Clean and worked very well for a short stay. Friendly front-desk staff. The room was standard, small with a comfy bed. Fresh towels every day. Within the room the shower was smelly (the drain). The shower head was also leaky. These were just minor things, otherwise pretty good value.

Booked two rooms for family of four. Very clean hotel. Small rooms. Decent continental breakfast. Only a seven minute stroll to the railway station where you can get trains into central Geneva that take little over 20 minutes. Friendly staff. The lift wasn't working but that wasn't n issue as we were on the first floor.

We stayed here as a budget friendly alternative to staying in Geneva. It wasn't fancy but you aren't paying for fancy.

The room was clean, spacious, great shower, comfy bed, free wifi and large fluffy towels. The staff all spoke great English, were really friendly and helpful.

We stayed over a weekend and we could hear the bars and restaurants below on the Saturday night but it didn't stop us sleeping, The other nights we heard nothing.

Transport links were great for both the train and tram. We easily explored Geneva and the Alps.

Bit of a nightmare.

Took them 3 attempts to give us a clean room, we had to change rooms after the first night and they charged us twice. But hey, they gave us a free breakfast. The walls to the rooms were insanely thin and we could hear every single noise outside. But the location is pretty damn good.

We booked a 4-person unit, even though there were only 3 of us traveling. We expected it to be more spacious. It just included one queen bed, and two twin beds. There wasn't any real dresser, so we had to keep our clothes in the tiny closet, or the open-shelf unit. Mostly kept stuff in our packing cubes. The room was directly on a busy street, so noise was a problem at night. Staff were extremely nice, and very helpful.

We expect better from Best Western!

We chose this hotel as an ideal location to break a journey to the French Alps, but after the long drive from the UK, we were kept awake by the noise from a popular bar opposite the hotel, and then by a crowd of youngsters who had chosen the adjacent room (205) to hold a party at 1:00am! The night porter did come up, following my request, and spoke to the occupants, but loud chatter continued until 6:00am! Thankfully, the hotel breakfast lifted our spirits, but we will not be staying here again.

A good alternative when visiting Geneva

When visiting Geneva, this offered a cheaper alternative to the expensive Swiss hotels. The number 61 bus stops close by, or for early morning or late night journeys the terminus of the regular number 12 tram is about a 25 minute walk away (and work is well underway to bring the tramline much closer).

La Place is the place.

Everything was as you would like it. Particularly good WiFi connectivity and helpful friendly staff. Very handy for trains and buses - will be even better when Ceva operational.
Only one very minor down - had to keep asking for milk and tea bags!
Would definitely stay again.

The hotel is comfortable and in a safe environment. Though its far from Geneva Centre but its close to public transport and there is constant transport to geneva Centre. Perfect place when one wants to be away from the pressure of city life. Staff very friendly and could also speak english which was good for me. Very clean and comfortable as well.

Decent alternative to Geneva

Decent alternative should you find Geneva full/overbooked, kept clean & a good range at breakfast in a pleasant Basement room. Access to Annemasse should improve when the works to extend Geneva's tram system to the town are complete, otherwise the bus service is ample, but taxis are somewhat expensive for the short distance covered.

Right in Downtown Annemasse

We were in Switzerland and wanted to spend a night in France. Annemasse is only a few kilometers from Geneva. We were right downtown which is like a small village. They have off road parking in a secure place behind the hotel. The restaurants and shops are all a short walk away including the train station and TI center. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Our only complaint was that we were on the street side of the hotel so it was noisy from the street traffic. The continental breakfast was fine

We only stayed one night en route to Geneva airport -- we were at the hotel for a short sleep of 6 hours. The price was right, the room was clean, the bathroom modern and the bed comfortable. The room is small, so we don't recommend for a long stay. Karim, The night night receptionist, was pleasant and helpful. The location was good but we had no time to see Annemasse. Last, if you want to be close to Geneva airport, the prices of hotels in Annemasse are far less. It took us only 30 minutes to get to the car rental return location. Good value for our purpose.

