Everything is very basic and very small- room, shower area. The sink is by the room and separated by a curtain only. No space for toiletries or toothbrush. No conditioner. But its clean, in a good location and have excellent breakfast

Rooms are really small mas bright and accomodating. The only downside was finding an insect on our first night there. But otherwise a good night sleep. Breakfast was nice but items that finished were not put back in the buffet which was quite frustrating. Staff not particularly friendly nor rude. I would rather my stay 3,5/5

Area. Easy walk from train station, nearby lake walk is fabulous and there are several nice places to eat. Staff was helpful and efficient. Get the breakfast- well worth the cost, lots of options.

Expensive for basic room

Basic Ibis Budget room but was quite expensive for what we got. Air conditioning is turned off at night and the room got quite stuffy so my husband went to ask for a fan but was refused and was told we should have booked a more expensive room.

Location was good and Paradiso was a lovely area. Breakfast was included and it was quite tasty.

Great breakfast. The comfort level of the room needs attention, it was very hot. The AC is controlled by the hotel. There are no thermostats in the room. Other than the comfort level of the room, I loved the hotel.

It is a misrepresentation that the hotel has Air conditioning! It cannot be controlled from your room, they control the entire building at a master temp. I also believe they turn it off at night so it gets really hot especially on the upper floors! Otherwise it was fairly convenient to town and city center. The rooms are very small but serviceable. I would try other options if available

Place was ok for a clean place to sleep over if you are alone or with your significant other. Area around hotel was not the best and the shower curtain outside of the shower with a mirror on the adjacent wall was not a good design. Would not recommend the budget hotel for families as extremely small space. We had nowhere to put our luggage and room to walk. It was only three of us and we had three backpacks. Bed almost reaches across the room to the other wall with sink next to bed. So if you want a little bit more room to move in I wouldn’t suggest staying here. If you just need a quick overnight stay to continue on your trip it is perfect.

Property is what you get for what you paid. Went for a cheap option as the other ibis didn’t have room available for 3 in same room. However hindsight I would rather pay more because as much as price is cheap room isn’t convenient, very small, so with luggage’s it isn’t great. Just felt very uncomfortable, but once again for the price I suppose it isn’t bad. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Good location. Room was very clean and staff were friendly. Happy stay!
The only problem was that I paid CHF10.9 for the city tax as per hotel. But in my booking document I only need to pay AU12.45 for city tax plus tourism fee at the property. Ibis asked me to contact my booking agent who only said I need to pay the city tax. It was very confused me as my booking said I need to pay AU12.45 in the property but now I must pay CHF10.9 ( nearly AU20 ). My advice is if city tax needs to be paid in the property, please write in the local currency. Thanks!

The room was extremely small. We had a hard time bringing in our two medium sized suitcases. No real bathroom, only a tiny shower stall with no privacy. The door does not stop the water from flowing out and flooding the area. Sheets and towels had a musty smell. After the first night, we paid extra to move over to the regular ibis hotel side, where the rooms are a bit bigger and there is an actual bathroom.

Very average accommodation and breakfast. Pretty much a hostel. No privacy in the bedroom - shower - no lock. Toilet - no lock. No everyone is away with family. Breakfast - perhaps we came late but at 850 there was no egg left and the pastries were empty. Nice staff but I felt it was tough seeing everyone enjoy the Novotel pool from the glass window at reception. Told couldn’t even use pool if I offered to pay. So I think it’s my last ibis budget.

It was extremely hot night and there was no air conditioning available, no hair dryer, no iron, no fridge nothing. Horrible small room with 2 towels and 2 soap bars that is it. Would not recommend this place. Super expensive but you dont get anything.

On August 10, 2022 at around 08:30-09:00, I went to the breakfast area to check what kind of food/breakfast is being served. I was checking if there are continental breakfast available (scarmbled egg, sausage, bacon etc.). Unfortunately, there wasn’t.
I was aproached by a female staff (wearing a black top and a pony-tailed hair). She asked for my room number and I provided her our room number. I told her that “I want to check first what kind of breakfast you serve”. Thats when she ROLLED HER EYES on me, literally rolled her eyes on my face!
It was an unpleasant experience and so I left with my family.
I went to the front desk and talked to the male staff. I asked the guy if I can talk to the Manager, Supervisor to report the incident. All of a sudden, this guy cannot understand me and said “I dont understand what you mean”.
I remember when we first checked in, staffs speak very good english and when I started complaining they cannot understand me ???
So I have to explain it slowly and clearly about the incident, and the only thing the guy said to me was “No manager today”.
I asked, is there anybody I can talk to to complain. The guy said “Nobody”.
I asked the guy for the name of the female staff and said that he cannot do it for privacy and I understand that.
The front desk guy talked to the lady on the breakfast area briefly and that was it, didn’t offer any help to us.

Aug. 11 at 09:10am, we checked out, same guy at the frontdesk did not say a word to us!

