This place was a fun place to be! The rooms were very clean, spacious, a/c was blasting cold. The resort had different food options, a buffet, and also a sports bar that closes very late! Cant forget about the amazing staff that we encountered there especially Susanna, Gustavo, Victor, Viri, Moises and all the bartenders and waiters that served us. Overall, such an unforgettable trip!

This is a beautiful hotel that is well managed by courteous and kind staff who really go out of their way to be friendly and helpful. The food is great and I will say my favorite place was Italian spot La Dolce Vita with fantastic service from our server there it was just amazing David. The breakfast buffet and the French restaurant were also rock salad. Great energy and entertainment at night, really cool sports bar where we watched World Cup games.

Great staff experience all around. It’s unfortunate that the beaches were largely destroyed by the invasion of Sargassum. The odor was prevalent and we’re expecting a beach experience, you need to lower your expectations or plan on going to other places like Isla Mujeres once you get the experience of beach outing. The pool was a lovely substitute, but not quite the same. They told us that the seaweed problem is seasonal problem and there are ways to see how big of a property is with other applications you can download. In any case, it’s a beautiful place and a lovely resort we appreciate experience we had.

The food options are seriously lacking here and frankly I felt ripped off. They advertise many options for restaurants and snacks but in reality, most of it is closed and the hours are sporadic and unpredictable.

The night life at this resort is non-existent and the entertainment is mundane and seems like an afterthought. I won't be back to this resort unfortunately. There are many other resort options that don't lie to guests to get them through the door.

You get what you pay for. Buildings are nice and simple, food is average to below-average. Drinks seem watered down (except for tequila). Pool and bar closes too early. Some servers were a bit rude. It was alright, but won’t stay again.

We recently stayed at this all-inclusive resort and had an enjoyable vacation overall, though some areas could use improvement.
The highlight of our stay was definitely the staff. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and eager to help. A special shoutout goes to Diego, the main lobby bartender, who was exceptional. His warm personality, professionalism, and outstanding service made our days in the lobby especially enjoyable.
The entertainment team also did a fantastic job. The foam party was lively and fun, with great music and energy that kept everyone engaged. Caribbean Night was another standout event and provided a wonderful cultural experience. The nightly activities overall were well organized and enjoyable.
That said, we were disappointed to find that Blue Moon was closed for dinner on a Saturday night. For a resort of this size, having 1 dining option unavailable on a weekend evening was frustrating. Additionally, the food selection throughout the resort was somewhat limited, and there was a noticeable repetition of menu items from day to day. The desserts, unfortunately, were another weak point and could benefit from significant improvement in both variety and quality.
Compared to other all-inclusive resorts we have visited, we would have liked to see more live music in the evenings. While there was piano or guitar music in the lobby, it typically lasted only about an hour. Extending these performances would have created a more relaxing exp.

Overall great stay.

Check in was easy. Room key is a wrist band. Makes it easy to come and go. No key to keep track of. Security was great. There is a long drive from the front gate to the resort which makes you feel like you really are in your own world. Each time we left we had to be vetted to return. Not just anyone can get in.

The beach had seaweed, which made it impossible to use. That is out of the resorts control. Mother nature is undefeated. Every resort was affected. There are some unusual conditions causing the issue. I wouldn't consider this a negative that the resort could control. Do not hold it against them. Dump trucks and excavators hauling it out daily couldn't make a dent. It's an anomaly. A different time of year it likely wouldn't be an issue.

On a positive note, It forced everyone to come together and interact at the pools. That probably wouldn't have happened if the beach was the primary attraction. We made new friends there.

Restaurants were great, The activiry pool lively. Event staff was awesome. They have a sports bar that's open 24/7. 24 hr room service is available. Spa was awesome.

I like the plantation style design. No elevators, no waiting to get back to your room. Rooms were nice, and updated. We saw staff constantly painting, trimming hedges, and all the things to keep the resort looking great.

Really cool wildlife on site.

We would definitely come back!