A basic hotel, but with pleasant and helpful staff

Hotel La Place, is an old style French town hotel. Basic yet clean and with helpful pleasant staff. Bed Linen was good, but the mattress was cheap and too hard for my taste. I stayed at Hotel La Place whilst working in Geneva as all the hotels there were full. It certainly does not compare in quality to a Geneva hotel, but the price is much lower to compensate.

Had to go to palexpo during a busy week and booked last minute. Did not realise that the hotel
Is actually in France, although that was not a problem. The room is pretty straightforward, no frills, but it was very clean, quiet and I got a good sleep, which was what I needed.

Highly recommended simply satisfying French hotel.

The room was very clean and neat. It was roomy with very large, soft bedding and a clean bathroom with fresh towels. Housekeeping does a great job and they work hard everyday. The front desk people are very nice and very, very, very helpful. They make you feel at home. The breakfast offers some of the best Swiss cheese I ever ate in my life. It was that really good foreign cheese, the type that bodybuilders recommend that you eat for protein. Yogurt, eggs, fruit and hot coffee are offered and the staff make no qualms if you want to sit in the dining hall for as long as you wish and enjoy your breakfast. The hotel even supplies French daily newspapers for your perusal.

Small city in France. But inside Geneva

Runner of light on my way from Rome to Paris. And had to stop in this place. It is not a nice city and actually is inside Geneva but on the french side. But room was clean. Confortable and we had free parking. Restaurant downstairs had decent food. So overall it was better then expected. We just spent one night and left. Nothing to do there.
But if you need a place to sleep go there and have a good rest.

Decent alternative to high-priced Geneva hotels

Single rooms all seem to be on the street side, which is very loud. But the 61 bus stops right out front to take you to Geneva Cornavin train station for 4 euros--this is the main reason to stay here.

Be warned that I counted at least four construction projects within two blocks of the hotel and Sept 22, 2013.

Easy walk to Annamasse train station. I took a nice train ride up to St. Gervais just for fun. Area is beautiful but the town's a bit of a pit.

TV did not work--got one channel. Bathroom was good with a tub but a low, handheld shower. AC unit said it was blowing air at 17 degrees celsius, but I woke up sweating. You can close shutters windows and drapes for complete darkness at night, however.

Bed was fine. Breakfast was decent for 8 euros. There's an elevator.

Area has mainly Turkish places to eat. There is an MLK, Jr. Blvd. for some reason.

Good value hotel in town setting near all amenitie

The hotel is good value and well situated for amenities and transportation links especially if you are travelling to Geneva. There are several restaurants two or three minutes walk, a train station about 5 minutes walk and a regular express bus service to downtown Geneva (Cornavin station). The hotel has been recently redecorated. The room I had was spacious and very clean.
I would quite happily stay again in this hotel.

The room and price were ok,pleasant staff, clean room, but it was a hassle to get to the hotel with one way streets and construction.The biggest complaint is getting luggage to the room, all through a big parking lot, then through 2 doors that you have to buzz to get through, then around to the front of the hotel, then through another door, up stairs, then to a tiny elevator that will fit either you or your luggage. Worst access in the last 300 hotels I've stayed in.

Hotel La Place - an alternative to Geneva

The main thing to recommend Hotel La Place is price if you are \"staying\" in the Geneva area for a few days. Cost is at least 50% of Geneva hotels. It is actually in Annemasse in France, but only about 7 km from Central Geneva. Central Geneva (Gare Cornavin) and Annemasse are at opposite terminuses of the number 61 bus route. Costs Swiss Fr 5 per trip. Buses run regularly up to 10:20 PM from Geneva. The Hotel itself is not good quality, but it is adequate for the price. Breakfasts at Euro 8 are expensive.

Very inconvenient to get to UN area in Geneva

The rooms were functional but fine. However, it took me 1.5 hours to get by public transport from the hotel to the UN area in Geneva (2 buses and 1 tram). The buses are also very infrequent later in the evening. I would not recommend staying here if you want easy access to the center of Geneva. There used to be a bus in front of the hotel that took you straight into Geneva, but it has been discontinued. The neighbourhood is run-down but felt safe enough.

