I got sick while in Lugano and spent a couple full days in my room. I was so grateful to be at this hotel. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful and the room and beds very comfortable. The pool kept the kids busy. Once I felt better I appreciated the location. It’s right near the lake and an easy walk to the center.

Very clean and comfortable hotel with great breakfast. But strange that the hotel would run out of coffee for the rooms for 2 of the days I was there. Not just a random Miss but also the same for colleagues at the hotel. Front desk nor the bar they sent us to could help us get coffee. At checkout the staff just laughed and said sorry.

This property did not honor my service dog and was very disrespectful and lacked any kind of sympathy all they cared about was getting their fee for the night.

The property itself is across the street from construction, very noise and starts very early in the morning.

The cleaning staff took it upon themselves to open the window and let the construction dust into the room.

Well-located, right next to the train that climbs to the top of the mountain.

Good options for breakfast, the only complaint is you have to reserve your time slot for breakfast, otherwise, they don't give you a table unless is outside.

Staff, some are nice but others are very rude like an old lady at the front desk who complains to every guest checking in on the hotel with an Expedia reservation. She asked why we book through Expedia instead of booking directly to the hotel. They ask you to pay the full amount on the moment you check in. If you need any kind of accommodation they just said that they can't do anything since you book with Expedia. If it hadn't been for Expedia we wouldn't have stayed at that hotel. If it bothers them so much, don't use it to advertise.

We booked Novotel Lugano Paradiso for a family stay. We were not sure it was the right fit for us because it's more of a business and not a family hotel, but it exceeded our expectations. The hotel is sparkling clean, which made us feel at ease with the COVID-19 situation. There's extra care in providing hand sanitizer in the common areas. The pool was nice and only a limited number of people could go in at a time. The breakfast buffet was well managed and the staff took extra care of the guests to ensure enough distance between people. All staff wore a mask at all times. We recommend this hotel, for family or business trips.

My 2 kids and I were going to SwissMiniatur park in Melide and this was the perfect accommodation. It was within walking distance to the train station and Local Bus No 2 is a few steps from the hotel. We were delighted to see that the funicular to Monte San Salvatore is a few meters away, and the stop for the city tour is just outside the hotel. The hotel also gave a free pass for local transportation and a pass that gives discounts to museums and other modes of transportation for the region. We felt safe and comfortable. We will certainly book here again if we come back.

What i didn't like
1- Charging 20euro/day for car park. (This is nor fair already charging 250-300 euro per night no need to charge 20 for park. I didn’t mind to pay 300 euro night but 20 euro for car park bothered me
2- Breakfast was not reach. Also even though it says till 11 if you go 10:30 no bread left then you will not get more bread
3- you can not get glass of water from checkin after you checked in, you will be reminded that that lemon water from picnic bucket is only checking customers
4- Also no candy for your 3 year old from
Lobby only for priority checkin customers

I don’t understand who comes with these rules. You say you are not customer you are our guest but you say no to 3 year old kid who just wanted to have a small candy from the jar.

We stayed at Novotel hotel in July 2019. We had a great experience! They offer great amenities such as free local transportation, scooters to help with touring the area (which you must place a 150 franc deposit down) and much more. The only bad thing was we were under the impression we were going to get free breakfast as our booking had told us but they only offer free breakfast on weekends (Saturday-Sunday). Overall, clean and great room!

So it’s a Novotel! And it’s not cheap!! We booked 3 rooms in April and got there just after check in time! How ever it took us 1 hours to check in and the reception staff seemed so agitated for God knows what! The guy at the reception looked at us as if we were from another world! I can’t say racist as he was the same with another lady who checked in with us. But I wouldn’t book this hotel again! The rooms were average Novotel standard! The only good thing was the breakfast staff and the hote is not even in Lugano central it’s in Lugano paradiso!

You know what you are getting - standard Novotel property. Everything clean and in good condition; no complaints. The hotel is well-situated for central Paradiso - short walk to the lake and the funicular. I recommend a trip up the funicular to the top of the mountain for great views. A small tip - go to the church at the top and at the back is a flight of stairs that takes you right up to the top of the building.

Great spot for family weekend in Lugano

Friendly staff, great morning buffet, nice pool area, water & food bites in the lobby, a game table in the entrance - kids have everything they need! Near the Lugano Paradiso station and walking distance from the boardwalk. I would go back anytime!

Hotel was amazing for the budget and much better than the Ibis next door. Breakfast was great. Only negative was my hotel room stank of cigarette smoke and the windows were left wide open (clearly to get rid of the smell) and yet i was still put in that room. If I had had more time I would have complained and asked for a new room.

High quality and friendly hotel

We stayed at the hotel for 4 days enjoying all of that Lugano provides. Whilst not directly on the lake and there being some building work going on around the hotel it did not matter as the high quality of the hotel more than made up any small shortcomings. The staff were fantastic and friendly. The servicing of the room was of a high standard and the breakfasts were superb. The free wifi was very fast and we were able to connect multiple devices without any problems. Very quiet neighbourhood relative to Lugano central which suited us. We would recommend to others.

