Terrible hotel. Do NOT stay here. They have not returned my deposit and every time I call the number is always busy. They said breakfast was until 9am. I came down at 8:40 and they already cleaned everything up. Lights barely worked, tv remote only worked when it was near the tv, faucet was separated from the sink, furniture scratched up, water in the shower dripped all night.
I should have asked them for a deposit because as bad as this hotel is they should NEVER charge a deposit

Worst I have ever been treated by a hotel ever!

When I went to check in they swiped my card then told me about $450 in fees they were going to charge me for the stay! A large deposit for myself then $150 a day for my pets. None of which was advertised on their listing with you! I chose not the pay these fees and told them I wasn’t going to stay there for all those fees and they refused to reimburse me for the room charge for 2 nights that was less than all the fees! Their manager stated that they would possibly reimburse in 3-5 working days but I have yet to get the funds. I bought insurance for this stay as well.

The location of this hotel is convenient and close to many key spots in Houston. The staff were kind, professional, and very accommodating which I truly appreciated. However, the overall condition of the rooms and property left a lot to be desired.

The rooms were disappointing: outdated appliances, several outlets didn’t work, and there were visible stains on the pillows and sheets. The worst part was discovering roaches in the room, which led us to request a room change but unfortunately, the new room wasn’t much better. Stains were still present, the AC barely worked, and there was mold in the bathroom.

Additionally, the elevator wasn’t working during our stay, which made things even more inconvenient.

This hotel could be a great place to stay if they invest in major renovations. For now, the condition of the property makes it hard to recommend.

Elevator not working, they put me on the 3rd floor , and it was 4 flights of stairs up.

Key stop working, and wanted me to walk 4 flights of stairs to get a new key. I told them I was not doing that, and someone did bring me a working key.

The ice machine on the 3rd floor was not working, so you had to walk to the 1st floor to get ice ( reminder elevator isn’t working)

No one EVER answers the front desk, but they are laughing and having fun. It’s like they turn the front desk phones to go to VM

The room phone only worked when it was on speaker

I will NEVER EVERT stay here again!

Terrible exp!

From beginning to end, the stay was disappointing. I booked 2 rooms for my family with a child, and here’s what happened:
1.One room was fine, but the second had no AC. We were moved to a smaller room, not what I paid for.
2.Two lights were broken, making the room very dark.
3.Bathroom door was nearly falling off—unsafe for kids.
4.Toilet was broken. I had to fix it temporarily myself.
5.Room key stopped working after 24 hours—had to rekey.
6.Ice machine was out of service.
7.Shampoo and shower gel came in a tiny plastic bag—very minimal.
8.Elevator broke on checkout day—only one in the hotel. We had to carry all luggage from the 3rd floor by stairs.
9.Staff response was simply: “Unfortunately.”

don’t waste your money

where do I start??
1. our room was missing a smoke detector (safety concern)
2. the water that came out of our sink was boiling hot - had to wash my face/brush my teeth in the tub (safety concern #2)
3. breakfast was not included as advertised
that was in the first room so then we got switched to another room but till not good..
4. the shower rod was coming off the wall!
5. the shower head was dirty and moldy!

Tv wouldn’t work, lady checked us in gave us a card for one day we stayed 3, of course found this out day two card wouldn’t work and IT had issues so we had to be let in our room the hallways were 100 degrees, we had a family of 4 I asked for towels for everyone kept getting just one, muffins and juice for breakfast is pretty low for the high ratings front desk was great with what they could do but the hotel as a whole I wouldn’t return too.

I paid $147 to stay here with my family while visiting from out of town, and we were really disappointed. There was no hot breakfast available for my child—just some fruit, even though the listing clearly states breakfast is included. The TV in our room didn’t work, and the pet fee was a shocking $150 per stay, even though it was listed online as $60 and used to be $25.

I understand ownership may have changed, but if that’s the case, the hotel seriously needs to update their website and listings so guests know what to expect. Between the misleading info and the poor amenities, we definitely won’t be coming back.

Over all I know it was rebranded but the tile in my bathroom floor was loose. We had no trash can in the room at all. They had no charging port for my phone. I can tell that they did some painting but didn’t Change the power socket it was a disgusting yellow along with the smoke detector. The lamp were all rusty. Also upon checking in the property smelled like mildew.

Bed bugs, disgusting property. Found dirty used wet towel inside the room fridge. My whole back and legs got red rash within 20 mins of lying down in the bed. Gym is broken and not a single machine works. Checked out of the property within 1 hour of check in. Shame on Sonesta brand for having such terrible property under their umbrella.

