Very calm relaxing private resort. Staff services were very good with amazing view of the beach. Everything was perfect except that many of the amenities including the restaurant options were very limited, and many ants cohabiting our room. Overall excellent stay!

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. Breakfast is an absolute highlight, easily the best hotel breakfast we’ve ever had & the view is amazing. The beach and pools are fabulous & the entire resort is very peaceful. Loved the Padel courts also!

Nice resort to unwind and relax. There is no shopping or much to see like in Lisbon so it is a great way to spend 3 or 4 days to end a trip. The resort is lush but very expensive and there are many lush resorts much closer to the states that offered much more. Breakfast buffet is one of the best in the world and I travel world wide. My room was 1700 sf with 2 bedrooms and 3 baths, the most expensive offered. Housekeeping was good but not great. Check in is slow. And it has a strong time share sales feel to it. The property is large and you tour it in a golf car, they push tours as well. No one greeted us upon arrival. So staffing is a little weak and service at any of the dining areas was slow. You have to hunt people down. It is a little too zen and no one really talks to each other. There are 4 pools all salt water, only one is heated. There is a private beach but off the 4 days all 4 had yellow flags with an afternoon that was green so you could swim. Water was cold and a lot of seaweed. I liked the gym and they have a great spa with wet and dry sauna as well as ice bath and ice shaven bath if you are brave to do it. I love it and you feel great. Nice playground area for little kids. Cool hiking paths along the cliffs. So I would rate this 8 out of 10. There are much better resorts that check more boxes than this one I. The Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico. But if you really want to see the Agarve and time in Portugal I would say it is a nice place

We loved this resort! We had a Junior Suite garden view and it was beautifully decorated and situated. Spacious and very comfy beds. The reception team were wonderful, especially Andrea for giving us the welcome tour. The resort is beautiful, gardens well maintained, lovely spa and a spacious gym. Pools were lovely as well. Unfortunately one waiter was a bit grumpy on the first night, but everything else was perfect. Highly recommend!!

Property was large so it was hard to access and see the ocean. Indoor pool/spa was only accessible to those who paid for a treatment. All classes were extra money. Resort is isolated so dining limited to hotel. Had to uber long distances to get to attractions in the area/cliffs/hikes. Wasps everywhere on property so hard to relax and enjoy pool, breakfast outside or beach. For price point wish we had selected elsewhere.

We had a fantastic stay for our baby moon!
-Room was very large and clean. Beautiful balcony. We didn’t use the tub, but it was pretty and there was a large shower with his and her shower heads. Lots of squishy or firm pillows.

-Stunning views and gardens wherever you look!

-Breakfast was amazing! It ends at 10:30am, but if you come near the closing time, they have absolutely everything still there.

-we ate at the Coral restaurant which was fantastic and upscale. We also went twice to the Italian restaurant and could have gone every night - both were incredible!

-the beach is gorgeous and there are kayaks and paddle boards for rental down at the beach. Beautiful chair and umbrella set up! Other reviews state that there are not enough chairs, however, if you don’t see one open, just ask the beach attendant and he will get an umbrella and a chair for you, so this is not an issue.

-All of the staff at reception, the spa, the beach, and all the restaurants were amazing and very friendly, always in a great mood and making us feel welcome. A special thank you to Sandea for being so welcoming and kind.

-I had a maternity massage at the spa and had Maria. It was amazing and I would highly recommend it!

This is an outstanding hotel, with great customer service. For example, I said I liked the tea at breakfast - and I then had (without asking) a gift of tea sent to my room by hotel management. Absolutely outstanding!

The one minor development is I was there with my 14 year old son. He wasn’t allowed anywhere near the indoor pool. This policy needs a rethink.

We enjoyed the property very much. The hotel was busy however always found a space at the beach. We enjoyed the friendly staff and the other guests very much. The room was beautiful and clean. The Vip access from Expedia in general never incudes a room upgrade. We did have a bottle of wine waiting tho so that's always nice. We would definitely return to this property. Also the breakfast was really fantastic. The best overall on our trip around Portugal.

