Myself and the 3 children stayed here while visiting family in Barry, we usually stay with family but due to the current climate wanted to stay separately. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The restaurant had only just opened after restrictions lifted and they did the best to serve breakfast while maintaining social distance. The hotel is basic but that is the ‘express’ brand of Holiday Inn. All in I would recommend for a clean, affordable, short stay.

If I ever want to stay near Cardiff in the future, this is the place I would choose (30 mins by bus/train to city center). I stayed 3 nights at this hotel recently with my friend who was visiting from America, I have nothing negative to say about my stay here. It was absolutely perfect! Didn't like the catering staff shouting because we didn't want too much water in our porridge an there was some spillage of water, we were happy to clean this up has we been given the opportunity but the catering staff was determine to make her point this a focal point. not a very professional approach to deal with customer.

This was our first stay at this Hotel. We were a bit apprehensive but from the moment we entered the hotel the staff were absolutely brilliant!! Booked a bedroom for 3 and given 1 for 2 people, then regiven one for 3, go to the room and it was literally upside down, then helpful reception guy, went and prepared a third room for us but apart from the bedsheets the bathroom etc wasnt cleaned from the last stay and it wasnt a good experience. The reception person gave us a welcome drink and atleast tried to sort it out and that was the only plus point

Stayed here as part of a trip to visit friends in Cardiff. Lovely little hotel, all the staff were so friendly and made myself and my 3 year old son welcome. I even contacted the hotel the night the night before to request a runway view for us to watch the planes. Ashley was so happy to help and allocated up room 306...perfect. the breakfast was basic, but hot.

From the moment we arrive, there was care shown and that made us relax. The room was very pleasant & the sofa was much appreciated.. . . The breakfasts were enjoyable though the cooked part could do with being a bit more varied but I understand why the hotel management have chosen to provide only 4 items each morning. This is an 'Express' hotel where lots of people stay just one night and are flying the next day, often early morning.

On our departure we expressed our thanks to the receptionist also saying we would gladly stay with them again on our next visit as we have a lot of friends in the area and I usually come down every year to visit my previous golf club for a competition and dinner.

The hotel itself is ok, the bedroom looked pretty rundown, sixties if I had to age it! The flushing needs seeing to as pushing it three times each time to get a result was pretty annoying. No shampoo! The beds one mattress was far too large for the bed, so it gives you a false alarm and one slips off it and was pretty dangerous. Breakfast so and so. Staff were nice.

I booked this hotel room due do the webpage informing me that the rooms supplied a bath/shower as I find after a long drive I need a bath to unlock my joints. When I arrived I was informed by reception that my room only had a shower and no bath. I said to the member of staff that I needed a bath and was informed that they have no baths in any room in this hotel. So I double checked your webpage so either you giving out false information or the staff member just lied to me. As I had just arrived at 10 pm I was forced to take the room, I was awake all night in pain in my joints as I couldn’t have a bath, please look into this as I bet that I’m not the first person this as happed to. Also I must inform you that the free breakfast was rubbish on of the worst I’ve ever had. First the plate they give you is only a side plate, the bacon looked very strange and smelled and the sausages where all burned. The eggs where ok but only available scrambled egg no fried or pouched eggs. Not very good I tied a little bit of the food and spent most of the day with a upset stomach and in the toilet. I’ve been to a lot of hotels over the years and this is very poor I would never go back to this hotel every again. P.s just to put the icing on the cake, the staff started cleaning the room next to me at 11.30 pm which was very load once the vacuum was put on for 20 mins.

We were charges 25 pounds to check in early. We asked for 2 beds. The fold out cot was the other bed. No sheets etc. the cot was dirty with food crumbs etc. There was no heat in our room. When we asked for help they brought up a very old space heater. No complimentary coffee in the lobby. Staff very nice and helpful but hampered by management policies. Pick another hotel.

Excellent location for Cardiff airport. Staff very friendly. Nice large seating area for drinks and dining. Great shuttle service to airport. However our room was dark and small. There was no alarm clock, though we did have a wake up call. The description for this hotel says they have a laundry room available for guests to use - not so. They have only a washing machine, no dryer. Rooms need to be updated.

I stayed here with my wife and two children. The room had a double bed and a double sofa bed which the children shared. The room was clean and tidy and just what we needed for a weekend visiting Barry, which is a 10 minute drive away. Breakfast was very good, with a good selection of cereals and cooked breakfast. Ashley on reception was very friendly and helpful. We'd stay here again.

Shockingly shabby hotel, frayed, split carpet, generally worn and shabby interior, poor level of cleanliness, thin duvet, employees seem to be depressed and worn down and the environment must be part of that. Sad, previous stays in a Holiday Inn in other countries were much nicer. Won't use the brand again. Airport shuttle, free WIFI, and fruit at breakfast are the only positives.

Stayed over for 1 night. Firstly the service was brilliant, made us feel welcomed by staff. Explained the times for dinner and breakfast and what is available outside the times. Room was on ground floor as they seen we had a little toddler and was easy to go in and out of hotel not using stairs or lifts.

We went to the beach which was a 5minute drive so was ideal. Even though we was next to airport, you cant hear any flights so your disturbed. Would definitely visit again and recommend this hotel. Ideal for everyone.

Please ensure first if the A/C is working in room before you book a room. I was with my two children and room was sofocated. After complaining few time they managed to moved me into different room, for first few hours room was okay but after that heat was coming from the A/c, luckily I was staying for only one night, I will try not to come this one as I am member of iHg. Toilet was stink like anything, do not know why they let down customer like that. Manager was very helpful though and admitted that there was a issue with the cooling in particular these room, so why they didn’t inform me before hand they just waited so if I complain then will do some action. Please fix the cooling in that hotel or atleast tell the trusty that it’s not working so I can go somewhere else. I had to leave early in the morning and didn’t bother to stay till check out as I was hot. Hope they will do some action.

Fantastic location, 10 minutes walk to Porthkerry Park, which has amazing views and a pebble beach! Lovely cafe and play area for the children. Also next to the airport which is lovely for the kids to see the aeroplanes landing.

I know it was a budget 3* hotel but the cleanliness was not there, we didn’t get daily housekeeping, the bathroom was disgusting with the plug hole of the shower filled and blocked with hair/dirt, which meant that when you showered the disgusting water would pile up and not drain. we had to ask for clean towels as the dirty ones were not changed.
Other than that, the staff are fantastic! Very friendly, I would love to return again should the general hygiene of the rooms be sorted.

However, despite paying (a very reasonable rate) for 3 days parking while for our trip away) we were told that we’d have to move the car from their paved parking to their gravel parking lot. This wouldn’t have been an issue except there was no parking available on the gravel lot. I thought it was an inconvenience to be told to go back a check for spaces later that night or first thing in the morning to move the car. As it happened, there never was a free space on the gravel, so my car remained on the paved space. Furthermore, we booked in for an early morning shuttle to the departures terminal and somehow we were missed off the list. The following morning we had to wait for the shuttle to go and return because it was full and our names were not on the list. Fortunately it was a quick turn-around as the terminal is so close. All in all, the room/location were great, but there were mistakes made at check-in.
