My partner and I loved our stay at San Carlo Suite. The location of this apartment is smack-bang in the center of Via del Corso, which was so close to everywhere we needed to go. There were bus stops nearby to help us get to the Colosseum rather than walking in the heat. Definitely recommend this place and would love to stay again. Thank you, San Carlo Suite! :)

The property was nice and clean! Easy to access too.
The staff was really nice and very understandable, and I'll never forget how they helped us with our extra luggage for few days! It helped us a lot!
The only thing that bothered us a bit, is the fact that we booked for 2 adults 1 toddler room, but we got only a double bed. It did not bother us a lot but it was the only stain in our stay.

This was a lovely property with great location near the Spanish Steps. Cozy accommodation and a really nice jacuzzi. Very reasonable price. The minor issue was the strong smell of cigarettes even though it is prohibited to smoke in the property.

excelent location!!! the staff was really helpfull, the room was kind of small but had everything, and a good view to Corso St.
The shower did not have a place to put the soap an shampoo, which was kind of odd.
Very near Spanish steps, shopping and dining options, we could walk everywhere, Trevi Fountain, Plaza Venezia, Plaza Navona, Spanish steps, and the metro station.

Great staff & location, close to a great shopping area with many restaurants nearby. Room was very clean. Only complaint was that the room temperature was way to high and there was no way to adjust it so had to sleep with the window open and could hear all of the traffic throughout the late night/early morning.

This hotel is very conveniently located near a lot of historic/tourist sites, shopping, and dining options.

The rooms and hotel are clean.

The staff was friendly and attentive.

Problem - the historic elevator. If you don't mind randomly adding extra steps to your day then this is the place for you. Situation - frequently the doors to the elevator have to be HELD closed from within to move. So if someone takes the elevator from the ground floor to the 4th floor it can get stuck there until someone brings it down. Consequently, it will now be on the groung floor and may or may not come up to the floor you need.

The property is certainly quirky and in a great central location with a lot of shops, restaurants and tourist attractions within walking distance. It is fairly well maintained and in general clean with a comfy bed and a very large hot tub in the room, and even though you will claim you will never use it - I bet you do!
Although it’s location is a great asset, it is on a very busy street, and if your room overlooks the street you will get a lot of noise up to about 11.00 pm and it starts again about 7.30 am. There is also a local busker who is well established just out side with his electric Guitar and amplifier and he is the most of the day and does not seem to stop very often! You also get noise from inside the building.

Fantastic location , luxury style rooms and great friendly staff. Would highly highly recommend and will stay again when back in Rome. A lot of the attractions were a pleasant walk from this hotel and you can get taxis from just across the street. Walling distance from a lot of shops also and nice restaurants.

My wife and I made a last minute booking, due to train cancellations. We were were positively greeted by Glen, very polite and attentive! Hard Worker! Glen sorted out everything, so that the stay went smoothly and at the same time keeping his customer service to the maximum. Glen explained the room features and guided about the Breakfast.

The room was perfect, everything was on point, would recommend having toothbrushes available in the room, but I didn’t ask and not sure if it’s available upon request. But never mind, there’s a 24hour supermarket around the corner.

I wish this hotel all the best, your all doing great, thank you for the wonderful experience and thank you Glen for your great customer service!

Quick 24 hour stay before traveling up north and it was perfect for my needs. I stayed by myself and it may have been a bit cramped if I had another person in the room. It's a really great place to stay if you're looking for a place that's easily walkable to many of the sites and is only 15 mins from the train station as well.

The location and service of the staff was excellent, however, the room was different to the one I thought I bought which was obviously disappointing.
Breakfast was a limited choice and unfortunately one of the days the milk was off and then we had a despute whether us was off or not even though it was coming out like cream.
We also had maintenance barge into our room whilst my other half was in the shower, which I found quite rude because they didn’t knock.

The information and friendliness of the staff was exceptional though, couldn’t fault it. Just a shame about the other issues.

Very spacious room for 3 people. The staff was very nice and really helpful for recommendations. The breakfast was abundant and the service was impeccable. It is in a shopping area, close to Piazza de Popolo so it was very convenient to get to the center of town. It is on a busy street but the rooms are still quiet. The air conditioned works great and the bathroom is beautiful, state of the art. The only inconvenience was at check-in as we didn't know the reception desk was on the first floor. There are no signs or indications on the ground floor by the elevator.