You get what you pay for

The hotel had an awesome daily rate and I see why. The property is in desperate need of renovation. They charge you a $100 deposit in case items are “taken” from the hotel room. My TV did not work. The clerk was unmotivated to do anything to address why my TV did not work and would not offer a discount on the room stay. It seems like p arty hotel since there was noise until 4 am and the place smells like weed. I would not stay at this location again.

No matter if you booked the hotel earlier, it will not guarantee you a room if you'll not be there during EXACT check in time even when we tried to call them and say we will be there at night — so hassle that we need to go there even when we are in the middle of convention.

The staff is not good in answering inquiries over the phone.

The room is nice, its spacious and clean but the toilet is clogged, aircon was not cold.

The room I was in was dirty. Has bugs and flies. The bathroom was not functional. The door key fob did not work. Have to tried tons of time and need to fo to the front desk asked them to activate the key card every time. Telling the staffs (all girl staffs) but did not do anything. So the next day I told the staff (the man who works here for a long time) and he changed my room. He was very nice. The other staffs weren't and not helpful at all. They don’t care about the customers at all. Do not like the staffs, except for the guy works at nights. Not recommended.

The worst experience I've ever had in this hotel. Dirty floors, wet carpets, bunk beds and the attention of the front dest is terrible. On the second day of my reservation they told me that the hotel was full and that I had to leave my room. The return of the money takes many days. The staff tried to help with the confusing 3rd party system but ultimately i had to call and figure it out. The pictures made the place seem new and modern, but there was this old and worn look to everything. Tv didnt work, lamp didnt work, lamp shade was dirty. We arrived and the elevator was closed. For a 60 year old and 74 year old that was terrible. When we went out the following day at noon I asked a maid if she was cleaning the room and she said the room wasn't on her list. I stopped at the front desk to ask that our room be cleaned (1pm). We came back after a long tiring day to an unmade bed, dirty towels on the floor and the only trash can still overflowing with trash. I went to the front desk and was told SORRY THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO. They gave me towels and TRASH BAGS so we could trow our own trash out. When we left and the elevator had a puddle of water.

Terrible experience, broken AC, freezing temp, broken water heater, no hot water on the building, cockroaches, ants coming up from crack by the AC into the room, elevator broken, no maintenance to fix the problem. Request to transfer to another room, where it took around an hour waiting on the loby, and still no hot water. Couldn't spend the night, and left the place arond 10pm. Found put that they charged me an extra $ 24.00 for stainin a multiple times used dirty towel, was cut out of my $100.00 safety diposit. Am really disaponted, and upset. Instead of showing curticy toward all ad srvices an give a discount or reimbarice my reasirvation for a night that I did not stay, they charged me. This is apsolot scam. I may lost some money and bad experiance, but they lost repetation, and what value would a person or a buseness worth without a good repetatin and good experiances with their clints! I will never go back to this property again!

The location was convenient, just off the freeway. Room was clean. Furniture was a little worn but looked newly remodeled. From the outside, there was no signage. Few cars in the lot and was unsure at first if it was open. Check-in was efficient. No breakfast (as others noted, so not a surprise) and $100 deposit required, refunded 3-5 days, for incidentals. Felt safe in the area and location. Pets are allowed and noticed a dog odor on/near couch. Dog barking down the hall when housekeeping came through. Overall, good value for the price. Would be better to have listing corrected instead of finding out the details second-hand.

Not great. The price was good. But the new owners clearly you’re not investing in the property lots of damage, broken tiles drywall that deeds patching.

Hairdryer not mounted, front desk didn’t care. Sink and tub didn’t drain.

There is a coffee machine provided with no cups when I asked the lady told me to use the flimsy plastic cups for water. I don’t think she understood the concept of heat.

I’ll stay elsewhere next time, so should you.

A Disappointing Stay

I recently stayed at the Sonesta Essential Houston Westchase from November 7th to 10th, 2023, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.

Upon check-in, I was assigned to room 323, which immediately presented a series of issues. The room had no hot water, damaged flooring that led to a minor injury, and a non-functional television. After notifying the front desk, I was eventually moved to room 311 the following day.

While the second room was an improvement, it still fell short of expectations. The water temperature remained consistently low, and the room was not adequately cleaned, with items left behind by previous guests. Additionally, a detached fire alarm posed a significant safety hazard.

The guest services staff was generally kind, but the physical condition of the rooms and the lack of timely resolution to the issues were unacceptable. I would strongly advise potential guests to consider other accommodations in the area.

I requested that the property manager reach out to me directly to discuss potential compensation for the inconveniences and discomfort experienced during my stay. Unfortunately, after contacting Sonesta directly, I was informed that no discount or partial refund would be provided.

I spent two days at the hotel, my room was never cleaned and in the bathroom, there weren't no body soap or body lotion in the room. I requested for body soap, I was giving the smallest body soap I have ever seen in my life.
