Asked for a room upgrade on arrival & were given a room where the bathroom door only opened partially as hit bed, big chunk missing from toilet seat & managed to badly stop my toe on a metal door stop in bare feet!
We mentioned all this as we left this morning & were offered a drink by way of compensation. Not useful at 8.15am.
Didn’t mention during stay as only there for a couple of nights.
Would we stay there again? Possibly as a last resort

Booked 3 rooms for a one night stay. Rooms were nicely styled but one of the rooms had a terrible smell in the bathroom. We reported this to reception straight away but there were no other rooms available. We were offered one free drink as compensation. The smell did not affect the bedroom as long as the door was closed but my son had to shower and use the toilet in our room as the smell in his bathroom was so bad.

The other disappointment was that breakfast was served in a basement room and not in the beautiful dining room. Breakfast was poor for the money. If visiting again I would eat at a local cafe rather than the hotel.

Hotel in good location for Palais des Beaux Art and our chosen restaurant - both a short walk away.
Useful to have secure parking.
Room was excellent, with a bath (although water could have been a little hotter).
Beautiful decoration on the restaurant and in the hallway/stairs.

More cons than pros

As other reviews mentioned there seems to be a drain issue at this hotel, quite a strong sewage smell upon entering what was the tiniest room I’ve ever stayed in, nowhere to even open your suitcase or walk around the bed. I believe it’s normally quite reasonably priced but had been increased by over 300% per night due to the rugby World Cup. Very friendly staff though and great secure parking, not the best area but only 10 euro for a taxi into Lille centre

This is a friendly small hotel in a quiet area in Lille. We drove from the UK so the onsite parking was a real bonus and the hotel is easy to get to - just a few minutes from the motorway. Check in was easy and staff friendly and polite. Our room was small but the bed was comfortable and the room had all the amenities you need.

As with previous reviews there was a slight smell of drains. If I kept the bathroom door shut it seemed to reduce.
Hotel about 15 mins walk and contrary to others I don’t think it was an unsafe neighbourhood.

We had a lovely time staying at the hotel in Lille. We were only there for one night, so it was great for us. If we had stayed any longer, we would have found the area somewhat disappointing as there is very little in the neighbourhood. But the hotel bar and restaurant were really good and the hotel decor was fascinating. Good stop over, but not best location if you are staying any length of time.

We received 2 beds and we had kinda two rooms, but one room had the toilet and the other room had the sink and shower. The food and service were wonderful. The elevator worked when we arrived but after the first night it stopped working. Thank goodness we were onl the first floor. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Just an overnight visit to Lille.We chose the least cost room - 3rd floor and small but well equipped with bottled water, tea and a Cafe Richard machine and a good shower room.
The 2nd floor was being refurbished without any disturbance to us. It is in an attractive residential street in a post-industrial area - not surrounded by cafes, but has an interesting restaurant which seems very popular with locals. The free onsite parking was very welcome when we arrived, and the Lille Metro system is about 200m away.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good restaurant in the hotel. I ate dinner at the hotel three nights, and the food was very good all three nights. My work colleague had a car, so used the secure parking adjacent to the hotel. I chose the hotel because it was close autoroute, had parking, and close enough for me to walk into the center of Lille, and close enough that I had a short Uber ride to the EuroLille train station.

Take a nose peg!

The hotel room stunk of sewage, after opening all of the windows, it finally dissipated, in the morning opening the bathroom door the stench hit us as it was clearly coming from the drains in the bathroom. Not pleasant at all.

The hotel staff allow people to park cars blocking other cars parked, so if you are needing to leave at 7am and you have been blocked in by another car, good luck finding who owns the car, getting in touch with them and getting to move their car otherwise your sitting ducks.

Great staff but our room was tired and very small

The hotel is really unusual in a good way, full of character and the staff absolutely wonderful.
Great breakfast and bar, nice outside space and in this area of Lille off street secure parking meant we could relax knowing the car was safe.

The room was very small, could not open the bathroom door fully as the bed was in the way, and the double bed only really accessible from one side..

If the guest was a larger person there would be difficulty using the bathroom, kind of bathroom where you could do all your ablutions standing in one place.

The rooms need to be refurbished, they are looking tired and worn out. And please for the sake of squeezing guests in, please do away with one room on each floor to give the other rooms a bit more space like other hotels.

If we could reserve a bigger room we would certainly stay again. Staff are this hotel's biggest asset.

