The hotel concept design is very well achieved and has a cool vintage vibe. It’s located in a beautiful area close to the cathedral . Breakfast is great . The staff was not kind enough for such a nice place . Didn’t show attention to guests needs . The front desk staff was nice and smiled only at the moment of the check out when he asked to leave a good review of the hotel. If only he had the same attitude from the beginning my review would be Excellent

24 Hours in Prague

This was a hugely impressive boutique hotel, that set itself apart from the norm. On arrival the service was excellent, friendly and we received an upgraded room.
The room and hotel was clean, and quirky in its decoration and layout. The bed and linen was very comfortable. The breakfast had plenty of choice and was generous.
The location was in the castle area and quiet in the evenings, but close enough to quickly get to plentiful choice of restaurants and routes to the old city.
After an all too short stay, we received a candy pack for our onward journey, which I have never received before!
On reflection, I would have stayed longer if I could, and would strongly recommend it to others. If I’m lucky enough to return to Prague, this is where I would stay.

We had a nice stay here. The room was spacious and the breakfast was delicious. The elevator was very slow, and we used the hotel laundry service. Our laundry was most definitely not cleaned. It still smelled dirty as when we first gave it, and our clothes were crunchy. We had one shopping bag worth of laundry and it cost $90 for clothes we had to clean again at another place. We complained to the front desk and they took half off but honestly the laundry service is so appalling. Great place to stay if you don't need laundry service, but it also makes me side eye the sheets and towels.

I don't know why anyone would call this place clean or comfortable. I am baffled by how disgusting this hotel was. We only stayed about two hours before promptly booking another hotel and leaving. First, the room was so fragrant. I could hardly breathe it stunk so bad, and I wouldn't even sit on the bed because the sheets were so fragrant. Then, we realized how incredibly dirty the carpet and walls were. There were so many stains on the carpets and walls and even a huge burn mark on the floor. Next, came the ants. There were quite a few ants running around the room and they got all over a pair of our shoes. Another filthy detail is that the chair in the room smelled so sour, as if had been cleaned over and over with a dirty rag. Finally, the room and balcony used in the photos for the room we booked looked nothing like the actual room we got, and the balcony was much smaller. We checked out within 2.5 hours or less and we did not ask for a refund but were offered a refund. They literally encouraged us to call Expedia so that Expedia could call them to confirm the refund. But when Expedia called to confirm the refund, the hotel denied it. The only redeeming quality about this place is its prime location. If you want to be I'm the heart of Mala Strana, and you don't mind a dirty and run-down hotel, then go for it. If you want to feel clean and cozy, this is absolutely not the place for you. I was disappointed with this \"hotel.\" It's so gross, and I felt cheated.

Maybe the best hotel in Prague?

I'm a frequent visitor to Prague and have stayed at many different hotels in Mala Strana. But I have to say that Hotel Sax was by far my favourite. I had one of the two top-floor rooms that look over the city, and the view was amazing. The room itself was very comfortable and fairly spacious, the staff went out of their way to make my stay pleasant, and everything was just perfect. I'm already looking forward to my next Prague trip so that I can again stay at the Hotel Sax.

If i go back to Prague, i will definitely stay in this hotel again. It is clean, quiet, and walkable to everywhere. During my 5 day stay in Prague i did not use public transportation and i walkes to all tourist attractions. At front desk, ROMAN was so helpful and knowledgeable abd he shared lots of information about the history of Prague with me. If you go to LH Vintage Design hotel, ask for Roman and his information will help you to visit majority of the places in a short time. Also, the hotel offers great buffet breakfast. At check out, they also give me a thank you gift, a small box of coconut chocolate. They deserve more than 5 stars.

A Brilliant little hotel

What can I say. This hotel is brilliant. From the moment you walk through the door its obvious it must be a great place to work for. ALL of the staff walked around with a smile on their faces.
We arrived too early to check in. The receptionist however completed all of the paperwork and we put our luggage in the luggage room.
It was evident from entry however it was going to be immaculate .
When we returned we went to our room. It had brilliant retro decor .
The bathroom was modern and had both a bath and a shower. They have a courtesy snack and drinks room ( Which to be honest we didnt use).
We had booked breakfast and I was honestly thinking it would be basic continental. How wrong we were. All bases were covered. Including eggs, bacon, sausages and beans. The fresh fruit was also nice.
Its ideally placed just up from the American embassy with a lot of bars and restaurants nearby. Also on the doorstep is the castle and KGB museum ( I wonder why it was located there?)

The only real negative was the shower in the bathroom. The shower pressure was not so good and for a shorter person getting in and out of the bathtub wasn’t the easiest.

