Stayed here several times and always excellent. Rooms have recently been refurbished. Breakfast offers a great selection. Staff always friendly and welcoming. Great location for Garmisch Classic ski area and also for Ehrwald / Lermoos.

Room was clean and warm but a bit on the small side. Good shower. Hotel is a bit dated but in keeping with the character of the village. 20 mins walk into Garmisch. Supermarket and bistro on the doorstep of the hotel. Good selection for breakfast. Swimming pool and gym on site. Near the Olympic ski jump and 30-40 minute walk to Partnachklamm Gorge which is absolutely worth a visit.

Horrible experience! I had a reservation paid in full, arrived to check in and they had no reservation in my name, I had printed my confirmation so I gave it to them and they made a copy. They informed me that they had an update in their system and it has given them problems, I was not the only one there having the same issue. The manager informed me that they had no rooms but they were trying to call other hotels, well after waiting over a hour we booked a new hotel room which cost us an extra $200.00. Ok fine it is what it is but the manager told me I would get a refund not to worry !!!! Well I have been denied a refund even through I have all my paper work !! Beware of this hotel !! They are scamming people !!! Make it right and give the people you wronged their money back !!!!!

Old, beat up. Breakfast was terrible - stale bread, employees using their bare hands to arrange food on the plates, cheap meats. Nice coffee machine, though. If it is hot, ask for a fan. They have a few available but you have to ask - they won't volunteer it.

Wonderful stay in the German alps

Rather high price. Receptionist apparently not able to indicate location of the hotel on the town map, complete wrong directions. Shampoo and Shower gel empty. Bar is unattended, guests waiting forever and have to walk into the kitchen to call someone. Hotel has an excellent location, breakfast is good. Beds not very comfortable

The property is located near the old shopping district which we discovered on our last evening at the hotel. If you’re planning on dining at the hotel restaurant, schedule your table in the morning as the restaurant takes reservations and you will likely be turned away if you just show up for dinner without one. The restaurant food was excellent and served within 10 to 15 minutes. The rooms are a bit small, but provided everything we expected. There’s plenty of parking at the hotel and the hotel provided a free bus pass for our stay.

This hotels was of a poor standard and not what i would have expected from a Mecure Hotel brand. The carpets were torn and tattered. The curtains did not meet to block out the light. the beds were uncomfortable. This is almost certainly not a 4 start hotel. Breakfast was fine but once again there appears to be a lack of staff. This is a poor hotel and once again been given a rating that far exceeds it standards. Once again I question how these hotels obtain there star rating and how hotels.com verify that rating?

This hotel is over priced for the terrible stay they offer. Ass soon as we walked in the lobby it smells so horrible of cigarettes and the front desk staff was not very helpful. I was initially told parking was included with our hotel fee only to be charged for parking and another local tax at checkout. Our room was very tiny and the beds were so hard. The pillows were a joke. I am embarrassed by the amount of money I spent for such a terrible stay. Never again and I absolutely would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

It was, \"Meh\". For the cost of $250.00 per night, there's much better options. Breakfast was great, the room was small and the bathroom was smaller. The front desk staff was friendly. You can't justify the cost for the size of what was given. Also, the walls are super thin, so you'll hear your neighbors and their kids...ALL NIGHT LONG.

I tried to be more understanding because of the COVID challenges, but there were problems that are not because of COVID safety. First, parking is terrible. There are not enough spaces near the property and no control of who parks there. I witnessed a few groups parking and walking to restaurants or stores. The underground parking structure adjacent to the entrance is not for hotel guests. Had to park off property one night. Then they have the nerve to charge for parking, which was not mentioned in our reservation.
Restaurant on site would not seat you for dinner unless you made a reservation. Should make concessions and plans for additional hotel guests to eat. Really disappointing.

Where do I begin?Let me start by saying that this is NOT a four star hotel. It’s more like a two. Check in information was non existent! I had to go to the front desk three times to get my guest card. This is usually standard operating procedure when you check in.
The room’s carpet and chair were stained and disgustingly dirty. The minibar was not stocked yet the price sheet was there. There was one lousy pillow per double bed. One bed was a regular bed and the second one was a cot with a sheet thrown over it. Four stars?? I don’t think so! We couldn’t get the shower to turn on without placing the shower head in the tub itself and the water temperature fluctuations were severe enough that you had to move quickly or risk getting burned!When we arrived after a long day of travel we wanted to purchase some food but were told that NO food service was available. They just offered a buffet at 6. However, the breakfast buffet was terrific and the only 4 star part of the entire stay? Additionally, they are greatly short staffed in their housekeeping departments.Three days when we returned mid afternoon our room wasn’t cleaned. One day we waited in the hallway and the other times we just switched out the towels as we wanted to nap after a long day of hiking. They should learn to respect their guests privacy as well. One time the girl just entered our room without knocking and on another occasion she entered even though there was a Do Not Disturb Sign on the door. Very disappointed!

