Once I had the opportunity to relocate from a room that reeked of cigarette smoke, The rest of the stay was okay. They rent the lower end suites to large groups of people. Be prepared for a lot of noise and partying on Friday and Saturday night.

1 night stay. This is an old hotel that needs updating. Carpet is old and worn with stains. This hotel is poorly maintained. My room did not have a functioning entryway light (burned out bulb), the bathroom vanity light fixture had a burned out bulb and the tub/shower water faucet did not work. I had to get dressed and go down to the front desk and request another room on the same floor so I could take a shower and then put clothes back on and go back to my original room to finish getting ready. Oh, and in the room where I took my shower, the body wash container was empty. Lastly, there were crumbs or dirt of some kind on the carpet under and around the AC/heat unit in my original room. The two front desk people that I interacted with were friendly. The hotel is located in a quiet neighborhood. However, the walls are thin and I could hear conversation in the hallway or next room I am not for sure which. Luckily, it didn't last long and it wasn't occurring late at night affecting sleep. I would not stay here again.

Lock into the building was broken, so literally anyone could just walk into the building, so very unsafe. In our first room the water didn’t work in the kitchen or the shower. They gave us another room, which had a smoke detector that wouldn’t stop chirping. We asked them to fix it, and they do. Nothing for 4 hours, then when new staff came on shift they just switched our room again. This last room had a toilet that was broken, missing light fixtures, no tv remote, and a broken oven. We also had people on speakerphone phone calls in the hallway well after midnight and the entire building smelled like weed. Staff doesn’t care at all and the rooms are a mess. Will NEVER stay with this chain again.

I will say the staff was polite and friendly when we arrived. We were offered two separate rooms since the room we originally booked was not available. This was not a problem as we still had enough beds for everyone.

The concern here is the rooms were filthy. We were going to use the sleeper sofa in each of the rooms. However, both had stains on the mattress, crumbs and trash under the cushions and the mattresses when we pulled them out. There was mold all over the edge of the tub in the bathroom. The mirror in the bathroom had smudges of who knows what on it. The floors looked like they had not been vacuumed. To top it off the rooms had a smell to them. Kind of like that smell when the room used to be a smoking room and the hotel tried to clean/cover it up.

You dont have to offer me a breakfast, I don't need a gym, I dont need a pool. I do need to feel as though where my family is sleeping is clean. That is a basic necessity of anyone staying at a hotel these days.

Two stars just because the staff was pleasant.

These are new owners which may explain a few things. The hotel carpet was nasty, the elevator carpet was disgusting. I was on floor 2, and only stayed for work nearby for the early shift. The rooms are not cleaned properly at all. I wiped all down and you can tell by the rag I used. The young man who waited on me at lobby was nice. I will never stay here again and you can tell the type of people this place attracts as well due to the lack of good cleaning and maintenance upkeep of this hotel and it’s sad because the location surrounding areas are nice.

The overall standard of the hotel was unacceptably low. Most notably, ongoing construction required us to relocate rooms during our stay, causing significant inconvenience. The situation was uncomfortable enough that we considered checking out early. Furthermore, breakfast service was not provided.Some staff members were courteous, while others were quite unfriendly.

This was the worst stay I’ve ever had at a hotel! I normally don’t complain but I have to today! Upon entry the receptionist was rude, went to my room and the hallway was dirty, smelly and I felt unsafe. The entire hallway was littered with trash. My key didn’t work so I went back to front desk and he gave me another room with an even bigger attitude ! It was filthy! Food in fridge, beer case in kitchen, parties next door till 1am, both bed tables were dirty, hair all over the ceiling in the bathroom. I got no sleep on one of the biggest mornings of my life. Extremely disappointed!

