The hotel was near to metro and buses.
Very near 3 mins walk to Republique square, shops and restaurants.
I felt that some of the staff at the front desk were inexperienced and comprehension of English was limited.
Which was unfortunate as i usually can rely on Ibis style chain hotels

Quiet corner, lots of food around!

Tucked in a corner near Place de la République means it’s quiet enough to rest while near the subways and buses. There’s a water dispenser for drinking in the lobby. Glad I brought my own bottle. Plenty of eats around. Staff are helpful!

Room was expensive for what it was

Basic Room, very small. I had to switch rooms because the first one had a nasty smell. The 2nd room was ok. No shower caps or other amenities.

However, hotel staff were great and helpful, offered me early check-in.
Breakfast was ok, the usual bread, toast, croissants, cereal, chicken slices, ham
Slices, cheese, cereal etc. boiled eggs. Fruit. Stock was really low on Sunday, no fruit or sliced bread left.

Location was good and easy to get to from the Eurostar station. Took me 15 minutes.

The only reason why I'm ratinf this hotel this way it's because I contacted Expedia long time ago and let them know I wouldn't be able to travel so I was requesting to cancel my reservation and get a reimbursement. It was an emergency and I feel like the hotel could have done more to be helpful. I was very looking forward to travelling and staying at this hotel but the poor management preferred to not make an exception and have a customer dissatisfied just because of lack of empathy or flexibility, and greed.

Next time I travel to Paris in May I'll make sure not to stay at this hotel and will not recommend it to my friends.

The hotel is what to expect for a relatively inexpensive hotel in Paris. The front desk staff was very friendly. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was great. The area around hotel is gross. The area suffers from a serious homelessness and drug addict problem. We travelled all around Paris and this was clearly an epicentre of the city’s social problems. If I could do it over, I’d stay somewhere nicer for a bit more.

First the good parts. The staff was truly amazing. They spoke several languages and we're always willing to help (opening wine, switching rooms, giving directions). They made my stay special. I also like the location close to many supermarkets and restaurants. Metro République is a block away. Now the not so great. The property itself is in need of renovation. If you have mobility issues it will be difficult to go down to the basement for breakfast. The rooms vary tremendously in size. I settled on a second room on the 5th floor, that despite the low ceiling had windows that actually opened to let fresh air in. I would stay again if the price were right.

Small room desperately needed updating. Breakfast was good, but the AC unit was filthy. Dirt balls fell out of it onto the floor and the suitcase below. Did not see it until checkout, but GROSS. In addition there was a Metro strike on Friday and no notice from Mgmt on the announcement board.. Consequently we missed our train and had to rebook for a train 6 hours later. Thanks for nothing

DO NOT STAY WITH IBIS CHAIN

bad part of town, riots and transient persons filled street. No AC even though they advertised AC. Staff refused to assist in any way to help us deal with no AC, they entered our room even though we had Do Not Disturb on the door, and personal items were missing. Staff and Management refused to do anything about it. I will NEVER stay with IBIS again.

Visited August 1st when weather was hot. In my room the much needed Air conditionor was positioned directly over my bed pillow end which prevented me from havinf a good nights sleep. Also significant noise from the street through the night did not help. Considering location and price OK for a single night as with my stay but would not recommend for anything longer.

Good location and friendly staff.But lots of problems...the bathroom was smelling awfully all the time so WE bought a refreshing air spray to stand the smell.No refrigerator and no safe-box, terrible air condition in the room and at the reception.This was NOT a 4 stars hotel as Expedia site mentioned.Finally,the stairs inside the room was romantic but super exhausting even for us (35years old)...We wouldn’t recommend it.

It was a good place with friendly staff working but breakfast was not having a lot of varieties of food in addition to wifi was weak a bit , in addition that I had heavy bag and it was really a bad situation to try to find my room and take the bad inside and outside of the room as the corridor was very narrow and lift was far away from my room.

I liked the fact there was tea and coffee in the reception area whenever you wanted it.
I think the rooms are a bit dated and could do with a bit of TLC.

Paper thin walls, advertised pictures misleading, purchased nonsmoking but room next to use was smoking and we could smell the smoke coming into our rooms. Wall paint peeling; heater has chuncks it mutes falling out. General disrepair. In waiting area good tv channels in room laughable. Window curtains had dirt growing on it, yet cleaning staf disregards do not disturb sign and enters room. Property access has not been updated since 18 century, you have to use a key and every time you leave building you have to leave your room key. Bathtub is made for a 4 foot human.

