A very decent Hotel.

The hotel is fine in every aspect apart from the squeaky heating pump! It's in quite an industrial/office area but the 17 tram (about 150 meters away) will take you right into Rijswijk and Central Dern Haag.
Probably the best hotel bed I have ever slept in.
The staff at Bastion are very friendly and helpful!

When I booked online I payed for a deluxe room when we checked in to the room and viewed the room (room 415) it was not as the same as the picture online. We was givien a standard room when I never payed for a standard rooms.
The light bulb next to the bed was not working and also broken..
it was kind of disappointing the workers was alright but the room was not as promised and I wouldn’t recommend it for the on going future.

The room was very noisy ,it sounds like a fan working on the top of your head ,and the next day the alarm gone of at 2.30 in the night time ,so I stayed 2 night ,it was a nightmare,although I have spoken to the receptionist.

Room smelled of cigarette smoke. Chair was too dirty (stained) to sit on. Open shower got everything wet. Towel racks at 6 ft-plus height, only helpful for tall people. No desk space to work at. Tiny TV. Bathroom freezing cold.
On plus side: good breakfast, friendly staff, gated parking.

This is perhaps a 2 star hotel. Staff were very good and friendly. We were not made aware that the restaurant was closed Friday thru Sunday. I wanted to do a fun night with my 84 year old sister. This really did not make the experience fun. Closed restaurant was almost 3/4 of a meter away difficult for a person using a walker.

Priced well, especially realizing how centrally located you are in the \"Randstad\".
Conveniently located to the center of Den Haag and in easy reach via the highway to the cities Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
To make the stay even better; provide a larger safe and bold it down!

The service was alright but getting to the reception desk was the first hurdle. Before reaching the entrance you had to climb eight stairs, with luggage, and nothing to hold on to. On the way to the room you had to go through three small doors before getting to your room. These were banging all the time until about 11:00 pm. In the room there were two small single beds with covers that were too short for the bed, two chairs, a desk, a fridge, a bed table without alarm clock, and a television that did not work. There was a small bathroom with a toilet that is difficult to use when you are bigger in size than average. The face cloths were missing. For one night it will be fine if your demands are not too high.

Secured parking, clean room, great in room coffee. Wonderful walk in shower.

Downside; put a nice chilled bottle of wine in the refrigerator, turned up the cool, only to find out it wasn't plugged in. One would need to move the fridge to actually plug it in. Not happy to lose the wine. Other than that I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

The rooms did not reflect the actual hotel rooms. There was no little table to put a drink on. There was 1 chair. Bathroom had 1 towel per person. No washcloths at all, bed and room was cold enough that we had to request a extra blanket. The heater kept shutting off and as far as location....NOT GOOD.

Absolutely enjoyed everything especially the reception staff were so helpful and friendly.
Only one thing that ruined our stay was the €50 + breakfast bill when checking out, for two breakfasts on the Saturday morning was very expensive, if we had known the price we would have gone somewhere else for breakfast, a part from this I would highly recommend Bastian Hotels. 👍👍

Hotels's lounge is nice and modern and at first sight it seems like a nice place to stay. Very close to the highway and close to The Hague and other attractions as well as business centers.
The staff was very friendly.
However, there are areas which could be cleaner. The hallways and elevator looked a little unkept and smelled of cigarette smoke. The room seemed tidy but the bathroom smelled like pee. We called to get it clean and they came, but the smell still lingered, it is obvious that the urine had permeated through the bathroom tiles.

I arrived with my wife to be told that the hotel has no double beds, not a single one. I have never experienced anything like that before.

It appears that the housekeeper's vacuum cleaners don't work. There is a lot of dust and dirt in public areas. In the room, the coffee mugs were filthy. Sticky on the outside. When I took them to reception to be replaced, the receptionist just took them and said she would get clean ones
No apology for providing dirty kit, or for me having to go down to change them.

Overall, a disappointment. I will certainly stay clear.

Very helpful staff. Hotel itself is a bit dated, but rooms appear to have had a low-key refresh. Very good shower! Bus 51 and tram 17 nearby take you to the centre of The Hague. It is also located just off the A4 highway. Ideal for visiting with a car!

