The drive to the hotel in the 'Lesser Town' was - given the many tourists and school groups touring the neighborhood - somewhat unnerving as the streets with their cobblestone pavement were obviously not laid out for car traffic (and there was construction going as well. Anyway, we made it and were welcomed by excellent hosts at a location that literally is on spitting distance from the Charles Bridge. The reception desk told us that we had the best room in the hotel (#10) and that was absolutely true, spacious, clean and with an amazing view of the castle and the surrounding area. The view was the result of us being on the highest point of the building, ie under the roof, with rustic roof beams in a - what one should best describe - suite. The price to pay for this luxury was 4 staircases with the last one being more like a spiral staircase - I believe 75 stairs in total. For anyone with cardiovascular disease #10 is probably not the best choice, but if you can physically navigate this, the reward is high.
The location is such that every attraction is walkable, the castle is probably a mere 20 minute walk. We parked the car in an underground parking garage at the Rudolfinum, perhaps 5-10 minutes walking from the hotel. Kafka museum around the corner, the 'Old Town' is the length of the Charles Bridge away (500 meters or 550 yards).
The food that is served at the hotel is tasty but hearty, and beer is indeed cheaper than water. Book a guided tour at PragueWay, excellent.

Hotel was pleasantly nice with a very good breakfast. The staff were also helpful and open to make suggestions and arrange a taxi to the airport. The only thing is that they do not have laundry on site, which is listed as an amenity. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay!

This is a great hotel in a wonderful location! We came during the Christmas season and there was a small market right outside our door. The staff were fantastic and friendly. I would highly recommend staying here if you’re looking for a central spot not in the noisiness of city center.

We had a 3 night stay at this boutique hotel , we couldn’t fault it , from the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Micheal in reception who was a wealth of information , very friendly and helpful.
You can contact reception to arrange a taxi for you to the hotel and return to the airport on departure, this was very helpful.
We arrived before check in , we were lucky that our room was ready 40 minutes later . The room was perfect, photos do not do it justice , we had a lovely view too .
Breakfast was good, plenty of choice without being overwhelming .
This side of the river is a great base , quaint tree lined cobblestoned streets , a relaxed atmosphere in the daytime and quiet in the evening, not far from the old town for a day of sightseeing.

Really enjoyed our stay at the Golden. Lovely room and excellent breakfast. We had a view of Charles Bridge from our room. Kampa Island is beautiful and quieter than the Old Town but only a short walk away across the bridge.
Only down side is that the bar closes most nights at around 9am. A bit surprising for a 4 star hotel.

A really adorable hotel with a great room. INCREDIBLY well-located- literally steps from the Charles Bridge, a 5 min walk to public transport, and everything that Prague as to offer. Everything was new, modern, and well-decorated. The rooms were comfortable, and VERY spacious, great bathroom, lots of space to lay things out, plenty of outlets, lights, natural light, etc... The free breakfast was amazing, too. Only small notes- some lights in the room were out and didn't get changed, despite telling the front desk. Also, took a while to get sheets for the pull-out bed and then had to explain why we needed a blanket- but the staff were super accommodating, friendly, and helpful!

What is not to like about this location. Central and steps away from Charles Bridge, Excellent breakfast in morning and hot wine in evening. Minutes from everything and lovely courtyard right outside. The location and amount of rooms is perfect. The staff was always great and easy to talk too and we could not have asked for better. We loved this hotel in Prague and would highly recommend it. The location was perfect. We were able to walk everywhere, the restaurants were close, the hotel restaurant had delicious breakfast and dinner (didn't eat lunch). The bed was comfortable. It is right under the Charles bridge. take the tram to the plaza and walk a very short distance. a lot of activities around. and the only chance to have a quieter bridge is in the early morning, which is a good plus for this hotel. can walk to any places in the old town but still good to have a day pass. breakfast is great too.

Really pleased I chose this hotel for our 3 night stay in Prague. Location on Kampa Island was perfect and very easy access to Charles Bridge, the old town, Jewish quarter and Prague Castle. Metro and trams are five minutes walk. Plenty restaurants & bars nearby.

I have been to Prague before and stayed in bigger hotels than this one, but the treatment and attention I was given surpassed the other hotels - he was professional and yet friendly and a great source of information. As this was our first visit to Prague, we chose this hotel based on its location and reviews of others and we are delighted that we did. From the moment we arrived and were warmly greeted by Petr we knew we had made the right decision to stay here. We could not have wished for a better location and the hotel is spotless and beautifully decorated. The room was superb and the bed was extremely comfortable. My wife often rates the quality of a hotel room based on its bathroom and as soon as she saw ours, she fell in love with it. (High praise indeed).
Breakfast is included so when I made the original hotel booking, as a vegan I requested soya milk for my coffee. What a pleasant surprise I received on the first morning to discover that not only had they provided the milk alternative but also presented vegan yogurts, breads, spreads, tofu etc which, for a relatively small hotel, was a huge gesture. Charming hotel in a prime spot.
I was originally considering the Hilton or Marriott on the other side of Old Town since I have points with them. When looking at locations, I opted for this hotel which is literally next to the Charlses Bridge. Everything is within reasonable walking distance from here. About 15 minutes to Old Town Square, about 15 minutes to the Caste in the other direction. A bonus is that hotel area is not as insanely crowded as those across the bridge near Old Town. There are plenty of people here, but it feels a bit more of a retreat from the main crowds. The hotel has an old town charm that made me feel more like I was in Prague than a Hilton or Marriott would do. The staff were exceptionally polite and helpful. I will stay here again if I ever make it back.

