The property is completely misrepresented on Expedia. It is advertised as a hotel, but it is not a proper hotel — it’s just a half floor with a few rooms.

There is:
•No elevator
•No WiFi
•No water at times
•No hot water
•Loud construction noise

None of this was properly disclosed in the listing.

I specifically chose this place because it had a good rating on Expedia, but the actual conditions are extremely disappointing and very uncomfortable.

This is not what was advertised, and I would not have booked it if the listing were accurate.

This hotel was in a perfect location. It was within walking distance of the Coliseum, Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. Check in process was great. Everyone was friendly and spoke English which was fantastic for us. I'm giving it a 4 because the noise from the bar below was quite loud several nights. Also the water for the shower would go really cold quite quickly.

Room was clean, and I loved that the AC unit worked properly! Shower was kind of small (but I'm kind of not small), and hot water was spotty at 6:00 am. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The elevator was out of service but thankfully Hotel Cortina is on the first floor. It's a convenient location in Rome and I would stay there again for a short stay.

Great location, terrible property. Lift had been broken for quite some time prior to our arrival date but the property never alerted us. We are in our 70’s and had to drag our bags up 22 stairs to get to the front desk. There was no one capable of assisting us.
The front desk ladies were very kind and understanding but unable to lift our bags.
Our room was advertised as “superior” for which we paid extra. After dragging our bags up 22 stairs, we found the room was anything but. Broken refrigerator, no wardrobe or closet space to hang your clothes, dead bedside electrical outlet, very dim lighting in entire room and worst of all the room is directly above an Irish pub that had nightly live entertainment. Very, very loud, noisy room. We expressed our concerns to the manager who only offered a 20% discount on a future stay! Unacceptable. Would never stay at this property again. Do not recommend at all.

Room very noisy, as we were above and Irish bar and on the outside facing the street. The hotel provides ear plugs, however I brought my own gel ear plugs, and you will need them if you need silence to get to sleep.

In the junior suite, they provide coffee and tea making facilities, however the cups were never cleaned by the staff, and no replenishment of the tea and coffee once used.

Incredibly friendly staff both at reception and breakfast who were more than willing to help us out when we needed it (e.g. providing a fan for the room, making sure we were attended to at breakfast and giving local recommendations).

The breakfast was an Italian spread that we both enjoyed thoroughly with enough variety for a picky eater. The room was clean and well decorated and we barely heard any noise from outside with the window closed. The room size was comfortable and functioned perfectly for sleeping and the odd pit stop.

The location was good with a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro or around 20 to 40 minutes to all of the main attractions such as the Colosseum, Vatican City, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc. There was also a fantastic gelato shop right outside for those late night cravings and many shops down the same road.

The only negative was the lack of soundproofing in some parts as we could clearly hear breakfast being set up (around 6:30AM) and some heavy construction noises from an adjacent building.

The hotel is very conveniently located right in the centre of the city very close to the railway station and downtown Rome but the biggest issue is that it is a small hotel located on the second floor n there was no elevator from getting the bags to the second floor - you have to take the stairs. The room was average - clean but no coffee machine in the room which to me is a big no. Moreover, the washroom n the shower are too small - I know rooms n washrooms are small in Europe but this was way too small.

Amazing hotel with professional and friendly staff. Check-in and check-out were smooth. The room was spotless and had all the necessary utensils. The location of the hotel is super convenient — most of the sightseeing spots are within walking distance, and the train station is also quite close. The metro station is nearby as well.

The hotel offers free tours, and I highly recommend them if you have enough time. We paid for breakfast, and I never regretted it — it was delicious and had a wide variety of options. A great thing is that there was always plenty of food; even if you came at the end, you still had all the choices available. I highly recommend adding breakfast, as it will save you both money and time.

Absolutely recommend this place! If I return to Rome for vacation, I will definitely book this hotel again.

This place is super friendly and has a great location. You can go to the train, metro, and bus stations in a few blocks walking. The main attractions are all within walking distance. The only downside is that the hotel is closed to a bar, and you can hear people downstairs and in the hallways from your room.

Everyone has a different feature of a hotel that makes it great- for me- a great hotel provides a good night sleep when I am traveling for sight seeing. When we travel for pleasure, we are out and about all day and just want to crash at night. For us a hotel does not have to be fancy but just somewhere we can get a good night sleep. The bed was comfortable, pillows were comfortable and the lighting was conducive for sleep. Everything worked well. The hotel is a little dated but it was fine! The biggest plus for me, was that there was AIR!! Real air conditioning!! Rome was close to 100 degrees while we were there and we were outside sightseeing all day long. We were so tired at night and wanted to shower and go to bed- it was a special treat after a long hot day to have a nice cool room. I slept so well!! Who cares if the furniture is dated when the room is dark, cool and comfortable. We were all well rested and ready to go the next day! The staff were helpful and friendly! Overall a convenient hotel with a lot of character!