It doesn't have a proper entrance. It is an appartment building where they have two appartments for the rooms. You will regret staying there! I asked the hotel multiple time to leave and they refused to issue a refund. Very very bad property. Again it is not a hotel.

The hotel is in a non-descriptive building and there were garbage bins at the entrance. We picked the hotel because it said that it had parking, but that was not true. When we got there, we discovered that parking could only be arranged in advance. Not only that, the nearest parking place was very far away. It was very disappointing.

Not a suite and No luxury

This hotel is NOT accessible by car. The only sign of this hotel visible from the street is no bigger than an business card. Front desk is on first floor with no signage. The website indicated that there is nearby parking but it is a 20 minute walk through substation, stairs, and street after street. NOT nearby as indicated. The superior suite is smaller than a average hotel room. No couch, no desk, no storage, no luggage rack. Hot can this be a suite? The staff is helpful but it is a one man operation. Photos on the website is deceiving because of mirrors and wide angle lens. I left the room at around 8:45am to get my car but the house keeping staff is already clean the room with my luggage still in the room.

Good location for walking and shopping around but we made the mistake to book the apartment and not the room, which was on a 4th floor with no elavator, and not on the same building, the building was so old that it was hard to use the entry key. Good wifi, but mosquitos killed us a night time.

Big space BUT pass if you have a family

THE GOOD:
- Excellent location.
- The apartment is big. With the kitchen, we were able to make our own meals since Rome was the tail end of our vacation.
- The lobby handling the apartment are great folks.

THE BAD:
Getting to the apartment:
- Hotels.com have the address wrong. It takes you to another San Carlos Hotel and they are pretty rude to redirect you since I can tell it happens quite a bit.
- The apartment is not in the same building as the lobby where you check in.
- So you end up going to 3 different locations before even getting to your place.

4th floor with no elevator:
- Hotels.com says there's an elevator in amenities but there is not in one of the list. So be prepared to walk up flights of stairs with your luggage!

NO PHONE:
- The apartment does NOT have a phone. The phone in there is for the door and if you do want to call them, you would have to use your own phone.

HOT WATER:
- The place has a very small Hot Water tank and it is only set up to have enough hot water for 1 shower/bath.
- I've called to ask them to fix it but none came.
- Unacceptable if you ask me considering a shower after long day of walking is a necessity.

BUILDING CONDITION:
- The stairs are pretty steep.
- The walls on some floors are scraped and unkept with the bricks/wires showing.

NO TURNDOWN SERVICE:
- There is no one that will come to clean the unit, collect garbage or replace towels if you need to.

Monday: 6.30am constant rustling sounds outside our room, sounded like bins being taken out. The sliding door continuously opened and closed with the person coming in and out, which means that it was someone to do with the hotel. We did not mention anything in the morning, as we thought it was the start of the week, so it was potentially the bin men. Tuesday: 6.45am and throughout the morning. Drilling and banging sounds from the room next door. It is out of their control as it was the builders making this noise. However, i went downstairs and told them about this noise and the noise on Monday. I was told the noise on Monday was a guest and he would speak to the builders to be quiet. Wednesday: 6.30am woken up by the sound of two men outside our room whispering and sawing/drilling! We tried to sleep through this but it was not possible. I tried to ring the reception but no one is there to speak to at this time. At 8am i went downstairs to speak to reception and noticed that the two men were fixing cables behind the red chair in the corridor. I went down to reception there was nobody there, so I had to speak to a lady via Skype. I mentioned to her that the noise had started at 6.30am, to which she responded by saying that this was not possible and must have been a guest! I explained to her that it would not be likely that a guest would be drilling and sawing at 6:30am in a hotel, but again nothing was done.

The hotel location is excellent it is in walking distance to all the sites, only s few steps away from the Spanish steps, and excellent shopping. I would definetly recemmend this hotel to anyone.

