Bathroom is very slippery when showering. No safety bar or rail in bathroom to hold on. It is very easy to slip and fall after stepping down the one step in order to get out of the shower stall.

This hotel is a great choice for a short stay! The staff were very friendly, and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. However, there are a few areas for improvement, such as upgrading to a smart TV, adding fans to the bathroom and providing coffee pods in the rooms. These small touches would really enhance the whole experience.

A nice two-night stay in Aix

I stayed a couple of nights in Aix to enjoy the opera festival. My room was very comfortable, the air conditioning was very welcome after strolling in the baking hot heat of the day. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable on how to get to the opera venues.

The hotel was nice. Clean and friendly. The parking, which is not their fault because we chose the free outdoor option, was fine but the machine to pay for it was broken. The outdoor pool unfortunately closes very very early. 7pm. In the summer that sunset is after 9, I'm not sure what the reason for that is. We walked a few blocks to get dinner and breakfast, so there's good options in the area even if the alley by the hotel feels a little questionable with weird noises in the bushes :)

Easy walk from the centre of Aix

A 10 minute walk from the centre of Aix, or bus no: 8, Galice has been very convenient. The swimming pool was welcomed for exercise, and lovely in the sun. Excellent breakfast. Present and engaged staff.

We needed to stay in this location and the hotel met that need, however it was understaffed and not very clean. We also found and killed a flea on the bed. I did not try the breakfast; it is an add on fee. Their shuttle service is really the public bus service-which is a 10 minute walk from the hotel-so we got a taxi which was 75 euro fairly expensive. The staff was nice but the facility was less than desirable.

Not properly cleaned, found man hair on the first night.
Air conditioning doesn’t have a cooler option so it’s just fan. And they set on a timer to shut off so the first night we were awaken every 2 hours to turn it on again. (complained 3 times). The next day they turn the timer off however it’s a central aircom, so it’s automatically off at 9pm and 11pm, most stupid system for a 35degrees heatwave!
Definitely not a 4 star hotel.
The lady with Blonde hair and brunette guy were helpful, but the blonde lady with glasses is terrible at costume services! We asked for a free night and they said we never complained, funny as they gave us 1 free parking day to try and compensate when we were leaving.
Good location as only short walk to city, however customer service and and aircon systems need some work

Staff great but rest was underwhelming

Customer service made this hotel stay fairly enjoyable in the middle of a heatwave in Aix. Reception and pool staff were gracious and helpful.
But... 15 minute walk into town was scorching hot. Parking was decent - metered behind the hotel.
I would have rated it higher except the cleanliness was lacking - fruit and vegetable scraps on our table weren’t taken by the cleaner when she cleaned the room. Toilet paper and tissue not replaced. Cleaner also took a complimentary bathrobe to clean and didn’t replace it so we had to ask for a new one or would have been charged €50 when we left.
We had been at a small hotel in Paris a couple of days earlier and they provided free bottled water at reception. In 40C weather, getting one bottle free for our entire 5 day stay was ridiculous. Also got one Nespresso capsule per stay - they need to think bigger picture ie. customer comfort rather than going cheap.
Also mini-fridge not plugged in and toilet was leaking and therefore noisy.
Little things, but enough to be annoying.

4 night stay in Aix

Booked a superior room and was quite modern and appeared recently done up. Safe was included. Room was serviced and bedding possibly even changed (unnecessarily) every day. Coffee, tea and milk only appeared to be automatically provided on first day, after that we seemed to have to ask. No recycling via room bins which does upset us . Bar and lounge were stylish and recently done up in my opinion. Pool area was nice although I sometimes wondered if the pool was cleaned regularly enough as seemed to be a lot of plant floaters and possibly appeared green underneath. Was nice to have a pool though as was boiling hot weather in July. Express breakfast seemed reasonably priced but it was not clear where and when you took express breakfast - possibly only meant to be taken in bar not restaurant and possibly limited hours only intended. Full breakfast was a bit too expensive and not fantastic looking. One particular receptionist was really lovely and helpful - Lucie. Reasonably well situated in our view although not really in “Cente Ville” - about 20 mins walk in and 20 mins back, of course... we ended up walking miles!! Quite a few corporate guests there rather than individual guests but never was an issue. We enjoyed overall and would return. Thank you

The air conditioning was on and off which made it very stuffy in the room. Cleaning service was only every 3 days which isn’t enough. No room service even though it’s listed in the amenities. The pool was green and unusable. We wouldn’t stay there again.

