I stay at this hotel a fair bit with work and am usually pleasantly surprised, however this time my room was really sub-standard. The carpet hadn’t been cleaned, the room was really damp and the bathroom was coated in black mould from the floor to ceiling and on the shower curtain.

Staff were helpful as always but a personal choice is not to be shown to a table at breakfast by the catering manager, I know where to sit.

On the note of breakfast the hotel have recently changed the buffet breakfast is served, with all of the hot food now kept in the open under heat lamps (which are useless). Previously the items were kept in large catering containers with heating underneath so the food didn’t dry out. The breakfast was disappointing.

This is a so so hotel. It’s aging and showing it. The rooms are a little bit pokey and very very basic.
The staff are great and friendly, so the stay was okay, but I wouldn’t choose to stay there again. Room accessibility is bad as the bulk of the rooms are a long way from reception and a fair amount are up flights of stairs with no lift access.
For the price point you can do a lot lot better. Basic and boring.

Large older style hotel in a convenient location. Bright welcoming reception and bar and spacious dining area. Room was good; comfortable bed, tv and tea and coffee. Good shower but it was leaking from the shower control end out of the shower on to the bathroom floor and out of the bathroom and wetting the carpet in the bedroom by the bathroom door. Also it didn’t seem that the extractor fan in the bathroom was working well / at all. We reported both of these faults and hopefully they will be rectified. There was also a gym which seemed well equipped although we didn’t use it on this visit. Nice hotel, good staff and good location for a competitive price; we’ll be using it again.

We have stayed here many many times over the years. I’ve left good reviews before - sadly not this time.
Our room wasn’t serviced properly on any of the three nights. The breakfast was lacking and almost cold on morning 3.
Staff were so helpful to get resolved.

Rooms are in desperate need of complete refurb ! My bathroom looked like it had been overly used since the 70’s, peeling enamel , cracked and just generally dingey bathroom, woodwork peeling , tiles been up since year dot. Also frame around window was worn peeling and had dead flys on sill, there was also a cigarette butt on the floor as i went in, also food spillage that hadn’t been cleaned !! The cleaners are clearly not bothered , however when speaking to management and front desk about my findings they were really helpful and kind! Overall the room was awful but the staff were excellent !

Most of the hotel looked okay but our room was not. We were given room 13 (unluckily). The hotel was fully booked and despite booking months in advance, we got given a room on the lower ground floor. The fact she apologised when she gave us the room key was the first sign we were not in for a treat.
To get to our room we had to walk down a long corridor past meeting rooms etc - I may be wrong but it had overflow room vibes. It smelled like dust and damp as we were walking down.
Once in the room it was clearly due an update - scraped woodwork and walls, dirty grout, etc. A moth flew out of the curtain when we shut them.
The drain in the bathroom had multiple flies jumping around it. I really needed a shower after a long day at a festival so attempted to wash them away. As soon as I turned the shower on there was loud banging. It went on while the water was running and for a couple of minutes after - I clearly could not use this facility.
The bed sheets didn’t look clean and the whole room made us feel itchy.
Checked out after 30 mins. Reception staff apologised, blamed the cleaners and said that they can’t check every room to make sure it’s clean - no resolution was offered so we just drove home.
Would not recommend.

The place was clean as expected and t u e staff efficient and courteous. Breakfast was varied enough to cater for all. I had a full English cooked breakfast while my wife as a vegetarian was provided with a cooked breakfast made especially for her.
The hotel has its own parking which is not charged extra.
Altogether a great experience.

3 of us stayed in 2 rooms for a couple of nights (family wedding nearby). Our room was clean, the bathroom overall clean, a little grubby on the wall tiles over the bath (probably limescale) the extractor fan wasn't working so it steamed up a lot, not a major problem though. The room was small, but fine for us. Our room (ground floor) was very quiet, due to not directly adjoining other rooms and being at the back of the hotel away from the road. The parking was easy, could park fairly close to the front entrance no problem. Good choice at breakfast, hot buffet available, fresh fruit, cereals, toast, pastries and were shown round were everything was on our first morning by a very helpful member of staff. Had a couple of evening meals in the bar, which were very nice. The staff all very helpful, friendly and polite. Easy check in and check out. A bit of a damp smell along the corridor but probably due to the swimming pool (didn't get chance to use that or the gym - which looked well equipped).

We were compensated for the issues we had but the hotel is in need of a proper uplift. The room was tired and dated and the beds are cheap spring mattresses. This isn’t something the general staff have control of, but it must be said for there to be any improvements.

Pet friendly and even has a dog bowl and towel station as you walk in!