A basic hotel 4 minutes walk from Republique. Convenient enough location to travel around via the metro. With a good number of restaurants, fast food, supermarkets, it makes for a reasonable stay.
Canal Saint Martin is less than 5 minutes walk sway, although there isn't much to see/do. Quite a few pricey restaurants lining both sides of the canal.

This is a small hotel with limited facilities and amenities. The restaurant only serves breakfast with limited choices. There was no egg even.

Check in is efficient. The only lift was not working during my 4 days' stay. The spiral staircase is narrow and hard for people going up/coming down at the same time.

Single room (some have bath tub) is small and narrow. There is no warddrobe nor in room safe. Limited TV channels in French. Hair dryer is available but no tooth brush nor in room coffee/tea making facility. But tea/coffee is avaiable at the reception. Hot air conditioning is not working well.

The single bed s comfortable, so is the duvet.

I booked the room early at lower rate so it is worth it.

The hotel is in a great location, just a minute or two's walk from the Metro, which connects directly to Gare Du Nord, so perfect for those arriving by Eurostar/train.

We had booked two single rooms and these were on the top floor, so nice and quiet. The rooms are in the eaves so some sloping ceilings and quite low ceiling so maybe not good for very tall people - perfect for us though.

The beds are larger than the single beds we have in the UK so this was nice, and they are very comfortable.

The bathroom was small but adequate, with a good water pressure and lots of hot water - however I would warn about the size of the showers, they are tiny. I am 5'6\" and the ceiling of the shower was maybe 7\" higher than me, so again, not good for very tall people, and the cubicle was very small/narrow, I couldn't bend in it so washing legs and feet was hard.

Breakfast is a standard 'continental' type breakfast - some cereals, breads, cheese, ham, fruit salad, croissants and chocolate pastries, yoghurt. I read some people complaining about the breakfast but it is great to set you up for the day.

You have to leave your room key when you go out, which isnt an issue as reception is 24 hours, however I was quite surprised and worried that whenever we got back no one asked our name or for ID, they just gave the keys when we said the room number - anyone could have gotten in!

All in all a great hotel for the price, but please, be more secure with the room keys :)

I stayed at a single room and it was very small but big enough for a one person. The WiFi connected very smoothly and I didn’t hear a sound at night so i slept well.
The free breakfast buffet was much better than I was expecting so over all my stay there was very comfortable .

First of all I think the hotel is in a great location! Only a very short walk to shops, restaurants and the metro!

We felt a bit unsure not having our room key as they take this off you when you go out. We understand in case of pick pocketing however there was no security questions asking our name or anything when we came to get the key and it was frequently different staff who hadn’t seen us before.

Room was ok. Comfy big bed! It was a bit too hot and when you open up the door it was very noisy. All the furnishings had marks on them and dirty and I think it needs a refurbishment or lick of paint as didn’t look as clean and modern as the pictures on the website.

Yummy breakfast included - just what we needed before going out sight seeing!

Great that they had a bag room so when you check out you can leave your bags and come back and get them and a toilet you can use too!!

We had a lovely time in Paris, such a beautiful city and we spent most of our time out sight seeing so the hotel had everything we needed and in a great location for us to get everywhere that we could!

nice hotel - great location

The hotel is an Ibis hotel so we were not expecting 5* comfort. We wanted a place to put our head down for one night and for that the place was great. It is a decent hotel in a very convenient location close to the metro station Republique. The room was clean, bigger than expected and the breakfast was ok. Service was quite slow but again, this isnt a 5* hotel. Check in is supposedly at 12 but when we arrived we were told that our room was not ready. not great but we were able to leave our suitcases at the hotel and explore the area a bit.

A true budget hotel

The location is excellent with metro stations nearby, shops, restaurants and a small supermarket. The staff were very friendly and helpful. But this is, after all, a budget hotel. I just wanted a clean, safe place to sleep and shower really as I was mostly out and about. This hotel is fine for that and not much more.

One night in location I wanted to be. The room was very compact which was OK for one night but not for much longer. There was no proper chair to sit on (and no space for one), no proper cupboard for clothes.