The place was filthy with mess on the carpets, dirt on the walls, and stuff smeared on the doors. The baseboards have fallen off the walls and never been replaced or redecorated. There were no services offered during our entire stay. The reception area was cramped and dark, with a tiny "Enter" sign marking it in the parking lot. The security of the place is terrible. There is meant to be a two-door system with key cards required at both doors. However, each day of our stay, there was a block propping open the main door so that anyone could enter the building. This meant the only protection during our stay was the suite door, which clearly hadn't been replaced in a long time and had a very basic lock. The doors are not slow-closing doors, and the walls are thin, which means that you can hear every time a door is closed throughout the day and night. Inside the suite, there was expired food in the cupboards and dirty carpets. Again, the baseboards were missing in the bathroom, and there were hairs in the drains. There was no shampoo or conditioner supplied in the shower, and only 1/2 a roll of toilet paper in the suite. The room description stated it had a queen-size bed, but it was only a little bigger than a single bed. The outlets beside the bed buzzed if anything was plugged in. At night, there were overwhelming smells from very pungent dinners being prepared and music being blasted. The only positives were that the heat worked well and the suite was a good size.

The suite was very nice and clean. The cable was a bit glitchy but that’s nitpicking. I did have an issue with both my keys constantly demagnetizing though. Had to go to the front desk because I was locked out at least 11/12 times. But the lady at the front desk was very nice and apologetic. In fact all the staff was friendly, courteous and talkative. Will be returning next year.

I like the idea of the small kitchen for almost a week stay, however would do without for a nicer / cleaner facility

Hallways had not been vacuumed for some time, strong odor of marijuana in hallway, overall shabby and dirty appearing. Bathroom had a literal urine stain in front of toilet and rest of floor had visible dirt. Pullout couch cushions had covers due to dirt and deterioration. Carpets in room similarly dirty and again overall shabby and outdated. "Suite" had kitchen appliances which we did not use, had knives but no forks and on requesting some from desk were told to ask the neighbors. I asked about switching rooms initially when I saw the bathroom, no other rooms available and had already paid through expedia so no "refund" available. Asked that they clean the room and they appeared to have partially cleaned the bathroom floor but it still did not look clean The worst hotel I've ever seen.

It was a great hotel when it was the Town Place Suites. Sonesta has turned this great property into a dump. From the dirty front door glass, stained lobby carpet, grime-stained elevator carpet, moldy bathroom, half put on couch cover and the food products left in the cabinets. Completely disappointed. This is my second and LAST stay at this Sonesta Suites. We stayed at the Troy location first and had a great experience. So we chose to stay at the Novi location in January 2025 with a satisfactory experience. It's definitely an older location but was clean. This stay 10/4‐10/6 ... I'm disgusted with the room 109. There's visible mold in the bathtub, the bathroom sink backs up while MISSING the stopper. The smoke detector has been ripped from the ceiling. And the carpet is dirty and WET. I believe the air conditioner is leaking as the carpet has been consistently moist. Oh and the smell! I don't know if someone cooked in our room or down the hall, but the room reeks of curry.
The dishwasher didn't work properly either! Not one dish clean, stains baked on now.
I will never recommend this place to any one.

I will say the beds were comfortable and the sheets were soft and clean! However the rest of it was Filthy! I actually scrubbed all the surfaces before my family arrived. My adult children and significant others were coming for a family weekend and Lions game. The smell was awful! I ran to Walmart and purchased cleaning supplies and room fresheners. I had two (two bedroom) suites. There was only one tiny trash can per suite. The bathroom shower was out of conditioner. One bathroom looked like someone was shooting up. Blood splatters on the wall.
The staff was very nice! I’m sure they need more help. My family had a great time as the space of the rooms were great! The hotel was booked so asking for a new room was not possible. I prepaid on Expedia so I didn’t ask at the front desk for a discounted rate. We made the best of it. Mostly we were happy to have a place that had the space we were looking for.

Vessi (the friendly eastern european woman) At the front desk was amazing! Super friendly, funny, and extremely helpful. She is the main reason the review was so positive.

