Very helpful, friendly and solved problems efficiently. Stayed here 3 nights. Buffet breakfast has good varieties. Coffee and tea provided at the front lounge area 24/7 was a great addition. We originally chose this place because there are options for the rooms with kitchenette (which we needed desperately for our child who has food allergies issues). However, our first night we stayed at a room without kitchenette due to some renovation reasons. The manager and staff were very attentive, they moved us into another room with kitchenette for the rest of our stay. Everything was clean and tidy. The area is quiet, pleasant, and walkable to lots of things: shopping, tram/train stations, attractions. We would definitely come back!

My husband and i came to spend 1 night with our 18 year old. The reception class were exceptionally friendly and welcoming plus helpful. The room was clean and hadbwhat we needed. The double sofa bed was comfortable. When we went down for breakfast we were very impressed with the variety of options on offer. Staff were friendly. Would most definitely stay in this chain hotel again
The hotel was about a 20 minute walk to the centre and a 5 minute walk tops to an area with restaurants. All in all we have had an amazing 2 days in Oslo.

Bathroom with underfloor heating was a bonus.
Walls and floorboards can appear to be quite thin, meaning you can hear a lot of other people and heavy walking. This was quite irritating the first night as we were unfortunate to have someone constantly walking around all night!
Breakfast area is clean. Has ample food choices, but only one 2 slice toaster - which was bizarre, and causing delays/queues. The coffee machine was very difficult to use, and there wasn’t many servers offering coffee - so this experience was not the greatest.

Avoid! Not sure who has given it positive reviews!

The room itself was incredibly small and had very very poor sound proofing. It was as if there were elephants in the room above us and the loud, intermittent noise from the fridge is very irritating.

The bed is very small and the pillows are even smaller so very uncomfortable. When asked for another pillow (on all 4 nights) I was told that the hotel was full and they didn't have any spare or that the cleaners cupboard was locked and nobody else had a key.

The beddings or towels were not changed during our 4 night stay. The floor wasn't cleaned once (It was very snowy outside so was a real mess).

The bathroom is not very pretty and the fact the shower screen doesn't reach the floor means the room can get quite wet. I also think the raised bathroom floor is a bit of a trip hazard. The free toiletries were one 'all over shampoo'.

Overall I find the room incredibly small and very basic and I am really disappointed.

Fortunately breakfast was quite nice and varied, although the hot food options were not very warm.

It is also disappointing that there isn't a nice seating or bar area to sit in too.

Finally on a personal note, I did send an email via stating it was my birthday (my partner and I usually go away every year) and they didn't even leave a note mentioning this.

I tried to mention my issues to reception several times but was told there was nothing that could be done as no manager was available. I tried to call down and had to wait 30 mins on the hotel phone.

They have friendly, attentive, welcoming and professional staff. The hotel is located in a quiet road, safe and with great amenities.

The room I’ve stayed at was quiet, very clean, spacious and beautiful. Also the room has cooking facilities and kitchen equipments and utensils.
Breakfast buffet was excellent with many options. The location is nearby many of the attractions, point of interests and a train ride from and to the airport. I Highly recommend this hotel.

What a pleasant surprise! My sister's family and my family had a 24 hour layover in Oslo, so we decided to stay here for the night. The train from the airport was simple to navigate and kids were free!! We checked our luggage in lockers at the airport and just brought backpacks. The train was spotless and we were so happy that the train stop was just a short walk to the hotel. The walk included passing the palace and through the gorgeous palace gardens. The hotel was easy to find, clean and had a lovely staff. The breakfast the next morning was actually astonishing! After a 2 week trip in Europe, this was by far the easiest hotel to access from an airport into a city, the best included breakfast and simplest overall part. We spent the evening after check-in walking through the city, and the morning just enjoying the gorgeous park across the street. Then onto the train and back to the airport. Highly recommend this for families, but also for any traveller looking for a simple, easy and pleasant getaway.

American travelers will find this hotel to be an excellent value (Hilton/Hyatt standards) It was outstanding, for the price class it's in. The gourmet buffet breakfast was incredible, and very unexpected. Rooms are modern, very nice, very good bedding and pillows, immaculate bathroom features/plumbing. Lobby is welcoming and comfortable and free coffee/tea all day. We sat in the lobby a lot, just because it was nice down there! This particular Thon ( there are 4 or 5 in Oslo) is a bit of a walk from the Central Train Station (Oslo S), but possible to walk to. Next time, we'd jump on the street car at the train station and take it up the hill to the hotel's neighborhood. Its location is good for the park and the Royal Palace grounds that are just across the street. We felt very very safe here, and in Oslo in general.

The property was OK for a budget hotel, but they did NOT give us the room we booked (we booked a double...they gave us a room with 2 singles) and the hotel feels dated. Hotel manager wasn't friendly although the staff was much better.

I liked this place, the rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The room had AC, so i slept very comfortably. The breakfast was free and very satisfying. The staff were friendly, polite, professional and very helpful. They do have laundry on site which is great because we were on week 1 of oir vacation and needed to do laundry. The machines were affordable and easy to us.
The only drall back, is i had to park at the Radisson Hotel a few blocks away. Other then, that this place was great!