Budget it is exept the price $200 night.
Small cheep looking rooms, toilet door basically a painted plywood on hinges.
Got a room on top floor that had no air conditioning and with the heat wave this summer was impossible to stay in. We ended up going to a different hotel and they couldn’t refund anything because we booked a non refundable option, lesson learned. Reception area has nice big windows overlooking a pool that is not for the budget guests.

Somehow, I liked the hotel. Location was in a nice, quiet, clean area. Public transit, restaurants and grocery stores were within couple of minutes of a walking distance.

Inside the hotel was really basic, well maintained and clean. The two small elevators were a bit slow and busy most of the time. I was expected more from the receptionist to be prepared and provide the standard information but I had to ask everytime. Maybe there were overwhelmed that week.

Great location in Paradiso - easy walking distance to Lake Lugano and Lugano town itself, plenty of shops and restaurants nearby too. About one min walk to the funicular station which is a must do if the weather is good. Perfect for a two day stay to explore Lugano with our dog. Very basic rooms but did the job and helpful staff. Only down side is not being able to control AC temperature in the room, not ideal in summer, room was too hot with the window only opening a few inches. Otherwise a great base for exploring the area.

Small room but we were travelling light so it was perfect. It was super cute and made great use of space.

Breakfast was really good. The free scooters (subject to deposit) were AWESOME, perfect to see the city on that beautiful sunny day. All in all I loved it, was expecting a lot worse but this hotel manages to stay \"budget\" and nevertheless maintain good standards. That makes it excellent in my book.

The hotel was in good location to the lake a small walk to downtown by very pleasant.the parking is very difficult so I would suggest paying the extra to park at the location.the breakfast fast was very basic the only hot item was hard boiled eggs but otherwise fine. The area can be expensive so the included breakfast is a bargain. The budget room is just as it states very IKEA,small tv,small showers, small space . Good for short term stay.

Expensive, no privacy in shower and toilet

For some reason, there are no proper doors for the toilet and the shower. Shower has a partially clear glass door with a hole instead of a handle. Toilet has a door without a lock or even a handle, with gaps at the top and bottom. Basically, there is no privacy at all for neither the toilet nor the shower. Anyone using them is almost within the room. It's not clear what they saved by not putting normal doors for shower/toilet. Even one door for both would have been better.
Breakfast is 13 chf extra if you pay for it at check-in. If you don't decide at check-in, it's 16 chf. Parking is 20 chf per day. For the price of this hotel, they could have provided the parking for free!
The hotel is near the lake, in Paradiso. It's about 20 minutes walk to Lugano proper.
Service provided by the staff was good.

The Ibis hotel in Lugano is an absolute disgrace I would not leave my dog or cat stay there as they could catch flees. However if you wanted to bring a lady of the night there well that is a different story. The hotel is filthy, noisy and the staff are ignorant and rude.

Location is great. Close to various bus stops and station - although taking the bus for the central station is recommended if you have luggage as the walk from the station is not too convenient. Staff is super friendly. Did not try the breakfast as there is an amazing Swiss Tearoom across the road. Room was filthy though - to the extent where you could see that the door has not been cleaned in a while due to dust collected

Checkin staff was friendly and location great (thought hard to find a bad spot in this city - it's all beautiful)! The building is shared with the Novotel and 'standard' Ibis - your floor and room number dictate the style of room you get. This Ibis Budget room was just 'ok' - the bed comfortable enough but there was no air conditioning turned on during my stay and the room got quite stuffy. Even with the window open not much air circulation. The shower head when turned on kept forcing itself to point at the shower wall due to the pressure going towards the hose. I had to use it handheld as I could not keep it aimed at me. Parking is 20 CHF/day compared to 40 if you are not staying in the hotel. Compared to the 'standard' Ibis room, I would pick that over this room if I had the choice next time.

Air conditioning not adjustable --> was way to warm. Opening the window was not an option, too loud and very bright street lights.
Staff is unfriendly and unhelpful:
1. Wanted to go for a swim and was, after asking about the local public pool/lake bath was pointed do one of two, but actually both were closed for the season. I'd have expected them to know that or at least to offered for checking.
2. Was offered breakfast for 13.- p/p, which we turned down the evening before explaining, that we rather decide in the morning. In the morning we did so, but instead 13, we've been asked for 16.- per Person. If they would have told us, there is a late fee, we'd have made a choice the night before.

Ideal for backpackers who are sharing a room as there was a bunk bed above the double bed. Otherwise, the hotel room was cramped with poor facilities (the toilet door has a gap underneath and the separate shower has a frosted glass door). A poor experience.

Great location....only 15 minute walk along beautiful Lake Lugano to historic downtown. Quiet street with lots of good restaurants near by. The room is basic but clean and very new. The Staff was very friendly and the morning breakfast was good value. Quality/Price was appropriate.

A great budget option

A great budget option for Lugano. The room had everything we needed and the local area was great.
There is a construction site next door, but no noise heard - and it's not like I stay in my room during the day on holidays anyhow. The staff were great and I loved that I could catch a cheap ferry into the centre of the old town in 10 minutes.