Cheapish and well-placed for transport

We stayed one night, having moved from a much more expensive and actually not so good hotel. Pleasant welcome, clean room. Near to Republique which is a major Metro interchange. Within reasonable walking distance of Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est. Plenty of restaurants in the area. Safes in the lobby, not in the room. Reception manned 24 hrs, with beverages provided. Free WiFi. We are are older couple; children would have nothing to do in the hotel. Stairs to lift and to breakfast room, so apparently not accessible to wheelchairs.

Where was the style?!

This hotel was no better in fact one could say it was worse than a standard Ibis hotel. What is style? Wall painted and chipped in bright garish colours, plastic lamps just thrown on to the bed head and a cheap pack of sweets that must of cost all of 20 cents!
The bathroom was like a wardrobe so small it was uncomfortable to use and I'm not a big guy!
Very disappointed and would not return.

Very close to republique square and metro. Rooms are a bit small. Breakfast a bit basic, but it will keep you going till lunch. Staff nice. All in all got what we paid for considering how expemsive paris is. Tip: don't get a room on the 5th floor, ceilings are ridiculously low.

It smelt of smoke. Even though it was a non smoking room. The view was of 4 brick walls and air conditioning unit. Tiny bathroom for tall people. No milk for coffee through out the evening. But, the bed was very comfy.

Great location.

It was a nice and fun holiday. I stayed for 3 nights. Good location and its just less than 5mins walk from the metro Republique. Everything about it was perfect and I will definately stay there again. The price was good as well and I love the room and its always clean when I go out. Wifi was on point, cos I love browsing when am relaxing, thats a plus for me. Lots of good and optional places to eat out and accessible to other part of paris by walking. Looking to visit again before August 2014. Ibis for live :)

Good stay, we were there for Rugby at Stade de France. Close to Metro , and only 15 minutes walk from Gare du Nord. Some of our party did not have 2 beds in their room so had to share , but the hotel was full.very nice bar /restaurant next door. Friendly staff. Rooms small but all you need.

Ok but disappointed

We requested a baby cot for our 1 year baby to sleep. After 3 times phone call 1 time email confirmation we thought the baby cot would be ready when we checked in. But it wasn't. They said there is not baby cot available for us. So they \"kindly\" gave us a big bed which should be big enough for a baby to sleep together with us. Then they promised the baby cot will be put in our room next day in the morning between 10-12u. And it didn't happen again. We didn't see the baby cot at all until we checked out. This is very disappointing. Sorry.

is it worth the price?

The rooms are small...the finishing does not look good at all.. I could see bathroom wall papers and flooring peeling off. There was a huge Bed but it was two single beds put together - which i did not ask for. Over all cleanliness is good. But the hotel lacks space.. It is conveniently located close to Metro Station. But there is a cinema theater nearby and can be noisy in the evenings.

This hotel offers a comfortable stay in a good Paris location with close access to the metro and a twenty minute walk to the river for Notre Dame. Our room was clean and the bathroom worked well. Breakfast was of a high standard and the staff were helpful and friendly. There are places to eat nearby and a small supermarket. The Place de Republique is close to the hotel with boulevards radiating out to different parts of the city. Fast food and metro are on the square which is very pleasant with trees and statues.

You get what you pay for

Overall the hotel was ok, with reasonably clean rooms. The breakfast was good with fresh orange juice (you have to squeeze them yourself) and enough croissants to make a good start of the day. The key hangup we had was the dated feel of the hotel and the short cuts they make with both the decor and the bed (two single mattresses and two duvets for a queen size bed). With a bit more friendliness from the staff and an update of the rooms this could be a nice place to stay.

A 15 minute walk from the Gare du Nord, a slightly shonky hotel in a fantastic location. Perfect for simply sleeping and leaving your bags in; it's certainly not a 'destination' hotel. The rooms are well maintained if basic, and the bathrooms are tiny. Slightly bizarre lack of wardrobe, rather just an exposed hanging rail, the preference seeming to be for you to leave your bag open as your storage on the bag stand. A bare minimal hotel in all.\
However, the breakfast is good, and the coffee bearable. Suggestion would be however is save your money on breakfast, and stop off at one of the many small cafés for a croissant and espresso for €7 for two en route to the centre, that should save you about €15 per day!