What I loved about the property was that it was within walking distance to many of the main tourist attractions like the Colosseo and Trevi Fountain. The hotel was nice, clean, what made it exceptional was Liubliana’s treatment, she was so kind and went above and beyond in helping us feel as comfortable as possible, very attentive and professional. The lift was not working, we had 2 large suitcases (because my daughter was studying in Italy for 4 months and we were headed home), which were really hard to get up the stairs. Then, we tried going to bed at 10pm since we had an early flight - couldn't get to sleep because there was a lounge singer nearby (in the next room?!?!) that sounded like she was in the room with us. Not a great night of sleep. I'd pick another hotel next time - non va bene.

Nice, but odd

We had 2 rooms, booked at different times. They were very different. Seemed like they are updating and one room hadn't been done yet. That room had a tub in the bathroom, but no grab bars for safety. This room also did not have coffee or tea. The second, updated room, was nice, but odd. There was no closet or drawers for storage, only a shelf that ran the length of one wall, a rod with hangers above the coffee/tea bar, and a corner with a curtain.
The service was good. They had a nice breakfast for a small fee.
It is a very old building and the elevator was out of service. Luckily, we only had to go up one floor. When we checked out, they helped us take our luggage downstairs.
Overall, it was nice, but probably wouldn't stay there again. They do have a \"sister\" hotel around the corner.

This was a great place to stay. Walking distance from Trevi and Pantheon. They offered free experiences…we wanted to do the night tour of the Colosseum but we just didn’t have the time. Only downside was the elevator was out of order at the time of our visit. Fortunately, we didn’t have a lot of luggage this time around. We learned our lesson the last time we were in Italy so we pack light. Other than that it was a wonderful experience and I would recommend the hotel to anyone.

This is a pretty nice piece. Super quiet, clean, great staff, very helpful, respectful, close to local transportation and train station, restaurants, shopping for just about anything, and of course churches.
But keep an eye open, look for the light brown heavy doors, or you’ll miss it. Ring the doorbell on left side, easy.
Receptionist Liubliana and the nice lady in the restaurant are the best! Btw, the lady in the restaurant makes a fantastic capuchino!

My stay at Hotel Cortina was amazing!!! The staff were all incredible and always willing to help in anyway. I always felt very safe here. The hotel is centrally located and on a busy street. It was always easy to find my way back too and an easy walk to landmarks around the city. Most of the big ones are about a 25-30 minute walk but it is beautiful in every direction!! There a lot of cute restaurants on this street and shopping as well. It was also in very close proximity to Termini Station if you plan on taking the train into Rome. I would absolutely come back here again on my next trip to Rome. I couldn't reccomend them enough!

There were approximately 24 steps & no working elevator! Thankfully the staff provided some assistance when we were unable to navigate the steps with 2 heavy suitcases. Also our room was facing the street & we were kept awake with very loud street noise. The staff were very friendly, accommodating & offered assistance when requested.

Cozy hotel with great staff. my wife and two children stayed in this hotel for an overnight in Rome. The staff was awesome, they keep the bags in storage while they visited the city. The room was great, clean and as it looks on the pictures. The hotel is close to the train station so is a great place to stay if you have an overnight and have trains to catch.

Quintissential European hotel - lovely!

When we arrived, it took us a moment to figure out to press the call button...interesting entrance...pretty neat! A small hotel with great service. The breakfast was delicious...complete with cappucinos and pastries! They even accommodated an early breakfast for us. The room had a balcony with a window that opened up on Via Natzionale, which was really neat to look out and see. When you closed the window, it was totally quiet. We loved the individuality of the rooms and style...a bit quirky with steps here and there. The location was amazing...very close to the metro and trains. The staff was awesome to help us arrange shuttles and even carry our luggage up the one flight of stairs!

My only criticisms would be wifi...it didn't reach our room. We had to go sit in the lobby. The other one would be the bed and pillows were a bit firm, but some may like that.

This hotel is convenient to the rail station (we walked) and the metro. We also walked to Trevi fountain. Lots of little shops and restaurants nearby. It took me a second to figure out where it was because there is at least one other hotel in the same building and the sign is kind of small. Desk attendants were really nice and helpful. The elevator was down while we were there if that’s an issue for you. Cortina is just on the first level above ground level, and they offered to carry our bags (we declined). A great first experience in Rome!

