This hotel could really improve with some easy changes. They only give you coffee in the room on your first day. That makes no sense!! They don’t replenish toilet paper, Kleenex or empty the trash when they make up your room. We had to ask for more toilet paper. The towels are thin and old and so are the bed linens. The chairs are stained. General maintenance isn’t addressed, throughout the hotel. Too bad because it could be a really charming hotel with minimal effort.

Centrally located next to a canal of Old Delft, we got a studio with a kitchenette which we used to fix breakfast. Very nice overall. We were in the annex 1 street over, so I can't comment about the main hotel.

Great place, hidden gem, central to EVERYTHING!

What a great stay we had! I was a little worried as this was a new place for us, and we have had some nightmare places to stay before on our travels, but we are happy to say that this was NOT one of them. We stayed in the little apartment, and everything was great. There was a little kitchen with everything that you would need... a private bathroom, a lounge room with a tv, a dining table where we all sat and played cards one night and a bedroom above that with lovely crisp clean sheets. It was nice being in central delft town Itself so it's a short walk to everything, just watch out for the bicycles! The gentleman who was at the desk was very friendly.Helpful.Spoke very good english and made us feel welcome. There was no bad odor in the apartment. As you would understand some places do have that bad odor but I am happy to report.There is no bad odor whatsoever. Would I stay there again absolutely? In fact, I i'm looking to book very soon. Thankyou.

We were in the top floor with a kitchen and a canal view. The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. However, it had no wifi - the manager said we could use the one in the lobby (which is in a different building) but it wasn’t great either. It was also extremely noisy every night until late. And the manager asked 5 euros to leave our bags in the lobby after check out (not even in a secure room). The kitchen had a few basic ustensiles but not nearly enough to cook a meal.

Dreadful!!!!

A very bad experience. Room poorly furnished and decoration had seen better days. Reminded us of hostel life. We decided to exit 1 day early and told our hosts to eliminate us from breakfast for 2 of the 3 days. They still charged us for all 3 days adding a supplement on day 1 of an additionak 80 Euros. This proved very poor value for money. We complained to reception, who would not listen to our issues and refused access to their management, further recusing to refund at least for the breakfasts we do have. There were other issues if cleanliness too. I will write formally to Hotels.com after leaving this critique

We had an attic room which required us to climb 3 narrow, twisting flights of stairs to get to. Once we got there, though, the room was quite large, clean, comfortable and quiet, with a good working air conditioner on a hot day. Just be careful to ask for a room on a lower floor if you have issues with stairs. The only other reason I have not give this hotel a top rating is that the breakfast was not as good as at other hotels, thought definitely good enough

We were three couples who stayed in an annex that included kitchenette for each apartment and a sitting area. It was perfect for our group. Breakfast was typical Dutch: coffee machine, fresh cheese and cold cuts, fresh breads. Be aware they have a short cancellation period.

Rooms are in different properties for this accommodation. We were able to book 3 couples in our own “house”, which was made up of single loft bed areas, sitting area on second floor, kitchenette and large bathroom on third floor. Worked out great for us because we had area in any unit to be able to congregate, play games, etc. Breakfast was “down the street” but it was good and staff was helpful and kind.

The staff at this property are terrible. The property is next to a college. The college kids party in streets all night. You can hear every step the upstairs neighbors take, ALL NIGHT! Staff would not give me a refund, even though they are fully aware of the college kids and upstairs neighbors. I still have not heard back from the manager who I had to email, that was 2.5 weeks ago. The Place is dirty and outdated.

It was superbly located close to the centre and convenient for everything. Perfectly comfortable but we had to take our recycling to a neighbouring bin. We also never quite managed to get shower gel, although plenty of body lotion was provided! But that was such a small matter and we loved our stay nevertheless.

