The 4-star Hotel Josefshof am Rathaus is located in a quiet side street in the charming „Josefstadt“ district and impresses with its imperial flair and Viennese charm. The hotel is close to Vienna's city center and within a few minutes walking distance from Vienna's most famous sights: Vienna city hall, Vienna imperial palace, the museum district and the shopping street Mariahilferstraße.

Our rooms are equipped with modern facilities and bookable in two different styles: While our main building presents a touch of imperial Vienna, our art nouveau building stages a loving homage to the great artists of this time and their most famous motifs. Hotel Josefshof am Rathaus exceeded my expectations.  The cleaning staff visited everyday.  Unlike some hotels, they occasionally varied the breakfast buffet and accommodated my lactose intolerance by providing lactose-free yogurt and lactose-free lattes.  Unlike some hotels, they did have lots of staff.  It’s in a very cozy spot but it did take me a while to find.  When you walk along Auerspergstraße, turn left when you see the SENFT building and right beside it is the hotel.  I might forgo the buffet breakfast next time, as there are many grocery stores near the hotel where you can buy granola, yogurt and OJ for a quick breakfast.  There are 2 theatres in Josefstadt, one next to the hotel where they present English plays and one on Rotenturmstraße 20 where they present shows in German.  You can easily walk to the City Hall to go skating in the winter and I found the walk to the Leopold Museum a pleasant stroll.

We had a very friendly check in with Anna, and the hotel is in a very lovely quiet street, but only a short walk from the underground, and restaurants close by. It was very clean and the bar staff were lovely too. We didn't have the breakfast, as we felt it was very expensive, but we can highly recommend Cafe Eiles round the corner, which was about a 3rd of the price. It was so good, we went back for our evening meal. It was busy, and served lots of traditional Austrian food.

There are two sides of this hotel. We were on the old side. I would ask when booking what side you’re in. Our bed was very comfortable and typical to most European hotels the room was not very large. The location is perfect!! Seems out of the way and quiet when you get there but you’re literally a very, very short walk to everything. Trolley stops are very close and a five minute walk to Rathausplatz. Would definitely stay there again.

From the moment we checked in we were impressed by the Hotel Josefhof the ambience was warm and welcoming as was the check in process. Rooms were comfortable and well proportioned a little warm at times but not uncomfortably so. Nathan in the bar gave us some great tips and assistance to help us plan our stay. The hotel has no restaurant for evening meals but there are loads of choices nearby. The hotel is in a quiet street but within 5 minutes you are in the city centre. Check out was smooth with Anna being very affordable and helpful. Would definitely stay again 😊

So pleased we picked this hotel for our Vienna 8 night stay. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff at reception. All the staff we encountered, from reception to the people working the breakfast shift, to the house clearing staff were happy and friendly. Our room was spacious and well appointed. The bed was king sized and very comfortable. Our room was very clean and serviced daily. The breakfast was AMAZING. The best we encountered in all our month long European trip - and one of the best we have ever encountered in our world travels (close second to the breakfast at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong). Location wise, a short walk around the corner finds you at a tram stop to see the around Vienna (the tram system is fantastic in Vienna). But even if you don't want to use the tram, many interesting sites are still walkable. From the hotel, there are many dining options close by and a supermarket very close as well. We took a taxi from airport to the hotel... that was about 65 euro. Then taxi to the train station was about 19 euro. One small point of feedback - if they just placed a couple of extra hooks in the bathroom, and a shelf to place our toiletry bags, it would make one's stay even better!

Clean and very spacious room with everything we needed and wanted. My only feedback there is that the hair dryer was so old and weak that it wasn't effective and needs replacing.
The location is quiet and safe, and close to an UBahn station, and about 20 minute walk to the downtown core. Tons of good restaurants and shops nearby.
We had our most positive and memorable interactions with staff at this location. Nathan at the hotel bar provided us with lots of good information on things to see & do, and even wrote lots of tips down for us. Yorgi (unfortunately I cant remember the correct spelling) was also a friendly face at check in and check out and made us feel welcome.

Wonderful boutique hotel in Vienna

Excellent location and super friendly staff. The rooms are all unique as it was a former apartment building. Cozy bar and games room for pre or post dinner drinks. Room temperature was perfect, but for those particular about AC know it is centrally controlled. Great restaurants nd cafes close by.

Nice little hotel. Well located. Clean and comfortable. But I felt pressured by the description clerk to buy the hotel’s breakfast. Glad I didn’t because there is a fantastic 100 year old cafe very close by. I suggest you go without their 30 euro breakfast. Go left out the front door, left at the end of the block. Walk one block and Cafe is almost directly across the street.

Beautiful room in stylish hotel. Well located in quite spot within walking distance of city centre and museums. Didn’t bother catching public transport during our stay, other than to and from airport, which was easier than we had anticipated. Staff very friendly and breakfast was great, well worth the money. Excellent hotel

Hotel Josefshof am Rathaus is a gem in Vienna. The breakfasts are simply incredible—elaborate, fresh, and the perfect start to the day. The staff are warm, professional, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Rooms are spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering a restful stay. The location is ideal: tucked in a quiet, charming part of town right behind City Hall, Parliament, and the Supreme Court, yet just a short walk from all the major sights and only steps from the underground. Excellent restaurants are nearby as well. My only quibble is that the internet could be better in some of the upper rooms. That said, I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

Great Hotel.

The hotel was very user friendly. The staff was AMAZING. I LOVE that they do Breakfast till 12 p.m. That is a BIG PLUS. No restaurant on premise for lunch or dinner, but they do have pizza and sandwiches available with drinks till 12 am, so no big deal.Many great restaurants within walking distance. The only comment is for me the room was a bit small . Having said that everything in the room was in new to perfect condition. Would stay there again when in Vienna.

The location is great, easily accessible to underground, tram as well as hop-on hopoff tours. It is 10 mins walk from the main museums. Very good breakfast that included lox. Croissants were high quality. Very comfortable bed and effective ac, important as temperature went up into the low to mid 90’s, several days. Toilet cover fell off and I reported it but the problem was not completely rectified. People at reception aim to please which is a nice plus. Building is clean and not a lot of noise can be heard from soundproofed rooms. The price of rooms will not break the bank

We had a 3 night stay in this hotel. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was pleasant and clean. The bed was comfortable. The hotel was around 15-20 minutes walk from many of the main tourist spots in Vienna. There is not a restaurant for dinner but plenty of places not too far away. The hotel was being renovated externally but this did not disrupt our stay.