This is a large chain hotel in Partenkirchen.
The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed. Hotel lacks air conditioning - something that is really necessary when the temperatures soar. They use a system to access the internet that is a bit clumsy and requires you to re-access aftrer 24 hours. A bit aggravating. Had trouble accessing the 2nd day. Front desk person was difficult and insisted that it was my 2 tablets that were to blame even though they worked fine the day before.
Breakfast was first rate. Parking is out front and easy. Within walking distance of many areas. Probably would not stay here again.

However, August in Garmish is hot during the day. There was no A/C in our room and it was miserable at times. I could not find that explicitly mentioned in the hotel description and I did not realize that fact before booking. If I had known, I would have not booked this hotel.

I like this chain and have stayed with them quite often in Munich and elsewhere in EU. The hotel is large and at the end of Partenkirchen furthest from the area of Garmisch most folks will want to visit at some point. Partenkirchen Is smaller and nice but a hotel between the two would be much better. It is a 30 minute walk to the pedestrian area of Garmisch (according to Google).
There is no A/C in the room so if it’s July think about it. The night was cool to allow a breeze for sleeping but it was fairly uncomfortable until later at night. The breakfast is nice and the bar is OK but closes at 10pm (everything in Partenkirchen closed early apparently).
The last thing was an annoying policy to take a photocopy of everyone’s passport. Even my 6-year old child’s. I’ve never been asked for anything more than my passport before. Even pointing out to the clerk that my children are actually EU citizens and don’t necessarily have to have their passport with them didn’t dissuade him. Very weird. I won’t come back. It want bad though, just not good either.

Although the hotel needs updating, like many older Mercure hotels, it is comfortable and clean. Most of the staff are helpful and speak excellent English.

As other travelers has said: The breakfast buffet is excellent. Hot and cold options and lots of muesli/fruit/cereal options too.

I stayed over the Christmas holidays. The hotel is ok, looks dated and most of the staff are deliberately not nice. The hotel offers a great breakfast, has a very nice pool and health centre. I will stay again if there is no other option, but have stayed in much better four star hotels in the area.

Zugspitze in a flash

I had a very good experience with the staff in Mercure that were supportive in all needs at any time. The only disadvantage was the elevator, which was overload in some times and damaged on the departure day.
Also I was surprised that nobody cares about your luggage.

Over Priced & Not Clean

The hotel is outdated & the rooms are not cleaned well. The room layout was horrible. The bed is next to the wall & looks like there should be a breakfast nook there, not a bed. The sitting area is a table with 4 chairs. The table is beside the bed so it's cramped. The bed had a stain on the blanket. The room is small and the walls were dirty and marked up. The room has a mini bar that's NOT FREE. We stayed at a Mercure hotel in Munich the night before and it blew this one out of the water! It had a FREE mini bar in the room that was restocked everyday and it was a great, CLEAN hotel! Why is this one lacking so much? The bathroom & entrance doors open into each other. There is no A/C. The bathroom was NOT clean! There was mildew stains in the grout between the shower tiles, on the bottom of the shower curtain & the shower walls weren't that clean either. Also be sure to bring your own washcloths! They just have towels. The pool was clean, had lockers & pool chairs. The breakfast was overpriced, as was the whole stay. The lobby bathroom stunk in the toilet area, I thought this could be a fluke, but it smelled the same the second day. This hotel should not be called 4 star! It should be a 2 or 3 star. The only good thing about this hotel is the pool in my opinion. I am VERY unsatisfied with the cleanliness of this hotel, especially in the rooms! The staff was very nice but didn't handle situations well. I would not stay here again.

The hotel is definitely not a 4 star. One of the double beds was comfortable. The other was basically a big futon and didn't even have a headboard. The bathroom was tiny but functional. The WiFi would not connect so I asked the front desk clerk about it. The only info she provided was she wasn't sure why it didn't work and that maybe they were working on it. Very frustrating for someone trying to get work done online.

