The place is a dump. The photos felt like I got catfished. It is VERY dated, mildew and mold smell throughout that they try to cover with wall plugs. The thing about the photos is you cant smell the place. If they were not in south beach this is a $40 - $60 motel at best. DO NOT PAY $200+ find an airbnb or spend a little more and go to a chain hotel. The resturant is overpriced i paid $75 for dinner and one drink and it was not good. The drink was delicious but not worth $20+. The only good thing about this place is the staff. They were always nice and I got to check in early. If you are only spending ONE night and there are no other options in south beach then at least you have been warned and know to lower your expectations SIGNIFICANTLY.

This place needs to be gutted. Let me start by saying I know how old the building is. I know that South Beach has a charming rustic reputation. I'll continue by saying my stay at the Chelsea may have negatively affected my health. When I arrived, I had to ask around the lobby for the location of the front desk employee. 10 minutes of standing at the front desk later, the employee comes out of the restroom and seemed uninterested in his position, my needs, or his role as the only point of contact for guests. (the restaurant and bar will tell ypu immediately that they are a separate business and not affiliated with hotel operations) My room was at the back of the buildingnon the third floor. I looked up reviews so I knew there would be key card problems, but for the first attempt to not work on one of my keys (had to use the send card to set down my bags) is on par with how unacceptably this establishment is run. Upon entering the room I notice stale air, and a free-standing roll around A/C unutbwith a hose poked out of the window. A hole that did not match the hose, and had to stuff a bathroom hand towel into the 2 inch gap to stop bugs from entering. The floors give way under foot. The tv had to be unplugged to turn it off (no channels or inputs/service, power button on remote unresponsive). The bathroom was accessible, so roll-in ADA, but no shower curtain, so the entire bathroom and door get soaked from showering. I believe the building has mold, affecting my health since.

Cool, central location in South Beach. Nice convenient restaurant out front for a delicious breakfast before heading out to explore. The staff was courteous, the room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable.

The staff was very nice, the mattress was very comfortable. What needs improvement: no natural light at all, very limited lighting period, window very high can’t see anything. Air conditioning very loud; bathroom to small, no where to hang wet towels, lighting in bathroom is worse, could not do makeup at all, water splash all over sink area. Although the mattress was very comfortable personally I hate platform beds, I ran into the edge a couple of times.

For the price, it's solid. A little old and slightly banged up, but clean and well-kept. Room was nice and quiet despite being in the heart of a party. Sucks that there's no on-site parking but there's a very cheap garage two blocks away ($14 for overnight). Would stay again

Hated this establishment. It was out dated, dirty and just all around not a good vibe. They are making it so difficult to refund me after I did not even stay at their establishment. I checked in and checked right back out a few minutes later after viewing the dirty room. I do not recommend this place.

Hot water was an issue because “they only have 1 boiler” I heared coughs from another room during night BUT wasn’t anything too bothersome. The tv picture wasn’t sharp. The room with two beds are very small but made it work bc it was ONLY for not even 24hrs. Wasn’t filthy. Location is good for finding food or recreation. Would I go back if needed, yes.

We were able to check in early and get our luggage kept at the front desk before our room was ready. Great, courteous staff and smiling greetings from the Havana Vieja restaurant, which is the entrance to the hotel lobby, to the retro/deco bar and front desk. Room was clean and had comfortable beds... considering we had our adult boys with us sharing 2 double beds for an overnight stay. Beach towels were available and only 3 short blocks to ocean drive. We definitely recommend Hotel Chelsea!

As a returning traveler to Miami for Art Basel and a returning guest at Hotel Chelsea, I would have to rate my stay at the hotel as EXCELLENT!
The centralized location can't be beat, the food at the attached restaurant is excellent, and the Management and staff are friendly, welcoming and accommodating!
Many thanks to the hotel's Manager Zaira, and the wonderful Luis and the helpful Eric at the front desk!
I can't wait to stay at the Hotel Chelsea again and I would highly recommend this hotel to any of my friends or family!!!

The lobby smells weird, almost like mildew. Bathroom fan is loud. Employees look mad especially the hostess. No where to sit in lobby hardly while waiting in my ride. I asked for a blanket and received a mattress cover.

While this place is in the center of everything and a few blocks from the beach… it’s a hole. Floors are wildly slanted, soft spots in some areas that make you think maybe you’ll fall through. Elevator is the most terrifying thing. The smell of mildew and mold hit you like a ton of bricks the moment you walk through the doors from the cute restaurant front they have.

Let’s start there… walked in and was greeted by a nice gentlemen and the scent of mildew and humidity covered window panes - who then answered a call about blood on the sheets - he reassured me many times it was make up; the staff “takes their jobs very seriously about cleanliness”. I chuckled and thought oh my - what have I signed myself up for? I get my card key and room number. I go up, neither key works, door doesn’t even have power to it. I go down, reassigned room. I go up, filthy. Mysterious smudges on sheets so we head back down. Once again given keys to the room where the door isn’t working and instructions that maybe I was swiping the key wrong… nope. He comes up, nothing. We go back down. Reassigned AGAIN. At this point I should have taken the sign but it was so late getting a room anywhere else would have been impossible. Finally in a room, sheets - passable but refused to sleep in them just on the comforter. The beds are old, uncomfortable and every spring makes the comical boing sound. 3 nights of this hell - looking back the best part was the restaurant out front. 2/10 don’t do it.

I recently stayed at Hotel Chelsea, and while the property itself shows promise, the overall guest experience was disappointing. The location is convenient, and the rooms are adequately appointed, but the hospitality and service standards did not meet expectations.

