A Dream Experience!!

Le Pigonnet is a dream! Beautiful hotel and surrounding land, as well as fantastic staff and service. The hotel is perfectly situated for both quiet from street/city noise and walkability to Aix. The spa is wonderful with rejuvenating treatments and a fantastic wellness area. I’d never been to a hammam before this visit, and it was the most relaxing space where my travel weariness and tight muscles finally relaxed (especially during my stop at the dry sauna afterward where there are tools to stretch different parts of the body). This is the BEST experience I have had in my 12+ years of solo travel. I will absolutely be returning as soon as I can to both Aix and le Pigonnet! 10/10 recommend!

The hotel, location and FOOD was divine! We loved our stay here and will be back.

We would have liked a little bench or stool to put our clothes on in the room and a steamer, but everything else was perfect.

Overall nice property with beautiful gardens and in a tranquil setting out of the main town. Fails to meet the standard you would expect of a 5 star, mainly due to poor service and a few other issues. Often when trying to order a drink for the pool, you had to actively seek out staff who would be clustered together on their phones and not attending to guests. There was also a dirty McDonalds bag left on our floor for over 24 hrs without being removed by cleaners. We got turn down service only 1 out of 3 evenings, giving an inconsistent experience and often the pool area was left covered in used towels, glassware and plates. Also they advertise a free drink and music/ reading at 4pm each day, but this never happened on any day that we were there. Overall a pretty hotel that needs to improve its service to achieve value for the price - this seems to be a consistent topic on other reviews too.

We loved our stay at Le Pigonnet. The property is over 100 year old mansion! There were different parts of the hotel that you can stay at each having their own pool. The gardens were out of a story book. It was pure serenity! However our room had some plumbing issues and the view not that great. They accommodated and handled the situation with such grace. We absolutely will come back to stay there!

Our family stayed in the family suite. It is spacious and provided our family with room to spread out in. The only negative is the hotel is older so there isn’t sufficient lightening in the bedroom. Other than that, it’s great! The property is beautiful with a large garden. There are two swimming pools. There is a lovely restaurant we had dinner in one night and breakfast every morning. There is also a separate bar that serves food and drinks. The staff is extremely kind and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay here.

This is a very expensive hotel for what it offers. Staff lacks understanding and compassion for guests’s needs. I had pre-paid a 3 nights stay and had to leave a day before, as there was a cab strike in Marseille which prevented us from getting our train. I explained the manager that we had to leave one day earlier, as we would have to drive from Aix to Paris to get our plane. He refused to give us a refund from our last day, although acknowledging that we were unable to take the train in Marseilles as planned. Lots of other tourists were left on their own as unlike us they didn’t have a car. I feel the hotel staff should be prepared to deal with such situations and to give refunds to customers like me, who are trapped during these disruptive strikes, which unfortunately are pretty common in France.

Don’t stay here.

Ugliest rooms I have ever seen. No character at all. Bathroom only had a tub and hand shower. I wanted a room with a walk-in shower but they said they were full. They were totally inflexible. When I said I wouldn’t stay there they were going to charge me for the entire stay. I was able to negotiate for half which was crazy.

The hotel is just outside the main area of Aix-en-Provence making it very peaceful. It is also walled from the road. You feel like you are on a country estate. The grounds are tranquil, beautiful gardens, many fountains, several pools, all but one heated. A large, beautiful dining room and several small rooms for reading and relaxing inside the hotel. .Amazing spa, I had the best facial of my life there with Carla.

Secure on-site parking which was included.

Based on the amount we paid, if they were undergoing Renos the next time we were in the area we would book somewhere else. When the Renos are complete we would for sure stay there again!

Horrible!!

How can give this place a negative star. It was under major construction, nothing open, restaurant, gym, they were extremely rude! The only people who were nice were the 2 that gave us the approval for us to check k out. It was the worst experience ever!! It had glue fumes, smelled, cutting tile all over the grounds with a tile saw outside our window Plants all over in pots, weeds. We talked to the management we got the ok to checkout without penalty. Got an email to prove the conversation. But now after, they are not refunding our money.