I liked this hotel. It was in a good location, close to the castle and cathedral and the old town square. Also the neighbor had some good restaurants. Also, the breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. However, while we were there the air conditioner was not working and it was quite hot. They had fans for the rooms, but unfortunately it was still quite uncomfortable without air conditioning. But for that one issue, I would have rated the hotel higher.

Owner didn’t care our Air-conditioner didn’t work

The hotel is generally very nice and in good condition. We took room 34 which was a premium room, pretty big and well lighten.
The hotel is beautifully designed and breakfast is good.

The main issue we had was that our air conditioner wasn’t really working and we had to spend 4 days at a blazing heat. Couldn’t even take a proper shower as it was just too hot to be in the room (it was a very hot week in Prague). We asked for it to be fixed 4 times and they really didn’t do anything but clean the filters and telling us that it’s just working. It blows out air so it was enough - it’s jot expected to cool the room apparently. I asked to speak to the manager and he said the same thing - insisted the A/C was working but it was not.

I plan to contact Hotels.com to ask for some compensation for this. This is not the experience we paid for.

Room seemed to be after thought - behind the kitchen in what was likely a storage room with burned out light in hallway leading to room. Loved Prague but this night was not good.

Hotel was in excellent location and could have been very good experience, however, room directly opposite ours, was being upgraded, and they had workmen drilling and sawing tiles etc very early, and they had no door on the room so we got no peace and was very disruptive, waking us up far too early in the day.

Food was very average at breakfast as well, so definitely wouldn’t recommend that.

Also was made to wait for nearly an hour to check in after the time we told to come to check in due to them deciding to paint reception during the day, which is what we didn’t need after our early morning flights and us killing a whole morning walking around town until our check in time.

Had potential for a good hotel but we were let down too many times.

우리 가족 셋이 숙박하였는데 비교적만족 했습니다
딸이 동반하였는데 분리된 방에서 잘 수 있어 만족했습니다.
주차는 10분 거리의 자매호텔 주차장에 했는데 불편
프라하성에 가까워 숙소를 정했는 데 오히려 올드타운에서 숙박하는 것이 나을 듯합니다. 전차까지 7분이랑 걸어가야했고 오르막으로 불편했습니다. 프라하 관광은 대중교통을 이용해야하므로 지하철이나 전차역에 가까운 숙소가 좋은 것 같습니다.
엘레베이터가 있어서 짐 옮기기 편리했구요
숙소는 깨끗하고 실내 디자인이 마음에 들었구요.
아침식사는 보통 괜찮은 편입니다

Hotel Sax is a boutique hotel very conveniently located to both the castle side of Prague and the old town. We booked a very good special off of Expedia, and were given a room on the main floor behind the breakfast area. While this was disappointing at first, it turned out to be convenient and the sitting area right outside our door made it feel like a mini suite! The hotel is small, but the front desk staff was super helpful. Breakfast buffet had a good variety and was included.

Lovely funky design hotel

Nice clean hotel, helpful staff (all very good English spoken). Continental breakfast with a good range of options including fruits, cold meats and cheeses, porridge, pancakes, breads, etc, but no cereal.
Our delux room on the first floor was a good size with a good size bathroom and windows overlooking the street. Comfortable beds too, (although 2 single duvets rather than a double for our double bed).
The terrace on the 4th floor was being renovated making it out of action, otherwise we might have liked to have breakfast up there.
Light were very bright in the room, even the side lamps, making it difficult to create a cosy atmosphere.
The bathroom had a large frosted window in the wall as a design feature. However, this meant that if one of us used the bathroom in the night, the bathroom light would light up the bedroom too, disturbing anyone else. Although on a very small street, the road noise was loud even through the double glazing, so when the first car went past on the cobbled street in the morning it woke us up.
It is located up the hill about a 15 minute walk from Charles bridge and perhaps 30min walk from the Old Town square. Coming back to the hotel was sometimes a bit of a pain. However, the teams are excellent and bring you back somewhere near.

Night receptionist is not the most attentive. Finally got to the hotel around 8.30 after a long day. Was told there was no parking, and I can’t park anywhere as it’s Prague residents parking only. Finally found out from him you can park at the hotel next door - Boutique Hotel Constans (only if you have a small car though, but the guys there were lovely!). Nice hotel, absolutely amazing views from the 4th floor terrace in my room to the castle and Prague (worth the bother with the parking). Nice area, within walking distance of everything, and quiet. Breakfast was good - nice array of food.

My friend and I stayed at the hotel SAX for three nights from Feb 20th to the 23rd...check in was very quick and simple, we had the room #32 on the third floor with the view of Mala Strana and partially of the Prague Castle...the room was spacious and very clean...bathroom was also very nice and clean....staff at the hotel was exceptionally pleasant at all times, breakfast was simple but good, and the WiFi worked great...its a very small hotel (less than 40 rooms) which gives it a very cozy feel...hotels location is great, right between the Charles Bridge and the Prague Castle...the reason why I gave 4 out of 5 for room comfort is that there was no fridge at the room....if I ever go back to Prague I would definitely consider staying at this hotel again...