During my visit, I encountered a lack of attentiveness from the restaurant staff, who appeared disengaged and more focused on their phones than on guest service—even for hotel patrons. The hostesses, in particular, were not warm or welcoming, which ultimately led me to dine elsewhere despite being an overnight guest.

Hotel Chelsea has the infrastructure to offer a memorable stay, but it urgently needs investment in staff development and customer service training. With improved hospitality and a renewed focus on guest engagement, this property could truly elevate its reputation and encourage repeat visits.

The hotel was a bit old. There was no TV. We could not watch TV at all. We asked the gentleman to come up to fix it. And he said there was nothing he could do. You did have to pay for parking which was an inconvenience. The hotel was a bit old. There was a price for breakfast. Some of the employees were friendly and some were not. We would definitely not stay there again.

It is clean and has a stylish desigh.
It is not a high end luxury hotel,but cozy and comfortable enough .
I wish they would have Kettle in tge room and always available drinking water.
Ready to pay for parking.I stsyed from 10 p.m -11 a.m and had to pay 17 dollars for oarking.Be ready for that extra expense. If you want cofee in the morning, just ask for it .
There are a lot of younger people and they were loud at night .It would be much more pleasant stay ,if i wouldn't be woken up by loud youngsters.

The loading zone- non existent. No one site parking, hotel, spa- even though it is advertised it is 20 minutes away at their sister hotel. Absolutely horrible. We tried to venture over to the other hotel to use the pool but we were told the wrong times of operation and couldn’t even use it. The staff has no clue what is going on. They just sit around and talk to each other and play on their phones.
My family booked two rooms and one had air conditioning issues and no hot water. The other room had only hot water. Not acceptable. Will never stay here again.
Not a safe neighborhood at night.

In every instance during my stay I had to verbally get the attention of the staff person to be noticed, TWICE when I was standing right in front of them. (One finally looked up from his phone and asked how long I had been standing there.)

I would start by saying buyer beware! The ad is very misleading. There is no \"deposit.\" There are however, daily resort fees that are NOT listed in the ad. So, if you do book, even though the receipt and the ad shows you that all taxes and fees are included, you'll be paying $35 per day once you get there. And you won't find that out until you show up and don't have a choice. While it's a common practice, it is NOT common to mislead customers and make it sound like a deal that isn't really a deal and is about the same as every other place once you factor in the extra charges. It's called false advertising.

While the hotel itself isn't terrible, there isn't anything that stands out. The ONLY reason I booked is because they didn't include the extra fees so it sounded like I was getting a deal that I wasn't because I had to pay extra when I got there. It's a \"boutique\" hotel which really means it needs renovating. They offer a free happy hour at a sister property...a mile away...with a sad swimming pool at the same property a mile away. There is a restaurant onsite and it's good Cuban food, but VERY expensive. The only real plus is the location and they give you beach towels, umbrella and chair to use.

Again I could have (and should have) paid virtually the same price at most any other place in the area. At least those ads had a clear listing of extra charges to expect. And many of them were a cut above Hotel Chelsea.

The place is unique and charming in an extraordinary neighborhood. SO much to see and do. All the staff was kind and helpful.
Only one downside that brought this rating from a 5 to a 3...
I've stayed there two times. There is NO HOT WATER in the shower. I tried everything to get hot water... nothing worked. I asked the front desk and the person working there said something to the effect of 'yeah, there's definitely a trick to it... you have to turn the dial a certain way into a very specific place and it usually works....\" usually?
I would love to recommend this place, but not if you like hot showers.

Minimal outlets, don’t plan on charging more than one thing at a time or bring a splitter
One plug for two lamps between beds. Had to unplug one lamp to plug in phone. Only 3 plugs in entire bedroom area plus one in bathroom
Bathroom is , maybe 20 square feet but that includes the door that opens into the sink & cabinet. The toilet is crammed between sink and shower.
Shower is spacious. Probably nicest thing in the room but it definitely could be cleaner. I scraped off mildew with my fingernail. Used a washcloth and hand soap to clean the rest of the walls.
Desk is 18” deep and 36” wide.
First floor sounds like it is over the kitchen
Loud until at least midnight
Construction on a building next door is VERY loud
A loud bird outside our window
TV had no main channel. Had to sign into my own account to watch something
Lost OEM TV remote left our room with a terrible RCA replacement
Small fridge packed with hotel stuff ( expensive ), no room for your own. Had to take their stuff out.
Flight bottles of tequila and other liquor sitting in desk. If you have kids, put them in the safe in the closet.
$34 a day resort fee and there is nothing here. The fee is usable at a Sister property 2 or 3 blocks away. I don’t remember seeing the resort fee online.
There is nothing at this location. No gym, pool, parking, drink machine.
I went to 7-11 a block away for drinks and a few snacks. It sucked, too.

When I first arrived at the property, I was informed that I needed to pay an additional $102 in order to access my room. The staff called this fee a resort fee, but I was very confused and was not expecting to pay any additional fees because I booked a package deal through Expedia. I ended up having to pay the fee, or I would have been stranded without a place to sleep for the night. I am not sure who to blame for this, either Exedia didn't communicate to me this valuable information or the hotel made it up. Nevertheless, I am not sure why the hotel would be charging a resort fee when its location is far from a resort. They do not include breakfast, they do not have a gym, and they do not have a pool. They only offer a bed to sleep in and a shower to wash off.

It was our first visit at the Chelsea Hotel at South Beach Miami. We have stayed many times at various hotels before and after joining cruise ships. This hotel was located right in the heart of South Beach and the staff were so friendly and helpful. Special mention of the wonderful front desk lady Isabella and manager Maurizio who are both passionate to please their guests. Will definitely stay there every time we visit Miami South Beach. Great Service

There was music blasting directly across the street until 3am.
We got little sleep at all.