This resort is AMAZING! you won’t find a better staff! Everyone was so nice and incredibly helpful. The only complaint I have is that there were not enough chairs by the pool. If you don’t get to the pool to claim a chair by 9am, you’re not getting one. This is incredibly disappointing and needs to be addressed.

Great staff and service! The rooms were always cool/cold which was great in the Cancun heat. When my husband and I first arrived, we were disappointed by the food and drink options. It wasn’t the worst, but certainly wasn’t the best. We chose to upgrade to privilege on site and enjoyed our stay a bit more after that. Because we were there in late May, we dealt with the excess seaweed on the beach. Since the beach wasn’t a make or break for us, it didn’t matter. Overall it was a great time and I’m glad we went!!

I rarely write reviews but felt this one was needed. I have vacationed at various resorts throughout Mexico for over 28 years. This was my first solo trip and as a 62 year old woman had some hesitancy. But I felt safe, cared about and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. This resort was excellent! The check-in was easy, the room excellent and amenties great. The buffet had great food but the reservation restaurants were the best. The Blue Moon was my favorite. I prefer an early dinner so getting a table at 6pm was no problem. The staff were very nice. Shout out to Gustavo, Mama Ceita and Moses. Awesome entertainment staff. I loved the daily activities and would only suggest to add more to the days that are lacking them.

The only drawback was the seaweed on the beach. This was a HUGE problem but not the fault of the resort. They did their best to keep it cleaned where they could. The smell was HORRIFIC but the breeze from the ocean kept it managable and you got use to it.

Loved the wild animals. I can only say that when people do not read the signs and \"feed them\", they do create injury but that is the fault of the individual who got too close. Observe them from a distance and admire their funny antics.

The pools were great. I love that there are 2 large pools, one with a more relaxed vibe and the other a more party vibe. A good mix. Resort catered to 40-60 year olds. Excellent mix.

A few things they could work on was the lack of signage when it comes to restaurants being open or closed & the odd worker came off as rude but most of the staff were very kind and accommodating. We had such a lovely stay at Ocean Maya Royale. While the resort itself had some quieter moments, the staff truly made this trip memorable for us. Their kindness, humor, and hospitality are what we’ll remember most.

Enrique — we tried to catch you before we left, but you had a later shift. We wanted to thank you in person for your hospitality and for helping us secure our reservation for hibachi on our last night. You were also the perfect introduction to the resort and immediately made us feel welcomed and taken care of.

Roberto — you work so hard and have the most welcoming energy. I genuinely don’t know how you keep a smile on your face while walking what feels like 15 miles a day in the sun, but thank you for making every day brighter.

Manuel — every time we saw you felt like catching up with an old friend. You’re an incredibly talented bartender who introduced Harrison and me to a new drink we ended up loving, and you made us laugh every single night. Thank you for embracing us and for being such a genuinely wonderful person.

The hibachi dinner ended up being our favorite meal of the trip. Huge thank you to Tony and Eric for such a spectacular dinner and for making the experience so much fun. And Carlos, our server, was completely on it the entire night.

The only problem during the last 3 days was bladderwrack. They worked the whole day to clean the sea, but it was impossible to take all the seaweed out. I would recommend to build a seawall.

We had an ocean view room which meant that a big loud truck would come every day starting at 7:30am to clean the ocean from sargassum. The loud noises were very annoying when you were trying to sleep. I would not recommend upgrading to an ocean view room during this season. Be aware that the hotel credit that you receive for being an Expedia VIP is not very usable. The hotel has a lot of restrictions on how you can use it. The staff are friendly and the rooms are very clean. The food is what you would expect from an all inclusive hotel. My favorite part of this hotel was their coffee shop.