The hotel was by far the worst on the tour. I am never fussy about hotels. They are not a big part of my travel experience; however, this hotel was terrible the entire tour bus thought it was terrible. I am hoping my tour company chooses somewhere else for the price we pay for the tour

Aix de Provence wasn't the only place I was interested in Provence, that's why I needed a hotel just outside of the downtown so I ';d have no problems with parking my car or getting outside to main highways easily. The location is perfect for this purpose. The staff was very nice and knowledgable, cleaning was extremely good, breakfasts are cheap and tasty. Thank you all, guys!

Hotel close to downtown

The bed was comfortable, the room and the bathroom spacious. But the bathroom was old and not clean correctly. When we went at the pool, the hotel don't provide towels for the pool at an extra cost, that's not very nice. It will be nice to know before your arrival in the hotel description. In overall the hotel was correct, nice location, nice bed, but that's it.

Reasonable hotel close to city.

I've stayed at this hotel 3 times previously over a period of 3 years. The rooms are OK (air conditioning works, bed's OK, everything worked as it should. The food in the restaurant is not as good as previous stays (the menu is more restricted and the quality is not as good), but overall it is still a comfortable place to stay, fairly close to the city centre (10 minutes walk) at a reasonable
price.

The hotel was hard to find, adjacent to a car dealership, a little longer walk from the train station than we expected, but we were also tired from a long day of tourism. A nicer hotel/room from our trip although just a quick overnight, would stay again.

Hotel Le Galice Aix en Provence

The hotel was a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of Aix. This was along a busy street so perfectly safe at night. The hotel was modern and the rooms were kept clean. Beds were very comfortable and with a decent size bathroom. The hotel however had a very bad smell of cigarettes as instead of smoking in the rooms people would smoke in the corridors. This was enough for me not to recommend it.

Oh dear, oh dear - don't go unless you have to...

Reception staff poor. Quibbled about putting us in a pool view room after I complained, even though we paid more for a pool view room. Didn't program the key properly, so had to return. Were not allowed two key cards, as they didn't have anymore! Asked for another bed sheet, was told \"NO BED SHEET!' I was surprised to be spoken to like that. The lady then wrote down the room number with a big sigh.They then brought what turned out to be a duvet cover. Again returned to reception to explain I would like a bed sheet, as it was to hot to sleep under a duvet. They were surprised that I did not want the duvet cover. After returning the second day, our key card again did not work for the room. I went to use the pool the third morning. The toilets by the pool were out of order, and the sign asked guests to use the lobby toilets. When trying to use these toilets, it then turned out there was no toilet paper. Considering all their conference rooms were full that day, one would think the toilets get used more, and they should do hourly toilet checks to ensure they are clean and stocked. These toilet checks get done in hotels all over the world. The only good thing about this hotel is the comfortable beds, and the pool, but otherwise, don't bother. It is one of the few hotels in Aix with a pool, that is affordable. If you go any other time of the year, stay in a hotel closer into town, as it's not worth the hassle and poor service.

Used this hotel whilst working in the area. Generally good place to stay - bed was comfortable, hotel was peaceful at night. Plumbing worked fine.
Only problem was the heating, which is controlled centrally & won't let you raise the room temperature (it was very frosty outside!).

Unusual hotel as it promotes it's swimming pool but charges 3 euros per towel which isn't publicised.

Car parking is secure, but should be at 12 euros per night - there is no where else to park though.

Fabulous Hotel.

Best Western Hotel Le Galice is a fabulous hotel. We had a brilliant time here.
We loved the convenience of the location, the gorgeous pool, the consistently great service and the decent value for money. Le Galice is one of the nicest 3 star hotels I've stayed at.