Spent a couple of nights here after a Rhône cruise. We were unlucky with the weather which was over C 40 and had to spend 11am to 6pm in the air conditioning. However breakfast and dinner on the glorious shady terrace with view of the garden and Mt St Victoire was heaven. Staff charming, beautiful buffet breakfast (with freshly squeezed orange juice), eggs cooked order, fruit etc. Dinner is more of a fine dining experience but with relaxed friendly service and the best sea bass I’ve ever had. Prices aren’t cheap but not silly either and worth every penny. We will be back but in a different season so we can fully enjoy the garden, our enormous private terrace and swimming pool.

Hotel s very nice with a beautiful grounds, but pretty far away from old town, basically 25-30 min walk through residential neighborhood with nothing to see around.
Our check in was excellent, but room had plugged sink, poor working toilet and not working charge outlet. We called for service, and same person who valley pur car tried to fix our sink. He really tried, but it didn’t work.
Breakfast was ok with very mediocre service, no one knew what are they doing and who is serving who. We had to wait for a long time for coffee and our eggs. But food was very nice even with pretty limited options for 5 stars hotel.

A little garden oasis brings you to paradise in Provence. Superior bedrooms?

We stayed in 2 rooms for 2 nights in the newer wing of the hotel and it did not meet our expectations of a 5 star hotel. The staff were great, but the superior rooms are not. The bed area of our rooms were well appointed, but the bathrooms looked old, with a wonky toilets and anaemic showers. Note also that the hotel can be hard to drive to (lots of one way roads) and is in a less than salubrious area.

I loved the location, which was a 1/2 mile walk from the city center and old town areas to explore. The beautiful gardens surrounding it were amazing. Our favorite was the bar, and the the young singer there at the piano bar on tuesday and thursday nights. Her 40s-style music was captivating, the drinks were perfect, and even the bar food was scrumptious! The hotel management was so helpful when we had a problem with our rental car, and took great pains to help us. They also have a bus going into town once every hour, which was super great. Our room was very comfortable. We loved our stay, and Aix en Provence.

Needs the public areas updating.

I’ve marked the condition low as the lift is tiny and antiquated, it also broke down during our stay.
The staff on the whole were friendly and helpful, however we asked for a restaurant reservation and it hadn’t been made when we arrived.
The room was bright and clean. We stayed late September and the weather in the evening was a little chilly, but they wanted people to eat at the outside bar.
They did serve us inside eventually.
It is a 5 minute shuttle bus into Aix and the taxi on the return had a minimum charge, which was a bit frustrating.
We had the breakfast each day which was good but quite expensive, try and get an inclusive deal if possible.

Overpriced and under maintained

We stayed here for our honeymoon and left disappointed. Provided we were paying over $400 per night, our expectations were high and were not met. The facilities are frankly in disrepair and I would expect better from a hotel that was $150/night. Additionally, the bed was two twin beds pushed together that were as hard as a rock. The garden and bar area were enjoyable however. Upon asking for other accommodations or a refund, I was only offer a 37 euro credit for a few drinks. I would not recommend wasting your money and stayiding at this hotel, but it does have a nice night time ambiance in the bar area if you're so inclined.

The property is beautiful, the staff is very helpful and the rooms are well appointed. I dinged them a little because we were placed in a room next to a serving area where we heard a door slamming pretty regularly. Would be nice if they provided a serve-yourself option for coffee rather than a pod espresso machine. Pricing on food, particularly the brunch, was very high. Per person brunch was over $70 US. It was obviously worth it for many but not me.

This 5 star hotel is very welcoming and the service is friendly but exemplary. Our only complaint is regarding the extortionate cost of eating there. The special 3 course menu is \"not available \" on Saturday nights. Therefore A la Carte is obligatory. Although the food is beautifully presented and good
the prices are not justified.

Nice, quiet hotel with beautiful gardens. The room Is slightly on the older/outdated side, but that is party because I am coming from a hotel that was very modern in comparison. There was a broken glass upon arrival from the previous guests in the room, that I contacted the front desk about, so walking around was a little disconcerting at first, but it seems like it had all been vaccumed. I appreciated the welcome gift and complimentary water.
