We stayed in the junior suite for 4 nights with our bernese mountaindog. The room was very spacious and nice, and had a small kitchen as well as a huge bathroom. Stairs were narrow and steep, but our 6 years old dog could manage them. Overall a very pleasant stay, really close to the center and the central station.

Very unpleasant check in experience. Incompetent member of staff on reception with little to no knowledge of the hotel and demanded a deposit payment - despite the booking stating only tourist tax would be required at the property. I am a solo female traveller who was travelling on business, checking in late in the evening and really didn’t appreciate the way I was spoken to, the fact I had already paid for the room in full but was refused the room key until I handed over a deposit payment that wasn’t specified on my booking clearly - and to add to this, the lady on reception had no knowledge of how this deposit can be refunded if you did not own a credit card or an EU bank account (I was travelling from UK and only had a virtual company credit card with me.. which they refused to use for the deposit - despite this same card being the one used to pay for the room itself). I was very upset and stressed by the experience until management was available the next day to speak to and resolve the issue.

The room was comfortable enough for a very short stay, but I would not stop here again and urge solo travellers to avoid this hotel. The room has no sound proofing it was incredibly noisy the entire time, banging from the room above, noise from outside the window etc, sounds of water running through pipework from neighbouring bathrooms. The bathroom had an awful smell coming from it, and during breakfast hours the entire hotel and my own room smelt of cooked food e.g. bacon/smoke.

Handy for the city centre, but noisy

Excellent staff, well placed for a short walk to the city centre. Unfortunately, as it is a short walk from the city centre it is very noisy at night. We were woken each night after 1am. Breakfast is excellent, unless you get a coach party in, like we did, we just couldn't get seated one morning. Did we enjoy it, yes. Would we come back, probably not.

One tip for others, I was placed in the \"Annex\" which is down the street a few blocks from the main hotel. Not a huge problem for me, but something to mention - a bit of walking to breakfast. Breakfast was well worth the price! Had fun renting a bike as well

The accommodations were not in the hotel but in an annex which was supposed to be a 2 minute walk from the hotel. That 2 minute walk was more like 10 minutes. I had a suite but it was on the third floor and no elevator but 40 very dangerous winding steps, which I could handle but not getting two suitcases up and down. The hotel does not provide any help so I had to take the two carry ons up myself (very very difficult) if you are in your 80's. Now the unit was supposed to have air conditioning. That did not work and on the last day of my 5 day stay the suite was 85 degrees. When I opened the windows for air, the noise level was terrible and the hotel did warn me about the noise and provided two sets of ear plugs which were in the suite on arrival. The staff at the hotel close to two blocks away were very nice, but the annex suites detracted from the overall experience.

Room small but comfortable, especially the bed. Problem with the radiator, which did not always come on. A portable heater was provided, but this was less efficient and a bit noisy. Heating system probably needs a fix.

Great hotel in historic building. Check in was easy, staff incredibly friendly, room very clean. Looks like there has been recent refresh in bathroom and bedroom. Portable A/C worked great. Bed and pillows comfortable. Earplugs are provided due to outside noise but they aren’t the “strongest” ones available. Be sure to ask for ground floor if stairs are a problem as there’s no elevator. Very convenient to train station and town. Highly recommended and would definitely return.

Room 1 has crazy wiring for lights. It took us forever to turn on just the bathroom light.
Bathroom is very tiny. Get the upgraded rooms, the base one offered is too small.

The location is perfect. Close to the train station like a min walk but you dont hear the train at all. Close to all shops and walkable everywhere. Right on the canal so some noise during the day but we were kostly gone. Hot and no air cond. In the summer it would be very hot. Service is not great. They have little knowledge of the town if any. We had to remind them of the perk, then they forgot and give us one bag of chips in compensation. They emailed us later to tell us that we owed bottles of water when we had none. Lovely lounge tho. Breakfast seemed nice but we had a nicer and cheaper one in old town. Also the noise from upstair cleaning in the morning because the walls are not well insonorised. They actually provide earplugs.

Lovely simple, clean hotel in ideal spot in town. Super comfy bed. The staff we met were friendly. Good shower which is always a must in a hotel! Didnt have the breakfast as it was rather pricey plus we were there to see friends who live in town so had lots of other recommendations. It was rather lovely looking out directly on to a canal.
I thought the tea/coffee stuff was a bit mean spirited...only 2 coffee pods for free then you had to buy them...but quite a number of teabags?? Also only 2 creamer sachets...which werent replaced each day, neither were the little biscoffs...such a tiny thing but made a difference....

A Magical Night In Delft

We only stayed for one night but I wisht we had stayed longer. For someone who's in love with Bruges, Delft feels like a Bruges' identical twin.

Regarding the hotel - it was fantastic. The room was cute and clean with a canal view! The receptionists were really helpful giving us useful tips and preparing our breakfast in advance as we had to leave early the next day. They also gave us a discount to a 3 course menu at one of the local restaurants, which we ended up using and it was definitely worth it.

I'm hoping to come back to Delft next year and I will be searching for this hotel specifically for sure.

My room was on the ground floor, which I normally don’t like. But when the canal is right outside the room, you know you are in The Netherlands.