The helpful, friendly staff helped us with directions to the centre-ville, booked us an airport transfer and printed out boarding passes. Our standard twin room was really spacious, the much-needed air-con always worked and the bathroom was of a high standard. The swimming pool was a real highlight - the perfect way to cool off after a hot day exploring the gorgeous city of Aix! We also ate at the restaurant, enjoying the relaxing poolside ambiance and local food and wine.

The location is good: once you know your way, the 5-10 minute journey into town is easy. Our own quibble is that the neighbourhood can feel a little uncomfortable to walk through in the evening, only because it is out of the main city centre so feels more isolated. Nevertheless, we did not find this a problem once we confidently knew our way.

Overall this hotel is highly recommended! NB we were originally booked into Best Western Hotel L'Arbois, also in Aix en Provence. We switched to Le Galice once we realised that L'Arbois is further away and only reachable by (complicated) bus journeys. I’m really glad we did change and urge anyone deciding between these two Best Western options to go with Le Galice.

In Aix for a Wedding

Was there as I attended a friends'wedding in the area. The hotel is a good business hotel but as it was the wkend of 14 Juillet, France's national day, lots of people were on vaccation and the staff present was not enough. They did their best but were visibly overwhelmed.

My only complaint is the wi-fi. The first 3 codes did not work and when we got a code to work the sign in procedure was slow and tedious. We spent more time getting connected than we did using it.

Personnel friendly. Food was very good. Halls were hot and stuffy. Elevator did not work - there were only two. Room was extremely small considering the cost. I stayed in Monaco in a room twice as big for half the cost. Not worth the money.

Service was average - nobody at the bar to order drinks and when tried to order room service a few times I wasn't understood. Turned out easier to walk down to the restaurant and order what I wanted directly. Not the fault of the staff there who were all very helpful and nice but perhaps an indication of not enough staff?

This is an OK hotel, room was clean and spacious but could do with up updating. Pool area not as pictured on website. It is smaller than it appears and is far too deep for children. I have a ten yr old boy who isn t a great swimmer who was totally out of his depth there is no shallow end.Location OK 10-15 min walk to center of Aix en Provence with its vast amounts of resturants.. Also a good base for visiting other areas

Very good, hotel staff were very friendly & helpful. Hotel within reasonable walking distance to city centre and has parking at a very reasonable surcharge. Would recommend to anyone who wants a quiet hotel when visiting Aix and environs. The only negative was that we were not allowed an extra hour after checkout time!

After travel plans fell through we needed somewhere in Aix-en-Provence to stay pretty quickly, and we managed to book online that day very quickly and easily, and the staff were expecting us when we arrived. They were polite and friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable, with an enormous bathroom.

We arrived early and were greeted warmly by desk personnel. She was delightful and extremely helpful. Left our luggage locked securely along with car in underground and followed advice of desk person to travel by train to Marseille. The room was the biggest yet in France and very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent! We appreciated the helpfulness of front desk! Close to train but not TVG.

Good value, close to Cours Mirabeau

Great room, king size bed (real one, not two beds shoved together). On par with hotels in the US. Parking was no problem. Check-in and out were quick and efficient. Hotel location is within walking distance of the Cours Mirabeau and the surrounding neighborhood is safe. We ate at the hotel restaurant for one meal and had a good selection and the prices and quality were good.

Best Western, Hotel Le Galice is located close to the center to the old city of Aix-en-Provence, the staff was helpful, courteous and efficient and there was a pool. The hotel itself could use a little sprucing up but overall this swas not a problem.

The hotel was very clean and comfortable. Our bed was huge! It is about 10 - 15 minutes from the city center- an easy walk. Good directions were provided to the city center and to the shuttle to the TGV station. Good breakfast. There is a pool which was a nice treat after a long day of traveling.

Air conditioning kept us cool as it was hot when we stayed there. We also have a lovely meal in the restaurant one evening and the food and service was exellent. The location was quieter but still within walking distance of all the sights. The swimming pool was a good size to have a proper swim and the sun beds were great for relaxing after a busy day.