Upon walking into the building I was in, there was an immediate smell that was noticed. A mixture of hard water and canine/feline urine overwhelmed the nostrils. However, upon entering my room, I was delighted to find it clean and tidy with a stove (although the oven was FILTHY), microwave, and good sized fridge.

Apart from the woman who abandoned her 4 year old two rooms down from me (who cried and cried and cried until I came out from my room and consoled him, understandably of course), the property was mostly quiet and relaxing.

For the price I paid, I was fairly pleased overall.

There was a dirty towel on the floor at the front door of my room and an insect inside the fridge.
Interesting things about the kitchen: there’s a package to make coffee on the coffee maker, but there’s no coffee maker. There are pans and plates but no utensils. The toaster was all greasy.
The bathroom was fine and the bed was comfy.

I was very disappointed with my stay. The rooms were outdated, and the kitchen was practically unusable with very poor-quality pots and pans. Although the air conditioning worked, it leaked water all over the floor. The hallways had dirty carpets, which added to the overall unclean feeling.

While the price was low, the experience matched it — I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel.

I had never stayed at a Sonesta Suites before and I never will again. It was dirty, an inch of dust on all appliances, the stove door was broken and would not close, no soap in the dispensers, the love seat had a seat cover draped over it, no fitted sheet on the bed so the sheet kept coming off during sleep, and the carpets were so dirty I could not walk bare foot. Do not stay here!

Check in and check out was speedy and service was overall good. The price was very indicative of the experience. I stayed in building B. As soon as you walk in you smell the humidity and cigarettes. The couch in my room was awfully stained and made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. It was fine for a short stay just to sleep but I don’t know if I would be back/ if I would recommend for a long stay.

This Property Needs New Ownership

If you have never stayed here, do not believe the photos. This property is sadly neglected and should have a new owner. We smelled skunky weed smell pretty much all day every day, even when entering “the office”(with a poor attempt to cover up the weed smell with equally stinky room freshner). The place is filthy dirty. I will say that Adam at the front desk(evening shift?)was very helpful and the maintenance guy was also helpful with our shower issue. The beds are comfortable. But I would never stay there again

If you're traveling on a budget, this is an OK motel, nothing fancy. But the body soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers were empty (they don't seem to check regularly), the door from the parking lot into the building doesn't lock, creating possible theft and trespassing issues. Neighborhood looks pretty safe an location is very convenient for restaurants and shopping. Furniture is outdated,as was the couch but the beds were clean. The bathroom could use a minor upgrade - caulking was coming off.

The property was conveniently located near restaurants, shopping, expressways, and the Suburban Showplace.

The efficiency suite we paid for was disappointing. The oven door didn't close completely, rendering it unusable. There was only one small saucepan for cooking. Dishes for eating were 2 glasses, 2 cups, 2 plates, and 2 serving size bowls. There was only one (1) set of silverware so not sufficient for two people staying in the room. Further, there was no dish cloth, dish towel, dish soap, or dishwasher detergent. As a result the only thing usable in the kitchen was the microwave and refrigerator - things that could have been had in a standard hotel room.

We ended up requesting a refund and going to the Marriott nearby which was more expensive. They mentioned people come over all the time from that hotel. The staff was at least apologetic and tried to accommodate. The location was convenient and very nice.

the room was not clean. The kitchen sink didn"t drain properly. The tub needs replacement. The cups are not in good condition. The ironing table won't fold. The AC unit didn't work properly. The range was not cleaned properly, The coffee machine was not clean. The outside view from the 3rd floor room was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The bed sheet needs replacement. The whole building requires updates.

This facility is nice, affordable, clean, & the staff are courteous. There is PLENTY of shopping & restaurants for ALL tastes. The area is pleasant & is PET FRIENDLY! It would be nice if guests would clean up behind their pets ( those who don't); so many hotels are NOT PET FRIENDLY so, BE RESPECTFUL TO OTHERS & THE FACILTY
