The hotel itself could use a refresh in that it’s a little tired, but the staff were great and the room was clean and comfortable. There was an issue with our first room (a bad smell) and they changed and upgraded the room without question. They were also happy to store our bicycles while we were there.

This was a good hotel in a built up area, right across the road from the lake. We booked a room on the side of the hotel with a partial view of the lake and after initially giving us the wrong room, they corrected it immediately. Our room was comfortable and quiet (with the windows closed) and had a small balcony where we sat and enjoyed a view of part of the lake. The bathroom was a standard hotel bathroom. The buffet breakfast was pretty good, not awesome, but there was a lot of choice and the coffee was excellent. The hotel was within comfortable walking distance of Lugano center and just 10 minutes from the funicular that goes to the top of San Salvatore (well worth it!), so thumbs up on location. In my view it was expensive for what it was. Our other hotels in Switzerland were all less expensive. But perhaps being on the lake in Lugano in August is just at a premium.

Great property right in front of lake Lugano, in perfect condition. My room was large (strange for Europe, though easier to find in Switzerland), had lots of light and excellent views. The hotel is 10 minutes walking from the centre, and the area (Paradiso) is very nice as well. Breakfast was good though not exhuberant, which was fine with me and my family. Bathroom was luminous and spacious. Mattresses could be a bit better, but overall the experience was excellent.

The room was a pretty standard hotel room, nothing very special (just a small balcony with a tiny partial view of the lake) but it was clean and well maintained, and had very good air conditioning, which was definitely needed in August. The common areas of the hotel (lobby, hallways) are also well maintained, but the decor is not very thoughtful or inspiring—quite bland hotel decor. The restaurant and bar areas are lovely, and the included breakfast buffet is excellent, with lots of options for all tastes. The location is right on the lake, a short walk from both Paradiso and Piazza Riforma (wonderful area for restaurants and shopping), and is also right across the street from the dock where you can take a ferry ride to Morcote, which should NOT be missed. We had a very nice stay here!

I liked the location & the staff. However, rest didn’t meet the standards needed for a 4 star experience. We had a junior suite and during the 2 night of our stay, we noticed some insects and bugs crawling around the wall. While the room was clean, it was strange to see this. The next day we notified the staff & I hope it has been resolved since. We paid a lot for our 2 night stay and didn’t expect this experience.

This an older property in a wonderful location. The facility needs some upgrading though the excellent staff do their best to compensate for the facility shortcomings. It is located right on the promenade enabling an easy walk to all the activities on the lake. It is also a short (and pleasant) walk to downtown Lugano.

Overall a descent stay. We only stayed for one night. The room were clean and spacey. After check-in we wanted to relax by the pool and enjoy a beer or two. However, the restaurant was closed, and there were no bar service at all. The hotel is by no means bad, it's a descent hotel, but, way overpriced. The location however is top notch.

Overall a nice hotel with friendly service

The hotel is clean and located in a very nice area. There are bus stations near to the hotel. Since we had our kid with us, we had asked for a cot and we had received confirmation about it from the hotel, but the cot was not ready when we got the room. The surprising thing was that atbthe hotel the it was difficult to understand that a baby cot needs also bed sheets. Later housekeeping provided us with all the required sheets and covers.
The breakfast was OK, even though it could be much better for a 4 star hotel. We had a problem with the blind of the balcony door and they tried to repair it while we were staying at the room, which was inconvenient for us. But, we got compensation for the inconvenience.

Classic hotel but too far from city center for me.

The hotel has a nice location on the lake, but is a long walk into the heart of Lugano. That’s ok for the exercise and exploring, but not convenient for finding dinner places in the car-free center of town. Dinner choices nearby are limited to 2-3 plus the hotel itself.
Otherwise staff were great and hotel is an old classic that has tried to keep updated.

We entered our rooms around 10pm and it was so hot & humid in the room we just left the bags and went for a 2.5 hour walk with the AC on full blast and still the room was smelly, hot and stuffy. 1 of the 2 rooms was slightly cooler and we put the kids to bed snd we couldn’t sleep until past 2am due to the heat and humidity. We called the front desk and nobody even came up. I don’t even want to talk about the poor lighting, old (not clean looking) bedding, lack of pillows and I have stayed in 4 star hotels all over the world and this was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at with a 4 star designation.

Hotel is well-situated for a nice romantic weekend. Good location a short walk from the Monte San Salvatore furnicular and across from the Paradise boat stop to Gandria (both of which are half-day adventures we highly recommend. Take the boat to Elvezia and walk back 5 minutes for lunch at the Lido San Domenico cafe before continuing on by boat or foot to Gandria. For the furnicular, go early to beat the lines and if you get a room on the furnicular side of the hotel you can watch the climb up the mountain).

Hotel has great views, including from our partial view terrace and from the 5th floor conference room, where you can check out the view even if your room doesn't have a good view. Reception staff is nice and welcoming but, perhaps due to Easter and COVID, the wait staff in the restaurant was overwhelmed and incredibly slow at both dinner and breakfast. Food mediocre but given COVID any restaurant was welcome. Next time we would order takeout from the pizza place two doors down or Alice's kitchen in the heart of Lugano..

Rooms are a bit small but clean and the bedding was comfortable despite being the European style twins pushed together to almost make a queen bed. It's a two-stop bus ride or a 15-minute walk to the heart of Lugano's shops and sights, which we didn't mind.