Bad experience for me

Arrived a bit after 10pm at night after dinner so reception was already closed which was my fault - however I didn't realise the process if arriving after 10pm. I tried calling th reception number which was listed in case of emergency many times but no-one answered then finally looked at emails and found a separate email with the process. It didn't clearly specify that my room was in another building two roads down so I then spent 30min going up and down the narrow stairs of all the floors in the first building with my luggage. Some youngsters going up and down the stairs and felt a bit unsafe and dodgy but ok. After doing this twice, I sat at the dark reception and re-read all the emails realised it's in another building, walked there in the rain finally found my 'flat'. Very spacious but also very dated and the bathroom smelled of mould. Bed was ok comfortable but there was no drinkable water in the room and not sure the tap water was safe. I can't say it felt unclean but not my standard of clean either but maybe it was the old tiles and such. Breakfast in the morning was very basic only had coffee and scrambled egg. Breakfast staff were the only staff I saw and they were extra polite and smiley at least.

Beware of Room Choice

This is not a four star hotel. The room was really weird with a decommissioned kitchenette and ikea furniture. The 'carpet' was not secured down and had various pieces of the same carpet overlapping creating tripping hazards. The hotel has multiple properties and we were not allowed to stay in the main house where the breakfast is located. I would never stay here again. Additionally, our 'basic room' did not have the amenities promised on Hotels.com. The hotel said that was Hotels.com's fault and did nothing to accommodate us.

As mentioned in other reviews our room was actually in a different property to the hotel. A regular house near the hotel with four rooms over shops on the ground floor. For a 3 star hotel the room was disappointing and extremely basic. It reminded me of a cheapish student house room, which it probably had been until the hotel purchased it and little effort had been made to spruce it up, e.g. peeling walls and a very basic bathroom. The location is really its only selling point, and I believe it was rather overpriced.

Pros: The location is good (near train station), and the view is nice.

Cons: The hotel staff is horrible. A lady in the front desk cannot speak English well. They charged me one extra night simply because they miscalculated the number of nights I was gonna stay: They still use a hand calculator to do these kind of jobs! They promised me a correction to the charge in my credit card after two weeks of staying, but it did not happen. I have to ask Expedia (Thanks, Expedia customer service!) to call them since I am in the US and its an expensive international call. They promised to Expedia and ask for me contacting them directly and more evidence from me. Fine. I contacted them and provided evidences but they totally ignored me after I shot multiple emails to them. Then I had to ask Expedia to come in again. After three weeks, the refund was still not issued, but I was trapped in their endless requests (multiple times of requesting the same invoice, my bank account, etc.).

The room (including towels) did not seem to be cleaned daily. The layout is kind of strange: The bathroom is outside the room entrance.

The hotel is comprised of several townhouses, with various rooms for rent on the 1-3rd floors. We had booked a budget room which was advertised to include A/C and was silent on bathrooms. When we checked in we found that our room would have a shared bathroom in the hallway and the hotel’s version of A/C was to provide a fan. The room was large, even for North American standards. The hotel is a bit dated (old carpets and could use a coat of paint) but generally clean. We were able to upgrade to a comfort room which included a bathroom and kitchenette. Our room faced the street and wasn’t quiet. Overall not good value for price in my opinion.

The worst experience ever - be warned, stay away!

Our apartment was in another building from the main hotel, which wouldn’t have been a problem if our apartment was clean, comfortable and looked remotely like the pictures on the website. We were told to find the apartment building on our own, just given keys and a map, so for first time visitors to Holland, we weren’t impressed. The AC didn’t work, which was disappointing given it was very hot weather, there were no towels until we asked and when they were provided, they weren’t of the white fluffy nature seen on the website. Most of all the place was dirty, dingy and dusty and clearly hadn’t seen any form of cleaning for weeks. The fridge was filthy and had mould - see photos. We had requested a double bed, but instead got soft, spongy twin beds. We couldn’t stay there so rebooked somewhere else which was far better. To top it all, when we announced that we were leaving and asked for a refund, however small, we were flatly refused. Poor customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone even if it was the last place on earth. I could say more but I only have limited space. Awful place. Don’t go there.