We enjoyed staying at the Ibis Styles, it was just around the corner from the Metro in the Republique so it was easy to get to. The bed and bedding was amazing, we didn't want to get up and looked forward to going to sleep every night. Although it doesn't state it on the booking page, our hotel rooms (2) each had hair dryers which was a great convenience. Although a little small/cozy, the room was plenty sufficient.

I stayed at the Ibis Styles Paris Republique this past weekend. Location was great, grocery store and plenty of restaurants/fast food places nearby. The metro was a 2-minute walk.The bed was one of the most comfortable I've slept in, including many 5 star hotels. The good quality pillow top mattress and pillows helped me sleep like a baby. Room was small and clean, but the bathroom could have been cleaner. There was free coffee and tea in the lobby and the complimentary bottles of water in the room were replaced every day. Breakfast was basic, but it was free so no complaints there. Internet access was free as well, I went online on my smartphone and the connection went dead every 5 minutes. Reception staff was friendly and polite, but unfortunately I can't say the same about the staff in the breakfast room. Another downside is that the TV only had one channel in English. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would definitely go back to this hotel.

Very good place to stay as a solo traveler. It had the most comfortable bed I slept in during over a month of travelling in Europe. When the French say \"petit dejeuner\" they're not kidding about the \"petit\" part. The breakfast was meager by American standards, but I doubt you'd find more anywhere else for the same price.

Great to stay a few days for couples and single tr

Very conveniently located with a Republic Place being rebuild in to a modern park- it will make it even more attractive.
The room was small but modern neutral deco gave it a smart look, minimalistic furniture did not overcrowd the room and made it comfortable. The staff was very nice. The breast was good and a good choice of pastries, bread, ham and cheese kept you going. They do not appear to serve a cooked breakfast but there was a freshly squeezed orange juice, freshly baked croissants an d pain chocolate. Can’t complaint.
The luggage can be left securely until 6pm in the hotel lobby if you depart from Paris later.

Overall a pleasant stay.

Humble neighborhood. Low Cost Hotel

The neighborhood was humble, but not far from nice sites. Metro was conveniently just a half block away. Breakfast was ok. Room was very small but clean. Shower drain was partially clogged forcing us to save water with short low flow showers. We asked for repairs, but it was not done despite promisses. Staff was friendly but only some were fluent in English.

It was just ok stay .there was an issue with a lock in a room and it took effort on our part to fix. It but it got broken again and did not alarm the management.the hotel by Paris standards is better than average.the hotel people are not unfriendly but just indifferent.

Nice location, Great Breakfast

This hotel is about a ten minute walk from Gare du Nord / Gare de l'Est, and is close to the Republique metro stop. The hotel entrance sits along the Rue Leon Jouhaux, and the rooms overlook the surrounding neighborhood. The staff was friendly and spoke decent English. The breakfast was fantastic with a good selection of items; definitely a selling point. The room itself was starting to look dated, but the staff did a good job of keeping the place clean. The location and breakfast really made this hotel a great deal, and I wouldn't hesitate to coem back again.

A equipe foi bastante prestativa. Porém, as instalações deixam a desejar. O prédio é muito antigo, piso irregular coberto/escondido com carpet. apesar de limpo o aspecto acaba deixando dúvidas. O café da manhã é bom, porém é servido no subsolo/porão, com escada de acesso caracol e bastante perigosa, não oferecendo acesso a pessoas com pequeno grau de dificuldade de locomoção. E o acesso aos quartos se dá num verdadeiro labirinto! Fiquei no quarto 109 e tinha que atravessar 5 portas (6 com a do elevador) muito pesadas, tipo blindadas, muitas vezes tendo-se que atravessar 2 portas no mesmo portal. Além de extremamente pesadas, o hóspede chega com bagagem tendo q vencer o piso irregular, com carpet, uma infinidade de portas pesadas, corredores estreitos apresentando risco do hóspede rolar pela escada q não tem espaço nem nenhum tipo de proteção. Sem contar o acesso ao único elevador, com 4 ou 5 degraus irregulares e sem apoio para quem entra ou sai dele. Mas, reforço a presteza da equipe, a limpeza e o bom café da manhã.

Ce n’était pas une chambre, mais une cage à poules, plafond à 1,80m, crépis d’un autre temps, mobilier de l’époque du crépis, draps un peu grisâtres, l’impression que les voisins sont dans la chambre tellement c’est mal insonorisé, et tout cela pour pas loin de 300 euros la nuit… à fuir