Nice Apartment, but not quite the Pictures

San Carlo Suites are located in the heart of Rome, near the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo. They have typical hotel rooms as well as apartment style spaces for rent. We stayed in the Apartments, which are 50m away from the check-in desk - which is on the 2nd floor of another building, and easily missed if you don't look carefully. The staff is very friendly and sent out emails prior to our arrival to make sure we were checking in at a time when they would have someone to provide keys. We got an excellent price due to November being a relatively slower tourist month in the city, but the rooms don't quite live up to the photos you see on Expedia or Hotels.com. The spaces are large, clean, comfortable and quiet but not quite as glamorous as you're led to believe online. There is also a cleaning fee that is a bit high, and adds to the cost of the room. There was a fireplace in our room, but it was wood burning and had no shield, so I'm doubtful it was operational. There is no breakfast provided if you're staying in the apartment, but the location is excellent - minutes away from landmarks and the Metro.

This hotel is different/weird and not disclosed when booking. First off, they do not have 24 hour desk service which I did not like and did not initially make me feel as secure. They had e-mailed me a day before our trip asking what time I would be arriving because someone needed to buzz us into the hotel in order to check in as it does not look like a hotel from the outside. Then when we checked in we spoke with a lady on a computer monitor. Any time during our trip we needed hers or anyone's assistance we had to speak with her via the computer screen. It was very odd to me. I didn't understand why she couldn't just be at a desk in the room.

Nice apartment in good location, hand held shower nozzle which did not have a bracket to make it stand alone made showering very difficult and messy. Also there where no tea or coffee supplied in the kitchen, and no hair dryer, this seemed odd given there were 2 TVs I guess there priorities were a little displaced. All in all though it was a generous space.

Amazing boutique hotel. Very quite. Great staff. Located in the middle of everything as far as restaurant, shopping, museums and much more. Walking distance to many things. The breakfast was great. A mix of hot and cold items with a variety or pastries and more.
**Remember this is a boutique hotel and the hours are limited. Should you need anything after 8pm you should make prior arrangements before.
*Remember your key! No after hours assistance available.
Overall a great hotel! I would stay here again! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Enjoy ;)

It is a hotel with a virtual recepcion, thats why when we just arrived, there where nobody to open up the door for us. But then the recepcionist make us feel just great and send us a bucket of fruit. The staff where so nice and helped us in everything they can. We definetely will come back!

They checked us into Frattina Terrace apartment on 4th Floor with no lift, which we hadn't booked. On complaining, they moved us to a very good apartment on 2nd floor in another building with lift. The 3 nights were very good experience and enjoyed the facilities in the apartment. Thanks to staff and appreciate their help. Close to Spanish Steps.
Will book again in that hotel. But be careful when hotels talk about annexe/another facility nearby.

I wasn't told the apartment was five floors up with no elevator in the building. One morning the hot water didn't work so I took a cold shower. The bed was uncomfortable, and gnats buzzed around my ears at night. The hotel worker was nice and the apartment looked nice, but given the above I would not stay here again.

We used the private driver service they provide from the airport which took all the stress out of travel to the suite. Once there we were \"wowed\" by the entire experience. Fantastic location, less than 5 minutes to Spanish steps and your by all designer shops. The hotel looked as fresh as the day it opened. Immaculate throughout. Very quirky. Enjoyed the conplimentry afternoon beverages. It was like a second home. If I come back to Rome I will stay here again

Brilliant location

The location of the apartment is brilliant. Walking distance to everything.

However... it's up a lot of steps (we counted 92). There are lots of low clearances, fine if you're a regular height but my partner is 6.6\".

There's no shower, just a shower head over the bath. As there's no screen, you soak the bathroom, and once again not high enough for my partner to stand up.

The main bed is 2 singles pushed togerher, and it's incredibly hard.

In addition, you're charged £40 final cleaning, which is rich considering the bath room wasn't clean when we arrived.

There's no info about the wifi, or the apartment itself for that matter.

All that being said, for a weekend break the location is unbeatable and there is a lovely terrace balcony.

Nice hotel, close to the main parts of Rome that we wanted to see. We were able to walk pretty well everywhere. It was modern and clean and we were able to check in after check in time, which was very nice. Check in was a bit confusing and there is no reception at the actual hotel (just virtual reception) which was a little confusing. Overall a very nice place and we would gladly stay there again.