I really enjoyed staying at Sax Hotel. The hotel is very well decorated with authentic details.
- Location is very good, better than staying around the old town, I loved walking across the beautiful Charles Bridge everyday on the way to the hotel.
- The breakfast is really good.
- The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The first night our room was super cold and the heater was broken, when we called the reception, they changed the room right away.

IKEA....I GIVE UP!

It felt like we checked into an IKEA department store. The breakfast was only average, and it didn't seem as though they had enough people on their staff. The breakfast took too long (to bring the pancakes out) 24 minutes. Our wake-up call arrived one our late as the guy at the front dest had to help out in the breakfast area.
We also had trouble with the television and the shower. The bed was comfortable however.

The suite we stayed at was complete with tv, laptop, hair dryer, slippers and other basic hotel necessities. Strong wifi signal even if you're a few meters away from the hotel. We greatly enjoyed this hotel, we arrived early in the morning and were able to check in then. The room was modern and comfortable, with a huge bathroom. The breakfast was ok, not my personal taste but lots of options nonetheless. The only disappointment was once we returned home, the hotel had taken some money out of my bank account without saying why- I emailed them and they told me it was because of things we had taken from the minibar, although we had not taken anything. This seemed a bit of a con, because for all I know they might have just been trying to get a few extra pounds out of me.

Retro brilliance

The retro feel to this hotel makes it a place you want to be in. Staff were knowledgeable and efficient. Everything was perfect from start to finish. The roof terrace was a bit on the small side, but other than that this was a fantastic hotel to stay at and the design features in our room and all the public areas really took us back a few decades to the 60s/70s. Absolutely brilliant. Location was well placed within walking distance of many attractions. We also took the opportunity to use the private spa (additional cost) after a hard days walking round Prague which was a really relaxing way to unwind. It was a unique experience and one I would recommend to anyone wanting to make the place they stay a bit more unusual than the norm.

I took a long time choosing a hotel for our break in Prague. This one really stood out from all the rest...quirky 60's, 70's theme it looked fabulous. The reviews where excellent as well. When we arrived we were not disappointed, it was way better than we even imagined. It was a definite WOW moment when we walked into the lobby...this continued when we walked into our room. A wall display unit across one wall, with a wonderful collection of 60's,70's, 80's ceramics. This theme was carried out across the hotel, so it was fun going from floor to floor looking (and photographing) at it all.

Absolutely loved this hotel. Very close to all attractions. 2 minute walk from Charles Bridge and Castle just a 10 minute (uphill). The staff were so friendly and the breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon, cereals - pretty much anything to suit. I would highly recommend booking the hottub - making your break that little bit more special. I will tell friends and family to stay here if they choose a trip to prague.

Perfect hotel! not too far from the castle and about 5minutes from Charles Bridge, it offered everything it says online and more! Beautiful room, lovely spread at breakfast, staff lovely and situated in a good neighborhood with restaurants very close. Perfect for our 3 night trip to Prague! Very very highly recommended!

fun hotel which will add a smile to your stay

We picked this place intrigued by the design and quirkiness, we had plenty of time and not a heavy agenda so it's slightly out of town location worked ok for us. It's 20 mins from the old square some quite uphill which may not suit some.

As others have mentioned the service is friendly, the breakfast is great. There is tea and coffee making available in the lobby round the clock, which makes up a little for not being in the room, and a supermarket nearby open 0600-2300 for milk etc.

We enjoyed the theme and it didn't detract from the function and comfort of the hotel which can sometimes happen.

My only gripe was the pillows on our bed which were truly awful, a lumpy hot mess.

Great Location, comfortable bed, useful staff

Cool hotel, great value and in a perfect spot for exploring both the castle (10 minutes walk uphill) and the rest of the town across the bridge (15-20minutes walk).
Super comfortable bed and nice enough room with some interesting 40;s-70's design features (as throughout the rest of the hotel).
The reception staff were nice and friendly and the breakfast (included in our room price) was great and filling.

The hotel and it's staff are great! Personally loved all the quirky decorations and found it very charming. We booked a double room and it was huge almost like a suite. Had a giant king bed, bathroom with shower and tub, a sitting room that had a desk, table, tv, dvd, etc and a entry hall with a nice big closet. The hotel breakfast was great too! You get to order from a menu and eat from the buffet. The gym is 10 euros per couple for the entire stay so keep that in mind. It's quite small and other than the treadmill the machines feel a bit vintage. I don't know if they were trying to go for vintage with the old bikes and elliptical (an the hair dryer) or if they just need to be upgraded. Either way everything worked well.