This Hotel is perfect for visiting Prague. It is right next to the St. Charles bridge on a wide tree lined street. There is a gelato stand fifty yards away and ending the evening at their sidewalk café was perfect. The breakfast was delightful. We will definitely go back to the U Zlatych Nuzek.

This hotel was perfect. Located right next to the St. Charles Bridge and on a wide tree lined street. The breakfast was delightful and the sidewalk restaurant was perfect for ending the evening at a table visiting. There was a great gelato stand fifty yards from the front door and the Kampa Park restaurant around the corner is on the river and it is wonderful. We will stay at the U Zlatych nuzek again.

this hotel is wonderful! Our room was spacious and beautifully decorated. The bathroom was huge with both a soaking tub and a walk-in shower. The sitting area had comfortable chairs and usable tables. The hotel is in a great location tucked below the Charles Bridge so you can spend the day & evening walking & sightseeing all over historical Prague and then come back to a quiet, friendly place in a laidback neighborhood. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was really good.

For those who don't mind sleeping without air conditioning then this is perfect! For myself I can not sleeping without air conditioning, so I have to get my self tired and drink a few glass of beers to make me be able to sleep. Location wise is awesome, only few steps to the Charles Bridge. The staff is really nice to us and giving us good information.

Excellent place to stay when visiting Prague
We wanted to be close to the Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle. This was the perfect location! The music outside the cafe was an unexpected pleasure. It was a short walk across the bridge to the old town, which was pretty crowded with tourists. This location was close enough, yet a little bit removed. The breakfast was excellent. Peter at the front desk was very hospitable and accommodating. The hotel is quaint and historical, yet fit with many conveniences and technology. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Prague!

Nice little hotel in great location
We were happy with this hotel; the location was ideal, included breakfast was nice, and service was good (especially Michelle at the front desk). It's not a luxurious hotel, though - beds were rather firm, furniture was basic, no carpeting. Had a \"family room\" for 4, but our kids shared a double bed rather than getting separate singles. One warning: If you stay in the summer, be aware there's no air conditioning, just one fan, and too many bugs to be able to leave a window open overnight!

I read the trip advisor reports about this hotel, but I rolled the dice anyway and lost. Every warning is true, there are five floors and no elevator and there is no air conditioning. We ended up on the fourth floor, but I want to say the stairs didn't bother us or carrying the luggage. We traveled with our two kids, 9 and 11 years old. The quadruple room was comfortable with lots of space. The bathroom was really nice. The staff were helpful and sweet and we liked them a lot. Now for the only negative. It was over ninety degrees, and where all the heat rises in a room near the top. They provided a fan but that was no relief. I liked the hotel, liked the room, liked the price, but its not worth it to be up all night in the heat with only two tiny windows. I would return, but never in the summer or during a heat wave. Oh, and one last thing, it was difficult to find. You cannot drive right up to it and the numbers in the plaza are out of sequence! It is over a restaurant of the same name.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were exceedingly freindly and very helpful. The room was of a nice size and the bathroom made me wish I could take it home. I have only two complaints. One is the lack of a lobby area but the connected resturant filled in nicely. The lack of a lift required us to haul our luggage up three flight of stairs which was a real chore. If one is your and fit this is doeable but we past those years sometime ago. One of the staff took pity on us and helped with our largest bag. After the first night they moved us down one floor which helped so that we had two flights of stairs to climb rather than three

Convenient location
Located just under the Charles Bridge, the Golden Scissors is an excellent small hotel. We found the location to be ideal as you are central to all the sights. We stayed in a bedroom sleeping 4 and it was very spacious with an enormous bathroom. The rooms were absolutely spotless, the hotel is also completely non-smoking which was an advantage to us. Be aware that there is no lift in the hotel.

I really enjoyed my one-night stay here. This hotel is very small, more of a boarding house than anything. As such, it doesn't have a 24/7 front-desk or many of the amenities that you would expect of a full-service hotel. But this small, personal feeling is maybe why I liked it so much.
The restaurant, for which guests receive a 10% discount, served great Czech food and the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The facilities were great. Very luxurious and comfortable although not 100% modern.
The location is outstanding. Right off the Charles Bridge and on the most beautiful square west of the river. I highly recommend staying here.

If it was possible to give minus five stars this would have been the place. Mold, noisy aircon, linens with holes etc. I had to change rooms twice. The only redeeming factor was that I talked to an attractive woman from Germany in the elevator. Luckily the elevator is slow. Unfortunately, I didn’t ask for her number.

Wenn Gäste obendrüber nicht stundenlang in ihrer Suite nicht halbe Nacht im Zimmer laut spazieren gehen würden und 1.12 Uhr im Nachbarzimmer wo Wanne direkt an Kopfende unseres Zimmers ist nicht noch stundenlang Waser laufen lässt wären es ruhige Nächte. Ich empfehle Buchung für mindestens Juniorsuite oder Deluxe Suite um auch eine Wanne genießen zu können. Dasvzimmet der normalen Suite ist genauso groß wie Doppelzimmer , man könnte da paar Euro sparen.Für die benachbarte Bahn deren Geräusche man hört kann zwar Vermieter nichts aber sollte besonders bei offenen Fenster bedacht werden. Unsere Charles Bridge View Suite hat alte Möbel wie z.b. Sessel und Schimmel im Bad sowie unter Fenster