The property was beautiful, including the beach. The room was large, clean, and up to date. The breakfast was so fresh and with many options to choose from. There was a good selection of restaurants on the resort.

The staff and service was excellent. They even called the room for a wellness check when my husband was sick.

I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a relaxing vacation, beautiful beach, and close proximity to nearby restaurants and popular beach attractions.

Understaffed and run down

We stayed with our family for 5 nights and I was upset at the end on the way things are handled here. Lets start with the positives - the location is great and one of the few properties with direct beach access. The gardens are well kept and most of the pool and beach staff are excellent. Raizes is a treat
Sadly when you land you will notice a very small office to report too which is labelled as reception. There are 2-3 people working here with 1-2 buggies at any given time. You can see the stress on their face and the fact that they appear stretched and busy. Granted we went at the busy end of the season but with the amount we paid surely we deserved much better. The manager who I think is called Tiageo (Brazilian bloke) had a definite chip on his shoulder.
Once you manage to locate your room you would notice that the roads in the property have potholes, yeps you heard that correct.
The room showers work on one temperature only, either cold or excessively hot. And don't try and complaint, you get the look that you start doubting yourself, or the reception staff start acting as if they don't understand English that well ! We resorted to using the free showers in the wellness spa as the showers worked as they should in that place.
The place is hilly and no buggy staff is keen to give you a lift even if they are going empty. We have stayed is most luxurious properties and never noticed this. And the staff wont initiate any greetings to you, they look saddened and underpaid.

Great resort, well organized staff, clean and quiet.
The private beach is nice and has full service to enjoy drinks and food right in front of the ocean.
Breakfast and valet parking were included. The breakfast was also very good, offering fresh baked pastries, fruits, eggs and various other local dishes. Included were also unlimited expresso, cappuccino and any other drink.

Also the bathroom shower is disappointing. The open glass and tiny shower tub combo makes it very cold when you shower

I can’t say how much I enjoyed this resort. The service A , the amenities, the views, the staff all exceeded my expectations. The only part of this resort that didn’t all the way blow my mind was the food. It was good/average. I’m a food fanatic so you can trust me. The breakfast in the morning is amazing , but the dinners itself fell a little short and left me wanting for a better experience. This is not due to the staff because service is great but the chef can do better. Overall still rating this resort 5 star!

My number one reason for booking this hotel was that I wanted access to the private beach, which was absolutely perfect and I enjoyed every minute of my time on it. It’s a gorgeous beach, with very comfortable chairs and lots of shade.
The hotel itself is lovely, the grounds expansive. Make sure you’re in good shape, there’s a lot of stairs and a lot of walking uphill, which, of course leads to beautiful views!
The staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. A big thanks to Ramon for his recommendation at eating at Joao restaurant in Guia. Amazing PiriPiri and the yummiest tomatoes ever.
The hotel includes water for the room and coffee, but that’s pretty much it.
For the cost, I’ve stayed in places which were equally nice, but included more amenities and little treats for guests, either in the room, or on the resort, and usually would include breakfast.
The restaurants are unbelievably overpriced, and if you have a car, there are many delicious options within driving distance that are more local, authentic Portuguese experience.
Overall, we had an excellent stay, and I would definitely recommend this hotel and visit again.

Absolutely beautiful grounds with fruit rrees, flowers, walking paths and spectacular views of the sea and cliffs. Great tour by reception staff on check in to show you around. Well placed pools, even a salt water heated one, and stunning views of the ocean. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Food especially breakfast buffet was delicious. Spa is really top notch. Many shops and restaurants nearby in walking distance as well as a hiking trail to a nearby town. Overall extremely relaxing experience with so many sunbeds all around to lie down and enjoy the views of the grounds while you listen to the sounds of the waves.