Good location, good service, great breakfasts, no real complaints. Dvd player and laptop in room is a great touch. 3 Euro dvd rentals is a bit steep and most titles in library are in Czech so hard to tell what movie it was from Hollywood/English movies. If only such hotels and value existed in London!

Stylish and Pleasant

We had stayed in this hotel for two nights and it was a pleasant experience. The location may not be perfect (specially with lots of luggage or kids) as one has to walk around 5~7 minutes or to get on the tram, but it's still at great location considering Charles bridge or Prague Castle is at walking distance. Staffs are nice and helpful. Morning breakfast and afternoon tea were also good. We would like to stay again in this hotel when we come to Prague next time.

AWESOME PLACE AND AWESOME LOCATION!!!

I TOTALLY recommend this hotel. SO COOL and you get a breakfast, and it was really good! The location cannot be beat. I SOOOO RECOMMEND staying here-best part of Prague. Old Town is cool and has the clubs, but this part of town is quaint, and absolutely beautiful. Great hotel, really unique. Great service, I wish I was still there!!!

Excellent Hotel in a great location

We stayed in this hotel for our honeymoon - from the initial collection by the hotel taxi driver to leaving we thoroughly enjoyed everything that this hotel has to offer. The hotel has a very unique design - which will not be to everyone's taste, but it is very clean, very smart and fun. The room was very, very adequate in size, furnishings were good and the bathroom was clean and well thought out. The room probably sported the biggest TV in a hotel room I've ever seen, 40\" +? and the hotel even had a DVD library where you could rent films to use on the DVD player also provided in your room. Tea/Coffee facilities were not in the room, but a 'coffee room' just downstairs allowed you to prepare your drink and take back to your room, no big problem. The breakfast was nicely presented and the food selection was diverse enough (hot/cold). The staff running the hotel really are excellent. I never encountered a rude employee during my stay. 'Jan' in the breakfast room was attentive and friendly and the lady on the reception desk was similar. The hotel even has a SPA / Sauna facility, albeit at a subcharge. This is an excellent facility; always private for two people with music, candles and a TV that displays a panoramic view of Prague which was a nice touch. The hotel is in a good location. Roughly 5-8 minutes to the Charles Bridge. Lots of cafes and restaurants nearby of excellent quality. I can't recommend this hotel enough. Truly excellent in many ways.

Great quirky hotel

Had a great stay here in early September 2012. Staff were very helpful. Not in the main centre of the city but location is great for Charles Bridge (10min walk) and St. Nicholas church. It's a 5 minute walk to the tram for connection to metro and city. Good breakfast with nice options which you don't normally get. Excellent room with complimentary laptop. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a stay in Prague.

Terrific experience

This is a lovely hotel. Totally individual,there is nothing corporate about it at all. The decor is in the style of 50s,60s & 70s, it is a feast for the eyes.
The rooms and bathrooms are individually styled. Visitors are provided with bath robes, slippers, safe, tv, dvd player and laptop. The buffet breakfast is excellent and you also have a choice of freshly cooked hot dishes. (French toast with berries and creme fraiche is delicious!) The staff are young and smiling and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is situated in a quiet street in the Lesser Town about 10 mins from the Castle and 5 mins from Charles Bridge. There are lots of restaurants and cafes nearby. If you are travelling by public transport, it is not far from the tram stop but may be a bit tricky to find.

A great little find...

My wife and I stayed four nights at the beginning of September for a short holiday. We arrived after a bad journey from the airport but the friendly reception and hotel style immediately cheered us up. The 50s/60s/70s design theme works really well and it's a hotel to photograph - an experience in it;s own right. The room we had was moderate in size but very well equipped and very clean. The hotel doesn't do dinner but has a dining room where breakfast is served - excellent range with buffet style continental breakfast; some hot items and waitress service for coffee/tea and hot breakfasts - no need to go out into Prague hungry here!
The staff were all very friendly and helpful with adequate English and good advice. We're looking forward to going back!

Yeah, baby!

This hotel was like stepping onto the set of Austin Powers. An amazing staff that helped us even before we checked into the hotel (they held one of our bags for us). The breakfast and afternoon tea staff were top notch. The bathroom was small and the closet was unusable, but otherwise- a fun place to stay.

Modern and peaceful

We mostly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Sax. The location was wonderfully quiet and far from the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. Small touches such as a filled water pitcher, and tea time snacks and beverages were truly appreciated. The only flaw was that the air-conditioning was on when we arrived and stuck at 16 degrees celsius. As it was late when we reported it, we were offered extra blankets. My husband finally managed to raise the temperature by pressing very very hard on the button.