Our second time and we had such a fun and memorable experience. The awesome entertainment staff- Vivi, Suzi, Gustavo, Moses and Victor ( I’m sure I forgot someone) kept things lively and upbeat. The daily entertainment they provided was fun and lively and the evening shows were well done. I also really appreciated the lifeguards whom were so friendly and helped out so much when needed.
Of course, I cannot forget to mention the bartenders. The bartenders were so pleasant and accommodating and made great drinks.
Finally, the restaurant staff are so hardworking and friendly and the food was great. Our favorite were the Baja tacos and fajitas! Exceptional!
There were a few minor issues - such as the sea weed that had a horrible smell. The staff worked hard to keep up with maintenance but the ocean won every time.

2nd time staying at Ocean Maya Royale. First was 2024 and most recently May 2026. Both stays exceeded my expectations. We arrived around 11am, while we were unable to check in until 3pm, we still had access to the resorts amenities such as the restaurants, bars, pool, beach etc

Once we checked in- the room was clean, they accommodated our request for 2 beds and near the pool. The room was nicely decorated with roses and an animal pillow + other amenities ( we checked in via the Privilege room & received these perks ).

The fridge was stocked with 4 bottled waters, 2 local canned beers, Pepsi, Orange Fanta & Diet Pepsi. There was a safe in the closet, 2 chairs + a table on the balcony. An umbrella was conveniently in the closet & plenty of storage space.

The beach was filled with seaweed and the red flag was up- definitely was not able yo swim this trip to Playa Del Carmen.

However - the staff made up for this with service. Everyone was excellent and helpful. The food at the buffet and the A La Carte restaurants were even better than my first visit. Except at Yakasoo- the Japanese restaurant- food was good however as I was enjoying it, so was a fly. This was the only thing that soiled that experience. Staff was notified.

Activities included - a nighttime foam party at the pool, sip & paint class, facial massage class, water aerobics etc

An incident squared at the pool are. One of the staff girls placed a table for activity (nice and fine) however she placed it in a position that it was with no room for me and my wife at our sitting table. I asked her if she can move the table backwards a bit so I could sit in my seat. (The are behind was totally empty) her response “ we do it here every day, in 30 minutes I will finish “. That led me to stay in the pool until she will finish the session.

You'd better keep all of your valuables in the safe!!! I found the house keeping staff stealing money. I hid all of my Canadian bills rolled in a scarf and tucked away in the bottom of my backpack in the closet. When my daughter and I returned to our room, we found the housekeeping staff coming around my daughter's bed from the direction of the closet. She went to grab couple of pillows off the foot of my daughter's bed and dropped bunch of Canadian $20's and $5 bills. She grabbed them and gave them to me and when asked she said \"they are yours\" Since my daughter did not bring any Canadian money with her, I grabbed the backpack out of the closet. My scarf has been tampered with and total of $100 was missing the exact $100 that supposedly fell off my daughter's bed who did not bring any money with her.
We reported this incident to the hotel concierge and filed an incident report and the security personnel was involved. The next day, I was told that the house keeping staff denied having stolen the money. I was told that she will not be cleaning our room and she'll be assigned to another area. After, I felt so unsafe and suspicious of all the staff even though they are very friendly and attentive. I had to make sure to lock the patio door and the front door and lock everything up in the safe. This incident certainly marred otherwise a lovely family vacation in a very nice hotel.

Overall, my experience at Ocean Maya Royale was phenomenal! The resort has several activities everyday making each moment different and a fun experience, creating many memories. Elegí este hotel para celebrar mi luna de miel y pudo ser una excelente experiencia lo único que lo arruinó fue el servicio de las personas en restaurantes, los host no te hacen sentir nada bienvenidos, no te saludan, no te sonríen, ni te voltean a ver, a los meseros los tienes que estar buscando para que te atiendan, no se acercan a preguntar cómo va todo y parece que les molesta que les pidas algo, que desagradable experiencia.

Meseros como Vicente, zury los chicos del restaurante japonés muy bien, así como los recepcionistas y camaristas. Ojalá puedan capacitar a su personal y que traten a todos los clientes por igual, y recordarles que sonreír y ser amables es gratis.

