We stayed in the 2 bedroom family suite as a family of 5. There was 3 towels, 3 forks, 3 knives and 3 non matching bowls to share. Furniture needs upholstery cleaning. The bathroom sink did not drain very well. But, the sheets were clean and we got fresh towels everyday. We enjoyed watching the bunnies hopping past at night!

Booked a room that stated it had 2 Queen beds however it only had 2 double beds. I checked with the man in reception who was not very friendly and probably in the wrong job and was told that was the right room. Beds were 138cm wide so definitely just standard double beds. Our room was up some rickety old stairs that I wasn't sure were going to be there in the morning. The whole place is in desperate need of a makeover as everything is just old and rundown. If you stay here and want to relax and watch some TV make sure you bring some DVDs. The TV is just a cheap Kogan model and is not a smart TV so you can't watch any streaming services.

My stay was fine. I picked the room as I needed a table to work on. The room description and pics advised I'd get that. I didnt. The Do Not Disturb sign on the door was ignored to drop off towels. I was trying to take a nap at the time, so having someone knock three times to get my attention was frustrating. Property has good parking and is spread out enough to not hear too much noise from other guests. Reception was always in attendance when I went in, and I was able to add another night's stay easily.

Eltham Gateway is quite a big complex. I think it must have become quite rundown but the current owners seem to be doing renovations and upgrading. The rooms are large and beds are comfortable. Great hot water. More thought needs to be put into what is provided in the room eg 1 teaspoon, a hotplate but no cookware etc. The electrical appliances were, I think Chinese, but we were able to work things out. Some light and the aircon switches were in reverse...so if aircon appears not to work just turn the switch off. Our curtain was also not working properly but someone came promptly to fix it. The complex is on a couple of levels and has such potential. It looks like a lot of upgrades are being done cheaply but I can understand the upgrades would be costly. We were in the area for a funeral and the hotel met our needs for shops, cafes and venue. Overall our stay was comfortable and quiet, lovely hot water, and great aircon for the heatwave.

This review is aimed at feedback to the hotel. When we arrived at our room there was a ceramic bowl with ash and at least 6 cigarette butts inside. I washed my hands in the kitchen and touched some staining around the cupboard handles. Expecting it to be stain, which is fine, but it was grime from previous people. Having a 2 pillow option would be good. Light in bathroom very dim. Overall the grime and cigarette butts gave an uncomfortable vibe of poor cleanliness. Bed was comfortable.

For how much you pay per night, you would expect the rooms to be modern and updated, not something from the 1960’s. The stairs leading up to the room, felt like I was going to fall through them and the maintenance of the facilities could be done really nice to make the place look better

Toilet fills to the brim while you use it
The whole room felt grotty fingerprints stains every where

Wall paper peeling off blood on the wall on 1 side of the bed we felt unsafe couldnt wait for thw sun to come up so we could go

Room was clean. We only got 3 towels for 4 people. Not happy. Check in desk was unmanned at check in time. Had to call mobile number to get someone to attend. Good car parking, easy to find room as you get shown a map. Only one pillow per person, probably should be two. Needs to have ice cube trays if needed. Nice hot showers. Ample cupboard space in rooms and bathroom. Windows did not open so couldn’t get any fresh air. Check out was easy just drop room keys into slot and go.

I booked this hotel for my mother-in law…big mistake

Do not book this hotel. The rooms are beyond dirty, mould in bathroom, a toilet seat that was so old and scratched it was hard to sit on. The light switches were broken and sometimes worked

Several other wedding guest stayed there and their rooms were worse. Power points hanging out of the walls. The place is dangerous.

The property also houses people that have come out of prision paid directly by the goverment

We arrived at 9pm after driving from Adelaide.I had called the night before to say that was when we would arrive . No one at reception, we called the number, and the man actually sighed and groaned when I said we were there.
We were shown an aerial view of how to get to our room.
We had to carry suitcases up 2 levels of outside stone steps ( not lit) walk along an unlit outside dirt path to 2 flights of wooden steps.
They were well lit and had a good hand rail but the rest was difficult and dangerous.
When we arrived there was a cockroach on the bed and what appeared to be mouse excrement on the chair.
The bathroom had mould and the light did not work above the mirror.
We were too tired to complain and went to sleep.
The next day no food was available and so we had to drive to find breakfast.
We had come for a wedding and called to request more towels. The man on reception did not want to give them to us ; he argued 2 people only 2 towels but finally gave in.
The towels did arrive promptly.
We were staying in a spa suite.
The next night there was a huge huntsman on the curtains. So BYO insect killer.
There’s a lot of noise from neighbouring rooms:
Shower / walking etc.
I did not feel comfortable sitting on the furniture or sleeping in the bed.
Luckily, we had brought our own pillows so something was clean.

I checked in Bert late in the evening and it was quick and easy.
The room was very spacious but had a water leak near the front door so there was a dripping sound all night. The smoke alarm was not fitted and was hanging from the ceiling.

Absolute disgrace. Motel is also being used as a halfway house for people with drug problems. Room was dirty and we didn’t have enough Glen20 to rid the smell in the room. Spa doesn’t work and the a/c is very average. Steer clear of this place.

All pretty good, little bit tired and worn in places but overall nice and quiet. We had enquired about disabled access and booked the family room as we had a wheel chair and walker. When we found two big sets of stairs on arrival we were very surprised. We did end up with much smaller rooms that had no full kitchen etc and still 5 steps to contend with but appreciated having somewhere to stay after our 3 hr drive. It would be good to update the info around disabled access and educate the staff too as this would be a real issue for some people. I managed to get everyone up and down each day but it felt dangerous!

Anna as manager was terrific. Room was very spacious and more than met our needs. Bed was excellent. Only issue we had was the access to hot water for showers - Anna fixed that and after waiting 7 minutes - it worked well.

Should have read the reviews first. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.

Rooms- grubby. Cobwebs in the corners of the rooms stains in the walls and sink.
Cleaners left a kitchen sponge for us to reuse and used cotton buds on the ground.

Bathroom- Bathtub has clearly not been cleaned in a long time (see photos). Tiles lifted and one falling off the wall.

Outside- Paths full of overgrown weeds.

The accommodation is in a desperate need to be ungraded with some fresh paint and maintenance. We booked as a big family and our booking through Wotif was fine but for the family that called and booked their room wasn’t there, was lucky there was another room available. No apology or anything from the man working at reception.
We had a long hair hanging off the kettle and several hairs on and in the toilet. The shower head needs to be changed as it’s that old the water doesn’t come out properly.
Bed was ok, pillows need to be replaced and furniture is very old and worn.
The grass is that over grown with massive weeds it’s like a jungle out the back.
Has to be hands down the worst accommodation we have ever stayed in.

Cleaning needs to be done properly just vaccuming or sweeping floors around the furniture isnt good enough under the beds and furniture needs to be done once a week some rooms are spot on perfect but the pet friendly rooms seem to be a lil neglected and unclean marks on walls mold in bathroom around the bath and shower.. bar frigde is missing 2 feet so it doesnt sit properly and was over charged for the room as i paid i 175 the first night and got down graded from a nice suit to what i consider the shitest room available just coz of my dog… i wouldnt pick this again as a prefferd place to stay

Room was suppose to be newly renovated. However furniture was rough and missing trim in parts. Shower rail/ handle on door was broken. There was no hanging rod in robe. So had no where to hang clothes. There was a thin layer of dustcovering some surfaces throughout room. Decor was very dated. Curtains hanging loose from fixings. Quite a shabby room. Silicone seal in shower qas miss matched and some pressence f mould on shower ceilings.