Fantastic stay! Every day we went out exploring the area we were so happy to get back to our property! Besides the beautiful grounds and multiple pools on the property, you essentially have your own private beach. In theory, I believe anyone could enjoy this beach from another entrance point, but during our 5-day stay it was uncrowded and for the most part, only accessed by other hotel guests. You felt like you had the place to yourself!

The breakfast was great and our room was comfortable and spacious (though a bit dated). A lot of amenities from tennis and padle courts to beaches and pools plus ,many inviting spaces to sit and relax throughout the beautifully manicured property.

This resort is really good and I will be going back! The staff are very very friendly and service-focused. The site is beautiful and very well kept but few minor gripes (and please keep in context that this is a place you should visit). I found the onsite restaurants very expensive and a bit dull with a limited menu, as a vegetarian menu didn't deliver much at all. The gym was poor when considering this is a spa resort, the equipment is old and the room is very warm. These are minor gripes but I would recommend a visit as staff were incredible and site is beautiful.

We took the 2 hour private boat tour through dive spot. Highly recommend it! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, offered us snacks and drinks. Dont miss out on this opportunity to see Algarve from the sea. The entire hotel staff was friendly and took excellent care of us.

Beautiful property. We had the garden view deluxe room which was beautiful but had view of the gardens. We asked for an upgrade and paid extra for a smaller not as luxurious room that had an amazing view. Breakfast buffet was included and was extensive. Other than that, I thought the prices for lunch and dinner were over inflated making it hard to justify. We had a car and opted to eat off the hotel grounds at great little towns all

There's nothing unique about this resort that makes it stand out from the rest. All the amenities, services, activities are identical to the ones you can find in other resorts. For a 5 star hotel, it'd be apt to provide a free shuttle to and from the airport and city, free water at the beach, some refreshments after the beach. Reservations to all amenities at this resort are a MUST. There's very little chance, if any, you'll have a tennis court, a beach chair without reserving them first.

This is a very special, peaceful and tranquil hotel set in beatutiful gardens, with a fantasitc beach. I have stayed at the Vita Parc many times and wondered about the Vilalara across the road. We were definitely not disspointed. Unfortunatley, due to covid the sauna and steam rooms were not operational but that was not a problem with plenty of pools, including a heated spa pool we did not miss it. There are some great walks along the coast where you can find small hard to reach beaches among the cliffs. The restaurants were excellent - the main grill perfect for a relaxing lunch or informal evening meal or the B&G, a little more upsacle but without being so fancy you could not just sit back and enjoy the views over the pool and ocean. The chef pefectly balanced traditional Portugese cusine with just a hint of modern gastronomy. The breakfast buffet is good and set in the main restaurant so you can enjoy the amazing views, while sipping you capuccino. Cleverly they provided gloves to ensure it was covid safe. The tennis/padel courts are very good and easy to book with good quality equipment available and the Spa is simply outstanding with a huge range of therapies from which to choose. The staff were unobtrusive but always available, friendly and curteous. I have been to the Algarve many times and travelled all over the world and I would rate this as one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed. If looking for a luxurious and relaxing holiday this is the perfect place.

This resort was stunning it had everything we needed. The beach was beautiful and clean, the breakfast was lovely for me. It was a nice and quiet place to be. I have to say the best thing for me was the staff. They had everything down to a t. When I arrived and walked into my room they had soy milk waiting for me which was perfect as I am intolerant! They knew what I liked to drink in the morning, if we asked for something it would be there in a flash! They were always so so helpful. The is not a heck of a lot to do in the surrounding area however it is a short car ride to the nearest town and also the zoomarine.

Disappointments?

my husband had to keep cleaning up ants that appeared in our room each morning? They were around my bed stand and we had no food in the room even when we put our two alcohol bottles outside they were crawling in the room everywhere like a horror movie. My husband bought some vinegar and used soap and water and didn’t sleep most of the time paranoid about the ants. We spoke to reception and the lady said she’s not sure that they’ll let us change room which was a shocker for me.