We chose this resort based on reviews, so I am happy to report our experience. The resort was so much more than we expected. Booking through Expedia, we somehow got the ‘privilege’ level at the resort. That gave us priority to make reservations at the restaurants, have a section of the quiet pool reserved so there was always chairs to get. It also included the top shelf liquors. The layout of the resort was like walking through a neighborhood and we loved that. The wild animals running around made it even more enjoyable. The resort is surrounded by jungle, so you are not smashed in between other resorts. The food was great everywhere we ate. We had some reviews about the steak house that the steak wasn’t good, but we didn’t try it. The rooms were big and really clean and well maintained. The grounds were always clean and well maintained. There was plenty of night time activities to chose from every night, or have a quiet night. The silent dance night was so fun. Headphones that had 3 choices of music, and you just dance around. All the staff were amazing! The ocean was a bit rough, and the seaweed was cleared. But we stayed with the pool.

The ONLY bad thing was the bed was really hard for me. I had to put extra blankets under me the first night. The next day they brought a different mattress. The pillow top was newer so it helped, but it was still a hard bed. But I was able to make it work. Just my back was sore everyday from the bed. But swimming and moving around helped.

my husband and myself stayed for a week and had the most wonderful time. All the staff are wonderful. We did not encounter one person that was not kind or willing to help when needed. We did stay in the privilege section and although did not use the beach area or quite pool we still feel everything else included was worth it. Our butler Leidy was amazing and every request was met with no problem, even on her day off.

\"We had an incredible stay at this resort. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and clearly well-maintained, and our rooms were spotless thanks to the diligent daily cleaning. What really made the trip special was the staff—they were genuinely happy and went out of their way to be helpful throughout our stay.
The two-pool setup is a brilliant idea; we loved having the option of a quiet, relaxing swim in one pool or joining the high-energy entertainment at the other. Food-wise, the main buffet offered a great variety with different themes each day. The a la carte restaurants were fabulous overall, though we felt the Italian could have been a bit more authentic. This place clearly has a lot of repeat guests for a reason—we highly recommend it!\"

Nice property and helpful staff with a beautiful pool. Unfortunately there was algae on the beach which made it hard to swim or go near the beach.

I went as a single and I wouldn’t necessarily recommend sole travelers to go here as it’s primarily made for adult couples and families.

Around 30-40 min drive from the airport. Grounds are very nice. Lobby is nicely laid out, with bar and coffee shop and tour desks. I really enjoyed the buffet and a la carte dining options. 2 pools, sort of small. Party pool has the pool bar which was always crazy busy which was unfortunate because we love to be in the pool and swim up for a drink but there was never any room so always had to get out. Pool chairs were always taken, but always room at the beach with open chairs. Beach is nice.
Gustavo with the entertainment team is so friendly and welcoming. He try’s to get everyone involved in the games and does a great job.
Not 100% on his name (starts with an A)but the server around the pool and beach was amazing, friendly and prompt with his service. Always making sure everyone’s thirst is quenched 😄
Estefanía at the buffet always greeted us with a bright smile and was so friendly.
Also shout-out to Anna at Mikes coffee who always remembered us and worked so hard making everyone’s fancy coffees, she seriously is the best!

We just returned from our stay, and all of us wish we were still there.

I will start by saying this was my favourite all-inclusive experience ever.
Staff- amazing!
Food- amazing!
Cleanliness- amazing!
Room- amazing!
Property/amazing!
Beach/pools- amazing!

I thought the property the staff the pools the bars and the room were all excellent and clean, however one downside to the trip is the food, the food itself is good, however as you stay there for over maybe 4 days to food starts to feel dull or bland, and the butter within the foo takes over, by the end of my stay i had flavor fatigue

the workers were amazing!! the lobby bartenders made perfect drinks, the pool bartenders work remember what we ordered and have them ready for us! shoutout Viri and Gustavo for the entertainment staff they were so good!! loved this resort it was VERY clean, food at every restaurant was amazing! nothing better than the El charro dinner though!!

