From the moment we arrived at the hotel, we were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who assisted us with all the formalities. Our room was in excellent condition with a beautiful sea view and was cleaned daily. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast throughout our stay. The swimming pool and Jacuzzi were fantastic, and we also spent some relaxing time at the bar. I would like to thank the staff, who always greeted us with a warm smile, making our stay even more enjoyable.

The only improvement I would suggest is better signage to the reception. While it’s fairly obvious, it can be a bit confusing. We spent some time figuring it out, especially since the automatic door took a while to open.

To positives; Nice grounds, I was there in winter so place was relatively dead, not many restaurants open etc. But it was nice to walk to 2 beaches very close buy. Nice morning buffett
THe negative: This is supposed to be a non smoking in the rooms hotel(not sure how well this was enforced) but apparently allowed to smoke on balconies. If I had known that I probably wouldn't; have stayed there. My room had not been smoked in but the ventilation system would bring smoke into the room from apparently adjacent rooms.I am highly sensitive to cigarette smoke so I requested a room change that was granted so that was nice. But haviing to deal with the smoke temporarily was definitely a negative for me.

Our stay at the resort was wonderful. The staff was exceptional and very lovely to us. There are several beaches within walking distance. The breakfast was plentiful with lots of choices. I would recommend this resort and we will definitely be returning for another trip.

This is an older resort that has been well cared for and updated. It is only a few steps from a beautiful beach.
Be aware that you need to establish a line of credit with the front desk if you want to charge things to your room.

My husband and i absolutely loved our stay at Pestana Viking. Everyone in the resort was so nice, helpful and kind.
Absolutely breathtaking views! Redonda Cove right behind the resort and other beaches walking distance. Cannot recommend this enough.

A really lovely place to stay. Our room, on the top floor, had wonderful sea and coastal views. Great walks to the beaches and plenty of sunbeds in the gardens. Indoor and outdoor pools. Great staff too.

We had one silly problem as, on day one, their credit card system would not work so our purchases of drinks was not recorded! Eventually they did get it to work.

Loved it here. Our room was spotless, serviced every day and very well equipped. Paid extra for sea view and so pleased we did. The location was stunning and within a few minutes walk of excellent beaches and restaurants. The hotel food was really good too.
Without exception all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Would come back in a heart beat.

Overall our stay at the Pentasa was good. The breakfast had a good selection but you need to go early if possible to avoid waiting for a table. The location was good and easy access to the beach providing you have no mobility issues. The indoor pool was great especially as we had a particularly rainy day but the pool could do with being a few degrees warmer as I found it uncomfortable. The steam room was lovely. The rooms could do with a bit of an update in decor, we had the superior suite which had a queen size bed and roll out bed from under the sofa. This was comfortable enough for my daughter but you could not sit comfortably on the actual sofa itself. Our fridge did not close properly but was not an issue for us as only stored drinks in this. The kitchenette was basic but again had no need to use this. The view from our room was lovely. For the price I paid I thought it was good. I would return again but would like to see some improvement to the rooms. It would also be nice to be provided with a do not disturb sign for the door to avoid being disturbed by the cleaning team when you showering etc. Also only on street parking available.

It was quiet when we came. Breakfast excellent, rooms comfy. We were upgraded and gad an amazing view. The sauna was nor working and the hot tub not hot. The pools are beautiful but were not heated. Steam room was warm. Everything else was excellent.

I really enjoyed my stay - the view of the ocean & cliffs was stunning. The reception desk staff was excellent - very friendly & helpful. I did find the bed mattress dry firm - I personally prefer a softer cozier mattress. The smoking on the other decks - both cigarettes & marijuana was annoying as I would need to move inside (I know - no fault of the hotel). Overall I had a great visit!

The lady at the reception was the most helpful. She really knows great customer service! We had great views from our suite. The room had everything we needed. The beds are outdated and a bit hard so I wasn't able to sleep well in it. However,overall we had a great time and location very close to our favourite beach.

