The hotel was in a fantastic central area with a spacious room and very nice and helpful staff. The room was very outdated and musty. Bed was comfortable, pillows were not. I prefer a more updated and prettier hotel experience. Bathroom had tile that appeared to be from the 60s. Old but in good condition.

The hotel we nice but you can’t park at the hotel. You have to park in a parking garage 3 blocks away. And when you check out they give you a voucher to get your car and the voucher did not work. So we had to pay!! I told the people at the deck and all they said we are sorry. Did not even said we would give your money back,And breakfast dies not start till 7:00

The room was musty and the shower grout was disgusting. The breakfast was not much and the staff working it were always grunting and groaning and slamming dishes. They should save their money on the wine and cheese hour because the wine was Barefoot and the cheese and fruit was leftover from the day before-the fruit was hot one day which was odd. Location was A+

The positives are: convenient location, spacious room, friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast and comfortable bed.

Negatives: The rooms and common areas were clean enough, but overall the property needs an update. It looks tired. Also, there are many bars and clubs in that area so very loud on weekend nights.

This is an older building so there were a couple of minor issues associated with the age of the building. It has a lot of character though which is something we like. The staff was wonderful and so helpful. We enjoyed Bruce, who served us at the social hour, very much. The social hour was a nice benefit of staying here and went from 5-7 each day. This is in a great area about six blocks from the train station that we arrived at when coming in to the city from the airport. I would highly recommend staying here.

We chose to stay at the Alexander Inn because of the location. We had two rooms. The location is great. A couple of the staff were really helpful. The property is very dated. I know it's an old building, but the carpets were frayed, the room felt tiny and dark, the blinds were stained, and the stairway was grubby. Our key cards were deactivated about six times during our stay. The breakfast room and reception were a nice perk. A bit cluttered and not enough plates/silverware but the gentleman staffing this was helpful and I appreciated how hard he was working. Overall it was servicable but for the price I wish I had stayed somewhere else.

The Alexander Inn is an old property. For its age, it was excellent; however, I would have appreciated more modern amenities such as central a/c. My room had an old window a/c. Also, the window shades and drapes were hard to use.

The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom amenities were fine.

It is a very old hotel and so there's only so many things you can do to a very old hotel to make it comfortable. The stage Creek the elevator is slow and the carpets are a bit dirty. I was hoping for a more historic experience when I booked but I would not stay there again. I will not say it was a horrible experience, it just subpar in my experience.

Such a lovely place nestled into \"The Gayborhood\" of Philly and so close to the Ballet and our chosen restaurants for lunch and dinner. Staff was so friendly and the place clean and charming. Imagine being greeted by bird song as we woke up in the morning. Enjoyed the complimentary wine and cheese int he evening and we understood ther was soup in the afternoon and a breakfast as well. Not a modern, sleek hotel, but would recommend to anyone not looking fro glitz and glam. It had a kind of an old-world, only \"insiders\" know about this place charm!

We checked in and were told no information about the air conditioning in our room. When we arrived in the room it was about 80 degrees and the air conditioner wall unit was blowing hot air. We immediately requested the remote to turn the air on and were told they do not give customers remotes, so we asked if someone could go upstairs and turn it on for us. The person at the desk noted she would do this while we were grabbing some food. When we returned the air was not on and no one had come to our room. We asked again for someone to turn the air on and this time were told that the air “hadn’t been turned from the winter setting” and that air conditioning was not available to us despite it being on the amenities list. The front desk attendant gave us a dirty box fan instead. We did end up calling Hotels.com customer support who spoke to the attendant and were then told that it was just our room that did not have air. This was a culmination of three stories regarding the air conditioning over a span of two hours. We fortunately were able to find another hotel to stay at but were very sad to leave such a historic, beautiful building. The room itself was small but nice for a couple and we would have gladly stayed had the air conditioning been working appropriately.

I booked a city view room for me and my partner for one night. Our stay was short but from the time I first booked, til I checked out staff was professional and friendly. Easy check in and check out. As someone who loves original character and charm this hotel was super cute and cozy. Clean, accommodating and welcoming. Will definitely book again next time I’m in town.

5-7 was a guest welcome with wine and snacks. And breakfast in the morning until 10 with good coffee. Everyone is so nice here! And they discount parking at one of the local lots. Did I mention how nice everyone is?
Cute/quirky deco vibe in a nice little neighborhood.
The bed was comfy... even though the pillows werent great. Good...not great pillows. Not a deal breaker for me. I really liked this place

Location is fantastic - that is what you are paying up for. Hotel is nice and clean but a bit worn at the edges - just fine though for a short stay. Fan didn't work in our bathroom, water leaked over from shower and some lighting to read in bed would've been appreciated. The night staff was wonderful - warm and friendly. The day staff was not that but efficient so all good. Breakfast was ok. Gentleman working that was lovely!

Alexander Inn is a charming boutique hotel in downtown Philadelphia with a great location, just a short walk to Rittenhouse Square and many restaurants and attractions. The ambiance is warm and inviting, and the staff were very welcoming throughout our stay. We really appreciated the light breakfast and happy hour snacks, which felt like a thoughtful extension of the room and added a cozy touch.
The room was clean and comfortable overall. The only downside was that the bed felt a bit small and not as comfortable as we would have liked. Overall, a lovely stay, and I would definitely come back again.

Charming, retro, artsy hotel that has complimentary breakfast, offers wine and small bites early evening that are amazing. Not to mention the complimentary chicken soup around mid day. The efforts to provide exceptional customer service is to be admired. The staff are pleasant, accommodating and even make your bed in the morning! Truly a hidden gem tucked behind the big hotels and much better at making you feel welcomed and “ at home”. Kudos Alexander Inn- we will be back.

Anyone who knows the Alexander Inn loves the Alexander Inn. From the charming antique features --stained glass and art deco insets, lovely tile work--to the spacious rooms and the friendly staff, it is a delightful property. The location is sublime for Philadelphia fun.

We’ve stayed many times over the years at the Alexander Inn and we wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else in our visits to Philadelphia. You cannot begin a better location with more interesting people. The staff is very friendly and helpful and we always meet interesting guests during the social hours each evening.

Room was very nice but small. I mistakenly reserved the smallest room with a twin bed. Overall the hotel is very nice. I recommend a queen or king size bed for taller and or bear types, my husband and I fit in that category. I like the complimentary breakfast and drinks. Hotel is LGBT friendly and in the gayborhood.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The staff was incredibly friendly, the room was spotless, and the amenities were top-notch.

I even had the pleasure of enjoying their complimentary breakfast. There was absolutely no need to contact them for any issues with my room.

If I ever find myself in Philadelphia again, I’ll definitely give this hotel a try and see if they have any available rooms for me.

Staff were very friendly, social happy hours was a very pleasant surprise, and the 100-year-old hotel was in great shape in the heart of Philadelphia a couple blocks away from Jefferson Health and Penn Medicine Hospital systems. I had a 8th floor small room with a great view of the city. I walked to the hospital for my procedure. I'm definably staying there when I go into Philadelphia again!!