This is the exact type of location that we were looking for. We just needed one night before heading to the airport. The staff was excellent, giving us directions to places that we wanted to go.
Breakfast in the morning was good. Very handy that it was available.
(Would’ve been nice to have a microwave in the room though?) As well as maybe a kettle, for tea?
Overall, excellent, I would definitely choose this location again. Mostly due to great staff!

No working water, the shower would take a long time to warm up then when it finally did, it would all of a sudden turn freezing cold or so hot it would burn your skin. The toilet barely flushed. The shower head was old and barely functioned. My fiancé is tall and, since there was no sign to warn guests of the extremely small front door that is identical in material to the wall, hit his head so hard it was bleeding and scarred. He’s so lucky he wasn’t hospitalized. When we told the front desk, they were nice about it but blamed the building, and didn’t promise to put a sign up for future guests. They essentially said it wasn’t their problem, which is very disheartening. A four dollar sign is much cheaper than a lawsuit. It’s a new hotel, and the receptionist told us their company just acquired it, and are working out the kinks. Why are we paying full price to be your guinea pigs? I would not recommend staying in this hotel until they get their act together.

We had an okay stay for one night last week before our flight back to Chicago. The location is good with shops and dining nearby except for the Irish pub below the hotel. I had read other reviews complaining about the pub and late night noise, which we experienced, but thankfully were so tired were able to fall asleep.

I had specifically asked the hotel to assign us a room away from the pub and we were put in a room facing the street with the pub next door. Hmmmm....must have already been full.

The room was small but clean and we did have to use the A/C which does not stay on and requires you to start again after each cycle. Just glad we were not there in the heat of the summer.

They did arrange for a private car to drive us to the airport which worked out perfectly for our early morning departure. We also did not book a room with breakfast so cannot comment on that.

Overall it met our needs for a place to stay in Rome as we transited from the Amalfi Coast to home.

Erika was very nice and helpful via email and when we arrived to check-in.

Excellent stay in Rome. Good welcome from the staff. The apartment was spacious and clean, AC was excellent. Wifi was best.

Kitchen facilities are spot on and have a Nespresso coffee machine and capsule complimentary to use. The tea facilities in the apartment were excellent.

Excellent location, the staff explained well and helped to plan our visit.
Close to the metro and walkable to all attractions.

On main Shopping street.

Hotel breakfast was average but never mind.

Fully recommended to all friends and families.

We enjoyed our stay. But, with the heatwave, and the air conditioning being preset at a low of 18C (unable to make it colder), we had a sleepless night due to the heat. We spoke to staff the next day and they were able to get it fixed.

The staff are all very friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable and there is air con in the rooms. Great location for sightseeing in the city. Breakfast was not included in our booking , but we were able to have breakfast for a small extra fee, which we did on most of the days. The hotel is old fashioned and has lots of character , and is in good condition. The only issue was that is it accessed up two flights of stairs , which is not easy if you have walking difficulties.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Cortina. It is really convenient for all the major sights, being only 15 mins walk from the Colosseum/Trevi Fountain/Spanish Steps etc. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness of the hotel is to a high standard however the condition of some of the facilities could do with an upgrade like the showers. Towels were threadbare and small, so bring your own if you are precious about that. The bed was comfortable and there is air con in the rooms. Breakfast was served 7-10:30am and consisted of pastries, ham, cheese, bread, cereals, fruit, juice, croissants etc. The decor of the hotel is not modern, but more traditional and charming. Overall I would recommend Hotel Cortina for its great location and friendly service.

We stayed one night here and it was good. It's very close to the Rupubblica metro stop (A line), and a walkable distance to a lot of neat places. Our room had a couple steps that I kept tripping on, but that's a personal problem

Hidden gem!

Very comfortable, spacious apartment tucked away in an alley off a major shopping street. It was easy to get transportation and walk about 15 to 30 minutes to some major sights. Difficult to find the place, must call the staff and they will come get you and bring you. Lots of restaurants nearby. We had a rental car and luckily a parking garage was next door that the hotel made arrangements for.

The hotel was cute and charming. It was difficult to find at first, as it is in a part of a big building, but once I checked in the host was very welcoming. It is in a fabulous location, walkable to a lot of attractions, and very close to the Metro and Roma Termini station. Wi-Fi worked the whole time.
The water in the shower was a bit difficult to maintain heat wise, and the stall was small, but that’s my only complaint.