The Best Western Urban hotel and Spa, was not what I expected at first however My stay even though a short one was a pleasant one.The only real issue i had was that the time that i stayed there the jacuzzi was out of order. regardless the staff was very accommodating and helpful should I return to Lille in the future I would stay there again and would recommend it to friends and. family. The BWUH&S is a little way out of the from the centre

Avoid this hotel and part of Lille

The room was too small to fit a suitcase in let alone two people. The restaurant was merely serving warmed up food from elsewhere...as confessed by the waitress. No kids menu.
Our car was broken into right outside the hotel. The receptionist was hardly bothered to help. However, the cleaner and police said it was happening all the time.
My advice is to avoid.

No hot water in our bedroom, room very dark, no compensation offered in lieu. Receptionist brought us bathrobes and slippers to shower iin another room. The heating in this bathroom didn't work. Shower controls very flimsy. Obviously a maintenance problem. The staff was kind but not big on initiative. Positive point is the secure car park and good breakfast, lovely lady in breakfast room.

First room we got on the first floor had a nasty smelling bathroom (like sewage) so we requested a new room. The new bathroom smelled ok but had footprints, hair and water stains on the floor. The bed was ok for one night. Cigarette smoke from the outdoor area below us wafted into the room from the window TIL about 2am. I was afraid to use the air conditioner because of all the mould growing around it on the outside edges. Breakfast buffet was quite limited but will get you going for the day.

The courtyard space is chic and delightful,the staff were wonderful and accommodating, the food was delicious andthe atmosphere relaxing. My toomwas a little dusty, the bin was broken, the shower cubicle cracked, broken toilet roll holder, no spare toilet rolland no remote. A little attention to detail and this place would be perfect.

We booked this hotel primarily for the secure parking as we'd driven. It's very easy to get to from the Euroshuttle. Our room was very small, but really we were only there to sleep, so didn't bother upgrading to a bigger room. One night we ate in the hotel which was reasonably priced, nicely presented and good service, although my husband's salmon was a little on the rare side. Another night, we ate at Layalina, a Lebanese restaurant about 10 minutes walk, which we'd very much recommend - there aren't very many restaurants in the vicinity. It's a good half hour to get into town, but the metro is about 5-10 minutes away, and the L1 bus is even nearer and fairly frequent.

Reasonably priced for a short break

Stayed as a one-night city break for a short couple getaway. Room was quite compact, bathroom seemed more spacious than necessary. Both were reasonably clean. The safe did not seem to work and appeared to be locked with a master key; we didn't really need it for 1 night though so didn't feel the need to enquire with reception.

Had read various reviews saying the area is not too nice, however we walked in daylight and dark from the hotel to the town centre, about 1 mile walk, without feeling too much uneasiness, seemed no less safe than the next European city.

Car parking was available adjacent to the hotel at no extra cost; reception provides a key-code access to enter; it seemed reasonable secure with high walls and metal gate (a full gate that you cannot look into from the street) again contrary to other various negative reviews it seemed quite sufficient and safe.

Although the hotel advertises a bar facility, there is no separate bar, so you will be joining people dining. We had a couple of drinks at the back of the small restaurant, which was quite quiet and therefore felt a little awkward.

Poor area, small room, mouldy towel... no lounge, bar is 2 stools in front of 1 metre counter, in the way of anyone going to ground floor rooms. If you use the spa downstairs you have to go through the \"bar or lobby in your bathrobe. Against that, restaurant food ok, staff brilliant. 25-30 minutes from lille centre on foot. Outside garden area needs to be cleaned and fences repaired.

I got a steal of a deal, the room was that bit smaller than is really OK, a proper coach driver's room. Otherwise, I couldn't have been happier. The restaurant is special, and all the public areas are way better than a hotel of this class deserves. The staff also were all fabulous

Very polite young gentleman on reception, who spoke perfect English. He informed me of everything available including the spa, if I had more time I would have possibly used this facility. The hotel is interesting, with a curious history, however the bedroom is decorated disappointingly bland, with white textured walls. Despite this, it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I did not take breakfast, but the restaurant looked inviting and professional. There is a secure car park, which is accessible by big steel gates, although not a big problem, this are could be a little tidier with direct access into the hotel. If I was in Lille again, I would stay at this hotel again.

Great option a short metro ride from the centre

A great example of a Best Western offering a flavour of the local area. Whilst it's not in the heart of the action in Lille, it's just a few minutes from a metro station, and it's safe. The hotel is clean, comfortable and friendly, with good quality food and drink at sensible prices. My room was small, but I went for the cheapest option - it was still comfortable and more than adequate for a business trip, with a very good shower. I'll definitely consider it for my next Lille trip!