Quaint, small hotel central to all the main market area of Delft. Royal Delft is a quick 15 min walk. The staff were great - checkin and out were a breeze. The bathroom was tiny. The room was ample. Bed was great. Only issue was the noise. We could hear our upstairs neighbor stomping the floor, our next door neighbor chatting and being active. And the street noise was unbearable until about 4 am. We only heard it because we like to sleep with our windows open for the cool air. At 4 we had enough and closed them and then the noise wasn’t so bad. But it’s to be expected in the business core in a college town. We loved our stay overall and would stay here again. Especially for the price - under €100. We normally try to pick 4 star and higher properties but we were traveling with our dog and this place was the only centrally located, walkable, pet friendly, non-chain hotel we could find. It was perfect.

Tap was a bit loose in bathroom and maybe would be nice to have shower screen rather than curtain. A bottle of water is always appreciated and a few small noises from adjacent rooms like coat rails and ventilation systems could be heard in the room but not major.

The hotel was clean and well-maintained and conveniently located in Delft. My family had two rooms, only one of which had an air-conditioning unit. The bathrooms were tiny, with barely enough room to move. In one of the bathrooms, the toilet and sink were much too close together. The hotel did not provide morning coffee - only one Nespresso pod per person per stay. They will sell you additional Nespresso pods for 1 euro each.

Lovely hotel convenient for the station and the centre of Delft. Right on one of the canals and minutes from the historical centre. My room was very large and comfortable, a little outside noise at night but slept very well. Breakfast was good. Hotel is nice overall, clean, good service, GREAT location if you are traveling by train. Our room was nice, ground floor was right on the canal which was very neat. It’s and older building so your neighbors can make or break your stay. Bring ear plugs. We had very loud guest above our room... they walk around from about 11:30 to 12 just back and forth from the window to the bathroom. The water pipes are very loud so you can hear when the sink or shower is turned on and when the toilet is flushed. Then once they were final in bed the person snores so loud we could hear it clearly. It was difficult to sleep bespite the very comfy bed. Would stay again just hope for better neighbors and request not ground floor.

Our room (24) was quite, well let’s say, cozy. It did have everything we needed, and was certainly warm enough in November. The bathroom though is cramped. You have to do a little athletics to use the toilet and the handbasin. Shower was fine, with the water temperature being nice and warm. The lounge area upstairs was comfortable with hot and cold drinks and some biscuits and nuts available for snacking. I would definitely use the hotel again, it’s location is very good, being close to the Delft Station, and well within walking distance of the town highlights.

A short step from the Railway Station into History

Grand Canal Hotel is very conveniently placed in the Picturesque Old Town yet it is within 5 minutes walk of the Railway Station. It has been sympathetically converted from a Prison.
Rooms are a good size and comfortable with all the facilities you would expect. Staff are friendly and efficient.The only negative is the lack of a lift - we knew this before arriving but it is fair to say that in the process of conversion to a Hotel it was necessary to save space. This means that staircases are steep with narrow treads and corridors upstairs are tricky to manage unless you are very slim and not carrying a heavy suitcase.

Construction noise overshadows any positives

The hotel itself is very nice but there is construction going on - renovation of the hotel on the outside and in the area. The noise is deafening. I woke up early because of hammering and other construction noise. It was for all practical purposes impossible to stay in my hotel room during the day. As long as this goes on, I'd definitely advise you to book another hotel in Delft.

The building is over 350 years old, but the room we were in was modern and spacious. It was very clean. The lobby and mezzanine areas were a touch worn but still clean. No air conditioning but the windows opened wide and we had a great breeze. They also provided a fan in the room. Canal views. We didn't have breakfast. Parking is a challenge, the street parking nearby is for residents only. We parked in a garage about 500 meters away and it was reasonably priced. Hotel is very close to downtown. I would definitely stay there again!

Great location just a couple of blocks from the new Delft Centraal station. Big bathroom, with nice shower tub. Only downside is that the stairs are a little steep up to the 2nd floor, so if you're not good with that you might want to look elsewhere. Nice tea/coffee/snacks in the mezzanine every night too.

Delft is a small town but charming.

We had time only one night (in the last week of Oct 2016 when is European Autumn) that was enough to impress the Delft town. The hotel is nearly all requirement of tourist such as train station, center of old town, a few perfect typical dutch and greek restuarant. It is perfact for non car tourist.

Comfortable bed, spacious room. Excellant breakfast, close to the Train Station and the Square where there are wonderful shops and restaurants. The de V restaurant is awesome.

Excellent hotel, very quiet

The hotel is quite convenient to the metro. The staff are all pleasant and helpful. I don't speak Dutch, but the staff spoke English quite well, so communication was not a problem. We ate at the restaurant once, and the food was very good. We spent most of our time touring sights in Amsterdam, and it was nice to have a quiet space to return to at night.

Canal-side hotel with small town feel

Affordable hotel in quaint older center of Delft just 5 minute walk to train station that has quick connections to Rotterdam. 10 min walk to town center, nice relaxing area. Lots of free candy at hotel reception desk perked me up too.

Nice hotel along the canal -

I found the hotel very easily, Close to the train station.

Beautiful view from the room. Comfortable bed and linens. Very clean.

Unfortunate that you can't make coffee in your room or even bring it to your room.
I could hear my neighbours.but I'm overly sensitive to noise and Believe others would probably not be disturbed.