Overall hotel score is lower because of poor organisation at breakfast. The food was good but inadequate staffing levels and lack of organisation made the breakfast room badly organised: eg, by 9am insufficient tables laid, no cereal bowls available, no cups and saucers available, only cups brought on request.

Good place to stay as its close enough, within walking distance, to city centre & shopping area in Aix. Restaurant menu was poor during stay but there are many restaurants in close proximity so plan to eat out. Room was comfortable though we had to open our windows in the night as it was a bit hot. Noise from busy nearby road can be a bit disturbing when window is open. Overall, a good hotel to stay in.

I needed a functional, reasonably priced business hotel for 2 nights in Aix. The Best Western met my needs. Good WiFi service, a comfortable bed, reasonable shampoo, etc. in the bathroom, and good water pressure. The food in the restaurant was fine and the hotel staff was attentive - and they spoke English.

Perfect hotel if arriving in Aix with a car

This is the perfect business hotel, which also serves very well for a city break leisure traveller. Large quiet room with a stunningly comfortable bed. Good shower, lots of closet space with safe and fridge. And it has parking! Commercial, busy not scenic road and a good 10 minute hike through commercial suburbs to town centre but superb if you bring a car to Aix.

Good hotel for an overnight stay

The hotel was in an excellent position about 10 mins walk from the town centre. Outside was a bit scruffy but the reception area was clean and reasonably spacious. The staff could not have been more helpful. Parking in the underground garage was easily organised but it cost 10 euros and had a narrow entrance and two security doors - we negotiated it with our estate car but it was close. The room was clean apart from a small patch of mould on the bath in a corner you couldn't really see until you were in the shower. The king size bed was comfortable though for some reason there were only 3 pillows for 2 of us. The tea making facilities could have been more generous - there were no herbal teas and the only milk available was 2 small cartons of evaporated milk. The toiletries were equally sparse - rather thin hand wash and shower gel - no soap, body lotion, cotton wool etc. The bar wasn't staffed - you had to phone to get someone to come - but they came quickly and service was good. Breakfast was the usual buffet - perfectly acceptable but nothing special. Overall we'd stay there again, it was good value for money, but a few small changes would have made it better.

Our stay at Best Wetsern Hotel Le Galice

No service in the bar. We had to look for someone in order to order drinks. This was a normal ritual as others had the same experience. Maid service was barely adequate. The desk people were very good and helpful.

Hotel is newly renovated, has a nice bar/lounge & a restaurant, with good food & service. You can walk to the old part of town. The staff were very helpful. There was a problem with the air conditioning during our stay, but we assume it was temporary. Overall, it met our needs nicely.

Good hotel

We've stayed at this location twice and have liked it. The staff are so friendly and ready to help with any number of things needed. The hotel has a pool and poolside bar that in summer includes a jazz night. While the lobby has been updated, the rooms are somewhat dated and darkly decorated. If you don't care about such cosmetics, then you'll like this place. It is located in a weird spot but is a painless, 10 min straight walk into town (or a 2 min. bus ride that leaves from in front of the hotel). Nearby are also a grocery store and restaurant open 24 hours, which we really appreciated when we were wide awake and starving at 3am due to jetlag. One final note: in summer, this hotel has the nerve to charge 160 euros or $220+ dollars per night but it is NOT worth that much. If you can score a good rate, book it but for over $200, you can do better in town.

For our needs, a great choice, a great location

Tucked away on the Route de Galice, sharing street frontage with a car dealership, is a truly fine hotel. We weren't sure what to expect, but were pleased at the results when we arrived. We were pleased that our room had a wonderfully huge bed for us and another for our daughter, with good maneuverability throughout the room and plenty of storage space. We were glad there was a bus stop nearby, and the ride to the center of town was no more than 5-10 minutes. The weather was warm, and the room tended to hold the warmth. The A/C was under repair, so we had to keep the window open as much as possible, and let the coolness trickle in at night.
One of the best memories of our stay was the Continental breakfast we signed up for the first night. Staff members brought in 3 trays loaded with pastries, coffee, and juice. The buffet breakfast in La Boheme restaurant was fine as well. We also ate dinner one night in La Boheme. Everyone seemed pleased with his/her order.
The service from the staff was terrific. Sometimes there were difficulties, but that was mostly due to problems communicating (our French is very minimal). One of the evening managers was exceptional, coming to our room just to press a button on our TV to get it working again. The rooms were always kept clean and neat. The staff members always worked with us to help us and get us whatever assistance and information we needed.
For our needs, this turned out to be a great choice. Thanks, hotels.com!