Complete resort perfect for 5-6 days In Algarve. Slightly dated, a little 90s DDR Baltic germanisch but clean, in good repair, staff helpful. Have a half board option that is reasonable but there are other options within walking distance. That’s good because there is no parking on site. Found street parking ok. Price is good even in high season.

Tourist Hotel - Service Animals Not Welcome

The hotel is very downscale from what we are used to or expected. It truly is a \"mass tourist\" hotel! We were originally planning to stay for five days, having selected the hotel for its location and our first choice nearby was fully booked. My wife has a service dog, which was permitted in the hotel room, but when we checked-in we were told it wouldn't be allowed anywhere but in the room. Obviously, this defeats the point of a service dog - i.e. being with the person with the health challenge as an alert. When we learned that on check-in, we immediately began to find another hotel. Since there was no cancellation available on our reservation, we simply felt we had no choice but to pay twice for the same nights. However, after being contacted by Bookings.com, the hotel management agreed to charge us only for the night we stayed there. That was very much appreciated!!

The reception area is nice. Our room never really cooled down, we had to have the window open and then got bitten by mosquitoes as no net on windows. When our room was cleaned the floor still had visible dirt and the coffee table and other tables were not cleaned. I didn't like that you have to walk through the dining / bar area to get to and from the pool area. The gym equipment was outdated and broken. The indoor swimming pool was strange with hidden blocks underwater and little space to swim. Staff were hard working and attentive at breakfast.

Very clean restaurant with an amazing buffet for breakfast. We played with the cats that roam the property, we had an amazing time. We will repeat. Very good time!! A really good hotel right on the cliff edge with great views, indoor and outdoor pools plus hot tub and steam room. Bedrooms are large with kitchenette including microwave and fridge. Buffet style breakfast with large choice of foods but fruit juices were unfortunately very watered down!

We have returned to this hotel six times and will continue to do so in the future.. It was quiet despite the numerous guests. Breakfast was ample and was continually being stocked up. We wanted for nothing. Couldn't recommend this Hotel enough.

Very Disappointing Stay!

My partner and I had booked a one nights stay at The Pestana Viking Beach & Spa in Praia Senhora da Rocha on 30th August 2018. The room was supposed to be superior with a sea view and we paid extra for this; but to our dismay the view we were given was of a large tree and buildings instead! There was no complimentary tea, coffee or water either which for a superior room we felt should have been included.
Having spoken to a lady on reception about our concerns she abruptly replied that we couldn't change our room because they we fully booked and neither did they supply complimentary beverages!
We found a total lack of customer care on their behalf and felt we had been unfairly treated regardless of whether they were full or not.
I have booked several hotels through Hotels.com before and found them to be more than adequate with friendly staff and excellent facilities; but on this occasion we were very disappointed.

No customer service! This hotel is NOT a 4 start hotel. Booked it for 2 nights. Front office staff are not friendly or helpful as expected from a 4 start hotel. They are abrupt and show no patience when asking for a recommendation on activities around the hotel. the room was in terrible condition, outdated and OLD. The air conditioning unit was dripping water the minute we walked in the room!!! we asked for it to be repaired. Front desk said they were sending someone up \"right away\". No one showed. 1 hour later I asked them again and they said they are coming up \"right now\". It took them another 45 minutes to show up only to go back to get some tools and ladder!!! then the technician left with no words or updates. Left the trash-can and wet towels we had layed out to prevent the water from spreading on the floor the same way. No one from hotel staff came up to clean or check on the status. The technician finally shows up the next day at 5 pm with another person to work on the unit, with no prior communication. I asked them to leave, as we had just returned to the room. Cleaning service did not show up until second day at 4 pm.Really? If I am checking out the next day, why would I want room to be cleaned at 4 pm? cleaning should be done before noon, right? The restaurant service was a disaster. no organization, had to wait for an hour to get drink order, let alone the food. Food had no taste. Hotel management did not offer any refund or consolation. Not recommended at all!