Bad experience

This is my worst experience of my life related to a hotel booking: when I arrived at the hotel around 9 pm from overseas I was told coldly that there is no room available despite the fact that I was confirmed the room booking a long time ago. If you have no room, you must tell us much in advance as we did not cancel or change our mind to avoid your penalty. This action is very disappointing for such a hotel having a high review overall.

Wonderful friendly and helpful staff. Good location near station and town centre wih all the sights. Great restaurants on your doorstep. Rooms could do with a little freshening up paint wise. Stairs in Dutch houses all very steep so not suitable for people with movement issues.Beds very comfortable and all clean. Breakfast is plentiful and there are many coffee cafes about if you wish to breakfast elsewhere sitting next to a canal. A great experience for us and will return.

Great location, within walking distance to Delft train station. Enjoyed the breakfast. The room is large and pleasant. The experience could have been much better if the service was more personable. After check-in, we were given the direction to our room which is located on another side of the canal. Once we get there, we then realized that we had to haul our luggage to the third floor via narrow steep staircase. We were disappointed that no information was given, and other information such as WiFi was not in the room as we were told. No room service either during our two night stay. Other than that, the room was pleasant, and the breakfast was great. A little personal touch at this hotel would make it great !

The hotel was in a great location. Check-in was very relaxed and casual. After checking in, we walked the block to our apartment; not in the same building as the front desk. Our apartment was great and very spacious. It does need a good deep cleaning and some love on the maintenance. The room had a mildew smell and the walls were a bit dingy and dusty. Those are the only things I can complain about. You can walk out your apartment and there will be a market about 50 meters away, on weekends. There are many food options very close, I suggest Stads-Koffyhuis.

I stayed in one of the rooms on another street. While nice to have a little more space with a sofa and living room type set up the room was extremely uncomfortable. The air conditioner seemed insufficient to cool a room of this size even though an employee checked to see it was working correctly and the windows which were screen-less could not be opened because of mosquitoes. The mosquito warning was printed out and left for the guests. As a result the room was stiflingly hot, the bed was soft and uncomfortable and due to the mosquitoes already in the room I was bitten several times. The linens were in poor condition with holes and when I notified the front desk of this they said they would change but didn't. I have sent the manager separately photos to show this. Lastly while I was aware that this hotel did not have a lift it was unfortunate to get a room that had TWO flights of short steep stairs from the bedroom to the bathroom. You might want to check this in advance of booking the hotel.

Hotel is large and close to many of the best areas. Walk out the door on the weekend and you will find stalls of vendors just off to the side. Only complaint would be the stale smell in the room of mildew and dusty walls. Housekeeping needs to do a good scrubbing once in a while, not just a surface clean. There are so many good restaurants around the hotel. If you stay on a Sunday, utilize your kitchen and stock up on some breakfast goodies. Nothing opens until 1pm.

The room had no A/C and one open window had cracked glass and it was held up with small pice of wood which could not be removed to close or raise the window. Room was hot and the noise keepet us up all night. I found haire on my pillow case and bathroom floor.

Our room was up two steep twisty flights
two doors down from the main hotel
NO one helped with location or baggage
I was pointed to go outside to the room
Dirty dishes were left in the dishwasher and the floor needed a good vacuum. The towels were thin and frayed.

The room, near a major intersection was noisy until late at night. No one greeted you at the substandard breakfast of rubbery scrambled eggs and canned peaches along with dried bread products and days old cereal left in a container.
The cleanliness of the rooms need to be improved and the staff instructed in hospitality. This is a no frills hotel.

Best of both worlds

I booked an apartment, but still had breakfast at the hotel. Best of both worlds. The apartment was lovely, elegant and spacious. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and the breakfasts are very nice. The apartment was only just around the corner from Delft Market Square, and there were plenty of places to eat in the area if you did not want to cook.

