A bit sketchy….
Staff at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. I was only there for a few hours hoping to get a nap before my flight home and they allowed me to check in a bit early, which I really appreciated. As far as the hostel itself, it felt less like a hostel and more like a sketchy hotel. There are a few people staying there that are on government benefits, so be ready for that. I was happy to be able to take a short nap before my flight but I doubt I would return for an overnight stay.

This place was awful. I wasn’t expecting the ritz Carlton, but this was beyond terrible. The private room we got was not the same as the pictures of what we were booking by any stretch of the imagination. It was so tiny you could barely walk around, and dirty feeling. They had no blankets at all so we were stuck using the sheets (we had to put on the bed) as blankets as well. When we checked out they tried to charge more for the room, not fees or anything, just additional charges to what I had already paid on Expedia when booking the room. We weren’t even allowed to bring our coffee (with lids) in the room the next morning. The facility itself felt unsafe to the point of us putting the mini fridge (which you can’t use due to not being able to have food or drink in your room) in front of the door. For the same price I could have booked a room somewhere far safer, and better. I wish I wouldn’t have used the proximity to my final destination as my basis for choosing somewhere to stay. Unless you are on a major budget and cannot afford anything else at all I’d stay far away from this place. Truly they should be paying people to fill the rooms. Just awful.

I stayed for one night on March 1st, and now, at the end of March, my deposit still hasn't been returned. The staff is not responding to my messages. I was promised the deposit would be refunded within a few business days, and that has not happened.

Great location 2 short blocks to the beach and restaurants & clubs on Ocean Dr, Washington & Collins Sts. Very close to bus stops. Other area beaches accessible by bus. Free local trolley. Easy access from Ft Lauderdale Int’l Airport on bus with 1 transfer, #1 from airport, transfer at Aventura Mall to #100 all the way to just steps from the hostel. Lobby has art deco charm in architecture. Rooms have a secure locker that will hold an airport sized “personal item” like a smaller backpack, bring your own padlock. Rooms are all male, all female, or mixed, and have bunk beds. Separate room with toilet, sink & tub with shower head within each shared room. Lounge areas, and a kitchen to store your own food to cook for yourself. Had great roommates thru the whole 2 weeks and made lifelong friends. Great vibe on a budget vacay. It’s not the Marriott, and the price reflects that, but when your plan is to explore the area and come back to sleep, it’s perfect.

The only good thing about my stay was the location of the hostel. It was in the heart of all shopping, dining and blocks away from the beach. Check In was a breeze and the staff was amazing. However, the room that I stayed in with the rest of the men could have been better. I understand that it is a hostel and not a personal room. However I have stayed in many hostels where the room had a contemporary, fresh and clean look. Unfortunately, that was not the case with this room. The bathroom definitely needs to be remodeled along with the whole room in general. I was not able to lock my stuff up even after purchasing a lock. I am thankful that I didn't have to worry about my stuff being missing. In addition I saw a couple of roaches in the kitchen area. I brought this issue to the staff's attention and was informed that an exterminator was booked to take care of the issue but that would happen after I checked out. Then one of the men that was staying in room stated that he found roaches underneath his bed. He was supposed to check out on the same day as me but checked out early. This is my first negative review that I have left on here regarding a stay. As much I was was willing to overlook certain things, the roach issue is something that I cannot overlook

They wouldn't accept my stay but they accepted my booking when they told me to leave because I had a Florida local ID even though I don't live here anymore I'm visiting taking care of my mother while she's sick then back to Ohio in a few months. They didn't give me a refund they didn't cancel the booking they just took my money and that's all I had at the moment I'm not happy with hotels.com anymore I don't think I'm going to use this service anymore if this keeps happening this is the second time

The French man at reception refers to black people as monkeys, to homosexuals as the F word and to Jewish people as villains who wish to control the world. I am in none of these groups but heard him saying this loudly and repeatedly for hours in clear earshot of people within all three groups. I was told by staff that I should “chill” because even though he was on duty, he was drunk so why should I care? A drunk reception person on duty should be immediate fired even before the hate speech but he wasn’t even disciplined and remains on duty in good standing. Decide if this is the kind of place you wish to stay. Unless the owner decides to deal with this I caution anyone from staying here. I invite the owner to speak with me.