When we arrived just after check in we have been informed that indoor swimming pool& SPA out of service I was really disappointed as that was the main reason why I chose this hotel. I was disappointed of lack of communication( via e-mail )I could have choose different property... Thankfully I was offered stay at different branch 24 kilometres away with a sea view room which made as happy as location was perfect.

Worst Hotel Experience! Do Not Book Here

I can not fathom how this hotel has such a high rating. It is at best, a 2 star hotel. Normally I don't leave feedback but on this occasion this was by far my worst hotel experience.
1. From the nonexistent wifi or when it did work lasted for a couple minutes. The sheets with marks on them upon arrival in the late evening, therefore having to change rooms. We changed rooms to one with no working air conditioner and we were given extra blankets with marks and cigarette burns on them. We were then moved to a third room.

2. The indoor heated pool had black mound marks all over it with a steam room and sauna (which broke down around the third day of our 10 day stay.

3. No entertainmet/ kids club throughout the entire stay unless you wish to leave your child alone unattended.

4. A games room the size of a small double room with one pool table a pin board and a couple arcade games that don't really work properly.

5. The breakfast was the worst and is the same EVERY day, with hard beans, over boiled eggs, swamp looking scrambled eggs and sausages. The usual cereal, cheese and ham slices and bread with hot drinks from a Nescafé machine which broke down frequently and tasted bland.

The only good thing is the location on the hilltop. You can get good location elsewhere!

Pestana Viking is in a great location close to the beach. Breakfast is really good and its facilities are well mantained. It has kids club and indoor pool which was convenient as we got a lot of rainy days in Algarve unfortunately. Staff is very friendly. I would go back in summer time!

Lovely beaches nearby but immediate area quite dead out of season with no good local restaurants. Minibus twice a day to nearby town Armacao de Pera handy, but not well advertised.
'Sea view' room was on the side of the building and always in shade. Great kitchenette with kettle, microwave, fridge and well stocked with teatowels, crockery, cutlery etc.
Breakfast quite good but coffee out of a machine, horrid juice drinks and no custard tarts! Souless bar and strange decor in reception and lower ground floor. Outside area a bit neglected and loungers covered in bird mess. Indifferent reception staff. Internet patchy.

For me it wasn't the perfect location to escape and unwind. The spa the food the service... all great. They run a free service to armercao de pera. Family friendly with kids club although I didn't use looked clean and fun. Sunrise from my balcony was magnificent. Antonio on front desk wasn't lovely and helpful. There's I still a shop a short walk straight up the hill where you can't buy water for 0.95 my first night I spent €4 on a 1.5lt of water from bar. Room has a small kitchen area. No tea and coffee in room but I took tea up from breakfast. Amazing hotel I will be returning.

The hotel is lovely, comfortable and in a lovely location. The ocean views were amazing! The pool/spa facilities were great. The bathroom shower is a bit weird with a partial shower door. The breakfast wasn't great so I was not inspired to try the dinner. Several restaurant options nearby. Another small complaint: the room (suite) had a fully stocked kitchen but no dishwasher or dish washing soap, and the maintenance staff do not wash the dishes. They do provide a dish rack. But recommend the hotel overall.

Relaxing stay.

The hotel is in a very quiet location, with easy access to a small but lovely beach. We had our meals at the hotel and they were delicious. Stayed one night only but will likely stay longer next time. Super relaxing!

It is a very nice place and the staff is super. The grounds are very well kept. Breakfast buffet has something for everyone. The access to the beach was a beautiful walk with views of the ocean.

Lovely hotel and Nescafe to beaches

A great stay. Staff were very polite and helpful. The facilities were excellent and far more than we needed. We really enjoyed our stay.

Amazing hotel. Close to the beach. Child friendly.

Fantastic hotel. Amazing staff. Food was fabulous breakfast, lunch and dinner. Only thing was internet was bit slow. Amazing facilities. Brilliant experience

The place is vet nice, beautifully view, great beach. All excellent. Very friendly staff.