Great choice in charming but convenient location

Really enjoyed The Bridges Hotel. In a quiet location on the Oude Deflt canal, yet less than 5-minute walk from train station, or in other direction from historic center and dining and shopping areas. Older building with stairs, not elevator, but more charm than chain hotels. (Stairs are narrower and steeper than traditional U.S. home, but not so much so as to be difficult to navigate, like a lot of Dutch buildings.) Our room, No. 11, had a very nice and spacious updated bathroom, plus a rooftop terrace with table and chairs out French doors (do they call them \"French doors\" in Holland?). The included breakfast, with eggs, bacon, etc., was in a sunny, attractive spot near entry. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. WiFi was strong and consistent during our 2-night stay. Lighting was more than adequate in both bathroom and bedroom.

We've only stayed once in Delft, but we're guessing it doesn't get any better than this in terms of location, comfort, and value for money. Giving it 5 stars based on that combination of features, although it's certainly not an elegant or opulent place. Our biggest complaint would be the two twin beds pushed together to make a double bed, which kept sliding apart, but that is typical for Europe and especially older properties where it's difficult or impossible to get large box springs up the stairs.

Warning: Look both ways for silent but speedy bicycles when you step out the front door, even if it's 2 a.m. or 7 a.m.!)

Touring from Delft

We stayed in one of the apartments, located a street away from the hotel. It was more spacious than we had expected and was adequately fitted out for self-catering, which we did on a number of occasions. The Wifi worked once we obtained the correct code for the apartment, having been given the hotel code on arrival. As a base to visit other towns in the south the location, close to transport, worked very well.

Very good except for dim lights

Overall great experience! :-) Stayed there 4 nights. Very friendly and helpful staff. Right from the start, a girl carried my extremely heavy bag up the steep stairs to second floor. I got a super spacious family room with a double + single beds, even though I was alone. Very grateful for that, because I had to spend much time working at the desk, and I could get up and walk around! It's a wonderful policy to give a larger room if available! The staff was also very accommodating at the breakfast, even for latecomers like myself (15 min before the closing) - made sure that I have all things that I could possibly want. Breakfast selection was not large, but good enough: my only wish would have been some veggy for the sandwich (there were none). On the good side, however, they said that you can have coffee throughout the day (eh, should have tried).

On a downside (my 5 stars are with a small reservation):
The condition of the hotel could be better. In the beginning the main lights in the room weren't working. I pointed out and a worker came and fixed it. However, the lights he put in were still very dim, and he didn't seem to be willing to do anything about it. So I spent my evenings in half darkness... :-(

We loved the location and the apartment we received instead of a single room.
the apartment is large and beautifully furnished. The canal view is beautiful. it was fun to watch bicycle rider going by and over the bridge. The city of Delft is super charming. We intended to stay one night but stayed 3 nights instead. It was difficult to leave the picturesque town and the nice hotel.

Stay for one night Dec 2015. We had a 'attic' room on the 3rd floor, very clean & nice room, no lift, and steep stairs, so not ideal for elderly. No 'in room' tea/coffee', but drinks available from machine in reception, good selections for breakfast. Very helpful staff. Location could not be better for visiting Deflt (without a car) around 200 meters from station (trains straight to Amsterdam/airport), and 200 meters to the central square. Apparently the hotel is in a former house of the Dutch artist Jan Steen, although I guess that it has changed quite a bit since the 17th century, when he lived here!

Good studio in Delft

The hotel has standard rooms and studio apartments, and our stay was in one of the latter. The studio boasted three levels, entry through the front door into the kitchen with bathroom off of it, up to the lounge, then up again into the bedroom, all without any further doors. Once we mastered the heating controls, it was warm (outside was unseasonably cold). The amount of space was considerable. The hotel had excellent wifi, which never let us down for the entire stay. The kitchen had a hob and microwave oven, dishwasher and cupboard space for all the groceries. Delft is a great place to stay, but as it is a university city the student life was most apparent, but once inside we were left in peace.