Everything was extortionate in pricing. We had to travel out to get snacks and drinks, a can of Coke on the resort was 6 euros!!!

The heated pool was not heated, you pay so much but you do not get free stuff in the minibar, the only free thing in the spa is the sauna and steam.

Overall amazing place but there’s room for improvement

The resort had a calming feel about it, where you can just feel relaxed and at peace. It was just a lovely place to stay. It was like being in paradise. The resort is spread over a couple of areas with beautiful gardens. There are 2 restaurants one 'smart' restaurant and the other more relaxed. The pool area is large with plenty of sunbeds for guests. The beach area is also well catered for and there is a bar at the back of the beach too. The car is valet service which was great and the team were able to transport you around the resort in a golf buggy for those less mobile or with bags. Tennis courts were available and bikes to use. We enjoyed the relaxation and vibe of the resort. Staff were super friendly in the main. We had a couple of small incidents but these were correct/acknowledged immediately. Would definitely return

First class hotel but cold pools

Lovely hotel. Amazing staff, nice beach. Negatives are really cold pools apart from one near the Thalasso centre. Poor choice of food at the Thalasso pool bar. No French fries. Lack of bar snacks in the evening a let down as both main and grill restaurant expensive and restrictive menus.

Hands down the property, the rooms, the pools and beach are amazing! Everything here is the definition of relaxation! The service is amazing, especially when you order room service or anything for that matter, they are speedy and polite. They even have espresso machines in the rooms! The views from the hotel and beach are just amazing. We traveled in September but the pool and ocean were freezing although at times refreshing due to the scorching sun on your skin! The food was all amazing and the wines fantastic. The only downside is the options for dining are limited to 2 restaurants, one higher end and one lower end but by no means lower end, just slightly less expensive! The food was expensive but hey your on vacation why not! Dinner for 2 with wine could average around $130-$150 not including tip. And with that you need to try the sirloin or tenderloin, delicious and cooked to perfection! The only con I have is there just isn’t any night life, yet they have the grounds and space to do so! Just not very active at night except the restaurants! So very quite if that’s what your looking for. Walking into town is too far, you’d need a taxi which they are happy to arrange. Definitely have to try a night walk on the beach, very worth it and bring a camera! Shells everywhere and makes for a perfect take home. The bathrooms everywhere in the rooms and around the property are clean and well thought of. Felt like I was plopped off in an immersion of Algarve paradise!!

The resort was well appointed and conveniently located. The facilities were good the only short comings was the desk staff who failed to make dinner reservations twice and left a bag in the lobby instead of my car on the way to the airport to catch a flight. They called and asked could we come back even though it was their mistake. Since we were trying to make a plane this was not possible eventually they agreed to ship it. Hope to get it soon.

My husband asked me yesterday, did you prefer our honeymoon or our stay in Portugal, and hands down, Vilalara takes the cake. This resort is perfect. Gorgeous atmosphere. Small, serene and quiet. Friendly, low-key staff. Spacious rooms (and we had the \"lowest\" garden view room - was lovely!). Awesome location drivable to dozens of small towns. Delicious Portuguese food and the BEST wine on site. But more than anything it is breathtakingly beautiful. We arrived late at night and were taken down to have dinner by the pool, overlooking the beach, and I literally cried, it took my breath away. All eating, lounging, dining, activity is centered around the most magnificent view you've ever seen. This experience was exactly what we needed and exceeded our expectations. Thank you to Vilalara gracious and welcoming staff for a wonderful vacation and if you're hesitating, don't. It's amazing.

What a beautiful hotel! Right above a beautiful beach. So relaxing. The property is gorgeous and well maintained. We stayed in a jr suite which had two bathrooms and was gorgeous. Breakfast every morning was delicious. The dinner at BG wasn’t bad but it wasn’t GOOD. That is my only criticism. We went over to Vila Vita one night for dinner which was much better. Also a great property for kids. Highly recommend. We can’t wait to go back!

Amazing Stay