A fabulous stay at Lake Lugano

Having just experienced a nine day stay at Novotel Lugano Paradiso I can't rate this hotel high enough. From the moment that we arrived we were given VIP treatment and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We were impressed by the professional attitude of both the reception staff and also the waitresses who were prepared to give advice on places to visit and best restaurants to use. The accommodation is excellent and spotlessly clean.

One Swiss Stop

Great hotel with modern very nice rooms. Hotel bar is nice to have too. One issue is that it not central to shops or restaurants. It is a bit of a hike and taxis are not easy to find. It is close to one port for boat trips and to the funicular. Lugano is very beautiful, but lacks things to do.

We stayed at this hotel twice - it was a stopping point for us on a Zurich to Tuscany vacation and back. The hotel is clean, modern and the staff is friendly. If you have children, they provide rollaway beds that are comfortable but expect them to crowd the room, because the rooms although well appointed, are small. I highly recomend opting for the included breakfast option - the breakfast buffett is excellent.
One thing to note - if you take a cab instead of walking, beware. We were taken for a \"tour\" and the driver acted like he couldnt understand our English when we were asking where he was taking us (on what was supposed to be a quick back ride from downtown). When he said the fare was $32.00 I pointed for him to come into the hotel before I paid him so that I could report his unexceptable choice of routs. He suddenly spoke excellent English. I paid the $32.00 because it just was not worth causing a scene. The hotel manager said she would report him to the cab company and that was good enough for me.

Overall stay was ok. The rooms are small and claustrophobic. Even though it is rated as four stars the room amenities are basic and utilitarian with a focus towards saving time and money for hotel staff. Even though we stayed for four days the coffee supplies including coffee cups were not replenished. The beds are two twins together to make a queen sized bed with uncomfortable mattresses. The room looked like a dorm room at best. The hotel lobby and breakfast areas were nice. The hotel is conjoined to two other budget facilities owned by the same group. We did not get value for the room rent.

Very nice hotel!

Modern hotel. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Delicious food, well prepared. Breakfast had many good, fresh choices. Although room was a bit smaller than most in U.S., it was well appointed. Close walk to lake. Overall, a very nice choice! Would definitely book this hotel again!

Good choice for families

The hotel is a bit away from downtown but well served by bus. Adults could certainly walk to the main Lugano harbor, but perhaps not kids. Our kids always like getting a gift upon check-in at Novotels. The outdoor pool is nice.

The hotel is newly built. Everything was new and we felt that we were the first users of the facility! It is located in a great location with proximity to Lugano-paradiso train station and San Salvatore Funicular that takes people up the hill with a great panorama view of the city.

Modern hotel that ticks all the boxes but somehow feels overpriced and a bit lacking in character. In the Paradiso part of Lugano, so a 20-minute walk or short bus ride from the city centre, and surrounded by other hotels, so you feel you could be in a seaside resort rather than a stylish Swiss town. Expensive for what you get (breakfast is extra) and even if it says 'all taxes and charges included' you still get stung with the hefty city tax per person on checking out. Staff could be friendlier.

The hotel was very nice and modern. There was quite a bit of construction going on around the hotel however, starting at 7:30AM. The rooms were very nice (single bed), but pretty small. Great location right next to the funicular up San Salvatore and just two blocks from the lake. About a 15 minute walk to the main center of town.

Location is too far from the center and one member of staff was un-welcoming, careless and clearly wanted to be somewhere else other than working in the hotel.

As well as other staff not being trained in the basics of hotel management. I will not stay here again.

We appreciated the front desk staff's suggestions regarding sightseeing and restaurants. Take a train or cab from the main Lugano train/bus station to Lugano-Paradiso if you have a lot of luggage. It is a 20 minute walk between Lugano and Lugano-Paradiso. We recommend getting drinks between 6-7pm in Lugano because most restaurants give free appetizers. The best pizza in Lugano is at Argentino's. A boat ride around Lake Lugano is a must. The small town of Corona has some wonderful quaint restaurants. Corona can be reached via the funicular in Lugano-Paradiso and a short hike. Take a short train ride to Bellinzona on Saturday morning for the open air market in the summer. Plus it is home to some beautiful castles.

Séjour correct dans l’ensemble, mais une réelle déception au petit-déjeuner et une chambre vieillissante

Lorsque l’on paie plus de 350 CHF la nuit plus 23 CHF pour la voiture , on s’attend légitimement à une expérience cohérente avec le standing annoncé. Or, découvrir sur la table du petit-déjeuner une pancarte moralisatrice du type « Feed your body, not the trash can. Take what you want to eat, eat all you take. » donne une impression très maladroite, presque culpabilisante pour le client.

La lutte contre le gaspillage est un sujet sérieux, mais elle mérite d’être abordée avec élégance et cohérence. D’autant plus que l’état du mobilier — chaises visiblement usées et fatiguées — ne correspond pas au niveau de prix pratiqué.

Avant de faire la leçon aux clients, il serait préférable de soigner l’état des installations et l’expérience globale. Le message passerait sans doute mieux.

Enfin, il est important de préciser que dans ce bâtiment, les hôtels Ibis Budget, Ibis et Novotel partagent désormais la même réception et la même salle de petit-déjeuner. Tous les clients se retrouvent donc dans un espace commun, indépendamment de la catégorie de l’hôtel réservé. Cette organisation pose clairement question au regard du tarif élevé pratiqué par le Novotel.