Staff are fabulous - I booked this as a getaway for my fathers birthday and mums mothers day. The staff went above and beyond to make the weekend special by giving them cards, a free drink and a birthday cake pudding! We really appreciated all the friendliness from staff.

Restaurant has a good choice of food and couldn't fault it! They even accomodated the soya, onion and garlic allergies we have.

Could do with a bit more attention to cleaning in the rooms (a few cobwebs, and a few stains on the floor). But apart from that it was fab x

Hadn't read reviews till the night prior to arrival. Wish we had. Room wasn't clean, carpets badly stained, didn't take shoes off. Food / unknown substance all over the picture on the wall. Sealant hanging off and mouldy at base of shower. Poor maintenance regards filling of holes on the desk. The fridge had been removed from its housing and left on the floor. Mouldy smell in the dowstairs bedroom corridor. Also read that the '4 STAR' hotel only has a 3 star food hygine rating !!!!!. So even though we were booked in for 2 x nights, we decided to cut our losses and didn’t stay at the hotel and went to the Premier Inn instead. Unfortunately as we had booked on a none flexible booking basis we arenot due a refund.

Not impressed on this stay I'm afraid. Both body wash and shampoo bottles in shower completely empty and no milk with the tea and coffee. Room was very small and noisy in the evening and early morning from close adjacent rooms. Lots of slamming room doors on the auto-closer. No non-alcoholic beers available at the bar, only a couple of cans of Guinness and Kopparberg. Raised room issues with reception on check out but they didn't seem interested and the feedback probably won't even be passed on. Lots of better options available for £140/night! Won't be staying there again

The Wash Basin was blocked, I advised staff and they said they would have someone check it. I returned from the Spa only to find that it was still blocked.

On top of that the mattress was terrible and spri gy Which resulted in a bit so good nights sleep.

The hotel does look like what is in the pictures. No lift on tge of our arrival we have to take all our luggage’s and wheels up without lift. They only helped when I went to asked them nothing like porters.the hotel hallway stints sometimes but their breakfast is nice and delicious. The rooms are properly cleaned everyday.

Very quick check in. Favour, the receptionist generously gave me a free breakfast as me being an IHG member and celebrating my birthday 🎂 Plenty of choice for cooked and continental breakfast Steam and Sauna room are both relaxing, pool in the water could be a few degrees warmer. Comfy beds. Bathroom can do with updating. Good stay overall and would definitely come again.

First night we notic a leak in the bathroom.

We booked two separate rooms for the two families travelling together. I booked it using the same account, but the reception gave only one set of keys. They were not aware of the second room until I showed the booking confirmation.

The halls were long and narrow. Our rooms were on the far end of the hotel and took us more than 10mins to walk there. The two rooms we got were on two different branches of the hotel, so it's another 10mins walk between the two rooms! We felt that there was no point in booking together. Horrible room allocations. Absolutely hated it.

Breakfast was average continental options, but expensive for £10 per person. It was only on the last day on checkout we were told that there was a menu with more items to order if needed - like pancakes, tea, coffee etc. The whole arrangement felt like a scam business.

The rooms were tiny and cramped with just enough space two fit legs to walk around. Two people cannot walk past without one person jumping on to the bed or sofa bed.

The rooms smelled like mold all the time. We thought it was just a random smell until we started falling sick on the last day of our holiday. I got throat infection and runny nose before we started, followed by high fever after I got back home. I was floored for 3 days and developed chest infection afterwards. My wife also got same symptoms on the way back and is now sick with fever.

I'd avoid this place at all costs.

This is an awful hotel. The building is from the 80s, it’s run down on the inside, a real time warp but not in a good way. My bedroom smelt damp, there were ceiling tiles not fitted properly on corridors exposing the cables and plumbing etc. I couldn’t check out fast enough come the morning.

Great hotel. We had an incident whereby on night one a neighbouring room had a very loud and aggressive domestic. Staff acted promptly and it was dealt with. I have to say the staff here are fantastic. Amazing with kids, go out of their way to be kind and helpful. The food is great. Pool is an added bonus. Rooms clean, warm and good hot water shower. Ticked all the boxes for us. Bus stop across the road so east access into Leeds too. Definitely will be booking again when back in Leeds

I've stayed at this hotel several times and everytime there is an issue with the key cards not working correctly. The system is ancient and the owner really needs to invest in a better system.

The food at the restaurant is a warmed up Brakes catalogue and is a complete rip off.

The Staff are a real saviour of this place and are always helpful and friendly.

At check-in there was a guest with one receptionist so I went towards the other without looking up indicated with his hand for me to go to the other receptionist, it was so rude I was speechless! When more guests arrived behind me, the receptionist busy with a guest asked for assistance, he completed what he was doing then checked me, handwriting on the room was so bad could not read WI-FI code!