Thoroughly Disappointing

This was by far one of the very worst hotels I have stayed in within the German border. For the money paid for such a location, it was an absolute disappointment. The staff were inattentive, sometimes hard to contact and unaccommodating; there was also a substantial language barrier with English for a hotel that appeared to be servicing primarily English speaking clientele. The room was large for a German room, but it was poorly stocked, smelled musty, had a climate control issue and looked very dated. The trimmings and furnishings of the room looked aged/dated. The bathroom was a cramped facility and the shower/tub was a enigma to get to work properly. The hallways were a sightly mess and the floors stained. Even getting into the hotel from anywhere, but the main entrance, was a confusing ordeal. The elevators were apparently powered by mice in a wheel, slow, small and shaky. The garage, though vast, was tough to navigate into, especially with snow because of the small gateway in/out. The only good thing about this was the amazing snowy view up to the Zugspitze from the room's window making for an excellent sunrise shot. This seems to be a growing trend with Mercure hotels and I do not plan to EVER stay in another again, regardless of any bargain found.

Flat tire caused by construction spoiled our day.

There was construction going on in the parking lot so there was minimal parking. Due to the construction, we ended up with a nail in our tire. We discovered the flat tire on the day of our departure after visiting a local attraction. The hotel was decent but nothing special. Staff was very nice & location was great! Nice little bakery/store nearby.

We stayed here from August 22 to August 27th. They were doing major renovations outside around in front of the hotel, this caused us to park off site nearby. The swimming pool was filthy, looked like it had not been cleaned in few weeks if not a month or so. The breakfast while nice was not worth 18 Euros, I'm sorry but I don't think people eat that much worth of food for breakfast.

Four star hotel - we think not!

The Mercure at Garmisch was clean and had a great breakfast. There was free parking but parking was stressful, due to hotel reconstruction and a distinct lack of spaces. The room was small, the bed poky and the bathroom tiny - how could this be four star? The first room we entered had a shower that leaked from the tubing but, in fairness, the staff changed our room quickly and efficiently. We were also annoyed because there was a lot of construction happening (noise and dust, parking restrictions etc) but there were no signs of apology, nor did the desk staff apologise. The location is good, being close to the old town and a 15-minute walk from the railway station. However, there is a feeling of 'captive audience' in this hotel and we certainly would take a lot of persuading to stay in it again. In contrast, our following night's hotel was in the Saarland, a three-star hotel, and was much better than the Mercure as well as being a 1/3 cheaper. We stayed for 2 nights in Garmisch in late August 2015.

Adequate Hotel Shame About the Noise

The hotel is currently undergoing work on the car park (this information wasn't given on the hotel details when we booked so we were woken early every day to drilling from the work men outside the complex. Plus if you are in anytime during the day all you hear is drilling. The hotel itself has nice rooms (like an Ibis style) they are clean and room service comes daily. The pool area was nice and clean when we stayed. You can get a safety deposit box at reception for free. Also make sure you ask for a fan. They are free again from reception and you will need it. The hotel is ridiculously hot everywhere, especially the bedrooms. Lack of Management lets the place down.

Stayed 3 nights here with two small non german speaking people.. the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful! The room was clean and the view was extraordinary! What a wonderful place to stay and visit! Would've been a 5 star experience except for the construction in the parking lot. Small detail.

Great setting for a Winter Break

We stayed in Garmisch as part of our tour of Bavaria.
The hotel, as expected, is set up for the Winter Sports...
The room was clean, comfortable, and very spacious....with a little seating area within the room.
The breakfast/restaurant area again is set up for those with little need for comfort and more interested in grabbing some food and heading to the slopes.
Do not get me wrong the hotel is nice enough but has a target client group.
The hotel is very close to the town center and getting around the area is very easy.
It is a hotel that serves a purpose during the summer season and I would not have any problem returning

Decent Structurally, but bad customer service

As far as the general hotel was concerned, it was very good, especially for the price that we got through Hotels.com. It was clean, spacious, and had decent amenities.

However, we were here on our honeymoon, which kind of made the constructions situation outside of our room all the worse. When we arrived around 4pm in the afternoon and walked into our room, there was a jackhammer running directly outside of our room, which was loud even with the window closed. We immediately tried to change rooms, but were told that we couldn't and that it wouldn't be an issue during normal sleeping hours. When we asked what time the construction would start in the morning, we were told 10am, which would have been fine. It started at 7am, which is pretty miserable when you're on vacation and a romantic one at that. The attitude from the staff was that it was morning and we should be up anyway. To us, the hotel was fine, but the customer service was really bad. If we had just been told the situation upfront or given a little sympathy, I think I would've been understanding, but I ended up just aggrivated.