Nice hotel. We were able to check-in early and very friendly and helpful people at the reception desk. Appreciated secure on-site parking. Was close to tram stop that took us to city centre in under 20 minutes and easy access to A4. Bed was soft and not as comfortable as we had experienced in other hotels on our trip. We did not have breakfast as price of 14 Euros seemed expensive but noticed they had an omelet station so it may have been worth it. We opted to walk a few blocks down to McDonalds one morning and picked up a few items from the supermarket for another day as there was a fridge in the room. Liked having a kettle as we are tea, not coffee drinkers.

Upon arrival with my two young children, we were abandoned in the hotel lobby for 7 hours and even disrespected by one transition manager who arrogantly asked us to sleep in the lobby. My son was tasty and needed water and I was asked to pay £5 which I turned down.

The only one person who was supportive through out our nightmare was an assistant manager Diana who did all she could to support us.

Good Value, just let down by a few things

There's not much around the immediate area of the hotel. But I found it conveniently located due to it being near a main road, just down the road from the number 17 tram (which goes to Den Haag HS) and a little bit further from Rijswijk station.

Cleaning service was inconsistent (e.g. sometimes the mugs disappeared although they replaced the coffee, sometimes towels on floor just put back over sink). I paid the city tax on check-in and then was asked to pay it on check-out (when I said I'd paid on check-in I'd asked if I had a receipt, which they hadn't given me!). Was fine in the end, but a better system should prevent this.

Acceptable standard apart from poor Wi-Fi + the hotel was clearly understaffed. The receptionist had to also make us our lunch which impacted on time it took to prepare food and (I assume) the quality of food, which was at a barely acceptable level.

Meeting a need

We needed a hotel for one night close to the motorway system so that we could make various visits in the area of Leiden and The Hague. This comfortable hotel provided what we needed at a reasonable price. Our room was spacious enough and it was good to be able to make tea and coffee there. We were given a free beer at the bar in the evening which was a good wind-down at the end of a busy day.

I was disappointed that the rate I thought I'd booked online (€104) ended up being €133. Check-in took ages and ages. Too long.
Service in the restaurant was very poor. Not enough staff, so those that were on duty seemed to actively avoid eye contact, so as not to take my order.
I was however rescued by a very helpful waitress finally. She restored my confidence and could not have been more helpful.

Easy check-in, we arrived around 10AM but the receptionist was very kind to let us check in early. The room was modern, comfortable. The bathroom was newly refurbished and looking spotless. We weren't expecting much given the fact that we have seen hotels that were more expensive and in a worse state. Parking was free and we had free wifi which was a bonus. We were very pleased with our stay and cannot fault this hotel and its staff in any way.

Nice modern Dutch hotel. Friendly stuff, decent facilities, nice room and bathroom and very clean. Even if it's next to the highway it's very very silent due to the 2 double glazed windows. We slept like babies.
Just 10-15 to the city center by car. Handy for a short period.

Stay marred by stupid staff or accounting error

A curate's egg. That is to say, 'parts of it are excellent', yet the whole thing was spoiled by one flaw.

On check-out, I was told I had 14 Euros to pay for breakfast. I hadn't taken breakfast; I hadn't wanted breakfast; I hadn't booked breakfast. The staff at check-in had confirmed that my account was fully paid before I went up to my room, including the municipal tourist tax which I paid then in cash.

It would seem that the hotel has some kind of 'inertial billing' in place, but I had declined breakfast at check-in and was not told I would be charged whether I took it or not. When I told staff at check-out that I had not taken breakfast, that was an end of it. So, why set up their charging system in a way which seems almost deliberately, and is quite certain, to offend?

For the price, this was a perfectly pleasing hotel and there IS attention paid to guests. I made a minor complaint about the attitude of a staff member and got an immediate apology and fresh flowers in my room - showing attention to guests and which is why I have gone ahead and given an overall \"4\" rating for staff. QUIET place, which for me is crucial as I am travelling on business. Tram only a 4-minute walk away, SAFE CLEAN neighbourhood; WILL be staying there in the future.