Great experience in the heart of Delft

I stayed in a suite. This was interesting as the suite was actually in a different building and street from the main hotel (only a minute away, across the road and a canal). It was a fully functional apartment with stove, fridge, washer and dryer....all the conveniences of home; I could not check in early as they were thoroughly cleaning the room before I took over (I would rather have a clean room than check in early/they did keep my luggage until the room was ready). It is right in the heart of downtown, so if you are visiting Delft, it is a great location. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Good WiFi (included). Good breakfast buffet (not included, but a very good deal at 5 Euro). My only complaint was that on my last night (Saturday night) it was very noisy with lots of people on the streets until at past 6 am (this may also be due to the fact that there are numerous late night shawarma shops nearby on a cross-street). However, it was a week before Xmas, so perhaps this is not normal (and it was quiet on Thurs and Fri night). I would definitely stay there again.

Pity, but the bad outweighed the good

Initially booked in to a suite in an annex - terrible smell of sewerage in the entrance hall that wafted into the room. Requested an alternative room & was told none available. One suddenly became available when I informed them that I would be posting my comments on the Internet.

Wifi in the main hotel was so bad that I was not even able to properly download email to conduct business - very frustrating.

Otherwise, rooms were clean & well appointed with nice bathrooms - but no king beds even though booked as such Grr. Breakfasts were also good.

Characterful Hotel

Feel one is staying in a building typical of Delft central area with canal directly outside.

Need to be fit enough to climb the rather narrow steep stairs to rooms, but that is part of the character!

I can't recommend this hotel

We had very poor service from this hotel. We booked July 7th and upon receiving our confirmation we discovered that the hotel closed at 22.00, a time which would be impossible for us to arrive before. We immediately contacted the hotel to request they stay an hour later, but they refused to stay beyond 1/2 an hour. We requested a cancellation in that case, and explained that we had made the reservation only a few minutes ago, but they stated they have a no-cancellation policy. Stymied, we made arrangements to arrive within the constraints and emailed them that we would in fact make it before closing. They sent an email stating \"they would see us tonight\". Upon arrival, they informed us they had cancelled our reservation. After a bit of back and forth they admitted to mishandling our reservation and made arrangements for us to stay at \"their sister hotel\". They provided directions which were a number of city blocks off of reality, and in a driving rainstorm we hauled our bags around Delft until we were able to get some kind locals to direct us to the \"sister hotel\", which of course isn't in fact a sister hotel. This hotel's manner and competency leaves quite a lot to be desired. We can, however, recommend the Hotel Johannes Vermeer. Much cleaner, much more inviting, and with a delightful staff.

Hotel is very close to all attractions.

In the apartments the WFI does not always connect. But you can go to the office and will have no problem with connecting to WFI The breakfast was very good and the service as well.

Excellent hotel except noisy in early hours

This hotel has everything you would wish. Nice room, great breakfast, wonderful staff and close to town.
Unfortunately the streets are very noisy in the early hours of the morning due to the nite club down the road.
we could not sleep very well. We were on the first floor with a lvely view of the canals.

room few blocks away in another house :(

when we checked in, lady told us that the room is in another house :( we had to walk with the suitcases in streets to get there :( and then we realised the room is under the roof of a narrow house, stairs were dangerous:(

water was cold and at night I was freezing :(

No, I wouldnot stay here again :(

Cozy and excellent service in perfect location

It was my second stay in bridges house and this time it was even better than the last time. I think for the price you pay the service is excellent, everyone is very friendly and helpful.
I chose it in the first place because of location, close to central station but still in the beautiful old part of Delft. And I was not disappointed. Everything is in walking distance.

The breakfast is amazing with all one could wish for in a breakfast. Eggs and bacon are made freshly for you. They could improve the coffee though.

The rooms have a good size, VERY comfortable beds and nice, modern bathrooms. I like that they used more individual furniture and not just the average hotel stuff.

Only 4 of 5 because some comfort (like a minibar) is missing and if you get the wrong room you have to walk quite some narrow stairs.