Don't be fooled by the spa and pictures of rooms

I booked through Expedia, when I got to the hotel the room was the very basic room , it was extremely tiny, there was no legroom or room to breathe. It was the smallest space I have ever seen. I was ready to go book another hotel, I was then told that that was their basic room and I could upgrade for extra £20 per night. The price for this hotel is absolutely ridiculous! For the same price you could book a 5**** hotel like Crown plaza if you book well in advance. I was fooled by the spa, which was no good . You had to pay for it. Lille in general was a bit expensive considering it's only a small town. Remember to download and use the uber as the normal taxi will charge you 4 times what uber will charge, it is ridiculous! They start the meter from when you book the taxi so they charge you for coming from their office to pick you plus the cost of the original journey you're making, it's crazy! Overall book a 4 or 5**** hotel in advance. This hotel is just a basic hotel , staff was quite good though apart from the female manager who was quite rude!

Clean hotel, loud floorboards. Its an older building with charme but also some noise from the floorboards. Single room is really a single room. At checkout they tried to charge me twice for breakfast, bit cheeky.

Reception staff were very helpful. I could see hotel was a bit tired and there was a stain on the floor next to my bed. However bed was comfy and i always got a good night sleep.

Hotel near Calais / Dunkirk motorway

This hotel is not located in a pretty neighbourhood, but then most of Lille is not very pretty, apart from the main square. It is situated very close to the motorway to Calais and Dunkirk, so convenient for people travelling to the ports. As the area around the hotel is very run down, we used the car park provided by the hotel, which was kindly offered to us for free as we occupied several rooms. The building dates back to the 19th century and the original decor is preserved in the entrance hall, which also serves as a dining room. Some of the paintings are also visible from the transparent lift. Rooms are decorated in a colourful and trendy way and comfortable with good beds. We stayed in this hotel during a heatwave and the air conditioning was a real blessing. Breakfast was a mix of continental and cooked. We also enjoyed one dinner in the hotel which was convenient, but not spectacular in terms of food. Staff were very helpful and we enjoyed our stay.

Le tarif est un peu cher, les chambres sont vieillissantes, la douche a également bien vécu ( porte qui ne ferme pas et le réglage du mitigeur est soit trop chaud ou trop froid).

chambre exigüe ,mais vraiment exigüe a peine 11 m2 salle de bain comprise .
pas de place pour les valises, pas de rangement .
la serrure de la chambre avec 5 descentes du 3 ième étage pour réactiver les clefs .
moquette tachée, et odeur désagréable dans la chambre.
manque une touche por le loby dans l'ascenseur .

l'hotel à besoin d'une rénovation, pas digne d'un Best Western c'est le premier ou je suis décu .
le restaurant \"Rococo\" est très bien ... bonne cuisine.

L’accueil a été très bien.
L’hôtel est globalement propre.
En arrivant dans la chambre, nous avons été atterrés de la taille du lit, de la chambre et la salle de bain.
Impossibilité d’ouvrir la porte de la chambre entièrement, le lit (en 140) l’en empêchait, à peine possible de faire le tour du lit avec nos quelques affaires dans la chambre, grosse déception.
Le sol grinçait, nous entendions tout ce qui se passait dans le couloir et avons même senti le mur ou le lit était collé vibrer car notre voisin entrait dans sa chambre.
Bref, nous ne sommes même pas restés et avons réservé ailleurs.
En gros : des combles aménagées en chambres d’hôtel. Pour le prix, ça a un peu piqué.
Mais je tiens à souligner l’accueil qui a été excellent, et la réception nous a proposé une autre chambre, mais c’en était trop.
Comme un sentiment d’avoir été un peu trompés par les photos des chambres sur le site, qui ne sont en aucun cas révélatrices de la réalité.

Alors que j avais réservé l hôtel pour le parking inclus, ce dernier n était pas disponible pendant ce we et l hôtel n a pas prevenu (alors même qu un texto de pre enregistrement a été envoyé...).
Les chambres sont correctes mais l'insonorisation est mauvaise.

Je ne reviendrai pas dans cet hôtel et ne le recommande pas.
Visiblement il y a un super resto que je n ai pas tente du fait du premier sujet

Au top une belle surprise

Un bel hôtel dont les photos ne reflètent pas l'hôtel et cela a été une belle surprise, une belle bâtisse et les membres de l'hôtel ont tous été sympathique et très agréable.

I ordered a deluxe room, but I think I received a comfort one only based on the pictures.
Hot water not very hot. And the nespresso machine not working properly.
It's a pity because it's a really nice building.

Ein sehr schönes Hotel mit sehr höflichem Personal. Das einzige was uns gefehlt hat, war eine richtige Hotelbar. Es gibt zwar eine Vielzahl an Getränken, aber diese muss man entweder im Hof auf Lounge Möbeln oder im Zimmer genießen.