We have been to a number of resorts in Mexico. We booked this resort based on the positive reviews. We liked the resort. It is smaller than other resorts we have been to which is mostly good, but some bad. We liked not having to reserve the restaurants. We were able to walk into the restaurants 8 out of 10 nights. We choose to go to the buffet for two nights. They only have 4 restaurants and a buffet on the resort for the peasants, not privilege people. We ate at all of the restaurants, most of them twice. The food was good for All Inclusive. Our favorite was the French Restaurant. A negative is that this resort only has 4 restaurants for the peasants.
The rooms were great, clean, hot water quickly, towels exchanged daily.
We did have to get up early in order to reserve chairs, in the shade, at the pool. I got up at 6 AM the first day and barely got a chair. I ended up getting up at 4 AM the following days in order to reserve our chairs. This is the earliest I have ever gotten up in order to get a chair by the pool of any resort we have been to in Mexico.
The beach is ok. We were there when the Sargassum was high.
I would go back to this resort again. The trade off of a small, clean resort with great hot water is a no brainier for us. The resort was a bargain at the price we paid for what we got.
Don’t use Etransfers. They didn’t pick us up from the airport, even though we waited an hour for them. They also didn’t pick us up from the resort. A total rip-off.

This was my third visit to the resort, and each time it just keeps getting better. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and truly enjoyable.

A big thank-you to Roberto and Enrique at Guest Services for a smooth check-in and check-out, and especially to Gabriela for helping us secure our à la carte reservations—greatly appreciated!

Herbert and Jorge at the Lobby Bar were fantastic and made every visit special by remembering my non-alcoholic chaya mojito. Vicente and Rosaisela at La Hacienda Buffet were attentive, and the food offered plenty of fresh and healthy options. At Blue Moon, Isai and Hilda provided excellent service and the food was exquisite. Grecia at Dolce Vita welcomed us warmly, while Alberto and Clara made the experience even better—the lamb chops were outstanding. At El Charro, Selene’s service was wonderful, and the molcajete and churros were delicious.

The resort itself is beautifully maintained, with a clean beach, refreshing pools, and a safe, relaxing atmosphere. The staff throughout are friendly and attentive.

We also enjoyed the entertainment, especially the silent party, fire show, and beach party. The live saxophonist on the beach and guitarist in the lobby were exceptional. A peaceful 20-minute walk to Tres Ríos, where the rivers meet the sea, was another highlight.

Overall, the staff, food, and atmosphere made this stay unforgettable. Highly recommended—we will definitely be back!

The rooms and grounds were very nice. We spent our time at the pools. Two large pools, two bars and some bar service. Food and food choices were good. The only negative was the beach due to seaweed. We usually see some seaweed at the beach but this was extreme as it was also floating in the water. They tried to clean up the beach but didn't have much luck. This also made it smell. Hoping it was just a bad week/month for the ocean.

We went with a large friend group 19 of us in total. The resort was perfect for us, everyone enjoyed it (44-68). All the staff were amazing. The resort was very clean and well maintained. The daily room refresh always made our room very clean.

Within our group we did three different excursions booked through Margarita. Our group thoroughly enjoyed them. Tulum+Cenotes, Catamaran, Reef Snorkeling.

The activities team is amazing. There are low energy to high energy activities. Most of our group are early risers so activates ending by 11PM was perfect for us. We enjoyed the morning tai chi, yoga, stretching with Viri; volleyball games, aquafit, crazy games with Susana, Victor and Moises and all the evening shows.

The lounge chairs under netting by the beach were our go to spot in the morning. We didn't find we need to secure any early and just used them while we were there. The only area that was very busy for chairs was around the pools.

Every day we enjoyed the pizza (or Tacos on Tuesday) by El Charro, it was great as a snack. The Mexicano was a favourite amongst our group. The hidden gem for food for me was the sushi bar. This is part of the Japanese restaurant and cannot be booked in advance but is walk in. It was never very busy when I was there, I'm not sure if many realized you could just walk into it. If you enjoy Sushi I would recommend checking it out.

We'd start each day with a mimosa during breakfast and try the drink of the day afterwards.