The studio is 2 mins away from the hotel itself and is really spacious and convenient. Friday night is a small problem though since noise in the street does not stop till 3am. Highly recommended.

Fantastic small hotel

Great location near the square, obviously have to park in the local car park, once unloaded, but forget your car and enjoy Delft. The hotel is beautiful, with large character filled rooms. Service is excellent and breakfast very good. Only drawback is the old style, very steep stairs, but worth it.

Good Hotel, but check out so you get what you book

This is a great hotel at a great location. The only downside for me is that this is the second time I stay here, and the second time that I dont get what I thought I booked. The first time we booked a studio, and instead got placed in double room, the second time I booked a king-size bed studio, but got two queen-size beds (on wheels) put togheter. The beds were not stable at all. Which made the sleeping expereince less good, than in a kingsize. Both these things would have been OK if I would have known it before. But now they came as bad surprises both of the times. The staff also both times seems totally unaware of what has been booked as as they dont see it in the system.

Definitely a mixed bag. My confirmation from hotels.com stated \"Luxury Studio, 1 King Bed\". Pluses included 1. a large rather sparsely furnished room 2. Opening indow at rooftop height with pleasant view of the towers of the churches [and sounds of the church clock bells and carrillon] 3. Room had a kitchen with fridge, stove etc 4. Decent TV.The things I was not keen on 1. Arrived at the hotel by taxi only when I checked in was I told I was in a separate building - had to drag my luggage 250 yards or so on the cobbles to the apt building 2. room serviced once a week [which meant not at all in the 4 nights I stayed, except once to provide clean towels] 3. Isolated feeling away from the main building 4. Restaurants and nightclub located directly below my room - they never were particularly noisy but I suspect could be so at weekends.

Decent-good value

Not bad. The studio was a 3rd floor walk-up, around the corner and down an alley from the main hotel entrance. Very clean. Comfortable beds. The kitchenette was not well stocked or furnished. Obviously decorated and arranged by a man. Convenient to restaurants and the sights. Stayed 3 nights in January 2014. Two 55+ adults.

Studio was not in Hotel

We booked studio as only rooms available , we were not advised until we arrived it was not in Hotel but some 400m away on the only street in Delft with night clubs that played loud music beyond 3 in the morning. There was no way of contacting Hotel from apartment apart from a very expensive number or walking to Hotel. The other rooms in the block were not Hotel rooms and some appeared to be let to students we reported a number of problems but only 1 was dealt with during our stay

It is a guest house not a hotel, no phone or lift at the hotel. No service at night time. Had an incident with one employee at breakfast which was not friendly and was not professionally dealt with.

Great spot close to main square

What a great hotel. We stayed here a year and a half ago and it has only gotten better with the new owners. The whole place has been renovated and is a real hidden gem, close to all the places you want to walk to. Parking is about a block away but is convenient.

Couldn't have been happier with the accommodation!

We were only in Delft for two days and one night found Hotel Bridges House an excellent choice. It is very convenient to the attractions - just one road over from the canal boat trip start and finish stop. So clean, so helpful, really tastefully decorated. Wouldn't hesitate in staying there again nor recommending it to my best friend. Well done Bridges House Hotel.

Great Place Except for the Noise

I rented two apartments for two extended stays; one for a week and the other for a month. The Hotel staff is great. The Breakfast they offer is the best deal in town. The prices of the Hotel are reasonable and fair. The location is great except for a set of apartments facing De Kromme street. The apartment on De Kromme is decent but very under stocked in terms of utensils, cooking and cleaning materials. The problem however, is that the location of the apartments on De Kromme are above five nightclubs. Every weekend a band of about 50 youths stand outside the window drunk and basically screaming. They go in and out of the bars, but basically a large group of them just hang on the street. THEY ARE LOUD! On weekend nights sleep is impossible before 5 a.m. The noise made it impossible to enjoy the apartment or get good sleep. Unfortunately, all the other apartments were booked so Hotel could not offer me a quiet room. Outside of this problem the Hotel is absolutely fantastic.