The other downside was over 50chf/night for offsite parking, which the hotel didn't warn us about. Still we had a wonderful time.

This hotel is a few minutes walk from the main area. That’s not a problem. Check in with very friendly staff. Then told that they don’t accept Euros and that you should change your money. Not good for a one day stay. The room was ok - sitcom worked a treat and the small balcony served its purpose. Beds hard and really the furniture was 70s and out dated. Slpt well though. Bathroom big and roomy - biggest bath I have ever seen. Modern - which clashes with the dated room. Breakfast basic with staff slightly unfriendly. With city tax the cost was about £250 which I thought expensive ( maybe that’s the rate though). I would stay again , but wouldn’t rush to book

Beautiful old school hotel, full of Uuropean charm. The goods: great view on the 5th floor restaurant for the breakfast, great staff, great view on the lake. Only \"cons\": the breakfast is good, but it's always the same thing, and from time to time, it's not incredibly fresh, only ok. It's a 10 minutes walk along the lake form downtown Lugano. You can take a bus (free with the coupon they give you at the hotel) to be there in 5.

Comfortable hotel with very friendly staff great selection on the TV channels with a fantastic location , breakfast selection was poor as was the selection from room service with limited time of service , cleaning service was good , the hotel is within walking distance of most major shopping districts of Lugano and if you go to your right as you exit the hotel there are several good restaurants there is one Indian average place but after it there is a great seafood restaurant I cannot remember the name but it was out of the World all fresh their Sole and Monkfish are outstanding .
The reception staff at the hotel are co-operative and helpful do not hesitate to ask for their help , there is a very small and primitive elevator , though charming , if they are busy it could take a while to get your turn , when I was there one day there was an Asian tourist group it was torture to get down when they were checking out , you can only take one bag at a time into the elevator, also parking is an issue , there is some parking in front of the hotel but only for compact cars , if you have a van try talking to reception for arranging a parking spot on the side of the hotel .
Foxtown outlet mall is about a fifteen minute drive out they have a great selection of high end luxury goods at good deals there is also a alpine zip line near by great for a family outing also Lucerne is about two hours away with all it’s history and scenery a beautiful city , Just avoid the weekends at all costs I

No \"Partial View\" of Lake

Room was supposed to have partial view of the lake. Don't know how that would be possible considering we were on the complete opposite (back) side of the building!

So wasted money spent on a \"room with a view\" aside, the staff was very friendly, the breakfast was great, and they had parking, although not free, right in front of the hotel. The hotel location is excellent.

What a gem on the lake!

This must be the best of all Best Western properties world wide. Everything was just great. Our room on the first (European count) floor had a nice balcony overlooking Lake Lugano. When one wakes up to a stunning view such as the one of Lake Lugano, the day can only be good. One minor objection: the Wifi signal in the room is pretty bad.

Lakefront Hotel Room w/ Overstated Features & Svc.

This Bestwestern does not meet the Advertised Expectations. My hotel visit was five (5) nights.

1. The pool was empty upon arrival and the condescending young hotel manager said I could use the \"public lake, located 100 meters away\". Manager did not understand the difference in a premium priced hotel pool and public lake.

2. The elevator broke for the evening, leaving me with two (2) heavy bags and 5 flights of stairs, to climb. The elevator problem seemed familiar, since it was repaired within 5 hours of my report. This was a concerning workout, since I am a young father and heart attack survivor, 4 months prior.

3. When the buses dropped off guests, it was obvious they were not staffed for the increased amount of guests. The restaurant was not refilling the buffet.

4. One evening, the hotel bedding smelled like body odor, upon arrival from work. I was thoroughly disgusted. Fortunately, my room included two (2) beds and I simply swapped the bedding.

5. The Lake View and Partial Lake View is an overstatement. THERE IS NO LAKE VIEW FROM THE ROOM and you need to look from balcony for a limited view ... some balconies are worse than others.

The Director of the hotel was made aware of the numerous shortcomings and would not be interrupted from his solo dinner, at his patio/bar. Hotel manager provided 70,000 Bestwestern Pts for a future stay (if I was a point member?). Hotel showed no remorse or professional pride.

The hotel rating is definitely far from reality. Hotel decor is \"old\" and feels stuffy.. Personnel helpful but not thorough (they made me pay twice for the room...). Room rather small. There was a building site just across the hotel, that did not improve the overall feeling. Breakfast correct, ambience very stuffy.
Wifi did not work in the room, very slow and patchy in the entrance hall. Definitely you can get a much better deal for just a bit more money (Continental Parkhotel for instance or the Victoria au Lac)

Negativ war, dass wir beim Checkin nicht gefragt wurden, ob wir eine Gästekarte (Ticino-Card) haben wollen. Wir hätten bei den Schifffahrten auf dem See damit viel Geld gespart. Die Entschuldigung beim Checkout war eher mäßig.
Positiv war, dass wir am ersten Tag beim Frühstück Spiegeleier bekommen haben, obwohl das eigentlich nicht inkludiert war.
Alles in allem also ein gemischtes Ergebnis.

A very great hotel

since I booked at Principal at last 3 years I tried another hotel and actually I am not disappointed. The bad is, that dogs are not allowed in Best Western but they were very belied as we check in with our dog.

Ein Tag in Lugano.

Sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Service am Empfang.
Die Küche war vorzüglich. Vom Zimmer mit Balkon hatten wir einen wunderbaren Blick auf den See.
Leider war die Klimaanlage etwas laut.