Great location, perfect price

I stayed at ths hotel for 18 days and it is a great alterntative to the expensive hotels across the border in Switzerland. The hotel is pretty barebones, but very nice...like a super decent Motel 6. The room was really large and the couch was extremely comfortable (more so than it had any business being) and I even ended up sleeping on it a couple of nights. It's located in easy walking distance to the train station and main bus station (7 minute walk# and is located within a nice markety area filled with lots of little shops and open air promenades. Staff primarily spoke French #no surprise) but were very friendly and were very helpful in trying to assist with any questions. Best bargain in the area!

Functional, though not charming

This is an economical alternative to paying Geneva prices. If you sync up your schedule, you can catch a bus and tram from right outside the hotel to the center of Geneva in about 30 minutes, however you ought to know that bus service gets much more infrequent on Sundays.

Free wifi is good, and I didn't find it an any of the other similarly priced hotels on my trip. Breakfast was better than I expected, but a little pricy. A bakery or cafe may be a better deal (though Geneva food is always expensive).

The bathroom shower was awkward to use, with the showerhead attached at about waist level. Maybe the French know how to shower comfortably with such a setup, but I didn't. My knees got nice and clean, though.

Great hotel near Geneva

We wanted to visit Geneva, but hotels in Geneva are too expensive. So we stayed in Annemasse, France, just outside of Geneva (about 30 minutes by tram to the border, and a bus to hotel). The hotel was clean, our room was clean with a nice little bathroom. It costs about 5 francs for the tram and about 1.5 francs for the bus. We ate across the hotel at a turkish restaurant; they were very nice and the food was good. The only negative is: When we made reservation, we asked for a room facing away from the street, we wanted a quiet rest, but they still gave us a room facing the street, so you could hear the cars and people talking.

Not too far from Geneva

Had to find a hotel in/near Geneva but didnt like the Geneva prices. Found La Place in Annemasse on this web site and we were very pleased with it. Comfortable, very clean and close to bus stops. It took a bus and tram ride - about 45mins - to get to Geneva central, but worth the saving of over £100 per night each on a Geneva hotel.

Cheap and Clean hotel for families

We were please with this small hotel. Normally we stay well known brand hotels. This time we choiced this because we needed family room and just needed room for sleeping. The bathroom was cleaner that I was beeing prepared. I think that this hotel was good value for money and better than normally in France for this price for four persons. Room was just like it was in picture. Beds were clean. I have to tell that beds were not soft, but it didnt matter because we were so tired after spending day in golf tournament. And not forgetting free parking in gated and locked area.

Très bon accueil, tout le personnel est très souriant et sympa.
Énormément de bruit dans la chambre avec une isolation inexistante.
Des travaux dans la rue partout pour encore 2 ans ce qui rend la ville sinistrée (magasins fermés, pas de trottoir par endroit, pas très sûr le soir).
Point positif : le tram a 500 mètres qui vous emmène directement à Genève rapidement pour moins de 5 €.

Wir haben sehr lange gebraucht um das Hotel zu finde. In vielen Straßen um das Hotel wurde gebaut. Dazu fast nur Einbahnstraße in diesem Bereich. Guter Parkplatz auf dem Innenhof, gegen Gebühr. Gutes WLAN auf dem Zimmer. Das Restaurant im gleichen Gebäude ist zu empfehlen.

En el mismo centro de Annemasse , muy cerca de todo y super cómodo ir y volver a Ginebra desde ahí ya que el tram está a 4 min y te deja en Rives en el centro de ginebra en 20 minutos.

Tres bien.

Hotel en plein centre ville, proche de nombreux restaurant. Propreté impeccable, personnel agréable. Bon rapport qualité /prix.Seul bémol le bar d'à côté qui met la musique trop fort jusqu'à tard dans la nuit.