Pros - The staff are friendly and helpful especially the front desk day staff. Check-in was simple and efficient, they really tried hard to get me my room as soon as they were able. The hostel is in a perfect location just a couple of blocks from the beach.
Cons - One of the front desk night staff was aggressive, argumentative, racist, and was seen holding onto a woman's arm inappropriately. He should not be in the hospitality industry. The roaches (everywhere!) were almost unbearable. They were EVERYWHERE, all shapes and sizes.

About a week later while I was sleeping one of the sup-Orr beams came down and hit me while I was sleepin. A few weeks later and they still haven’t fixed it and cnouinue to try and put people up above me on a broken bunk.
Because I spoke up and said it’s safe, they now won’t renew me and are kicking me out, which is retaliatory.
I’m a full time student attending MDC.
This -lace is totally unethical and unprofessional. Nothing is as advertised and the owner won’t replace broken bunk beds.
I just filed complaints with the Florida DBPR and the BBB. Calling attorneys now.

When you come ask for Kate, she will give you the true hostel experience. You get what you pay for, there is no closer and cheaper way to experience the REAL south beach. Would stay again in a heartbeat just would bring my own can of raid is all.

Initially, my expectations weren't fully met upon arrival, but considering the budget-friendly price, I found the experience quite satisfactory. The accommodation served its purpose well as a place to rest and prepare for the day ahead. Conveniently located near various amenities, including personal and communal appliances like fridges and FREE breakfast options, it offered decent value despite some minor issues. If I could comfortably stay for two weeks, anyone can manage. It's right around the corner to all vibrant and lit clubs, beaches, and other attractions, along with the friendly staff and fellow guests, making for an enjoyable experience. Overall, I had a great time and appreciate the hospitality extended to me.

Objectively it was not a super pleasant stay, but I can’t rate it that low because it’s a hostel on South Beach, you can’t expect that much. Most of the negative aspects are not management’s fault.
They give you a sheet and a towel. You get a lukewarm shower and a bed to lay down on. In the morning you get waffles and cornflakes. Each resident gets a small half locker in their room but you have to bring your own lock. That’s about it. For the price, it’s not that bad.
Bring earplugs. Don’t leave valuables in the room.

The staircase leading down to the kitchen was wet the whole night and they just some towels on the floor to cover the water. The towels became wet and dirty.
There were homeless people and crackheads outside the building. One of the drunks outside started to harrass the guests who were on their way inside the building. The hostel called the police and they came and chased them off.
The room only have two outlets: one was beside one bunk and the other one was right over someone's bed so you would to stretch over their bed or ask permission to use it.
Transportation was easy to get.
The hostel is tucked in a corner close to the main.
Plenty of food places nearby.

You get what you pay for not much .Check was easy my room was shared with three others nothing fancy but could be up dated .Breakfast was basic but I was pleased just to get some hot tea ,didn't like that it was only for one hour from 7am to 8am .Housekeeping was ok ,my issues were the beer and urine smell in front the building where men crowded often all during the day .It seemed like a lot of people actually lived there and went to work .The one refrigerator that they have for all the guest to stored food is crazy ,people complained about food being taken by others and personal items stolen from their room .There is so much more .I've stayed at many Hostels this one needs a lot of improvements .The location is great close to the bus ,trolley the beach and Ocean Drive.I wouldn't return but if you don't care go see for yourself .

Place was dirty, I got moved twice and ended up in a room where I could barely walk through as 5 peoples luggage were spilled all over the room. Was late to dinner because I had to wait 40 minutes to be able to shower. The night shift lady was rude, she got angry at me because I got checked into the wrong room by the morning front desk lady. It was so noisy, they had a frat party going on on the first floor. I left the same night I checked in. There was no way I was gonna get any rest in there. And they refused to give me any kind of refund or compensation for not using the rest of the 4 days I was supposed to stay there. Terrible experience.

This was my first time staying in a hostel. I booked because it was cheap and I couldn’t book a room where rest of my group was. I was there one night but not really clean, and had a weird vibe about the place, looked and felt like a rundown apartment building. Next time I’ll get a room somewhere else.