Pleasant and friendly hotel which we would recommend staying here if you want to access the shops and restaurants easily. Vatican and Colosseum are both 10 minutes away in a taxi. It's not operated like your average hotel as they only have staff available from 8am to 8pm.

They tried to help us reclaim our luggage that had been lost by Austrian Airlines on the way to Rome but nobody could get through.

What a gem! After some digging, I found San Carlo online. It's a modern and comfortable boutique hotel. Who cares if there's not a 24-hour front office person on-site! Whenever I needed something, I was able to reach a virtual receptionist.

Fantastic Location and Hotel

Absolutely loved this hotel! It was my first time to Rome and the location alone was fantastic, shops right on your door step with the Spanish Steps 5 min walk away.

Taxi area across the road from the hotel and only cost around 8/9 euro in each direction we went (coliseum, Vatican City, trevi fountain)

Staff was friendly arranged a private airport transfer for 60 euro which was a modern bmw and arriving in comfort was a great start to our holiday. Checking out our flight was 6 hours after check out and we was allowed to leave our luggage there whilst we waited.

The room was cosy, loads of room for me and my girlfriend, bed was comfortable and an easy nights sleep.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a city break. 5* .

Modern Luxury in the central Rome

Our room was very clean with state of the art conveniences. We stayed in the Babuino room with a sofa bed, which was perfect for our son. The fireplace was a nice feature, but the jaccuzi was very slow to fill with water. The bathroom was top notch and the shower was the best! The size of the hotel, combined with the staff made us feel as if we were home.

A/C broken. Staff lied.

One our first night, the A/C stopped working and the tech couldn't fix it. So, we had to open our window onto a busy and very noisy Roman street (motorcycles, narrow street, tall buildings). We didn't sleep much. They would not refund our money, so we left for another hotel, after telling the manager this. We are appealing the charges for both nights with Travelocity and with Visa, since they did not provide the room, as advertised. Even with a non-refundable reservation, a hotel must provide the service as listed. Worse, the manager, Silvia, lied in a follow-up email by saying that she offered us upgraded rooms, when I had told her that we were offended by her not refunding our funds for the first night and so were leaving. Do not stay in this place.
My visit there five years ago was fine, but they since have upgraded to a new card key system that controls the lights and A/C (when you leave, you take your card, and these systems shut off). This requires sufficient wiring and breaker capacities, as many circuits then run through the card holder. Apparently, this hotel did not install a proper system.

Perfect Location!

I could not ask for a more perfect location, especially if you like to shop.
The spanish steps is a few minutes away and everywhere else was easy to get to. The staff was very friendly and nice. The hotel is small but very clean and simply designed which i like.
The location is just perfect and it is not even noisy. the only thing is do not get the room wiht the jacuzzi because it is right next to the kitchen and you can hear everything they are doing and if you want to sleep in, not a good idea, other than that, i would stay here again. They are for sure very nice and speak great english!

Excellent staff, location and service. Parking that this place offers is expensive, but you can ask them for a parking near by (about 10 blocks) that is half price (20 euros per ninght).

Try to get a room NOT facing the street since it is very noise.

Great stay. Gigo (not sure of spelling) was amazing. And Sylvia provided great service to us before we even arrived. The idea of the \"remote\" concierge is perfect. For those that may have complained in the comments, the hotel is very clear about this and what it entails. I will recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Unique and enjoyable stay ****

Excellent stay, location of apartment is perfect with the main shopping area and Spanish Steps on the doorstep. Unusual set up in that we had to go to another hotel some distance away to check in (we checked in with Theresa who was extremely friendly) and were then subsequently taken to the apartment which us set in a really nice building. This wasn't a problem as it added to the experience but just unusual. apartment was very nice, clean and very comfortable. Nice set up in that you have a buffet breakfast which you can load up on, very friendly waiter who speaks excellent English. there was also an aperitivo bar of sorts and you helped yourself to nibbles and a variety of drinks .....loved the Aperol!). Thoroughly enjoyed our stay for 2 nights, we had a great deal on hotels.com and would happily stay again.