Reasonable price, on a bus line, walk to Aix

Fortunately even though the HVAA system was down in the hotel, the weather was cool enough that most of the time we were comfortable. Small room but comfortable kingsize bed and great shower head. Hate the cloth curtain that rubs up against you but curved shower rods haven't been discovered in Europe yet. Decent pizza up the road toward town at two places, which were not open for lunch. The hotel restaurant has a nice breakfast buffet for 12 Euros, but the chef lacks some skills if you want to eat dinner there. Too many great and reasonable restaurants in town to spend many if any dinners at the hotel. The hotel manager is very hard working.

Lovely hotel, staff were extremely kind and helpful when I had my bag stolen in Marseille - let me use their phone for countless calls and provided tea! Great room and very clean. Only 10 mins walk from the centre of town. Car parking available, which is rare for an Aix hotel! Would definitely stay here again - good price. Pool area looked nice for summer (we were there in November)

Decent choice for an overnight

Decent, clean hotel. Nothing remarkable about the neighborhood (our window overlooked a big car dealership parking lot). About a 10-15 minute walk to the downtown area, though we drove. The hotel staff was very responsive when I called from home a week later because I thought I may have lost my passport there.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks and found the staff simply spectacular. They were so responsive to our needs and really accommodating, esp. of our child. The reception staff was resourceful and always ready to help. The hotel is a bit off the beaten track (about a 10-15 min. easy walk into the city center) but we enjoyed feeling like part of a neighborhood. The hotel was of good value and had good sized rooms that also included a mini fridge. The pool was clean and open for long hours. We found it great that you could also eat at the patio right near the pool and had a good selection of options. We will most certainly stay here again!

Clean hotel in Aix

Very clean, spacious room. While it was a 10 minute walk into center of town, area felt safe and you end up walking all over Aix anyway, so didn't really seem to matter. It's also close to a couple of nice patisseries, a grocery store and the road north to Avignon. Couldn't get the wifi to work but there's a computer you can use off the lobby. Staff was quite helpful.

\"fine\" hotel

We reserved a two room suite but were given two separate rooms when we arrived. (we were traveling with our 18 month old and a baby-sitter). When we tried to correct them and showed them the reservation they just shrugged. The rooms were very dumpy and desperately needed an upgrade but were very affordable if you don't plan on staying in your room much.
The lobby and service were both very nice though. And the walk to the center of the town was really quite short. More like 5-10 minutes then the 20 that I had read.

air con so poor we had to wet towels in cold water and sleep under them , the pool area was very small and shaded till 11.00 am and again by 3.00.pm it was also a fair hike into the centre and even my big strapping husband was uncomfortable walking back at night , would never go back not even if yyou paid me.

Breakfast Scam

This hotel was adequate but room decor was dreadful. It was overpriced and I would recommend it only if a pool is absolutely necessary. In the room the maid leaves a form for what seems like complimentary continental breakfast. It's NOT. Before ordering it the second day I checked at the desk and was told it is free. We were then charged 12 euros each for 2 days. The desk person pointed to a sign no guest would see in the desk area noting the charge and refused to budge except to reduce it when I said we didn't get 2 coffees on day 2.

Typical Business Hotel

We chose this hotel for a one day/night stopover in Aix-en-Provence. It is a little out of the way, being on an automobile dealers' row about 5/6 blocks easy walk from city center; but very functional in terms of parking, wi-fi, restaurant, accessibility, etc. The price was reasonable (for Provence in the summer) and the hotel met our expectations for a typical business, chain-type hotel.
